We booked an appointment to test drive a Subaru XV at Bartons Capalaba this morning. We even received an SMS from the Sales person (Des) saying the vehicle was ready for the test drive. Made the 35 minute drive out there and when arrived, no one seemed to know where the vehicle was. A sales person got on the phone to track the vehicle down and… Read more

then told us they had a couple of different sites on Redland Bay road and he confirmed the vehicle was at one of the other sites. So we walked down to the other site and the vehicle was not there. When I questioned why the vehicle was not there when I had received two different confirmation SMS and they requested that we 'book' an inspection time Des said 'yes they are all ready to test drive' and gestured to all of the other cars in the yard. As it turned out, someone else was test driving the car that we had booked & when we saw the car pull up, Des said don't worry, if they buy that car we have plenty more and I can find you a more expensive car and knock the price down. We decided to leave and lucky for us, purchased another car at a different dealership and received incredible service. Would certainly not recommend Barton Capalaba and wish I had of read these reviews before we wasted over an hour of our time this morning.

My wife and I went to Barton Wynnum on Saturday 15/11/2025 ( 10am -1pm) to purchase a Cherry Tiago 4 Ultimate. The trainee sales person was perfect, his manager totally opposite. If you buy a Cherry car,the standard colour is red if you want any… Read more

other colour it is an additional 600$. Barton’s drive away price advertised on the vehicles is therefore incorrect, it should state even though the car is advertised at x amount there is a hidden fee for that paint colour that is advertised for that vehicle. Secondly if you decide to trade in a vehicle , the price that Barton’s says it should be around is just an algorithm. In other words do not think they will give you a realistic trade in price. Without even looking at my car which is in pristine condition the manager said they do not go by the algorithm price. So basically it’s a scam , to get you to the dealer and screw you over. Prior to this , I had very bad experience with Barton’s trying 9 times to fix an oil leak , when it was very blatant that inexperienced mechanics were working on the car. I had to get the dealer principle [Name Removed] to help me which I a truly grateful for. I was under the impression that the dealership had been going through a hard time when Holden left etc, and it was time to give them a second go.

Follow-up  · The oil leak was fixed by getting the rear main seal replaced 5 times . The algorithm is only known by the dealer. It is not used on there trade in calculator site , only when you bring a vehicle in for trade in price. As far as I can recall, the advertised price was$ 26.998.00 and an additional $ 600.00 for the color.

I just had my 4WD rig (Nissan Navara SL Warrior) serviced by Barton’s at Wynnum and am very pleased as ever. I’ve been trusting these guys servicing 3 cars over the last 12 years and have bought two 4WDs with them including my 2yr old current Warrior. Only One Star because there are non lower! – We flew from Melbourne to Brisbane on Friday to pick up our new LDV 9 in Blue! Full of excitement to enjoy our purchase. Delivery person tried to get it fixed - paint guy indicated he would need a couple of days… Read more

to do a 'proper' job. Delivery lady said take delivery so you can get on the road back to Melbourne, get it fixed and send me the bill. Grudgingly we agreed and started the drive home, 500 metres later I notice a mark on the rear vision mirror...broken clear in two pieces! U-turn, back to the dealer apparently a big fix as mechanic broke one trying to remove it from another van.

By this time totally fed up, don't want to deal with them and give us our money back and we will catch the next flight back to Melbourne. Very. Not. Happy.

Followed up with letter to both Dealer Principal by express post and email to Fleet manager...4 weeks later no response, no letter of apology for the bad experience and no offer of recompense for additional flight because of their poor pre-delivery.

MY ADVICE: Don't deal with Barton's unless you like stress, disappointment and being treated poorly.

Apologies for bad pic

Extremely Dissatisfied – I purchased a BRAND NEW i30 in February. While the transaction went well and I left a 5 start review and sent two members of my family to buy brand new cars from the same dealership sadly I have nothing positive to share now. Once I collected the car and picked up my children which was supposed to be exciting for them also we discovered the back… Read more

seat was faulty. Capalaba informed me it was deformed and they needed to order a new rear seat - the back seat would not clip down so it was sitting loosely in the rear lifting. I was advised to drive the car until the new seat arrived, when I queried the safety I was advised there was nothing they could do and it “should be” fine until a new one arrived. This was replaced a few weeks later but then I had MAJOR brake failure in which the brake booster and master cylinder was APPARENTLY replaced - my car was towed by RACQ to Capalaba where this was supposed to have been done. When I got the car back after this major fault I’ve had problems with the hand brake sticking, I have had problems with the brake not being responsive so I contacted RACQ and had it towed to Wynnum where I purchased the car. It has been at Wynnum since the 9th of August and I’ve been informed they can’t find any fault. I went out to the car today to have an outside assessment done to find that the car has been damaged on the bumper since it’s been there, and the assessor also discovered some evidence which I will now be using in my case demanding a full refund and I will not be using Barton’s again. The service department are not trustworthy, the way my car was presented to me today was absolutely devastating to say the least and now I am going down a path for redemption that I was trying to avoid. Extremely disappointing for me and after reading some of the other reviews I am seeing I am not the only person with these complaints.

The worst customer service experience I have ever had. Avoid Bartons Capalaba. I bought a used car here in July 2025 and within 24 hours it had already failed and was back in their service department for statutory warranty repairs. What should have been a simple repair turned into nearly a month of waiting with my car stuck in their workshop from… Read more

17 July until 12 August.

The communication was appalling. Phone calls went unanswered, updates were almost never provided, and whenever I did manage to get information it was vague and unhelpful. I had to constantly chase them just to be told nothing of value. Only after escalating to the dealer principal did I finally get a straight answer. The service manager admitted their team had diagnosed the problem but lacked confidence in their own findings, so outsourced the diagnosis to a third party without ever informing me. Parts were delayed as well, yet I was kept completely in the dark until I demanded answers.

Yes, the car was eventually repaired, but the way this dealership handled the entire process was disgraceful. The lack of professionalism, transparency and basic customer care was unacceptable. Save yourself the stress and stay far away from Bartons Capalaba.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Poor Customer Service and Communication I recently purchased a Hyundai Santa Fe from Barton Motors in Wynnum, Queensland, with an agreement that the vehicle would be transported to my address in NSW. I paid the full amount, including transport fees, in advance and in cash. Unfortunately, the experience that… Read more

followed was extremely disappointing and frustrating.

Despite our agreement, I had to repeatedly chase the dealership for updates on the delivery. The vehicle was not delivered to my address on the agreed-upon date, which forced me to take a day off work unnecessarily. Instead, it was delivered to a Hyundai dealership in my suburb without prior notice. When I contacted Barton Motors, they blamed the transport company and refused to take responsibility.

I had to take another day off to pick up the vehicle. Upon attempting to register the car with Service NSW, I was denied because the original paperwork was not provided with the vehicle. It took another week for the dealership to send the necessary documents—something that should have been included with the delivery.

To make matters worse, the transport company refunded the delivery fee to Barton Motors, as I had paid them directly for the service. It took nearly two months of follow-up to get this refund back, which was rightfully mine. During this time, the salesperson stopped responding to my calls and messages, leaving me completely in the dark.

This was by far the worst vehicle purchasing experience I’ve ever had. Barton Motors showed a complete lack of professionalism and responsibility after receiving full payment. I strongly advise others to be cautious and consider alternative dealerships if you are looking for a reliable and transparent car buying experience.

Buyer beware. I bought a vehicle from Bartons Wynnum in November 2024, and ended up in a lengthy and frustrating dispute that spanned over months, due to serious issues with documentation, vehicle concerns, and post-sale conduct. After signing the sale contract and paying in full, I was contacted a month later and told there was an alleged… Read more

$1,000 shortfall—despite all executed documents showing $0 owing. A PPSR was then registered against my vehicle over a month after the sale. When I asked for documentation to justify this, I was sent a copy of the terms and conditions and the final page of a Form 12—neither of which I had ever seen or signed. Both documents were dated a full week prior to me even visiting the dealership. The Form 12 was incomplete when first provided and included a cooling-off period that had already expired days before I even purchased the vehicle, which entirely defeats the purpose of that document.

After months of back and forth and multiple follow-ups, I finally received the full document. It contained 3 identical, (very obviously) scanned signatures that had been copied from my original sale contract.

When I escalated the issue and presented evidence to senior leadership, the PPSR was removed and the $1,000 shortfall dropped—confirming there was never a legitimate basis for either. Despite my repeated requests, I have never received any explanation as to how my exact handwritten signature—dated 12/11 on the sale contract—appeared identically on a separate document dated a full week before I even visited the dealership.

I contacted Bartons' CEO and other senior staff directly to raise the matter and share the full evidence. It’s now been over a week and to no surprise, not one of them has responded.

I’ve reported the matter to regulatory authorities, and documented everything. I later noticed quite a few other reviews across Bartons' locations describing similar issues, which makes this all the more concerning.

My advice to anyone considering Bartons: Check every document carefully, don’t rely on verbal promises, and get everything in writing before signing or paying anything.

If you've had a similar experience, I strongly encourage you to document everything and report it to the relevant authorities—these practices only continue when they go unchecked.

Beware of Questionable Charges at Bartons Capalaba – My late father was a loyal customer of Bartons Capalaba, purchasing all his cars there and having them serviced exclusively for decades. After his passing, I took his car back for a final service and a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC), trusting that, given its full service history at Bartons, it would be in good condition. Past service receipts had… Read more

shown no major issues.

To my shock, I was suddenly presented with a repair bill exceeding $2,500 for supposed RWC requirements—including a 'low' battery. The battery was fine; it had likely just lost some charge from lack of use while my father was unwell. When I questioned the necessity of these repairs and spoke with the manager, he insisted they were required for the RWC. However, another mechanic later confirmed that several of these charges were not legitimate RWC items.

This experience left me deeply disappointed, especially during an already difficult time. Given my father’s long-standing loyalty to Bartons, I expected honesty and integrity. Instead, I felt misled and taken advantage of. Sadly, I can no longer trust Bartons Capalaba and strongly urge others to seek a more transparent and trustworthy service provider.

Terrible, Disappointing Experioence – I have never been more dissatisfied, aggravated and annoyed when purchasing a new car as I have been with BARTON’S MITSUBISHI. enjoying my new vehicle. The disappointment when I was just about to leave the house to receive a TEXT MESSAGE from BARTON’S MITSHBISHI saying that the registration hadn’t been processed and my car wouldn’t be ready until the following Monday was very hard to process. I was offered a $500 gift card as compensation. Ok, fine. I can wait till Monday. I spent the weekend convincing myself that it was ok, after all, my car was now being delivered. I was sad that I wouldn’t get to see my shiny new car with a big, colourful bow, but I could live with that. When my car was delivered, I was handed the keys and told “see ya”. No quick run through of the main features, no congratulations on your new car. Nothing. My first trip, I noticed the rear dashcam hadn’t been attached. The communication from this point was nothing short of unacceptable. When calling about the dashcam, I was told “oh they always forget to attach it, just do it yourself”. I had to practically beg to receive the gift card that had been offered. I finally received it. I was happy to leave it at this point. 2 weeks later and I receive a toll invoice in the mail. From when BARTON’S MITSUBISHI delivered the car! Are you kidding me? When I called about this, no apology was given. I was told “send it to me and we’ll pay it”. There are a lot of car dealerships around. If you are reading this then I would implore you to get your new car from another dealership. The time I have now spent chasing things up has been ridiculous. I would NEVER EVER purchase from BARTON’S MITSHBISHI again.

investigation. This time the sensor needs to be replaced and they managed to find the issue quickly but still I had to pay for the investigation. Why should I be charged twice for the same investigation when it was a straight forward investigation and fix? Though the cost of the fix was very high went a head and did it as I didn't want to go elsewhere as I'll have to pay for the investigation again. Going back on the other service records with them (thank God I was under warranty) They replaced the steering column twice and the third time it was some other part which fixed the issue. My battery died and the road side assistance guy offered me a battery with 3 year warranty and when I called Bartons they gave a cheaper quote. When I reached all the way there and they told me that it was a wrong quote and the battery was with 1 year warranty and dearer than the other one. I had no choice now and had to replace from them and the battery died in 13 months. I have been going to them for six years and I can absolutely see that they are terrible at service and it is getting worse every time.

Bartons worst service centre ever – I would have to echo the concerns of other previous clients. I have had the misfortune of dealing with these fold.
