As a police member with VicPol at the time, I bought into the desire to support the organisation in a meaningful manner, and while at the Academy for initial training, I signed up with Bank Vic. So far, so good. Everyday banking went well, Then things went a bit loopy. My partner and I approached BankVic to take over our home loan. Two meetings… Read more
and suddenly we were invisible. No communication and no explanation. We then decided on forgetting the whole idea of supporting BankVic. Cancelling our membership was our next hurdle and since that time phone calls have not been helpful at all. Regular account statements keep arriving, each for less than 50 cents credit. It seems that I now have to pay more than that on public transport to prove to the bank that I'm real and want "out". Sadly, it's a loss for this organisation which is supposedly supporting the VicPol community.
Slowest, most inept bank I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Been a member for 25 years, had several mortgages and car loans over that time. Never fallen into arrears. Recently applied for a top up of my home loan. Despite having more than 50% equity in my home and a decent superannuation I was put through the ringer like I was trying… Read more
to defraud them. Due to numerous false promises from the bank that the funds would be available 'in the next few days' I'm now, for the first time in my life in the situation where I have to tell movers, tradies etc that I don't have the funds to pay them. As soon as this debacle is sorted I will be re-financing. BankVic deserves every negative review posted.

Not happy Jan – New home loan customer and rate increased within 6 months of loan despite guaranteed 3 year introductory rate of 2.19%. Misleading home loan advisor and ambiguous written contract Made a complaint in writing to their complaints department - no response. Follow up phonecall just as dissatisfying with poor customer service. Will be looking elsewhere for a home loan. Show details
I think the staff just decide, 'I'm not doing that today.' The laziest bank and staff I've ever dealt with – I applied for a credit card. They called to confirm details and said everything is fine and they'll call me back - I never heard back. After emailng the person twice with no response, I called again, another rep said she'll follow up. Again, I never heard back. I emailed both these reps twice each again, and of course I never heard back. I filed a… Read more
complaint, I never heard back. What a joke. Eight weeks later, still ignored. It's like they decide, I don't think I'll work today. Just lazy.
BankVic, or the Victoria Police Coop as it was formerly known is a disgrace to its membership – I have been with BankVic and the Police Coop as it was formerly known for almost 40 years now. I remember as a Constable, applying for a $6000 car loan in about 1984 being repulsed by the disgustingly high interest rate they wanted to charge me, around 9% by memory. To add insult to injury they also wanted a signed guarantor for the money! What… Read more
a joke, I was after all one of their faithful police employees who probably should not have been treated like a local crook with a bad credit rating! I walked down the road to one of the big banks whom I had never banked with, only to be offered an immediate cheque for any amount up to 20K at an interest rate of 6%!!! Do the maths right!
Some 15 years later I recall making an appointment with a senior manager in the loans dept at the Academy (Only due to being housed in the Police Academy during a sergeants course at the time. Upon my arrival, I lined up and after 15 mins of waiting in line (very early for the appointment) to announce my arrival to one of the tellers, I was told to wait at the base of the stairs for the loans manager to finish with her client upstairs and greet me.
Some 30 to 40 minutes later I was greeted by an aggressive angry woman who accused me of arriving very late to the appointment. Needless to say, I did not go ahead with the loan application, felt appalled by the abusive treatment, and vowed never again to request any form of loan from the "Coop" (BankVic) again.
Many years later I again applied for a loan from BankVIc when I was working from within the VPC because of pure convenience and the short-term nature of the loan. They made me jump through ridiculous hoops to get an 18-month loan that I repaid in 2 or 3 months. A short time later I applied for a subsequent short-term loan thinking they may now refer to or treat me as a preferred or good customer. Silly me. Same old garbage, jumping through hoops as they had never dealt with me before.
At the end of the day, in my eyes at least, BankVic has lost sight of the credibility, passion, and good sense of its main client base, Victoria Police members. If we were all untrustworthy, villainous crooks who lived on day-to-day cheques with no real credibility.... fair enough. Give us ridiculously high credit charge or loan rates that are not competitive with the regular banks.
My concern is that you are treating ordinary hard-working coppers like trash and making them jump through unnecessary hoops! For what! Extra profits? Who do the profits even go to? Is this not supposed to be a non-profit bank? I have been a member with 2 x of the original "share" accounts but have never been sent any money from BankVic for profit sharing! One can only imagine that the profits benefit the upper-level management... if not who?
Happy to discuss all of the issues at your leisure...
Kind regards (but somewhat cynical) after 39 years of service and loyal banking with BankVic (Police Credit Coop)

Worst bank in Australia – Been with this bank for 10 years, unfortunately bad experiences Im shutting all of my accounts. The customer service is below average. Let’s start with fees. They charge $19 if you have insufficient funds, and they charged me that three times in the space of a week. That’s theft. When I emailed them about it they told me they aren’t refunding me… Read more
the fee and to basically deal with it. The online bank transfers take AGES about 3 days when it’s much quicker with other banks. Can’t do any international transfers with Shopify. So many hidden fees. Go with ING instead they have unbelievably amazing rates.
Member since 1974 – I have been a member of Bank Vic since it's inception in 1974. I have found them to be terrific, with excellent customer service, competive rates, easy online transactions. I also like their safety protocols which sometimes can be annoying but I'd prefer that to having unauthorised transactions. All good with us. Show details
Fees, customer service, online services & staff; all poor!! – New member to Victoria Police. Signed up and non stop issues since. Major concerns. 1. Card arrived with no pin. Advised cards are managed by third party and they have no control. 2. Funds transfer to my bankvic account with name spelled incorrect, took 1 week of me calling for them to "find the money" which was in a holding account. No… Read more
notification to me, why? Because the holding accounts are managed by a third party (seeing a trend?) 3. Direct debit was $3 more than available. Debit declined and charged $19. All other banks abolished this fee years ago! When asked why, told because the fee is a third party fee that must be passed on. when questioned about third parties, given bland and non specific answers in avoidance of the question. Very suspicious. Active members regularly advise since change from Police credit to bank vic; complete loss of service, trust and competence. As a new member, disappointed on multiple levels.
