Wouldn't accept product more expensive "other insurers must have inferior product": not the case as quote was exact direct comparison with other companies. I obtained quotes from 15 insurers: Youi in most expensive third. Youi price only competitive with alternatives when excess was quadrupled. Representative pushy. with a hire car so our son could continue getting his hours up to get his licence as he is starting university an hour a way soon. We had that car for 4 weeks. The payout settlement was nothing spectacular but much more than we expected. The customer service provided by Maree was outstanding! Sierra was able to provide a better product that AAMI (third party fire and theft with $5k cover for my car (which is enough) at approximately $60 cheaper than AAMI! $60 cheaper sure beats the loyalty tax I was paying with AAMI for the last 4 years. I hope Sierra is provided some commission for her outstanding customer service skills, including being empathetic to my current financial circumstances.

up on just reading online. Her approach was calm, thorough and professional, which made the whole process really smooth.
Coming from a service business myself, I respect that kind of effort. I had my certificate of currency within five minutes and everything just worked the way it should.
On price, it stacked up well too. Even after factoring in the online discount, it ended up 25 dollars a month cheaper than my old policy and included roadside assist.
Because of the service I received, I’ll also be moving my second car policy over to Youi.

My car insurance is coming due and my insurance company wants to apply a “loyalty tax” by increasing the premium by around 10%. So I (re)started looking around, with Youi high on my list as I’m retired and near shops and hence don’t do much mileage.
The Youi site asked all the normal insurance questions, so they had the same amount of data that all insurance companies use to determine a premium. However, unlike all of the other companies that I’d checked, they didn’t throw up a screen with my quote, they didn’t email me a quote. Instead, they phoned me, which left a message on my computer screen when I didn’t answer. I’m effectively deaf (which is why I didn’t answer), so I responded by text asking them to either message or email.
Black hole. Nothing.
So .. Youi had the same (and extra) data that other companies used to issue a quote, but insisted by their actions that they require a salesperson talk to the potential customer.
Extrapolation - pure conjecture on my part so take it with a (large) grain of salt. The only reason I could come up with is that their business model is based on the sale being closed by the salesperson, not by the actual cost of the product (despite their current advertising campaign claiming it to be low cost). That implies that their sales team is staffed with (tongue in cheek here) “used car salesmen” (working mainly on commission?).
I don’t want to be worked over by a salesperson, and I consider the business model of requiring that I do so to be unethical, hence the low star rating.
Car was damaged at the repair shop Youi appointed to us(only option). When complained, Youi refused and blamed on us as the normal tear and wear, where the damage was clearly marked new and fresh. It took them 6 weeks to respond. It seems the company does not care much about their customers, and they pick dodgy repair shops with sub standard workmanship for better financial gain. YOUI tried to scam me last year my ctp was $331 this year it jumped to $580 so I done a compare website with all my details an YOUI came back with $431 I contacted them an was told no $580 no help at all anyways I found it for $390 so happy days. comparison website so shop around people i saved $190 not using YOUI they are over charging an don't care I'm a pensioner an they think $250 a 75% increase from last year is reasonable total scammers stay away from YOUI

drive had to be repeated three times eg for assessment, drop off for repair and then pick up.
When I arrived to pick up the car after repair I was taken to my car in the pouring rain to review the work. Just try inspecting new paint in the rain, and see if you can assess it properly. I got soaked having to get on my hands and knees to inspect the repairs underneath the car. After all this I pointed out that the repair was not done properly (an incorrect trim colour, black not silver had been fitted) and I was left standing in the rain while they went off to investigate why the repair hadn’t been done properly. The repairer apologised and said they will get the correct trim in and I can just “drop by” to have it fitted. So this will mean a fourth trip of around two hours to get a piece of trim replaced that should have been picked up as incorrect during the ordering process or at least at the quality control stage of repair.
Youi may be cheap but l’ll be shopping around next time to select an insurer that provides choice of repairer.
Follow-up · I was only given two repairer options, one at Marrickville and the other at Condell Park, both are on the other side of the city to me. Booking process was via a phone call to the repairer Youi provided a rental car at no cost to me.

The person had no idea how to comunicate and reinforced my impression of the unbusinesslike nature of this company. This was followed up by a complaints review - unread and deleted. Staff are unfit for the job.
Follow-up · The communication continued to be juvenile, amounting to no faith in this company. Since the original review the company has hassled me over the review, ringing at unsuitable times - these children have forgotten there is a major time difference between east and west. I don't know who the agent is. The staff had names like Icky and Bek. I never spoke to a normal person there.

initially my insurance has been OK, but some how there was an auto renewal set up. i never received and notices and woke this morning with a massive credit card bill. the Insurance and company are fine but the auto renewal should not be activated unless the client responds. while it was rectified quickly I'm still giving 2 stars for the shear shock of the charge. completed the quote because I was curious and after the whole calling thing I didn't really want to go with them anyway. But since then they're telling marketers have continued to call me even though I have clearly stated I'm not interested. Their coverage and price was terrible, and their business practices pitiful.
