Check your goods before leaving – ARC Computers is going through a major transformation. All branches have closed and business has moved back to their Silverwater office So the Penrith store is now closed .. the last thing I bought here was a wired network adapter for only $13, I needed 3 but it was the last one they had in stock .. When I got home the adapter I bought from ARC… Read more

A few months ago i returned, with the receipt, the computer memory i brought – Long story short, i went to their Penrith branch to buy some RAM. when i entered there was no one out front, it took a minute of calling out for an employee to respond (JUST to respond) and a further two minutes for them to come out from out back. one of them employees was fairly responsive and attentive while the other was very disinterested and… Read more

out of focus; i had to repeat what i said several times to get a proper response from the latter.

So i brought the 16GB Kingston HyperX Fury memory sticks for around $250. Got home and shortly after installing them my computer experienced crashing and freezing. 3 days later when my schedule allowed it i returned to the store with the memory sticks and receipt looking to get either a refund or a replacement. After being informed that they had no more of the 16GB Kingston HyperX Fury sticks i opted for the refund. I'm informed that they need to actually determine if the memory is faulty or not, I'm told it's gonna take a week MAX. no sweat, i can keep using my old memory until that point. A week later i call up to see how it's progressing and I'm told they need more time. Another week later, I'm told the same thing. The THIRD week i have to show up in person to the store because they won't answer my calls (during business hours in the middle of the day). I confront them and both of the employees from earlier are being very passive-aggressive with me on the issue. I ask for the number for the store owner/their superiors, they refuse and insist i leave which i end up doing since i had to leave for work. This goes on for the next few months with it ending after they threaten to call the police if i keep showing up to their store.

and now i find out that their penrith branch is closed and the store is moved out all the way to Silverwater? are you kidding me?

NEVER got my refund of $250. i ending up buying the same product from another local store cheaper + didn't break within the day. 0/10 terrible store.

I knew what part i wanted but was refused – RAM was faulty so i took my computer to ARC told the manager that I'm sure its the RAM but works on and off. Went back to get my computer and they said it was the hard drive! I knew it wasn't the hard drive and the guy said i knew my stuff and was surprised because he said i looked like a typical Australian worker who smokes and does dirty jobs!!… Read more

They Lost Me – Had a few computer repairs done at Penrith ARC store with no problems. Latest expensive HP laptop died just after warranty as they are not much good like they used to be. Request was to repair and retrieve my data. As a sporting shooter and hunter I had lots of shooting stuff. The nerd that did the job must have been an anti and deleted… Read more

No doubt to make up for the lost time he did a quick auto back up resulting in every file copied in triple.

Took me weeks and weeks of sessions deleting all the copies.

Didn't complain, just never went back.

Just seen these reports and thought I will help let others know how bad the staff are.

Motherboard replacement – Took my computer in to have it checked as monitors had no display. Paid $30 for testing and was advised that motherboard needs replacing. Went ahead and had them replace the motherboard. I asked for my original motherboard back as it was still under warranty - so I sent it to manufacturer to get a refund, however, they tested it and said it… Read more

worked perfectly fine. I called ARC computers back and advised them that they replaced the motherboard for nothing as it is working perfectly fine according to the manufacturer. [name removed] from ARC computers asked me to bring it back in and he will test it while I wait - and guess what! It worked perfectly fine. So, I paid $30 for testing, $249 for new motherboard and labour costs and postage to send my original motherboard back (that was supposedly not working) back to the manufacturer, all for NOTHING. Total waste of time and money. I took the technician's word (after all they are the professionals) Very disappointed that they can do that to a customer. Will not go there again and most definitely not recommend them after having such a misleading experience.

No Complaints – Reading here have my anxiety and regret I was going to expect mediocre services. I was expecting a rally of back and forth calls to check for stock levels and expecting my stock to be on backorder a month later. That was not the case, so I am writing g this to tell people that I was one of the customers that received a pretty straight forward… Read more

Worst kind of product. To top it up worst kind of servicing staff – I purchased brand new hard drive for my surveillance recorder. This hard drive did not work. Want to feel degraded and looked at like you're a piece of crap? Go to this place – By far one of the worst shops I've ever been do. All I wanted was my laptop fixed. I took it in and was barely greeted, just asked what I wanted. Looked at like I was nobody. My gut told me to leave but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They said they'd get back to me and my computer would be fixed in 3-5 days. They said they'd contact me. Two… Read more

weeks later, still no word. I ring and am answered by a rude guy who insists they tried finding solution. Then I dreadfully walk into the store. I'm barely acknowledge and treated like I'm dirt. No apology for no contact or anything. I asked for an apology and the guy made a lang excuse then looked sideways at me. The worst customer service I have come across in Penrith! Absolutely disgusting. The staff are incredibly rude!!!! Never again.

Very good prices – Overall nice people to deal with, online or at the Penrith store 3 cases of their customer service: - noisy Corsair PSU replaced asap - a Noctua fan got noisy after a few weeks - they replaced it no problem - Corsair H100 leaked 3+ years into it's 5 year warranty - after some argy-bargy they replaced it with a larger H110 as the H100 was… Read more ·  1

I also use (line up at) MSY at Auburn - but usually only when ARC don't have stock of an item I need

Good in-store. Rubbish for online – I've bought from these guys in-store for the best part of 10 years and never had an issue, last week I was short on time so decided to try online. First of all, there is surcharges every step of the way. Paypal has a surcharge, Credit Card has a surcharge, the only way around it is to pay with direct deposit which would probably take days to… Read more

clear. They also insist that you pay their "shipping insurance" and state quite clearly that if you don't pay for this and your item goes missing, tough titties. So after adding all these charges and seeing that my bargain item was now on par with bigger name stores, I clicked submit and assumed I'd have my item within a couple of days (same state postage). Well that was Thursday, and my item arrived Wednesday the following week. Customer service neglects to update Order Status page, and fails to provide tracking details until the item has already been delivered. This kind of service might have been ok 10 years ago, but not now. Not when I can order parts from a well known store that sells PC case gear and other assorted items, and have the item delivered next business day from INTERSTATE!

Pray you never have a faulty item – Purchased a set of speakers from them and from the beginning had a bad feeling about it as the box was not sealed and look like it was previously returned product (I cannot verify this but that was the feeling I had). After 1 month had to go back to return the speakers as they had several issues. I was told that because I had them for a month… Read more

already I couldn't get a refund and they had to be sent to the manufactured to be checked, I told them that was alright as the speakers are faulty. Originally I was told that it would take about two weeks to get a response. Now is week 5 and still haven't got neither a refund or replacement.

I have called them several times and they can't never give a straight answer, they keep increasing the time to get a response and keep giving different stories. Also every time I contact them they get ruder and ruder and never acknowledge the agreements spoken from previous conversations leaving you as a liar.

Still have no date on when this is going to be solved as they keep telling they will contact me.

Will never be back – Spent $3000 on a new computer from the Liverpool store. I found the staff friendly enough but once I took the computer home it's been nothing but hassles, didn't work out of the box, issues with the graphics card. later found out that the parts I was recommended and sold were known to clash with one another. This made the computer very unstable. I also paid for 8 gigs of ram and received 4.

Wouldn't buy a computer from them again, I've learned my lesson. Staff were OK to deal with Put together a computer with incompatible parts, missing ram.

Do not buy from them! – I have spent over 3 thousand dollars at this store and have had nothing but problems. I gave them part numbers from their website and was still sold incorrect parts. I have purchased a "brand new" hard drive that had a rusty pcb board and died a week later. I purchased a "brand new" performance power supply that lasted a month and staff… Read more

tried every trick they could think of to avoid replacing it. I literally had to shout to get it replaced under warranty.

I purchased a blu-ray burner that I didnt use for 6 months (waited for writeable bluray discs to get cheaper) then tried to use it and discovered that they had given me a read only drive. they had sneakily given me the model below the one that I had paid for which had a single digit different from the one thst I paid for. I couldnt tell it was read only as it wasnt printed on the actual drive.

I took the drive back with the receipt and suprise suprise they tried every trick to avoid responsibility. everything from they couldnt find the part in their system (even though I gave them the receipt) to it was too long ago to swap over.

The bottom line is DONT BUY FROM ARC PENRITH!!!! you have been warned....

they will try to sell you/give you something other than what you paid for and WONT HELP YOU IF YOU HAVE WARRANTY or any other problem!!!!! be prepared for problems and arguments!!!!

Favourite computer store(s) in Sydney – I purchase about 90% of my computer parts and accessories from ARC (mostly Penrith, sometimes Parramatta) and have nothing but praise for them. Prices are generally some of the lowest in Sydney, and being able to check if they have stock online, and at which store, is great. Staff that I have dealt with have always been most helpful and… Read more

knowledgable. It doesn't matter if you are buying a $5 USB Bluetooth dongle or $1000 worth of components, the service is always excellent. Helpful and knowledgable staff, good prices, ability to check stock online.

Can you have minus Stars? – After returning a faulty router and threatening action with Office of Fair Trade and Pay Pal to receive a refund, I received a refund, less a $10 restocking fee. I was told that if I wanted my $10 back I would have to get a return Authorisation number from the product manufacturer. I did same and they happily sent me one five minutes later. … Read more

ARC then demanded a $50 fee for processing the warranty claim which would be refunded if the product was actually faulty, or kept by them if it was not. This is of course after paying $25 postage to get the product, $10 to return it and another $10 restocking fee (because they want to process my refund as a "wrong product choice" claim, instead of a warranty claim).

When I complained, I was told to shop at a bigger store like Myer or Harvey Norman where I would pay twice the price the price!!. ARC's email address and file of rude emails now resides comfortably in my spam folder where it belongs.

Customer Service was Disgusting towards Disabled paying customer at Penrith store – I have spent allot of money at arc (especially the Penrith store), as have other members of my family, over 10k. To my dismay, tho not surprised as arc is not renound for their customer service, I was unnecessarily treated what I would classify as dirt... This matter was over a simple $4.00 cable. I would defiantly say it was the manager that… Read more

sold it to me and then served me again when I went back to tell him that this cable was not included in a USB 3.0 case i bought from them. Now he quote "promised" that the cable was included. When I got home it wasn't! Now, I have a disability, so getting out very much or even dealing with those kind of things is just generally out of my capability. When I was able to get back to the shop, somewhere between 3-4 weeks later, he just said no, no, no, no, no.... like it was my fault. My fault that the product he sold me wasn't what he promised it to be... I couldn't believe it as when i asked him to just sell me one... he also said no.... I even explained to him my circumstances, and it was if he was on a power trip....like a bouncer at a night club.... do you not want my money arc?

Yes they are cheap, but if you can't go back to them with any issues that arrives from the products you bought from them, why go to them? What if it were a whole computer or a huge storage array....

Bottom dollar, you can't trust that you'll get any kind of service at all nor can u trust that you will get any after market care whatsoever.

For the record I walked up the road to DSE and met a really helpful guy who took me out on the floor and found the cable I was looking for, even said to me "if it's the wrong one just bring it back, no problems at all."

I don't understand how big corporate companies can be so nice and helpful, when they don't have to be as they have already pretty much corned the market, yet a small business like arc, let their stores operate however the hell they want.....tell me, is that where the economy is at? I don't think so...

Look for an alternative on simple website like shopbot!

Rude, Obnoxious, Uncaring, Does not care for repeat business, only the dollar.

Hopeless service – Hopeless is all I can say, When I went and bought an MSi GT780 gaming laptop I thought I would be able t oget parts for it when i needed them or at the very least, be able to get a store to get the parts I needed in.. Well as it turned out, I needed a new hard drive bracket for the second drive bay.. been looking everywhere for one, Then… Read more

found ARC.. and saw a sticker on the door that made me sigh in relief ..well that was untill I stepped in their door ..

On the door was a sticker saying MSI Authorized dealer, when i went inside, and mentioned what i needed, they asumed it was for a desktop/minitower when I had clearly given them the make and model of the laptop.. when i repeated it .. they looked at me dumb founded and as if i didnt know what i was talking about..

when i politely asked if they could get that part in.. they said no. .when i asked why.. they didnt answer at first and then said because they only deal in desktop computers.. I pointed out they had and MSi Authorized Dealer sticker on the door though still did nothing..

Poor service and they dont care about the customer unless they have what you need in stock. at a last ditched attempt I even asked if they might of had an alternative part that might fit the latop and they still looked dumbfounded.

Poor customer service, Dont expect to get what your looking for just because they have a sticker on the door claiming they are Authorized, Would not explain why they only deal partly in computers and not completly like you would expect a competent computer shop to do.

Never again. Ever – I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of goods from these people, and was a regular customer. Key word: was. Most of the time, price and stock were acceptable. But their incompetence when it comes to basic retail service principles is truly breathtaking. On no less than three occasions, they have screwed up my orders which resulted in… Read more

them chasing me up almost incessantly to reclaim their lost goods, and me having to bear the cost, time and stress in driving hours just to give it back to them. Yet when I ask for a simple refund via back transfer, it seems too difficult for them to take any time less than a whole fortnight. And the usual excuses and finger-pointing, which are almost as comical as they are revealing of their sheer incompetence.

This level of apathy and complete indifference is a very common occurrence in this dying retail sector, and will be its undoing by decade's end - proof of which can be seen by the diverging share price of Apple compared to Microsoft.

These small retail businesses are convinced that despite their slim profit margins, they can bully and treat customers like pawns. Unfortunately, the majority of these sort of shops want nothing more than your money and to see you swiftly disappear. Perhaps that is the reason why no-one wants to buy PC parts anymore, let alone PCs. Frankly, I give up too. The "humble" PC (and PC shop) is dead. A few cents cheaper than the better competition Incompetent staff. No service culture.
