Not Represented Properly! – My car had light damage, the other car needed more extensive repairs. I found communication with APIA completely hopeless. Nobody was interested to reply to emails . Finally I received a letter of demand from the solicitor of the other party. I used the details on the letter to call the solicitor who sent the letter. The solicitor for the other party then told me the matter had been paid for by APIA. So I was only finding out what was happening with my claim by contacting a solicitor acting for the other person. I complained to APIA that I did not believe the incident was my fault and felt my position had not been full represented then finally received an email response that my claim had been represented by a solicitor that I had never heard from or spoken to without being even notified and settled by APIA costing me my excess payment and no doubt compromising my future insurance status. IE: loss of no claims eligibility. My excess would have covered about 30% of the total claim based on the letter of demand amount and with my premium about half of the claim amount. I did not receive proper communications from APIA or acknowledgment of the special and specific circumstances of the incident I had sent emails detailing in fact the whole process was apparently handled in house at APIA without bothering to involve me or encourage me to fully outline what happened. So as a result I am left to complain that APIA was not really interested in taking care of my interests just minimising costs for their claims department at my current and future expense. Therefore they paid the claim but did not do so in an honourable way from my perspective. I believe It’s all about them not you! Beware.

Useless, on my fourth attempt to cancel this – Apia is absolutely useless. Trying to cancel the sane policy now for the fourth time....nobody can press the cancel button. They take money from an account they are told not to......just useless
