An amazing machine. Extend the basic Ankarsrum mixer to create endless possibilities with the many different appliance attachments that can be purchased with it. The main Ankarsrum mixer is very strong and robust and very stable when mixing heavy doughs and icing or buttercream mixtures compared to other stand mixers. It comes with two bowls. One large, stainless steel bowl where the dough roller and dough hook are used, along with the scraper attachment which helps scrape the sides and move the dough together. The roller can be pushed towards the middle to help mix your mixture to come together more quickly and then left to continue to knead. The stainless steel bowl turns and the rollers/ beater runs along the inside edge of the bowl, also turning. The smaller, clear bowl is used for beating and whipping softer mixtures. Here the bowl has a central pin where the whisks are attached and spin while the bowl remains still, like in a traditional stand mixer. In this bowl you can use the single wire beater which is great for cookie or thicker soft doughs. The multi wire whisks are for beating liquids, cake recipes, eggs and egg whites. The Ankarsrum mixer works differently to a regular stand mixer, but with some use you easily begin to understand and become more familiar with how to use it. Despite using a traditional stand mixer for years, I really enjoy and prefer the Ankarsrum over the popular American brand stand mixer that I have and still love. The Ankarsrum has a separate dial to turn the mixer on to run continuously and by turning further, you can activate the timer for the desired amount of minutes that you would like to keep it running and then turn off automatically. The dial on the right controls the speed. The instructions are very useful in understanding on what speed you should be using for different recipes, eg. heavy doughs are always mixed on the lower 3 speeds. The Stainless steel bowl also comes with a lid that slides into the bowl and helps retain heat and moisture to help when leaving doughs to rise or resting in the fridge. There's also a spatula included. All the other appliances can be purchased separately and many attach to a different part of the machine by turning it, onto its side. I have found the Ankasrum to be more quieter than my other stand mixer. It appears to be quality built with a lovely finish and many choices of colours available. I highly recommend this mixer which I'm sure you will enjoy and will last for years.

The best mixer – I love this mixer. It is not discontinued either so the title needs fixing. I purchased the Ankarsrum for sourdough which it does so easily. I can mix up 4 kgs of dough with the roller. It is gentle on the dough and build amazing glutin development. I use the Ankarsrum for everything I bake. It mixes meringue fast, large batches of cookie dough, everything I use a mixer for. Worth every cent and has a 7yr warranty. My Kenwood is now retired. The Ankarsrum comes in so many colours as well.
