did, it just did another twist again. It was out of control, I had the cardboard packaging still and the receipt, Aldi refunded me no problem. I wish I had taken photos of all the kinks, but I do not take the phone into the garden in case I drop it or it gets wet. Im not sure who tested these hoses, but not Aldi's usual good quality, they did not go hard, but they had a mind of their own for kinking in several places. To get a hose that doesnt kink, I believe you have to spend 3 times Aldi prices, Im on Hoselink and Aussie Gardeners website now! The small hose (blue) had a constant drip from the fittings when I fitted a 2 litre container sprayer to it. Maddening.
we bought a hose 30 meters only to find that after we tried to connect the hose to our standard hose the ends on the water hose bought from Aldi's were like the attachment on an air hose and that two additional hose connectors were missing. what I do not like is when a store says the item was never purchased there and the store intentionally sells a defective product - no i DO NOT want and EXCHANGE - nor do I want a refund, what i want to that the store pays for their intentional deception through fair trading, many times over
I bought two of these thinking because they were braided they would be more robust and durable. Wrong! They both had holes when connected for the 1st time. So the water flowed out of the one spot, making the hoses not fit for purpose. As they both were defective, these can only be described as garbage, which is where they ended up.

as I didn't keep the purchase docket. The manager was rude and refused straight away due to the missing paperwork. When we protested and said we were regulars and the product was identifiably theirs, she said we might have stolen it. We were gobsmacked and asked where trust and fairness comes into this request for an exchange. She questioned what trust and fairness on Aldi's part was needed. We replied the trust and fairness we deserved relates to the warranty they give and the courtesy of looking at the product and the photos I took of the holes. She didn't budge on the blank refusal to engage further. We walked out without shopping there this week.

failure to draw in the last few metres like its very frustrating predecessor. Hose end connection has a flow lock and plastic casing and fittings seem UV durable after 2 years and hot summers mounted outside. Reel casing has a handle on top, so it can be easily lifted off the wall mount and brought indoors or used elsewhere.
The only minor weakness is that the hose is the type that's inclined to kink sometimes when in use and dragged about on the ground. The reel spring tension is so strong, and the hose is so supple, that the first hose windings around the reel can be seen to get flattened slightly. However, it immediately recovers when fully unwound off the reel, especially once the water is turned on.
ALDI also occasionally offer a cheaper 20m version, but presently (Feb. 2024) have the 30m one on sale at for $79.
Update 3/2024 - ALDI have the 30m reel in store again and only $69. Occasional hose kinks aside, no issues at all with the reel bought over 2 years ago and used 2 - 3 times a week in summer.
Great hose for its price – Ours is about a year old- still going strong. I understand about the trouble retracting it, but you have to pull out very gently and slowly, then let go. It doesn’t work if you tug on it or use a fast movement. Be very gentle and hopefully it will work for you, like it does for us. Show details

Kinks like you wouldn't believe – I have bought many garden hoses over the years of such brands as Pope and Nylex. I thought I'd try this Aldi purchased Gardenline hose and it takes the cake as it kinks like you wouldn't believe. Every time I use the hose I have to un-kink it at between 4-6 locations along the hose line. It is also a nightmare trying to wind it back onto the hose reel after use as the hose convolutes any which way. Avoid this convoluted hose. Show details

Taints the water – I think there is some reaction with the hose rubber that is affecting the water quality. My dog won't drink it, and I agree it seems to have a chemical taste to it.. I want to take it back but they will think I'm mad. Anyone else with this issue let me know?!

as Gardenline is heaps better and not as flimsy, also I saved heaps for I paid ONLY $80 for my new 30metre which is 99 feet long to go from front to back! Cannot beat also for price, quality and also a 1 year warranty with money back or a replacement with Aldi so you cannot beat Aldi for quality!

Useless within 3 years – Initially very pleased but after 12 months the hose began to stiffen presumably from usual Australian temperatures and hose to tap had to be removed and replaced with a length of ordinary Australian made hose. Supplied hose then frayed near end at ball which limits rewind and now hose is so rigid it will not retract without a battle to feed it in gently. Is located on South facing wall and only gets late afternoon Summer sun. AVOID!

Gardenline hose 20m – This hose is the worst I have bought. The hose head, fitting doesn't fit at all and when first used and since, sprays out of the head everywhere. Terrible quality. I have bought two and I will never buy them again.
