The worst experience on the Canberra end. The lead was so rude and then didnt pad my TV and broke the speakers. I had photos and they still didnt reimburse us. Everyone from the APS who asks me for recommendations on CBR to SYD hears about my terrible experience.

Lost my Chaise Lounge and poor communication – Had nine (9) items of furniture moved from Perth, WA to Canberra, ACT and in the process Allied managed to lose one section of the Chaise Lounge making the whole thing unusable. Communication from start to finish was poor and all last-minute calls (they seem stretched and understaffed) and then losing an item is the cherry on top.......

GO TO SOMEONE ELSE!!! – I was charged an extra $297 for additional space, which is fine, but I was inundated with calls, voice messages and emails from Van Lopez who managed my move, so much so that he was emailing late Sunday evening asking for the invoice to be paid. I received my stuff just fine but the 'bullying' to pay an outstanding $297.00 invoice is… Read more

unprofessional. I received my goods on 05/09 and was inundated from then on until I paid the invoice today 09/09. My move was 13spm

Nightmare!!!!! – Please and I am saying it again - PLEASE do not consider this company if you are moving overseas. I am in tears writing this review and at my absolute wits end! In a nutshell- we had to sell our whole house - expensive furniture items as they gave us the wrong advice from the beginning, packing day was a nightmare (they left some expensive kitchen… Read more

items behind) and 28 WEEKS (almost 7 months) after packing day, we are yet to receive our shipment. :(

We have had to spend so much money on them but still, the service is not even worth $1!! I greatly regret the day we decided to go with them and not another company which was offering the same services at the same price.

Communication with them has been non existent and this has created a lot of mental distress for me and my family.

We have had to rent furniture, clothes and toys for our kids and is costing us extra every single day.

We are so disappointed with this company - please, please, please stay away from them!!!

Good moving, terrible communication – The movers did a good job, but the communication from Allied was terrible. They repeatedly contacted the wrong number, after I had confirmed the correct number for contact and told them multiple times to stop calling the other number. There were also issues with clarity around the charges and billing for the service. Would not do business with them again. Show details

a very bad experience, would NOT reccomend – I move a lot due to my work and I had never encountered such a bad service. The customer service is slow, if any. There was no tracking provided until we insisted on it. We had to send at least three follow up emails each time to receive a response from a single person. The packing of our home was done -terribly- by a woman and a teenager in… Read more

just a morning (in reference, four people in a whole day packed our things in our previous move). They were not thorough at all. We found dirty empty energy drink cans in our things upon arrival. Needless to say, stuff was broken due to bad packaging. And we had an overall increase of 5000 USD of additional charges. One of the charges was due to a delay from the company, but of course they are not liable.... what a bad experience. Allied in other countries, yes. In Australia -and specifically in ACT- no thanks. Strong suggest to avoid and chose another company.

Rough removalists – Moved a 4 bedroom house from Ballarat to Canberra. Move was conducted on time. The removalists were very rough with the items. The fridge was scratched on pick up and the sliding door frame was bent where it was taken through. They spat at my front doorstep.

Missed timeline/poor communication – Moved from NZ to Canberra - overall Ok but very upset that it has been more than 3 weeks and the empty 140 boxes/wrapping have not been picked up yet.Called/emailed several times/ no response at all. Even tried complaining on their review site - no follow up.Absolutely fed up

Careless and poor allocation of resources – I have booked Allied for a move within Canberra. They advised during the quote process that they could not be responsible for dismantling our large display cabinet but could send a couple of people to pack items in it so we could dismantle in prep for the move. The guys arrived and used my antique dining table as a packing surface without covering… Read more

it first. They stuck tape to it and on removing the tape removed the French polish. The table is also covered in LOTS of scratches. When contacted about this the move manager has completely ignored me and I have received no response to my email asking what they plan to do for repairs and for assurance that for the move propper that all surfaces will be protected before being used to pack boxes. The move is tomorrow, I will post again to let everyone know how it goes. By the way I have used Allied Pickfords for my moves in many countries over many years always been very happy with them before. Update They, being 1guy, arrived this morning to pack a 3 bedroom, 2 living spaces, large kitchen and double garage. After 4.45 hours he has just finished the kitchen and gone for lunch. No way this house is getting all packed today! We ended up moving out of the garage items ourselves, 3 truck and trailer loads. Edit Day 2 when they didn't arrived at the agreed start time and phone calls were getting us nowhere my husband went out to their office and lit a fuse under them. RESULTS! The pack was completed and uplift was completed as was delivery on time. We have now unpacked the important boxes and there are No breakages. Excellent. It was VERY stressful but in the end the right result. Now to get my great grandmothers table repaired.

Local move an 'easy' nightmare – The move was considered by the removalists 'easy'. It was a 2-bed house move without stairs locally in a distance less than 5km. Allied Pickfords selected a very small truck which, of course, made the move slower (with two loads). Also, the team was very slow. For three people, I would believe the move could be done in maximum of 3 hours, but it… Read more

took 5 hours. The staff was using the phone, walking slowly, knowing that I was paying per hour. Also, they did not wrap the furniture and white goods while transporting from the truck to my new home. I would not recommend this company to anyone. It is sad as a big and known company like this could be so unprofessional.

I thoroughly recommend the Allied team, they made a complex and varied move very stress free – A short distance move from one Canberra suburb to another. But a lot of very different things in the move, large bulky sculptures, pots, big bbq as well as the usual household furniture. Very impressive team, from Michael who assessed my requirement, Dean who coordinated my team, Luke who followed up how things were progressing, and the hugely… Read more

Very Happy With Small Move From Latrobe TAS Back to Mainland – It was a small move, just 8 or 9 cartons which I delivered to the depot myself. One went to Melbourne, the rest to Bundaberg, QLD. I was in no hurry to receive the goods, but they were delivered in a timely fashion and arrived fine - with a courtesy call a day ahead at both destinations. Really have to commend the young lady at the depot in… Read more ·  1

Latrobe for her very helpful and professional advice and service. Well done! And, naturally, the rest of the team for getting my goods delivered safely and at a reasonable cost... I will have no hesitation using Allied Pickfords in the future.

My negative experience – Well, didn't have time to write before this, because I was just blessed with twin grandsons. Now time to write about my experience with Allied Pickfords. They had my furniture in storage for about 12 years, after which I organised to take it back. I now live in Sydney, but storage had been in Canberra where I lived previously, and I had a shed… Read more

in Canberra where I asked them to deliver. All paid for, trip to Canberra organised, to take back delivery of all my items. They delivered. But I realised that the glass top of one huge imported dining table was not delivered, and there was a smashed glass top of a smaller table. I was informed that they had shifted stuff from warehouse to warehouse, and of course, accidents happen! Upon subsequent inquiry regarding the missing dining table-top, I was informed that that had also been broken, and rather than inform me, they had simply thrown it away. They offered no compensation - my problem basically, that I hadn't insured while in storage.

I had not even realised the need for insurance while stuff was with them, which I would have thought was their responsibility......

And then they asked me to sign for delivery. But I had realised by then that a lot of my stuff wasn't even there, meaning hadn't been delivered.

So I didn't sign, then returned to Sydney without having received my complete storage items. Subsequently, I was informed that they had located another lot of my stuff in their warehouse, which they had overlooked before. I was asked to go back to Canberra to take delivery of the remaining stuff.

I am 72 years old, and travelling is not something I jump into with enthusiasm. Plus there are costs involved. I asked them to compensate me for the second trip which became necessary because of their negligence in not having delivered all my stuff the first time, as arranged and paid for.

They refused. I checked with Fair Trading who told me they realised my problem, had also contacted Allied Pickfords. But, they said, they had no power to enforce anything, so I would have to take legal measures to obtain compensation for the second trip.

Meanwhile, I asked Allied Pickfords, since they still had my stuff, and since their track record was so geared to broken items, whether I could now insure the remaining stuff I had with them. They said no, I couldn't. So I am apprehensive now as to how many more items will be damaged while still with them (question marks - negligently, accidentally, deliberately ???)

In the meantime, the twin grandsons arrived, so I got busy. Of course, I'm still super busy, but need to make time somehow to see this matter through. I feel it's a matter of principle. I am not a pauper, but nor is Allied Pickfords a struggling poor company. They are a multi-national franchise and should have better ethics. So even if I have to pay more than I will get in compensation, I feel it right that I should pursue this matter.

What do other reviewers think?

Find a different service provider – We needed 2 items moved from Canberra to Coffs Harbour. They needed constant prodding to finalise the quote which ended up being the afternoon before scheduled pick up (and needed full payment in a matter of hours). Missed 5 delivery dates in a row and didn't contact us once.  Show details

If you are moving to C5 Campbell use Allied Pickfords – We moved from our large house in Jerrabomberra to a new unit in the C5 complex. At both ends for the pack, upload, unload and unpack the AP team were first rate. Great care was taken with our valuable possessions. They were even responsive on the weekend to collect and remove all the boxes and packings. Great service all round and great value for money.  Show details ·  1

A smooth running operation – We relocated from Canberra to Melbourne. 1 bed apartment all packed ourselves we just needed the muscle. delivery address at the start of our move. In the end we didn't use the storage facilities. But knowing we only had to deal with one company if we needed it put our minds at ease.

Superb communication, we knew exactly what to expect every step of the way. No unexpected charges. Everything arrived intact. A friendly and professional service. I'd use Allied Pickfords again and will continue to recommend them.

Very happy – Our move was from a 4 bedroom house to an interstate storage unit. We did some of our own packing but Allied Pickford did fragile items and the kitchen area. This packing was done efficiently and in a friendly process. We haven't unpacked the boxes yet but hopefully everything is in good condition. The move was a little late in starting but we were kept informed. The arrival interstate was arranged at our convenience and went well.  Show details ·  1

A good move - no problems at all – Having moved many times I am very familiar with the process. The staff at Allied Pickfords in Canberra were very professional and helpful during the entire process. The only small negative was the lack of communication from the moving staff. I guess they have a job to do, but it is always good to talk to the client.  Show details ·  1

Terrible – I moved a houseful of furniture, etc from Coffs Harbour to Canberra. I had no complaints about the Coffs end - the quote was keen, and the whole process was managed professionally. The very pleasant and helpful moving team did their best to help me get everything packed on the day, going beyond what they had quoted for. But at the Queanbeyan end,… Read more

what a difference. They sent a foreman with two boys who chatted incessantly and weren't concentrating on what they were supposed to be doing. Very heavy boxes were dumped in the wrong room, despite clear labeling. Then, when all the furniture was inside, the foreman and one boy cleared off to another job, leaving the second boy to reassemble the three beds (a service I had paid for). He wrecked one bed so that it was unusable; also, my daughter's bed had several crucial bolts missing - and since it's a cabin bed (on "stilts"), this could resulted in severe injury to her if it had collapsed.

I had purchased Allied's own expensive insurance (through their parent company Sirva), but despite my putting in a claim promptly, I had to chase their Melbourne office over and over again, finally threatening legal action, before they finally paid up for the bed to be repaired.
