I was going to purchase some wall seam tape that could go in a jiffy bag and would be very light and would cost about $8 through Australia post. I emailed them about the price. became very clear that they could not care less. My second last email said the following.

"Good morning and thank you for your polite replies. As a business person, I cannot count the number of times I have gone elsewhere due to the freight costing more than the item or the cost been way to high when there are other options. Have you considered how many people may have purchased but moved on when they saw the high freight price? Most would not say anything. I would have bought a few meters and booked marked you for other future items but now that is not the case. How many times has this happened with you? You will never know currently. I have chosen to say something so that you can do more business. Up to you what you do of course. Hope you have a wonderful day too."

Their reply was "Okay Geoff". They could not care less.

So I said I guess you are just an employee and do not care. So I will leave a review instead.

His reply was. "Okay Geoff no one is concerned with your opinions you have been blocked from all Avan services due to you hostility towards employees" [Name Removed] Operations Avan Spare Parts & Customer Service"

I am not going to be ripped off on postage that is more than 3 times what it could cost to send.

And despite my efforts to try and help them, I get told I am hostile and they are blocking me. No wonder they have so many 1 star reviews with others saying similar things about the lack of service.

Time to buy elsewhere.

Mary’s, has been nothing short of extreme disappointment. I am not going to list on here all the shocking workmanship items and lack of detail to the Avan that we have experienced, nor are we going to go into detail regarding the unprofessionalism of Avan staff. The details are far too many to list on this forum. We can only hope that these issues will be rectified and Avan staff become more accommodating and understanding, as well they should, when people spend $200,000.00 plus of their hard earned money. I hope you can understand our frustration with this ongoing saga.

KEPT $3.5k of our deposit on new van. We purchased a new Aspire 555 at Mornington show for 70k in March 2025 from AVAN PAKENHAM. At first viewing we were told deposit was refundable and van could not be built and delivered until August 2025. We paid 10% deposit on second viewing. to cancel our contract 5 weeks later in May 2025. We were told that they would only return half our deposit as the refundable aspect was not written on the contract. They refunded $3500 and kept $3500 despite production of the van not even close to starting. Be careful with these people they lack integrity and honesty in our view.

Not recommended Van got write off after 2 use. Very poor workmanship so many things not perfect when we receive the van at delivery. Things fall apart in the 1st month and water leaking on the first day. Show details

Update – Went to update our 2005 avan only to find the quality of production has gone down hill dramatically. Was very happy with our 2005 van but will be looking elsewhere due to the poor construction .

Terrible quality build and even worse customer service – Would never ever buy a Golf again. We recieved our brand new van with 30+ defects on it. Was told by the dealer that they all look like that. a bunk ladder that never came with the van. Recieved bunk ladder from factory with an appaling message on the package (and also a part missing from the ladder) Steer clear of this company, i wish we did.

Bull bar weakness on certain Avans – The bumper bar on certain Avans is dangerous. IT FALLS OFF. It happened to me on my last journey. serious if it had released entirely from the van totally re traffic following. Reported it to dealer and they were not interested. Avan themselves don’t seem to care about there products once it leaves the factory. WHY. Someone should be held accountable.

Terrible service – Michael took my credit card details and said he would hold the van for 2 weeks while we waited for our insurance to process. I called him on the 14th day to finalise purchase and he said he sold it to a local couple would paid cash. Called a dealer on the east coast and he has heard of Michael and the terrible customer service he offers. It would not be worth your time talking with Michael at AVAN Super Centre in Campbellfield. Show details

Lack of Integrity – We bought a brand new A-Van Cruiseliner Adventure Plus. Within days the door handle fell off in our hands. It is secured by very short screws. inferior product. The Finch HB9000 underbunk air conditioner barely works. It cools the van by one degree. They have known about this issue for at least two years and yet continue to promote a van with air conditioning knowing full well it doesn't work in a Cruiseliner. A-van keep referring back to the retaile. The retailer keeps referring back to A-van. It is not integral.

salesman, who knew nothing (yes, really) gave a heap of wrong information. We tried the van for 2 days. It was ok. On the 2nd trip out, neither the pump, nor the solar lights were working. Very poor. Given the abusive manager in Bathurst, I definitely would not recommend anybody go there, after sales service is non existent, and not worth the effort. If you already have an avan go to the other caravan bloke in town, polite, knows what he is doing, and does it in a timely manner.

over on that date an hour and a half drive , the manager was not there , another employee told me that it he didn't think it was under warranty, but would find out, after waiting about an half hour he came back and said he couldn't find out that day, I said I would leave caravan I was told no room will have to take it back home and they will ring me , 6 weeks later no call and nobody knows. Once they have your money they don't care, while we like the caravan would never buy another avan or recommend them

Service problem with my Avan Aliner – I phoned 03 5945 4500 with a service problem with my Avan Aliner and spoke courteously to a Mr. Steve Doherty. He was off hand and did not show any care or concern with my problem. He was not helpful at all. Terrible cruise liner – After sale service and product are terrible.Not enough space to wright all the problems dean exp:lost the spare weel due to poor wellding and the rest.If anyone is interested I can supply photos (plenty of them).Please if U intend to buy this product consider the rewiews, because I did't. In ten months we used it twice, and after every outhing had to take it back for repair,but before that waited two months each time.THEY WERE very busy.

If only the people who built it used more than 1 screw – Spent $30k only to have to fix things ourselves. Lock barrel fell out of door 1st time used, filmed it & sent to AVAN, the door latch on roof only has 1 screw as has most of the cupboard doors & curtain rods. The table is screwed on uneven making it wobble. Not able to drop van off on a weekend to have issues resolved & pick up the next week,… Read more

to get some idea of when it was turning up. We find out that it's expected arrival us now mid Feb, but they'll be busy with the caravan show so they couldn't get it to us until the 28th Mmm.... There's our February holiday booking gone. One they assured us we could take.

Mid February we ring to confirm only to hear it is now mid March. Maybe. Latest news is that it is late March.

Not once has there been any communication from THEM. Not once has there been any apology or regret... Just grumpily given comments about how busy they've been, and that they've had no leave.

Another chase up call today, has been met again by curt conversation and when I agree that she SHOULD contact us daily to let us know what is happening... she HUNG UP ON ME. Perhaps her suggestion of a daily call was, like their customer service, false.

It will be 8 months after our order when we get it IF it does actually arrive mid March.

I tried ringing the 1300 number on the website to speak to someone at head office, however repeated attempts have resulted in the number completely ringing out.

There is no Facebook page for them and no other way of contacting head office. Trying to ring interstate dealers to get a contact number and they're ringing out too.

I'm an easy going person, in sales myself, but we have found the experience infuriatingly frustrating.

The delay is upsetting, but it's the total lack of contact or customer service that is making us see red.

We regret to the depth of our souls, going with Avan!

I have found life without the AVAN just wonderful – I purchased an off the showroom model in March 2016, drove to Melbourne from Brisbane to collect it having paid the balance owing 2 weeks before I left. On arrival the lady in question told me I could not collect the AVAN as she had not received advice of my direct debit sent 2 weeks prior. I even reminded her that I had sent her a copy of the… Read more

direct debit over $40,000, one might think you would remember this but no. She then contacted their head office to be told it was received 2 weeks ago but they forgot to tell her, it gets better. I was then introduced to the Sales Manager who was to take my wife and I through the Caravan and show us it in detail. This took some time to organise as he was not expecting me even though I had sent emails advising the date I wanted to collect it and their reply advising this date marked was fine. Taking us through the Avan he noted I was far from understanding of the van and was shocked to find I had not seen it other than on the internet. He thought I had come into the showroom prior. I was told to back my 4x4 in to hook up and they noted I had a 7 pin round plug on my 4x4. The AVAN had a 7 pin flat. I advised I had an adaptor but they said no we will change the plug on the AVAN to suit. In doing this and then turning it on they blew 90% of the led's and other lights, tale, brake etc. They finally after 1.5 hours fixed the problem bar one external led and told me to get it fixed when I returned to Brisbane, they just wanted me out, it was written all over them. Now to the best part, the first night out towards Brisbane we stopped overnight, the AVAN started making weird noses, fridge clicking etc, humming from under the bed etc. On contacting back they said just get it looked at when you get to Brisbane. The second night we were so concerned with the noises and humming I contacted the Sales manager and he said try and find an Auto Electrician to fix it. That didn't work as they were all busy and I had to wait a week so forward we pushed towards Brisbane. I finally got home and took it to the local Avan dealership to be told the van had not received a pre-inspection and that there were numerous problems. They attended to these however the next day the same problems. Then the AVAN Factory in Melbourne became involved promised the world, delivered nothing and after 3 months waiting on parts it became roadworthy. As everything was now working this gave me the confidence in getting rid of it which I did Losing $5000 overall but peace of mind that this joke was now over for me. I have recently purchased the most solid Caravan around with substantial warranty and proved back up service. I would highly recommend from my experience to anyone wishing to purchase a Caravan look well beyond the AVAN and live longer. I could go on with all the details however whilst there are far more you will have done well to have read this far. By the way that old saying you get what you pay for is so true, mind you that when you spend towards the mid $45,000.00 mark you might think you are getting something good, but don't bet on it.
