My experience with the Asko heat pump dryer has not been good. I’ve had it for a couple of years now and the entire time the pump has been an issue. Asko have fixed it but never replaced the pump and it continues to be an issue now that the dryer is out of warranty. The machine stops multiple times through a drying cycle requiring the water… Read more
container to be emptied but there’s actually no water in the container. This makes using the dryer very difficult as you consistently have to check that it’s still running during what should be a normal cycle I would not recommend buying one of these dryers.
We recently purchased the Asko 8kg heat pump dryer. Because it’s summer we haven’t had as much of an opportunity to use it, except when it’s been rainy days. It’s cool that it has a light inside the machine so you can see what’s going on. I wasn’t impressed with the bed function – sheets and doona still got twisted into a ball, and the time it… Read more
said it would take wasn’t accurate. I started a load of washing based on the dryer telling me there was 40 minutes left on the cycle it was doing. I ended up doing two 30 minute washing cycles and the dryer was still going! Quite a bit of lint ends up collecting outside the lint collector, even when we religiously empty it after every use. Using the auto dry function there haven’t been any issues. Don't let the sales people sell you the silicone mat you can get to go between an Asko washer and dryer - you don't need it to stack them!
Bought a few years ago noisy as hell and tangles bed sheets Show details
When dryer works it does a good job, cycles can be long but works. Unfortunately the parts are cheap with the latch not working as soon as machine arrived. They have replaced twice but has failed for a third time. They talk about upper management decision but won’t have upper management contact me. This will be my fourth latch in 9 months and them… Read more
seeing no issue with plastic parts that break within months of replacing. Not happy with customer service or quality of machine for cost.
Shrinks clothes like no other dryer does – We replaced our 7 year dryer. My biggest concern was clothes shrinking, sales assistants at multiple stores told us we would have no issues with this dryer, it was one of the best on the market. This dryer shrinks our clothes worse than cheaper heat pump dryers on the market and even worse than our old dryer. So disappointed in the results… Read more
considering how much we paid and the reputation ASKO has.
Also very disappointed with Customer service when we had an issue with the dryer the first week of owning it.
[Content Removed] – I was looking for a dryer that rolls all the washing into a ball where after 3hrs burning through a ton of electricity the outside is crispy and inside is still as damp as when it went in, so this suited my needs perfectly Show details
Happy Customer – I’ve had my asko washing machine & dryer for 7 years I live in a apartment I wash & dry everything thing with my washing machine & dryer. I have had good after sales service in Melbourne. Victoria. Australia Absolutely love them both Show details
Bad experience! – The worst clothes dryer I've ever seen in my life! Show details
Disappointed customer – I have had Asko washing machines and dryers for the last 25 years but unfortunately they don’t seem to make these products like they use to. It’s a real shame I didn’t do my research and read reviews before my purchase. My dryer has stopped working for a month now. Asko’s maintenance rep/agent is difficult to get hold off as well. I’m still… Read more
waiting for Askos maintenance service agent to fix it. Meanwhile we have been affected by the 2 cyclones; Jasper and Kirrlily and I’ve had to spend money going to the laundromat to dry all my laundry which is both time consuming and a hassle not to mention money spend.
Happy after 18 months – I'm surprised by some of the reviews, I bought this as a matching pair with the washing machine last year for our euro laundry and 18 months in, have had no issues. Main selling point for us was to get heat pump to keep our electricity bills down and also reduce humidity and moisture in our small townhouse. It reduced moisture in air dramatically… Read more
compared to our old dryer. We have since moved and have a separate laundry room and we never get any condensation. Our electrical bills are also a lot less than in our old house...this is not entirely down to the dryer but it's played a role. We now have solar so mostly try to use during daylight hours. The heat pump requires emptying every wash or so (the machine prompts you) but it's super easy, the machine also has the ability to plumb in the water waste but we haven't bothered.
It's really easy to use and has a good range of flex drying options. I notice other reviews talk about 'tangled mess' particularly for bedding but using Bedding setting sorts this out as it takes turn in spinning direction. The heat pump is meant to be gentler on your clothes. I have a heap of merino and wool clothes as well as linen clothing and bedding and majority of the time,I put them thru washer (30 degrees) and dryer. The lint filter is easy to clean - my husband says it's the easiest to clean out of any previous dryers. The only downside I can think of is it's slightly louder than our old dryer. In our old house it was noticeable due to open plan layout but not an issue in our new place. Regardless, I would still get the heat pump over conventional dryer so definitely not a deterrent...just thought I'd mention in case that's an important consideration.
I wrote about the washer already but given we had euro laundry that was part of our kitchen, it was also important to me that the machine looked good - the digital screens definitely help reduce visual clutter and I think the set looks great together.
While Asko was on the pricier side, my husband's mate is in the business of repairs / services and said the brand was generally well made and he didn't see many issues. This was a useful recommendation and helped us justify the cost. I did get these while they had a promotion on so saved a fair bit off RRP. Overall i'm really happy with performance over past 18 months, it's a quality machine, easy to use and looks great.
Should be better – Unfortunately you don’t get what you pay for here. The dryer is extremely slow and not ideal for a big family. Auto cycle is over 3 hours long. I wish I didn’t purchase this product. Show details
No issues – I've had this dryer for 4 years now. Had one issue just as the warranty was ending at the two year mark, (l'd justed the settings by mistake) but Asko was fabulous and came out to review the machine twice for free after the warranty period and resolved the issue. It did roll my laundry until l figured that you need to use the correct program to… Read more
avoid this. I don't even turn on the fan as there's zero dampness in my laundry when the machine is running and the washing usually comes out bone dry. Only down side is programs are on the longish side.
ASKO Heat Pump Butterly Drying Clothes Dryer - useless – Soooo disappointed…it just rolls everything into a ball and even after constant opening to untangle clothes they still don’t dry. I have tried “dryer balls” , but they don’t help either. Is ok for small items , but useless for bedding & towels etc. Have resorted to trying to dry one item at a time & still takes forever & constant untangling…..and… Read more
that is after they have been on the line & just damp. Complete waste of lots of money. I have had ASKO washing machines over the last 30 years & they were fantastic, so bought an ASKO washer & matching dryer. The washing machine is not nearly as good as my old one & the dryer is useless.

ASKO T408HD Heat Pump Dryer - Don't Buy – I've owned the new dryer for one week only then the "Please empty the tank before resuming a cycle" keeps appearing and then "Error 3" message started today. The tank is not collecting water at all when I tried to empty it.. I've cleaned the filters etc. but still the messages keep appearing. I have just placed a service call. For that sort of… Read more
money paid for a new dryer, you won't expect things to go wrong after 1 week. Seriously ASKO, be better!!!!!!! if I could give 0 start, I would.
Do not buy this product. Waste of money – Does not dry eg. over 3 hours and small load is still damp with condensation covering the “window”. Sheets and doonas (eg) ball into an almost impossible to untangle twisted mess. To boot, it isn’t quietly INEFFECTIVE as it sounds like a 747 taking off…. Complete waste of money as it doesn’t do, in a reasonable time, what it it supposed to do -… Read more
dry. Different settings don’t change the fact it’s not drying…..auto dry options just keep extending drying times and go on and on and on and on. Asko Australia Customer Care an absolute disgrace. Waited 1 hour to get through then after explaining my issue the girl put me through to Extended Warranty (it’s 6 weeks old) and when they tried to put me back to Asko 1 minute later they had closed…..Think Asko’s “courteous and professional” customer “care” girl flipped me off so she could go home. When Asko can be bothered caring for me I will be asking for a refund and for them to take the waste of our hard earned money away.
Avoid this dryer and Asko in general – Had previously had an Asko washer and a separate dryer for ~10 years. Even though we had several service calls over their life, water leaks, rusting and corrosion, squeaking noises, we thought we would give them another go. This dryer was installed by the delivery crew on top of a new Asko front loader with an Asko helper, it kept moving and… Read more
they were to come fix it (two person job), no one ever showed. The dryer is really bad for lint collection, all around the door seal and it gets jammed between the door and its glass. The lint filter is always cleaned (which is not as easy as the older model), yet the problem keeps happening. Called to get refund (took hours on the phone) and for these units to be removed, got an email the same day, but now two weeks later even though we have followed up there is still silence. Terrible service. Purchased with additional warranty.
Good machine, terrible service! – The machine itself whilst it works is absolutely fantastic, worked well for about 15 months and then suddenly the drum stopped rotating. Called the service Center, the tech was booked to come in 2 weeks later! The tech arrived looked at the machine for 5 minutes and then said that he has to order parts and the service centre will make another… Read more
booking when the parts arrive. It’s been 3 weeks and I am without a dryer, normally it would have been ok as we don’t use the dryer in warmer months but in the middle of winter with the little one’s nappies and clothes to wash and dry every couple of days it’s a bit much!
Don't waste your money – Worse dryer I have ever owned. 2.5 years old and it has had 5 visits in the past month to fix it as it keeps cutting out mid cycle and no one can fix it. Apart from that it rolls sheets and towels into a ball and does not dry them. Even an average load of clothes takes 2 cycles to dry them properly. The best thing about it? Its getting collected when my new dryer arrives. Never again would I buy an Asko! Show details
Butterfly Drying? – I have thrown out my previous condensor Asko dryer as it steamed up the room and made my clothes smell. I have purchased this latest heat pump model thinking it was the best on the market?? It definately doesnt steam up or heat my laundry and I assume it is energy efficient until I see my next bill. I am extremely dissapointed when drying towles… Read more
or bed sheets. It continuously rolls them in to ball, only drying the outside and leaving the middle of the pile wet!! How is this 'Butterfly Drying'? It needs to go both directions, but doesnt.
T408HD which is the 8 kg – Excellent dryer, 1 of few that the drum spins clockwise and anti-clockwise, so no balling sheets. spent alot of time on Product Review researching heat pump dryers, and many have bad reviews. asko was Great. Yes cost more, but when you divide it into the years of ownership and the savings in electricity, WORTH EVERY $ Show details
