conditions meeting the wait period, someone called Carol answered the phone was extremely rude and would not allow me to talk to TL to explain my side of the story she kept talking over me and told me go lodge a complaint with ombudsman and also laughter back at me mocking me , no empathy no shame over flawed product which you cannot buy without end date and you should remember to renew no notice / reminder and no courtesy, but the want to take the money as long as they can ? The in person meeting really has saved me from the nightmare of calling 136742. I was at the help desk in Monash University where Van was really helpful. I was able to see that the payment I made for OSHC upgrade was confirmed even though no email was sent to notify me. for the confirmation. The onboarding process was done immediately all thanks to Van’s excellent Customer Service. I didn’t have to wait 5-7 business days as I was repeatedly told over the phone. I recommend visiting a physical desk or office to get your issues resolved promptly.
So I go through the entire process of applying for a Visitor insurance cover, add in my Father's details, my CC payment details but in the end to be told I cannot apply online since he's a returning customer and need to speak to a staff member? had called to do the above she was told to do it online, then she gets the same message that she needs to speak to a staff member. What nonsense is this? We're in 2026 no 2006. Please, at least do the check before we add in our payment details, please help us when we call you.

I have had both Student and Overseas Visitor covers with Allianz for the last 10 years and I’ve been happy enough with their service to continue my health insurance with them. enough to submit, particularly since the system was changed and you can submit claims online by uploading the invoice rather than filling out a longer form. Payments have been made within 2 weeks. However, since March 2025, I have been unable to submit online claims, I keep getting and error message (see screenshot) in the App and the website and I have contacted Allianz Care numerous times about it and the issue haven’t been solved. They have also taken an average of 7 business days to reply my emails, which is much longer than de 2 business days they provide as approximate timeframe for a reply. The only answers I got is “sorry for the delay, has the issue been resolved? We hope it was a bug in the app” or “You can submit claims online or through the app by …”, when my question was not how to submit claims, it was about solving the error I’ve been getting since March 2025. So overall, if the claiming submission system works well, I find Allianz Care a good provider, noting I’m not someone who needs to submit high or often claims. But when there is any issue that needs to be solved, in my experience the team have been rather unhelpful and I’m still waiting for a solution to an issue that is clearly a glitch in their system while I’m still paying a premium of $170/month.

their own list of private hospital agreement to proof the hospital I have been attended, was in the list and that my claim should be paid. Also Allianz healthcare has definitely not the best claim system, when others providers have easy APP’s to request payments, here we need to download forms, insert invoices, photos and more photos. To ended up not having any answers back by email.

The Core Dispute: As an international student, I graduated earlier than expected date and departed Australia permanently on 13/09/2025. and emailed Allianz for my rest of my money for my insurance. However, Allianz calculated my refund starting from my application date (Nov) instead of my departure date (Sept), causing a shortfall of $180.23. … Read more
2. Procedural Inconsistency & Questionable Motives: Allianz initially approved the refund based on my flight ticket and visa cancellation without requiring an "International Movement Record". However, only after I disputed the refund amount, they suddenly demanded this additional document to "verify eligibility". I question this logic: - If I was not eligible, why was the initial refund approved? - If this document is mandatory, why was it not requested in the initial application requirements? - Why is it being demanded now solely as a barrier to withholding the shortfall? 3. Refusal to Explain Calculation: I requested the calculation basis via email on Nov 14, 17, 27, and Dec 3, 12, 16 but Allianz ignored all these inquiries. Instead of explaining the math, they used the addtional document request to stall.
4. Ignored Final Notice: On Dec 25, I sent a final email stating that if they did not address my queries and refund the shortfall within 5 business days, I would seek external assistance. Allianz has continued to ignore me to this day.
I have lodged a formal complaint with the Commonwealth Ombudsman (Ref: PHI-2026-800001) regarding Policy P004193582. My refund dispute has been ignored for 2 months. I sent a final notice with the Ombudsman reference days ago and still received NO response. Is this how Allianz treat international students? It is awful and disappinted.

more absurd is that when I did attempt to purchase the policy 14 days earlier, their own website blocked me because we previously held a policy with them. It forced me to call during business hours, which meant sitting on hold endlessly just to speak to someone. For a company of this size, that level of inefficiency is unacceptable.
They offered zero alternatives. Not even the option to pay for the missing four days. No workaround, no solution—just rigid policy recitation. If this is how they treat a simple administrative issue, I dread to imagine how they would behave during an actual claim.
After this experience, I will not be returning to them. By contrast, BUPA allows next‑day sign‑ups and their support team is far more accessible. Even if it costs a little more, the peace of mind is worth it. If you’re considering OVHC providers, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This was a deeply disappointing and avoidable experience.

an oversea card, they told me as this is not my father’s card, and an oversea card, we need to wait 7 days to let them receive the funds, they refund us the rest. They said the funds can’t be returned to the oversea card, only can be returned to an Australia bank account, as my parents as visitors don’t have Australia accounts, they need me to call them to provide my bank account to get the refund after 7 days. We are very dissatisfied with Allianz's service. We didn't make a single claim, yet we were still overcharged. Imagine if you were a visitor without an Australian bank card; you would have no way to get this extra money back. In contrast, when my parents visited last time, Bupa waived our premiums for the last few days. I strongly advise against visitors choosing this insurance company to avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble. I don't know if they deliberately overcharged us because we didn't use our own names and an overseas card to pay for the insurance.

I had an appalling experience after purchasing OVHC for a family member through Allianz. When the time came to make a claim — during a medical emergency, no less — I couldn’t even log in to their portal. Customer service was useless. I could verify everything: policy details, personal info, even the fact that the credit card used was in my name. Still, they refused to assist unless my hospitalized mother filled out an extra authorisation form — something that should’ve been part of the original paperwork when buying the policy.
Why separate it out? Simple. Because it’s a system designed to fail you. A calculated scam to collect your money and give nothing in return. They’re quick to drain your account for premiums, but when you need actual help, they slam the door in your face. My mother couldn’t speak and was lying in a hospital bed, and all I wanted was basic information on how to make a claim. The very reason you buy health cover — peace of mind — is exactly what these companies destroy.
Enough is enough. It’s time for immigrants to come together, call this out for what it is, and demand the government stop enabling this disgraceful racket. File complaints. Speak up. This exploitation needs to end.
