I purchased the Auto XS car cover from Aldi's large size for my convertible I have in Florida. The cover was on the car for less than a month and it was torn in threads from the rain and wind. It is a piece of rubbish! I purchased the cover from positive reviews from other consumers. Please send me a gift card to use at ALDI's to cover the cost of the cover. The cover was put on the car at the end of November 2023 and destroyed within the moth of December. Thank you: Ms Z .1105 Cobblestone Dr. Tallmadge, Ohio 44278

The cover does have a warranty clause, so it would be interesting for everyone to read how you handle your claim. You should write a review and give details of any hurricane weather you experienced. Whenever the wild weather comes, I use extra straps because I don't want to let the air get under the cover and then start flapping and slapping the paint on my car. The cover survived but the green house tarp material was ripped to shreds because the wind got under it.

Beware of fibreglass material woven fabrics because they degrade and create environmentally dangerous fibres in your yard. Bad for pets and native animals

What price

A Langer

I don’t remember. I bought it more than 4 years ago

QLDZDR
QLDZDR

$40, they will protect your car for 18 months before you need to check for UV deterioration. The car cover starts to break-up into dust and fibres. You don't want to breathe any of that in. Not sure how to dispose of fibrous material products.

Matt M.
Matt M.

Is it waterproof

QLDZDR
QLDZDR

No. Water resistant for a few months. UV causes the cover to deteriorate into fibrous strands and powder after 18 months. You don't want to breathe it in. I was replacing the cover every 2 years, because waiting for Aldi to sell them again, but that was too long.

Ray S.
Ray S.

2 years for $40 is a god damn bargain. Considering you can buy far worse from SCA for $80+.

That's 5.47cents a day assuming you used it every day which you wont.

I don't recommend this anymore. It is made of a synthetic fibre that deteriorates into dust that may cause respiratory problems for pets

I have been looking for a car cover to protect against the Au summer sun for a while & so purchased the Large hail cover #91332 today (on the spur of the moment & thinking the “hail” an added bonus). When unpacked I read on the inside instructions a WARNING (not visible before purchasing!) to only place on vehicle when dry & impending hail storm & remove immediately after....as if?? Now I see the black outer roofline (as previous reviews have highlighted) & figure this is no good for sun protection. I consider this to be misleading for consumers & intend to return immediately. Price might be good but useless in Australia for over 50% of the year!!

Do not purchase these covers under any circumstances unless you are wanting it for indoor use only. I purchased this for $99. A few days later we had a bad storm and as soon as it started to rain I ran and got the hail cover out and secured it to the car. Once the storm passed I took the cover off and noticed the cover damaged my paintwork. I drove to Aldi and showed them the car and a photo of the car four days before as I only just purchased it. They refused to take responsibility pointing out that the car needs to be dry. This information is not seen on the package outside but only when purchased and you have unpacked it. It’s made in China, need I say more!

Dear Aldi,

I bought the 99449 car cover in Jan 2020.

Problem is the black exterior is increasing the heat burden on my paintwork and car interior being exposed to the current Australian blistering heat waves we are experiencing.

When are you going to sell a silver reflective version that is more suited for Australian conditions. Your Price is great , your Quality is also great. Now we just need a product suited for our extreme climate.

A European centric product in an Australian climate just doesnt cut it.

Thanks for your understanding. We look forward to your response.

George

Agree. Dark colours would be useful in absorbing heat and possibly stopping some of the frost and ice buildup. Australian conditions would need a silver reflective (or white) to repell the heat.

I am going to buy car cover that goes on sale 28th December, and was wondering is it worth it, Will cover damage the paint on the car?And what about windy days, My car is always parked in the sun no garage.. Look forward to hearing your comments

I would't use any car cover on a hot sunny day as this will intensifies the heat on the paint work causing the clear coat of the paint( the glossy outer layer) to deteriorate in no time. in some cases the sythetic material of the cover react with the clear coat under high temperature causing massive paint damage. At the same token covers will work just fine with rain ,wind ,dust or hail

I've just bought the 99449 model large cover to protect my car from blistering Australian summer sun. The car cover is made of what seems to be robust quality materials. My previous flimsy silvery chinese $50 covers from eBay last 6 months max and fall apart.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Aldi would choose to sell black for cover exterior for the extreme heat Oz summer sun. Black runs at least 15 degrees C hotter than white or silver according to the NRMA. Black is an insane choice of outer cover colour. I can only surmize they got a cheap deal for their European operations and we got the dreggs.

The cover manufacturer is aware of these and similar issues (solvent outgassing, paint damage by heat) as they state on the packaging, do not fit the cover on a car that has been resprayed within the last 3 months.

I've mounted mine inside-out to expose the light grey side to the sun. It's not optimal, but I'm not going to roast the car in a black cover. To help, I've left all 4 car windows open by about 5mm to allow hot air to escape.

To summarise 1 great price 2 great quality 3 Idiotic choice of black external colour for our extreme temperatures under Australian Summer conditions.

Hope this helps. George

They offer them once every 12 months. They last approximately 2 years before the Queensland sun starts shredding them.

Can I use the hail cover also for covering car for a week in the airport car park?

I wouldnt . We did have ours covered with the cover for a few weeks, only to find that where the cover touched the paint, it delaminated it. All the paint blistered.

Try putting the cover on inside out , as I have to reduce the effects of heating the car by the sun.
