I’ve been living with this dehumidifier for a while now, and honestly, it’s a total beast. If you’ve ever dealt with that "basement smell" or soggy windows, this thing is a life-changer. I love the convenience of the Wi-Fi app for remote monitoring and the continuous drainage option, which saves me from manually emptying the tank every few hours… Read more

given its massive extraction power. However, it is a heavy unit that can be difficult to move on carpeted floors, the fan is quite loud on its highest setting, and the water tank design can be a bit fiddly to remove without occasional spills.

Despite these minor quirks, its sheer performance and smart features make it a reliable, high-capacity solution for anyone serious about moisture control

I am a great supporter of AusClimate and own nearly all of their dehumidifiers. Since I needed some extra dehumidifiers I bought the New 25, 35 and Large +45 dehumidifiers. The dehumidifiers are very stylish and much more quiet than the older ones.… Read more

Also, it seems the heat they produce is much less. However, comparing all of them, for me the Large +45 is the worse and the least value for money. We recently had a water pipe busted and I put the dehumidifier to dry the carpet. After 6 hours I didn't notice any difference. Then I pulled the old 50L All season Dehumidifier and in 4 hours the carpet was crispy dry. What I also noticed is the fact that the water container is the same size as the 35 L. I am not sure about the difference in the power between them but a part of the different distribution of the buttons, they seem to be identical. I totally agree with other reviewer who would rather buy the older 50L Al season dehumidifier on discounted price than this new version.

Follow-up  · What was the customer service like? It is a new Dehumidifier, and I have not used the service yet. As I mentioned in my review I am a big supporter of AusClimate and apart of the old NWT 20L Model which fortunately was pulled out of the market, the other AusClimate dehumidifiers are well built and last. How was the warranty? The warranty is… Read more

I've owned 2 older AusClimate dehumidifiers (50 + 35 l models) since 2017; they're still going strong. I recently had some water damage in one of my properties after a massive hailstorm event in SEQ and needed more drying capacity, so I bought and added their latest 45 l model. This is my experience with it: The good: - does what it's supposed… Read more

to do

- quieter than the older models

- doesn't produce as much heat as the previous models

- is lighter than previous models and has a handle on top which makes carrying it up some stairs easier

The not so good:

- water reservoir design is plain st>pid compared to the older models. Next to impossible to remove and empty it without spilling water.

- while it comes with a short 10 mm hose for continuous operation, this seems to be working only in a passively gravity-driven way, i.e. the periphal end of the very short hose needs to be positioned lower than where it attaches to the device. That makes continous operation next to impossible to use. In contrast, the old 50 l unit came with a long hose (several m) and the water was actively pumped, so you could put it in a bathroom basin, laundry or kitchen sink while positioning the unit in the middle of the room.

- The new unit comes with Wifi connectivity, but you can only control it remotely when your device with the corresponding app is on the same Wifi-network, i.e. you cannot control it when you're away from home. When you use the unit in several places with different Wifi networks you need to manually configure and connect it each time again; it doesn't store Wifi settings for more than one network. In essence, this Wifi connectivity is utterly pointless and only does what a standard remote control would do. The real purpose here seems to be to have users install the app and mine their data. And of course, the app will only work if 'location' is enabled and access permitted...

In summary, improvements with weight, noise, and heat production which are unfortunately offset by other shortcomings, like very limited usability of continuous operation, bad water reservoir design, and pointless Wifi connectivity.

If I had the choice, I would rather have another older 50 l unit.

Edit 05Jan26 Did a calculation on the cost of electricity for this unit. It uses .610 kW, been running it 10 hours/day to get close to 45% humidity. For 90 days, 549 kWH at .35511/kWH (SEQ), calculates to ~ $200 over 3 months. Too much. the 45% is ideal, immediately adjusting up to 55%, noting that last year we had no dehumidification. reflect the unit now able tom get to 40% humidity. I have no idea why it wouldn't at first. *** Got the 45L ACD245 couple of weeks after the 20L ACD220, mid October. Surprised the ACD245 isn't that much bigger than the 220, but it is heavier. Easy moving on tiles thanks to the castors. Expected it to be the same as the 220, but it's not. Doesn't have eco mode, auto fan, swing vents. WIFI set up is much different to the 220, had to push a button on the 245. Got there eventually. Unit is for main open living area, Gold Coast Queensland. Unike the 220, the 245 unit is able to get below 50%, indeed it can get to the setting of 40%. In the morning it'll get from 65% to 55% in about 3 hours, then over the day to or below 50%. We just shut it off when it gets near 50%, by then it's pumping heat. No point in power consumption with marginal benefit. So it's on at 0700 (solar power alignment), but off by around 3 or 4pm. First use, has taken 2 days to fill the 5 litre tank (current humidity). Emptying the tank is awkward. Unlike the 220, you cannot remove the 245 lid because of the carrying handle design. You have to pour it out of an exposed corner where the float is, but if the tank is full, water will spill out from the lid seams. For me I'll just empty it over the pool. Into a sink or toilet will be messy. I still like the performance, but the ACD245 design isn't as refined as the ACD220, which is referred to as a "Smart" dehumidifier... the ACD245 is not. I still wanted this brand, and needed the high capacity....

Works greats. Removes an amazing amount of water each day. It was exactly what we needed. Only 4 starts because the compressor is noisy. And the dry air out is warmer than the ambient and thus it heats the room as well. Not a big deal in winter but it works against the air con in summer. Show details

Firstly, the unit came very well packaged. It is very sturdy (weighty) and is on casters for easy movement. loud. Good set of options for operation. The airstream is slightly heated on exit. The water collection tray is very accessible and easy to remove. There is a hose provided for optional permanent drailage. As it is winter at the moment, the humidity is quite low, but come spring / summer, the humidity is extreme here (mould to walls and leather goods, and musty smell to garments is the norm). This unit will be extremely useful as the humidity increases. A further review will be forthcoming.

Thanks to the AusClimate Ambassador Programme, I was lucky enough to be chosen to test (and keep) the AusClimate Large+ 45L dehumidifier for a few weeks in a Brisbane Winter in exchange for an honest review. A bit of background: This isn’t my first experience with AusClimate dehumidifiers. My mum bought one a few years ago, and I was so impressed… Read more

with hers that I ended up buying one myself — just a different size and model. Since then, I’ve been recommending them to anyone who’ll listen. Honestly, once you try a proper dehumidifier, you won’t go back to those little damp-rid containers from the hardware store. The amount of water they collect is laughable compared to the litres a day you’ll get from a machine.

I first purchased the white AusClimate Cool Seasons 10L desiccant dehumidifier because I wanted something portable for bedrooms, bathrooms, the garage, and drying the odd load of laundry in wet weather. I regularly use it to dry out the bathroom during and after a shower and also like that it gives off a bit of warmth, so it can warm the bathroom up a little before a shower. If you set the timer and run it for a couple of hours after a shower not only will it dry out the shower recess and tiles, it will even dry your bath towels for you!!

I’d always planned to get an additional bigger compressor model for the larger open plan living areas (because compressor models don’t warm the air like desiccant ones, so they’re better for warmer climates) but in the meantime got by in Summer using the living room air conditioner’s “raindrop” dehumidifier setting .

So …. I was really happy to get the chance to test and keep the Large+ 45L compressor dehumidifier — now I have two options for all weather and room sizes!!

First impression: this model is big and heavy — my scales put it at 14.8 kg! Thankfully, it has wheels so you can easily roll it around on smooth floors like a spinner suitcase. Not so easy to move on carpet. Because of its large size it’s the kind of unit you pick a central spot (or two) for and leave it there. If you want to rotate through smaller rooms I would get a more compact and easy to pick up and carry model.

This size is perfect for daily use in open-plan areas like the living, dining, and kitchen spaces or larger bedrooms. Just keep an eye on moisture levels around houseplants and pet water bowls, as dehumidifiers can dry those out. I don’t have either, but I always remove reed diffusers before running a dehumidifier so they don’t evaporate too fast. Also the windows need to be closed whilst using. For this reason I don’t run the dehumidifier all day long as I like to open the windows and air out the house daily, even in Winter. When using, I regularly open all the cupboards and chests of drawers to give them a good drying out.

Understand that the tank doesn’t actually hold 45 litres but the machine is capable of extracting that much moisture from the air per day. When you first use it there will be an intense dry-down period where you are extracting large volumes of water from the rooms, walls and furnishings and cupboards. You will be shocked at the volumes of water it extracts and may have to empty the tank several times or use the drainage hose otherwise the machine will shut-off automatically when the tank is full. After this it is just daily use or every few days to maintain humidity levels and discourage mould and mildew. This model can connect to your smart devices so you can connect and monitor humidity levels remotely and have the option to programme in a schedule of when and how often you’d like to use it. I think this feature would be really handy for people that use dehumidifiers off site like in a storage shed or on a boat or caravan that is in storage.

I love that this dehumidifier displays the room’s humidity as soon as you turn it on, and lets you set a target humidity level for it to reach and maintain.

One of my favourite things about dehumidifiers is how they double as occasional clothes dryers — some even have a designated laundry mode.” My smaller Cool Seasons model has this, and it takes about 4–5 hours to dry a load on a clothes rack in a small room, with regular checks to rotate the clothes for even drying. I use it about once a week during Winter or wet weather. Because of its size, I expected this larger 45L model to dry clothes faster, but it didn’t — which surprised me. Also, the user manual was a bit confusing. It says “never use the appliance to dry clothes,” yet there’s a t-shirt icon on the electronic display (which I can only assume is laundry mode). The manual doesn’t mention this t-shirt mode at all, so that was puzzling.

The water tank is easy to slide out and empty, and the included drainage hose makes it simple to set up continuous drainage if you don’t want to keep emptying the tank.

Overall, I’m really happy with my AusClimate dehumidifiers. They’re from an Australian family-owned business and endorsed by Sensitive Choice. Their website is very helpful, explaining the difference between desiccant and compressor models, and they have a good range for all room sizes and climates. If this model isn’t right for you, I’m sure they have one that will be!

I’ve attached a photo of both my AusClimate dehumidifiers side by side for size comparison.

So I wasn't expecting much from this Ausclimate Dehumidifier. It's not something I was aware of and we live in a dry climate, but winter is different. I didn't even realise it's the DAMP that is affecting my mood. Probably sensory issues frankly but that heavy feeling I get on my skin in winter didn't happen this year. Anyway I set it up when it… Read more

arrived easily enough. It's got wheels and a sturdy handle although I just carried it to where I wanted it. Put it in the family room after reading the instructions. Downloaded the Ausclimate app and away we go. I just put it on auto because I have no idea what I'm doing. The kids had spotted the bucket bit at the bottom where the water collects by this time so we had a fiddle with that as well. That's it. I mostly forgot about it except for the colour of the light changing sometimes depending on what it's doing - until we had a bit of rain for the first time in a couple of months. I brought the washing in and hung it on the rack inside. When I woke up in the morning the light on the Dehumidifier was flashing and I could see from the indicator that the reservoir was full. So it's been quiet for weeks and suddenly it gets to work. The whole house was buzzing and I had to argue with the kids about drinking the water collected. That reservoir has to be carefully pulled out as it splashes a bit and I just poured it on my plants as it was heavy like a couple of litres at least and my kid put the empty reservoir back in the Dehumidifier for me. Too easy. I'm actually shocked. We get a bit of condensation on the windows in winter from the heater being on overnight. This year, everything is dry. I am sold on this product. The washing dried overnight instead of taking days when it's rainy outside. I imagine this would be amazing in Melbourne or Tassie to take that dampness you can feel out of the house. I got this one for free as part of the Ambassador program for doing the review so this was a massive score for me. I got an appliance I didn't even know was available that I needed and it's made enough of a difference in the house that my husband has commented on it. I can't tell if it's loud as I am Deaf but everyone else says it's quiet and not noticeable as well. The only thing I would say is don't dawdle getting the reservoir back into place as it drips a bit. Not a big deal considering the massive volume of water it's just pulling out of the air. Wild. This would go great down south instead of those big buckets of pink crystals that you just keep throwing out. Lovely. And it can be operated from your phone. I'm impressed.

The wifi control is very handy when you head out of the house then can remember to turn it on. for large room and move it around whereas the previous model due to weight you would be too lazy to do so otherwise. There is also no delay to motor starting whereas older model although larger capacity, often delay and when you turn on and off there can often be significant pause before it starts, or it turns off itself. This model does not have any of this defect at all and the dry air is warm so on cold winter night, act kind of like a dry heater. It's great for taking the edge off a cold day makes it so much more bearable to be home!

of water already in there! I had managed to get it connected to the internet and throughout the day, watched as it told me the tank was full, what humidity was in the house and how long till it turned off. We were given this dehumidifier to trial in July 2025. Overall we absolutely loved it and will definitely continue to use it going forward especially in the tropics when we move shortly. After using it several weeks here are my thoughts: Pros: - Build quality is outstanding, this thing is built like a tank! - Holy wow this guy is suuuper… Read more

quiet! I was expecting a loud machine noise at least as loud as an oldschool window box ac or a portable ac but I was extremely pleasantly surprised at just how quiet it is! It beeps while you're setting it up but other than that it really is barely even noticable that its running!

-Super effective. We mostly used it in the main bathroom we have, its one of those 'wet room' styles but holds water horribly because of poor design which has lead to mold and slime if I don't take the time to squeegee the entire room every night (who has time for that?!) I put the machine on the vantiy and plugged it in. Within about 5 minutes it had the entire rooms walls completely dry! Something that doesn't happen at all without this machine, unless it's summer- Even with the ceiling extractor fans on. We left it on for about 2 hours total each time and it got the sitting water behind the bath and on the windowsill to actually dry! I was shocked in the best way possible.

- The machine is little but mighty! I was also shocked at how small it is. It fits perfectly on the tiny vanity we have in the bathroom and would be very unnoticeable out in a larger room. This is something I really value in appliances not only for their physical space within the room but also to store them. being so small, it fits perfectly in the laundry cupboard when not in use.

- The operation of the machine is really easy, its very straight forward to use and to set what percentage of humidity you'd like. It also has lots of

-It gets to work instantly, you can instantly feel a difference in the air of your home within about 2 minutes!

- The device I got services up to 105msq. Which when you think about it, is a very large area for such a small and inconspicuous device. Super handy for our open plan home.

- The blowing fan parts are moveable which is super handy if you want the dry air to blow in one particular spot.

- It's not ugly to look at which is always a plus. Its quite sleek and stylish and modern looking.

- We didn't notice any changes to the temperature of the room, it's more just that it feels significantly more comfortable to be in

- I really appreciate that it has multiple drain options. There are some times where the container is fine, but others where I'd rather set it and forget it and let it drain out and down the sink. Having that option to do that is a real life saver and saves me having to remember or set a timer or something.

- It has wifi connectivity and can be operated remotely.

-I really appreciate the wide range of operational temperatures it can be used in. Makes it more suitable for use even when we move from here.

Cons: - Its heavy. Those who are unable to lift heavy things would need some help to put it up on a table or anywhere not on the floor I'd imagine. I think it was about 15kgs or there abouts. A lot heavier than I was expectign it to be but given how wonderfully it works it's not really a negative- more just something to consider for those who are frail or otherwise disabled etc.

- My only real gripe is the container that holds the waste water. Its not overly well explained how one is to empty it or where or if it comes apart to be cleaned etc. I just tipped it down the sink and used the tiny hole in the top of the container which I assume is correct. Perhaps there was a page in the manual I missed with that though.
