Loving my new little house aka Atlas granny flat – The build was straightforward and well managed from start to finish; I am very happy with the workmanship and build quality, and any issues identified during the process were handled quickly, professionally and to my satisfaction. The final cost was less than the estimated cost even though due to corona virus two of my choices had to be replaced… Read more · 1
with upgrades. Of particular note is the patience all staff showed me, especially Mark Taylor and Jeremy Dossor, during what ended up being a two year project, from conception to moving in.
Job completed, I am happy – Additional notes - Job completed. I am happy with the results. Remember to be strong and say what you need as you will be using your house for a long time. Began with two star rating... A difficult journey. My simple one room studio is almost complete. [name removed] (at Cavan) was wonderful in doing the design, patient and was a good listener,… Read more
but it was a pity that the ideas were not picked up by the designers. There were a million and one things to think about, and I thought I managed to keep on top of all of them, so I thought...
Simple studio, what could go wrong? No bathroom, no kitchen... Just a single room.
The difficult thing was there was no 3D design available, thus I had to try to imagine everything on paper in 2D, and now the manhole will be covered by the cupboards that I planned to put in right from the start. Very annoying. A few other issues also have surfaced...
I did not get to meet with the site manager, [name removed], at all. I was late to the first meeting (which is unusual for me, but my toddler son was a challenge that day) and he had already left. It will be the first time I get to see him at the pre-handover...
My advise for people looking to build is to have the consultant/designer, and builder/site manager as the same person if possible. (There is no point in talking to the Atlas site manager as his hands are tied to the design).
Then to see the design in 3D (it is too easy to miss things on 2D. If my simple room has caused problems, what will it be like with a house?). Check things through thoroughly, (I thought I did) and just wait, and check again, got through every single point (though many are not relevant to me). Get another expert to check it you can… And good luck!
Volume builder. That says it all – Atlas, or Sarah Homes, or Longridge, or Gallery Living, oh wait, they are all the same thing, but also different just to complicate things, have serious problems with their inter-departmental communication among other things. I wonder why, when their are four different entities under the same name doing the same thing in the same way under a… Read more
different name. I feel dizzy just thinking about their structure. These guys just finished building our granny flat which took 4 months. However, it could have been finished in at least 3 months, however, at one stage, no tradesman turned up for 6 weeks. We don’t know why, as our construction manager never contacted us during the entire build. Trying to get hold of him was near on impossible. There are so many things they will not do compared to a custom builder, such as put coverings on the floor so it doesn’t get covered in plaster, paint and other stains, which our concrete floor is full of. The electrical company they use charged us $550 to put in two powerpoints, which is a complete rip off and that company also has serious issues particularly with its management or lack there of. Our site supervisor was very good but very hard to get hold of as he was managing around 30 other projects at the same time. Once again these volume builders, specifically their management or leadership or lack of it have no idea what is going on at the coal face. From my observations the site supervisor did not have enough hours in the day to attend to all emails and messages from all his different projects. This demonstrates a lack of connect between poor management and what’s going on on the ground. It would appear to me this Organization is more concerned with profit or greed than providing more site supervisors to manage a large number of projects. I think management is out of step with what is really going on and need to provide the appropriate resources to ensure the whole process is less stressful and frustrating. Until then, I would recommend avoiding this builder until they can provide basic decency and courtesy to the customer during a build.
Excellent service fast construction good price – I am very happy with Atlas living. The friendly sales man was very patient, did a few changes for my backyard granny flat floor plan without any extra charges. He set up a very clear budget list for me. There was no any hiding fees. During the construction time, site supervisor was always open to communicate. The tradies were very professional. By the end the quality building costs even less than my set up budget. I highly recommend Atlas living. Show details · 1

building manager ensured the process went smoothly and the trades were great at their jobs and extremely considerate of our existing home. We would build with this team again in blink and are loving our home and are so grateful for this positive experience.
A wonderful asset – We had a fully self contained studio with decking built in our suburban backyard. We thought the project was well managed and ran on time. We made lots of changes to the original plans and the initial estimate from the sales person was very accurate. The workmen were courteous and kept the area as tidy as possible. We think the finished product is fantastic and it fits beautifully within our garden. A wonderful asset to family life. Show details
Easy to live in – Although the house is only two bedrooms, it is very compact and well designed with no wasted space. I was able to make any changes I wanted right up to the last minute. All the people I dealt with were very helpful, especially the salesperson, who made the decision making process quite enjoyable. The quality of workmanship is excellent and the house is comfortable and really easy to live in. Show details
Stylish and value for money two bedroom home – Excellent service throughout the build process. Design for the situation of the building in relation to our existing dwelling was done by the original consultant and because of that very clever initial work the structure really compliments our existing home. The company offers an extensive building and colour schedule. Choices for bathroom and… Read more
