I paid a deposit for a battery installation back in September 2025, and until now the job has still not been completed. No one has contacted me with any updates. I’ve tried calling multiple times, including their main number 1300 237 588, but no… Read more

one picks up and calls are not returned. Very disappointing and unprofessional experience.

At this stage, I just want proper communication or my deposit refunded. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

Follow-up  · Since my original review, there hasn’t been any progress. I paid a $200 deposit in September 2025, but I haven’t received a contract or any further documentation. The wait time was quoted immediately at the time of enquiry, but nothing has moved forward since then.

Best product and value on the market!!! – Sunny Singh is your man, put together a super competitive quote and my system was installed within a couple days of signing off. offer tier 1 products (25yr warranty on panels, 10yr on inverter) and their installers were first class, added hot water timer at my request (10yr workmanship warranty). Spend your money with these guys, its a no-brainer.

I made a $300 deposit on a large battery/inverter purchase with Austra Solar on 30 June 2025. After trying to find Austra Solar's "head office" in Chippendale in early August so that I could have a chat to them about how I wanted to configure the… Read more

scoped system with my existing battery, I realised that Austra don't have a physical presence, and were a mere sales and marketing outfit - less diplomatically put, a scam factory. I immediately requested a refund on my deposit (payment receipt PA-4142, mentioned here to avoid their bullsh*t default "Dear Customer, We are sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. Unfortunately, we can't trace you as our customer. Please share your quotation or invoice number and we will look into the matter with utmost priority. Regards, SPN Online" response) on 9th August. After no response to multiple emails and they having blocked my mobile number, I went to NSW Fair Trading and commenced action against them.

Bizarrely, the same scammer that accepted my deposit actually rang me - after 6-7 emails sent to him demanding a refund - and tried to upsell me on an even larger battery. Their modus operandi of seeking to prey upon customer naivety and greed at deals which don't actually exist (if it seems too good to be true, it is too good to be true) didn't allow this clown to comprehend that I was fairdinkum about coming after them to get my money back.

Anyway - NSW Fair Trading, via the NSW Building Commission, eventually got formal correspondence to Austra Solar. I received an email chain confirming the deposit return and it was returned earlier this week, two months after I first requested it in writing.

The lesson? Talk to friends and family about their experience with good, reputable suppliers/installers. Don't go hunting for the cheapest price online, as those deals either don't exist or the install will be so cheap and crappy that the otherwise decent kit just won't function or perform. If these scammers do have your money, go through the formal channels re: recovery, be persistent and remain patient.

Follow-up  · Do not - under any circumstances - engage with these clowns. They are crooks and will scam you.

due to in correct application submission. I'm not sure they understand QLD requirements to connect to the grid. This was then followed up by a phone call promising a return of deposit due to inability to proceed within 10 business days on 1st Sept 2025. Here I am 26 days later and no sign of deposit being returned. Contract also stipulates that the return will be as per section 4.1 of the contract "If you have paid us money under this agreement, but the agreement ends for any of the following reasons before we install the System at your Premises, then when the agreement ends we will promptly refund all of the money you have paid: - (a) if we have not delivered and installed the System at the Premises within 4 weeks after the original Target Date, and you choose to end the agreement under clause 7.10; - (b) if we give you notice of a price increase under clause 5, and you choose to end the agreement in accordance with clause 5.3 rather than accept the price increase; or - (c) Grid Connection Approval is refused. - (d) If any of the equipment quoted is unattainable and you do not agree to equipment of a similar quality to be substituted"

Disappointed does not cut how I'm feeling. I have now sought professional advice.

Austra Solar - My ref QN-061721611 - feel free to contact me and get this resolved.

Follow-up  · Hi All, after reaching out to office of fair trading and submitting the issue online (doesn’t take long) I had amazing support and communication through to resolution. The issue turned around and suddenly communication restarts with a different person at the company and the deposit is paid back. Worth taking the time to make sure you get your deposit back if the install does not progress. I hope others get the same rightful outcome.

Very happy with the battery. Works great. Had to wait a month and a half for the install which was understandable due to the popularity of the Federal Government Rebate. I couldn't get it any cheaper after shopping around everywhere. The FoxESS looks tidy on the wall too. Overall, I'm very happy.

I waited about 12 weeks for the install but I expected that with new rebates. 2 guys came from syd to Bathurst, they said here for a week doing install. Polite guys, did a nice job and new 20kw battery and 6.6 panels all working well. Price was good. Cant comment on long term but so far it’s producing heaps of power and works well. Show details

Great service, informative representatives, safe installation, and an all-round legitimate business. Only thing I would improve is the smoothness of post-deposit installation. We contracted Austra to install solar panels and battery with removal of the existing panels in July. The person we dealt with was Ben. One of the excuses was the… Read more

pitch of the roof was too steep for the installers, and they demanded extra money. From that point we decided to abandon the installation as it became too difficult and too drawn out the installation exercise. We asked for a refund of the deposit and again we were led on with excuses for the delay. I kept calling them every couple of weeks to remind them that the money they promised to refund to my account did not happen. That refund has been asked for, for 2 months. As of 28 Nov they have blocked me and refused to answer my calls. Subsequently they have deceptively taken my deposit was guaranteed to be refunded. They are unreliable, misleading and deceptive. They agreed to an installation and saw lots of pictures of the property. There was no hiding about any kind of issue with the installation in relation to the pitch of the roof. They pitch is standard or just above standard of pitch of 33 degrees. I will be contacting the Department of Fair Trading and reporting them. I will post more when I find out the next steps from the Department of Fair Trading. Please stay away from them!! They are not worth dealing with.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing experience with Austra Solar. I paid a deposit in June 2025 for a solar installation, but as of October 31, 2025, the system has still not been installed. inconsistent, and there’s been no clear timeline or commitment to complete the job. I feel this is unprofessional and misleading — customers should not have to wait months or deal with constant price changes after paying a deposit.

Can't believe that I'm back again. Again, zero stars if I could. I was advised to complete a complaint for and submit it to Austra… Read more

and they had 14 days to rectify the issues. I was told that in cases like this the company acts quickly as they don't want their company reputation to be jeopardised, so it gave me hope that the company will take me seriously.

The company acknowledged my complaint submission then completely ignored me. Therefore, I had to pay $122 just to lodge a formal complaint with the Building and Energy Commission.

Now I'm waiting, it's been 5 months since water ingressed into my garage and all the paint is pealing from my ceiling full of water stains.

Please don't use this company if you don't want to go through extensive stress and time dealing with their non existent customer service after you give them your money.

Would stay clear of this business. Communication was great until they get your deposit and then they will ignore you the next 4 months, they promised to send a installer out to inspect my property to make sure I can have the battery installed and also said if the battery can not being installed at your property, they would refund me the deposit… Read more

but once I had paid the deposit back in June 2025, I barely heard from him again until he said my system will be installed on a weekend which I wasn't home and also we hadn't had anyone come to the property to inspect first, then another month goes by and he sends a email saying I'm booked in for a date but the installer reckons I should go bigger but it will cost more money and they needed me to approve of it, I again replied and ask when will the installer come inspect my property and for another few weeks I never heard back from until I had let them know that I had contacted NSW fair trading about them. Then being asked why I want to cancel my install. They don't want me refund me and communication is still terrible. It has been 4 months since I paid the deposit and barely heard from them plus being lied to from the start. I should have known the price was to good to be true when I received the quote. I wish I done some more research and reading reviews about this company.

deposit straight away on the date of sale and pushed very hard to get cash. But since then I have been waiting and waiting with them constantly trying to blame energex for delays.

Energex have sent them multiple emails asking for them to give information that they don't reply to for multiple weeks until I chase them up. The first email was less than a week after the contract was signed so 7 weeks ago now.

I am again on hold to them now to try and get something, anything from them. They just come up with excuse after excuse after excuse for their sheer laziness and incompetence.

Honestly just go somewhere else, anywhere, Go buy your battery and solar of the bloke on the street corner. You will be more likely to get a product from him.

Stay away this company is a SCAM. The sales man [Name Removed] was more than happy to take my $400 to secure the quote which I paid on 3/7/25. I then was told they were “waiting for approvals” for weeks. I had no communication till (after I continued to ask for updates) I was told on 28/7/25 that my inverter setup might not get approved. I… Read more

won’t complicate it by going into the details, but even though don’t believe it would have been a problem, I agreed to an extra $400 on top of what was quoted just to get the job done. (At this point I realised they hadn’t even PUT the request for grid approval in and I believe they were simply trying to get more money out of me)

After many calls and emails, on 15/8/25 I was then told it’s been approved and given an instal date. The day didn’t work for me so I asked to reschedule it for the following week.

It wasn’t until the following week that I received a call from [Name Removed] asking for measurements (measurements he should have requested BEFORE taking my money to secure the quote)

He then decided that the battery he quoted wouldn’t fit! Remember this is AFTER I received an install date and I asked to get it changed.

I looked into the quotes for two different battery options. The install manual of the batteries quoted, my current inverters AND Australian standards all pointed towards the fact that the install wouldn’t be a problem. I assume at this point they were going to try and get more money out of me.

I was ignored for nearly 2 weeks where at one point my phone calls direct to [Name Removed] AND to the 1300 number of austra solar would result in a message “there are no operators available to take your call” with no option to even leave a message!

It’s now 27/8/25. Nearly TWO MONTHS after I gave them $400 and I have now been told they will give me an install date at 2pm.

They told me this two days ago and I have still not received a call.

I will be taking this to fair trading. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever received form a company. Totally un professional. I have been extremely patient up until now. I’ve had enough.

Do NOT go with this company if you are reading this review. Believe all the other negative reviews here. They are not going to install your battery and you may not even get that $400 they requested for a deposit back.

faulty (the technician agreed it would have never worked). ALSO, I was sold a 13kW system but 18 months later the Electrical Regulator had to be called to check the entire system (non-compliant). Panels were installed incorrectly (non-compliant) & didn't meet Electrical Regulation standards, so installer had to come back, take all the panels off & was only able to reinstall 10kW worth of panels in a way that Was compliant.
