CRAP, DO NOT BUY! – I hate this thing, Bought 12 months ago and regret it. gets stuck in corner constantly, hoses constantly get into a knot and restricted its travel length, hoses split constantly, impossible to balance with weights to get it to work properly on floor of pool. You have to almost constantly stand there and supervise the stupid thing. Show details

Inexpensive and robust – Purchased from Bunnings 24 months ago, for an inexpensive cleaner that will mostly clean the kidney shaped fibreglass floor surface and sometimes the walls it’s fine. I never leave it in the pool for more than 2-3 days, the chlorine will eventually degrade the components if left submerged long term. Also, store the hoses and cleaner away from… Read more · 1
sunlight. You will need to fiddle with the hose weight to stop the cleaner from getting stuck in sharp corners, won’t clean my steps. I still hand clean the sides maybe 3-5 weeks or as needed, as a floor cleaner it’s fine. No issues with any hoses or internal parts failing. Seems solid enough. Update ~ as of July 2025 still serviceable and no issues to report of. Update - as of Dec 9th, the diaphragm has worn out, small tear and stretched, replaced for under $30, huge improvement in operation, got used to the slower pulsing over time.
Cheap plastic in fittings - Hose connections kept splitting – After our old pool cleaner died and we decided to go with the Baracuda Manta as it was considerably cheaper than the robot versions but unfortunately the make isn't great. The main section that cleans the pool floor was fine but the hoses must be made from cheaper plastic as it split the day we put it together. The split was where the hose… Read more
attached to the 'L' shaped fitting that attaches to the skimmer box (both are Baracuda products). I ignored it thinking it wouldn't be an issue but after 10 months I gave up because after each swim the hose would disconnect at that point and we had to reconnect it. We tried a work around of using a different section of the hose (as they come in several segments) but those split too as soon as they were attached to the fitting. I ended up returning the product as it's not fit for purpose. We're going to bite the bullet and get a robot cleaner now
Great product for the price! – I bought the Baracuda manta because I didn’t want to pay over $2000 for a decent robotic cleaner. At first I noticed that the suction was very poor, it was getting stuck in corners and didn’t climb walls. All this was because the suction from the pump was simply too low. I removed my skimmer basket and connected the hose directly to the skimmer… Read more
box inlet which made the manta run like a dream. I also invested in the Baracuda leaf eater to ensure that large debris weren’t sucked directly into the filter and now the mantra cleans the whole pool effortlessly. Overall I’m very happy with the product.
Poor disinterested service – The Baracuda Manta was bought at Bunnings. I have had a Baracuda previously. After about 15 months I noticed air bubbles coming up the twist-lok hose where the hose enters an inline leaf catcher. The air accumulates and enters the filter via the pump causing a problem when the pumps switches off. I then had the skimmer box replaced, the problem… Read more
persisted. I then tried replacing all the twist-lok hoses which didn't solve the problem. I contacted the Baracuda service (apparently now Fluidra) and after they couldn't undertand how this was happening volunteered to send a service technician. This was accepted. The service technician arrived after a few days but didn't appear very interested in the bubbles coming up the hose into the skimmer box and observed that the Baracuda Manta was working and decided the problem was between the skimmer box and the pump which is untrue as the bubbles come up the hoses to the skimmer box. The service technician was not interested in the problem and just repeated his invalid diagnosis and quite rudely turned and left. I tried to obtain a more technical response but didn't receive anything. It is unfortunate that what is essentially a relatively good product's reputation is allowed to be ruined by such poor backup service.
Works well after some adjustments – I have had the Baracuda Manta for 2+ years. Good things: It doesn't get stuck (anymore). It cleans without choking on small seeds and leaves. The accessories and locking hose segments are good quality. The noise is not bad. Not so good things: It took a lot of fiddling to adjust suction, weight location and hose length for it to not get stuck. A… Read more
little too high chlorine made the soft rubber parts really slimy and deteriorating. I already (1 year) had to replace diaphragm and skirt (runs 5 hours a day though) The rubber skirt is a little too soft and folds over at times.
Altogether it is worth having.
Not fit for purpose – Very annoying as it only runs for a few minutes before getting a leaf stuck in it and stopping. Really, the purpose of this product is to pick up leaves from the bottom of the pool yet it seems to stop just about every time it encounters a leaf. It also gets stuck in corners.Very disappointed. We are forever checking to see if it has stopped then… Read more
running to the pool to fix, can be several times an hour. Of course, when we are not home, it just sits there and waits for us to clear out the debris before chugging along for another minute or two, clogging up again and we go round and round in circles. Better to not have a cleaner than to rely on this one. We do not have overhanging trees and unless it is windy we don’t get too many leaves in the pool, but this cleaner cannot cope even in relatively light conditions. The Aldi one I previously had was a quarter of the price and much more effective.
Good when working – Second one so far this one was just out of warranty period. Good cleaner when it was working but now has Just stopped working. No idea why..might be a simple fix if I knew why it stopped Show details
Not doing what it’s paid for – Bought this after its lower level model didn’t do the job. Took back to Bunnings and bought up to this Manta. It too, like the cheaper model gets stuck in the corners, doesn’t suck and choked on the smallest debris. Backing onto a national park we have a fair few trees around so thought the more expensive cleaner would do the job better. Will be talking back to get a refund. Show details
Save time or waste it? Not sure how they can sell this! No knowledge and no support! – I bought the Baracuda Manta pool cleaner when I was shopping for other stuff at Bunnings. When I took it home I unpacked it and set it up using the manual supplied. I have had plenty of Zodiac Pool cleaners before so I thought it would just work. After checking the water flow from my pump I connected it to the new twist lock hoses supplied… Read more
then...........nothing! I went back to Bunnings to ask for assistance with the set up and was told there was no one that could help and that i should just bring it back for a refund or replacement. So I did. I need a pool cleaner to save my time not waste it! I have never been so grateful for my local pool shop as they then sold me a Zodiac G3 which was set up in seconds and has been working great for about 6 weeks now. The weird thing is that both these pool cleaners look similar but after seeing both of these cleaners I am almost certain that the Zodiac G3 is made of better quality materials and just works the way I would expect it to work. My local pool shop are absolute winners! I like to support businesses that support me if there is any issues and these guys do!
In this instance the initial purchase price wasn't worth my time in messing around troubleshooting and taking it back for no support! If you don't support it don't sell it!

Great Cleaner For My Pool – Bought from Bunnings in Jan, 2021. It has been a very effective cleaner for my 50k L kidney shaped pool - pebblecrete. Have yet to manually vacuum the pool or change diaphragms since purchase. Running it slow to medium on a variable pump (low setting) and adjusted the weir valve about half. Have adjusted the weight to about half way up from the… Read more · 1
head as it was climbing a bit high to the water level. It mostly wont clean the steps or walls, so the odd sweep down every few weeks is fine. Easily picks up small to medium leaves (I don't get any large leaves) and clumps of pollen. Great for sand and silt. Not ideal for moderate twigs or sticks.
Pros: Good construction and a well designed mechanism for changing the diaphragm Hoses are of better quality than most other brands Quiet operation Aftermarket diaphragms cheap Bought from Bunnings, so no hassles if a return is needed. Take a photo of the receipt.
Cons: Price. Not the cheapest suction side cleaner, but the lack of vacuuming and attention has been worth it Hose prices and Baracuda's patented twist lock hoses suck and with my pool I needed one extra. Adapters should be included, however they can be purchased that allow the use of old standard types of hose both at the weir and head, but be aware some hoses have slightly different diameters. Not cheap I ignored the instructions for the amount of suction based on their gauge. Not slow, or not too fast (will wear out diaphragms) The diaphragm (and myself) hates palm seeds (golden cane palms). I may increase the suction to see if these small little terrors can get past before being lodged inside the diaphragm. I usually just cut the seed branches early.
Keep on top of your backwashing and cleaning the skimmer socks and this cleaner runs like a champ.
Spent time on it to get it Working just right. Read on to receive tips on making this cleaner work – Ok, so I bought the baracuda manta from Bunnings. I have a 7m X 3.5m rectangular pool. Initially I thought this cleaner was crap. But then I spent some time playing around with it and got it working brilliantly. 1st. Get an extra weight. Put first weight 2/3 up the first pipe. Put 2nd weight 2/3 up the second pipe. Make hose length same as pool… Read more
plus 1 extra length. Screw the water return valve down tight in the pool filter box. Most importantly- make sure the hose elbow is a tight fit into the filter return. If not, add gaffer tape until it fits tight. Close the front gate slide in the filter if you have one. Your manter should now work fine. It won't clean the shelf but the bottom will be immaculate. I put the cleaner on my shelf and guide it around until clean. Takes 10 mins. Good luck.
Absolutely useless – If you are after a pool cleaner that gets stuck in the first corner it encounters this is the pool cleaner for you, seriously I gave it the benefit of doubt for the first hour or more but after constantly rescuing it, taking it up the other end of the pool, setting it free only to watch it get stuck again I pulled it out and it is going straight back to Bunnings for a refund. Worst Product Ever – Gets stuck on every corner and step in my rectangle fibreglass 8 x 4m pool. I lodged a warranty claim weeks ago, sent several emails and have not received a response. Would steer clear of Baracuda brand at all cost Show details

Rubbish, don’t touch it – Had this for maybe 6 months. Worked well initially and then just stopped working. Replaced pretty much the whole thing with spare parts but after much expense still no luck. Wish I had just spent the money in the first place and bought a cleaner that actually went the distance. Save yourself the trouble Show details
Worth buying – So after looking on the internet for weeks I decided to bite the bullet and purchase this item. And I’m so glad I did. It was easy as to set up and cleans the pool so well. My pool is fibreglass 8 x 4m and it is cleans it without hassle. It has only gotten stuck once and that was on the plug thing at the bottom of the pool but hasn’t been stuck… Read more
since. It is quiet and you don’t here that “thud thud thud” like you do with other models. I don’t have any trees around my pool but my neighbours palm tree is on the other side of the fence constantly dropping crap in the pool and the mantra picks it up easily. Would highly recommend.
excellent product – been using their products for the last 20 years the G3/Manta is a lot better then the g2 was. average life span 5 to 7 years and easiest to get replacement parts for the lockin hose is a brilliant idea thank you for a great product Show details · 1
The worst product in history – Start by imagining the worst product in history. Then think if that product was 4000 times worse and you get the Baracuda Mantra. The most temperamental, delicate and unreliable piece of garbage. Fifth diaphram in a year and I spend more time fixing the mantra then I do In my pool. pool with my mouth would be more effective than this heap of crap. It will either get jammed in corners, float around and not move or trawl the same 3m squared section of my pool relentlessly.
Even the guys at my local pool shop agree they are useless. The only saving grace is that it was at the house when we bought and I didn’t pay for it. I’m looking forward to setting it on fire in the coming weeks and celebrating its death.
It Works! – My zodiac g2 wore off after 10 years so i wanted to try something different. Bought two wheeled cleaner but it wouldn't go to shallow end even with tiled tyres. Decided to not stuff around and went for Manta / G3 and it just works. Show details · 1
Keep it simple – Tried a turbine cleaner for the second time, which was a waste of money again. So went back to a Baracuda. My previous one lasted several years and only replaced due to salt corrosion from been in the pool all the time. Replacement parts like skirt, diaphragm, hose lengths, are relatively expensive, but they are easily replaced and last for… Read more
reasonable time. Does the walls, works under pool cover, picks up most large debris, fraction of the cost of robotic cleaners, and just simply works, so will stick with it, and recommend.
Wouldnt buy it again !!! Purchased Sept 2019 – So far it appears to be going up the walls which is better than my previous Brand (lasted 3 years 1/2 the price), it's doing a great job at suctioning. This was double the price however it has a 3-year warranty, Moving on..... the product didnt last long at all, always stopping for no reason so we replaced it :( Show details

Excellent Pool Vac – We have mostly palms around the pool and the strands fall in dried up and fresh. We have a few smaller leaves that come from the neighbouring tree and small seeds etc. took a few months to finally buy an automatic cleaner as cleaning the pool manually twice a week became tedious. I was so surprised how well this cleans the pool. I did not expect… Read more · 1
it to be as good as it is. So simple to install and the pool is always very clean (we have had some really windy days). I really recommend this cleaner (our pool is 11x4) bought this cleaner and 3 additional pipes. I never leave reviews but knowing how difficult this decision to purchase was and how happy I am I thought I would go online and leave this review.
Very Simple And Performs Well – I purchased this after I tried the Barracuda Tracker Robotic cleaner. Due to some fairly intense internal steps and seating in my pool the Robotic unit had some difficulty, I have mentioned these issues in another review and I certainly don't blame the unit itself. Masters actually sell both these units so I returned the Robotic cleaner and tried… Read more
this unit instead. I couldn't be happier, simple unit that works well and I am sure will give excellent service for years to come. Should also avoid some of the issues with the Robotic cleaners such as the tracks wearing out and requiring replacement along with other internal parts. So for $325.00 including hose's and everything I couldn't be happier. Just sometimes the simpler the better.
