Unfortunately, the installation was not set up correctly initially. From day one, I noticed that the FoxESS app was not displaying energy flows correctly and my EV charger could only draw power from the grid. I spent considerable time troubleshooting the issue and communicating with the company. And by the way the installer insisted that I twice asked for my EV charger to be on a separate controlled load, which was a total lie and the company believed him and were not going to correct the system, until I was able to show my front door camera footage to reveal a different conversation with the installer!

The biggest frustration was that I repeatedly suggested the CT clamp installation should be checked (thanks Chat GPT for pointing this out!) However I was initially told the problem was likely related to app configuration rather than the wiring. After several weeks, a service electrician attended and simply repositioned the CT clamp within the switchboard. This immediately fixed the issue and the system began operating exactly as intended. I said it can't be the app, otherwise me and everyone else would know and it would be updated, I insisted that it had something to do with the CT Clamp! And so he simply repositioned the CT clamp (downstream instead of upstream) within the switchboard. This immediately fixed the issue and the system began operating exactly as intended. My app suddenly changed all its readings and is now working as it should.

To Aus Solar Energy Group's credit, they eventually sent someone out to rectify the problem and did not charge for the service visit. However, the delay and difficulty in getting the issue acknowledged was disappointing.

Overall, the final system is excellent and I am happy with its performance. I have a 5.5kw array which fills up the battery easily over 2 sunny QLD days, I can top up the EV at night and start the whole process again in the morning. In hindsight a slightly bigger array, say 10-11kw would be ideal for my set up (all electric kitchen, AirCon/heating, 60Kw EV) but we get along fine on 5.5, and on cloudier days I can top up the battery via Amber Power for say 4-8c per Kwh and sell it back at night for maybe 9-14c per Kwh.

But I would encourage the company to improve commissioning checks and post-installation support, particularly when integrating batteries, solar systems and EV chargers, and learn about positioning CT Clamps!! A simple wiring issue should not have taken several weeks to resolve.

Whole process was good from the start. Brendon a real pleasure to work with, very responsive and gave best price possible from the start with no need to haggle. Installation was all done way before I expected and quality product. The install team were fantastic, arrived on time before 9am and handed over by 3pm. the top. When reported, they said my house slab was too thin. They did not supply me with a response to my request for installation procedures in the case of ‘thin concrete’. The installer rushed off to the next job when the problems were brought up.

The team was very professional, Alex the leader, top tradesman ( sparky) the finished product looks excellent, Alex gave a detailed account on how to operate the system, I'll probably forget by tomorrow. punctual, friendly, professional and efficient. Although the job was quite difficult as it is a two- story house, the whole installation process was very smooth. The installation day is delayed by two weeks. Still acceptable due to Christmas and new year holiday. The salesperson is responsive and helpful. The technicians are really efficient and get the job done in 3.5 hours. Also patient to explain how the battery and the app work. Highly recommend.
