No software updates – It's pretty crappy that Tempo do not have any more software updates on this TV. Any current glitches (like tv turning off when switching to certain channels) cannot be fixed. Grrrr Show details
Ultra reliable still going strong – Bought this in August 2015.it has been great. Has 4k tech and ultra hd plus ARC audio. It's included apps are now out of date but I use a 4k fire stick for streaming. Picture is sharp. For a 65inch that was half the price of the nearest brand it has been incredible. I have recently bought a bauhan 70inch Tizen tv for our media room. They are great value. Show details
Best Value for Money 4K TV – Picture Quality is great for the price you pay, you will notice light bleeding on edges in dark scenes! Mine was bought 2 years ago now and still runs fine, though there are reports that they die randomly. Great amount of hdmi ports, no smart tv functionality but I have devices connected to it that give it that functionality! Good Buy! Show details
No parts available when it blows up. Steer clear. NEVER AGAIN – Power board blew up. No parts available. 2+ years old Disappointed My 5th BauhnTV. Repairer told me to buy Samsung or LG as they keep all parts for many years. Show details
good – I like to watch TV on my big screen. If you like watching movies at home, it's very clear, just like a movie if you buy the surround sound system, I like this model of TV. It is light and easy to move. Its pictures and sounds are perfect. The connection is simple, and we like it. If you ask me, I would definitely recommend this big screen TV. Show details
Never again – Maybe my expectations are too high Main board needed to be replaced in the first 4 months. Constant problems with the remote not being picked up by the tv only two years old and the screen flickers and goes black after intermittently. Needs the main board replaced again for the same fault but because it’s more than 12 months from… Read more
purchasing you’re on your own.
Most people would expect to get more than 2 years out of a TV - but clearly only made to last the 12 month warranty period and even required repair during that.
Online forums indicate that it’s a common problem too.
firmware problem after 2 years – The TV is good overall. But after sometime it starts going crazy. The firmware becomes unstable after sometime. You need to update the firmware if you can find it. I am still trying to find the software (Bhaun web page does not download). Overall the TV is really good and I was happy with it. Show details
Wouldn't buy again – Wouldn't recommend. Bought two. Picture OK but speaking out of sync with vision. After 2 years started turning itself off when changing source. Same happened with second TV a few months later. Not offered extended warranty like other brands - now know why. Limited inbuilt apps. Difficult to download firmware to correct issues. Have non smart… Read more
Bauhn TVs which all operate OK
Notice model has been discontinued. Would never buy this brand again in smart tv
Good buy at the time...for a big tv – Bought this 65" 3 x years ago and its still great to this day ..i think paid $1199 then (its prob come down a fraction) but as a 2nd Tv its great..little biffs would be that its slow to initialize, and between applications/channels and to turn on, the remote buttons bit close to each other and the sound is ok..we bought a sound bar to optimize the… Read more
sound. Overall looks good and just using it as a TV works well - im not into high tech stuff so it works for me.
Bleeding image around edges – Not a good TV but can't really complain for the price you pay It's has average looking picture quality. Sound is bad. Needs a sound bar set up or hi find system to compensate Besides that the screen is huge and would suit a rental property or display unit not for everyday use eg gaming, movies Show details
Perfect size – ALDI had these on sale back in June July and they are a great size but are easy to move around. The picture and sound is so clear and it takes our Apple TV perfectly. We watch Netflix etc. the remote has nice size buttons so easy to use. We actually went back and bought a second TV Show details
Blew up after 17 months – Bought this about 1.5 years ago. Terrible sound, needed soundbar. Remote control needed multiple presses. Video and sound sometimes didn't sync. Played with it because it was cheap, but never been happy. Now it's not long pot of warranty and it blew up...literally. Big bang, then smoke came out of the back. Don't buy this, spend a bit more and get a brand name one. Show details
Honestly you get what you pay for with ALDI – It was advertised that it had many special apps and features, but most of the applications are built in TV Guides and ugly windows that pop up and to show you the weather. The interface when using the remote is very annoying, the remote is very slow with the connection to the TV, and graphics look like a windows 98 computer when you scroll through… Read more
the app menu. The picture quality is nothing to rave about, it is only 1080i, not even 1080p full HD. But what can you really expect with Aldi, you get what you pay for I guess. But what you're really paying for is a HDTV. Next time I would spend a little more money a buy something like a Samsung TV that will last you years.

Know better, choose better.
Stay away from Bauhn TV's $1199 died 17 months after purchase – I was lured in by the size of this TV, but that's the only good thing about it. Picture quality was never grealaptop connected via HDMI was very poor quality Remote was rubbish Purchased in September 2015 from Aldi and started using it in January 2016, in February 2017 it has just lost picture. That's 13 months of use. Aldi were helpful in… Read more
escalating my concerns to Tempo the manufacturer, but Tempo didn't want to help at all. I will never buy another BAUHN TV again and warn you to stay away as well. I had previously purchased two other Bauhn TVs without problem but obviously their standards have slipped dramatically. I think any buyer would expect a purchase of $1199 to last a lot longer than this.

Update, i would like to add that after writing a letter of my disappointment to Aldi head office i was offered a full refund on returning the TV. I am very happy with the outcome.
Return it before 12 monty warranty expires! – I bought the 65" 4K TV for $1200 and it has issues where there will be no video and only audio, and then the screen flicks intermittently and repeats itself. Every time it has an episode it goes for 5-10 minutes. I have owned the TV for 4 months and it is doing it more often. Bauhn wanted evidence of the issue so I videoed and sent it to them.… Read more
They don't have more stock now but Aldi will refund me fully before 12 months is up. you can always buy one and return it every year before the warranty is void but I think better to cough up and buy a Samsung
The TV is fine; just be sure to update the firmware – After setting up the TV, I noticed that the set would repeatedly shut down when changing past one specific channel. After updating the firmware via a USB thumb drive (see http://www.bauhn.com.au/65inch-uhd-tv-software-update.html for the firmware file and installation instructions), the problem seems to have been resolved. quality are fine especially when weighed up against the cost of the unit. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product.
With some trepidation but initially happy – Like most people, you just wonder if it could be that good at that price ($1195). Our 8-year-old Sony Bravia LCD had been excellent, until it started to turn itself off, just as I had seen these TV's advertised. I reviewed on line and noted a few negative comments about expiring after 2.5 years (but Aldi giving a full refund under Aust Consumer… Read more
Law) with their Aldi 60 day returns policy, I thought 'why not?' So in we dived (surprisingly one Aldi shop still had them in stock 2 weeks after first seeing them - Creek Road Mt Gravatt East).
In summary, the TV is good it is not EXCELLENT but it is adequate. We run our free to air channels thru Foxtel (no antennae) and the HD channels come up perfectly (we do not have Foxtel Premium for all Fox HD channels) there is an occasional flicker on up close fast motion (either sport or backwards and forwards between subjects) and the standard definition free to air and fox sd channels look 'ok' without being brilliant, probably on a par with the old Sony (comparable Sony 65 inch is nearly $5k)! Interestingly the guy at Video Pro thought that 8 years from a Sony LCD was 'exceptional value" so don't think you are buying a unit that you are going to bequeath to your grand kids!
The sound output is VERY ordinary, very tinny but we run ours thru a Bose system and it is fine.
I am also thinking that these units would be better than those produced in the past 2-3 years that have prompted some negative performance comments.
With the 60 day returns policy, I don't think you can go wrong. If you do not like it then take it back and remember you will need a ute to transport the TV in an upright position. SUV will not cope.
All the best!! Russell
UPDATE - I have never been able to connect the WiFi and can't use a cable in its current position. There is a system upgrade online thru the importer that may improve this aspect. We have decided to keep the TV and have downgraded our view from Good to OK on this site. If you want to be blown away with overall quality in EVERY respect then this TV is probably not for you. I note the 5k Sony equivalent is down to $2400.
UPDATE - APRIL 2017 - Our TCV is still going great guns and I am more than happy to up the rating to 4 stars. They are still available at $899 on multiple releases per year.
best value Tv – I have purchased my 2nd bauhn in past 3 years, first tv lasted 3 years and it was just repaired by me i replaced the capacitors in the power supply as im a qualified tv repairman, now its runs like new and use it as a second tv. (As for the remote it was beyond repair and i reprogrammed a universal remote). I just bought the 48" ATVU48-1015 … Read more
Great value for $599 why spend more on other brand tv's your only wasting your money. Most tvs only last enough to get past warranty date. Its the way the industry works now. Keep the spending cycle.
Do yourself a favour and run down to aldi a buy yourself a bauhn's TV "molly meldrum"
65 in Bauhn tv turns itself off after just turning it on – I purchased the Bauhn 65 in Tv a couple of months ago. I had it still in the box as I was moving into my newly built home. I've had it working for 3 days! I turn it on, then it went off whilst I was in the kitchen. I thought that was strange, turned it on, the Bauhn logo comes up, then it turns off again. Anyone have any suggestions? I will… Read more
ring Bauhn tomorrow to see what is causing this. But I wanted people aware of what I am experiencing as a consumer.
Good budget 65" 4K LCD TV, decent picture needs better sound, lasted over 10 years – This is an UPDATED (December 2025) review of the Aldi Bauhn brand 65" 4K Ultra HD LED LCD TV that was on sale Saturday 12th August 2015, at $1199...for those lucky enough to snag one. Yes the price for 65" TV's has come down a lot since then, but at the time it was the cheapest. OK - so what do you get in a $1200 65" LED LCD with 4K Ultra HD… Read more
resolution I hear you ask? Testing done with free-to-air TV channels and my trusty Western Digital WD-TV Live and BluRay player + a variety of source material (720p, 1080p).
Also - as I am not a computer gamer, I cannot comment on this model's suitability as a gaming display.
And - the TV claims SMART TV / Freeview functionality, something I have not tested. I can think of many things I'd rather be doing than watching catchup TV of free-to-air reality that seems to dominate the airwaves - like root canal therapy with no aneasthetic. But hey to each their own.
I cannot comment on actual 4K viewing, never mind the fact that our commercial TV channels broadcast either at Standard Definition or HD 720 at bit-rates so low as to make YouTube a better option...wait, YouTube is a better option, at least it's ad free (if you haven't installed an AdBlocker into your browser and don't run a VPN, you should do so and you can enjoy your YouTube without ads.
My two benchmarks for image quality/usability are LG 60" Full HD Plasma (Why oh why did they discontinue plasma), which is oh so sublime with movies Samsung 5000 series 32" Full HD LED LCD TV (about 2 years old)
THE GOOD: **************** $1200 for a 65" LCD TV (never mind the 4k ULTRA HD bit) was a seriously competitive price when purchased, about 1/4 to 1/3 of comparable branded (Sony, Samsung, LG etc) and still about 1/2 of "Tier 2 brands" (Hisense, TCL etc.). Today this has changed and now an Aldi 65" is half the price. The on-screen menu, while not the prettiest is pretty simple to use, although newer TVs are much faster.
No issues configuring the unit out of the box, tuning in and deleting all those useless shopping channels like SpreeTV (seriously?) etc. Happy so far.
Remote control, again while not the prettiest, is easy to drive (but see comment below). Good size to operate with single hand, all buttons well labelled and easy to reach. TV's receiving angle is a bit narrow however. Decent battery life (update 2025, had to replace batteries once so far).
Uniformity of backlighting is pretty good, no visible bright spots around edges. This can be an issue with edge-lit TVs, which given the thinness this must be.
The stand (actually two metal legs) seems pretty solid and stable, I think this is better than the single central pillar stand on a rectangular base (which can make TV vibrate if you have a wooden floor on stumps).
TV is very thin (albeit with some implications for sound quality, see below) but does need two people to lift. 3 x HDMI inputs Built in wired Ethernet and WiFi with YouTube etc already programmed in (note YouTube use is painful, better off using a laptop over HDMI). Seems to work happily with a 1080p/24fps/50fps input off my Western Digital WD-TV media player Image quality (after tweaking - see below) with a decent 1080p movie is pretty d#mn good,
12 month warranty is on par with Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Sony etc. And Aldi is a global player with the Bauhn brand being sold worldwide. My previous experience with Aldi's warranty was better than my experience with Samsung warranty so I don't see any issues here. Update 2025 - no issues so far.
UPDATE December 2025 - This TV is still working OK, no visible degradation in image quality. It's now lasted over 10 years of daily use. Can't complain about its longevity.
THE NOT-SO-GOOD ************************** Alas no product is perfect and this Bauhn model does have some shortcomings (but for which there are workarounds).
The first is you need to go into Custom picture mode and really play with the settings to get the best image quality as the defaults are not ideal.
Oh and don't bother adjusting the sound settings - see below.
Secondly - free-to-air TV broadcasts in standard definition look pretty ordinary. To be fair SD will look cr#p on any TV of this size, regardless of brand, you will see blocking, MPEG artefacts etc. Maybe playing with noise reduction etc can fix this, but why bother...there's nothing on Free To Air worth watching unless you like all that brain-rotting reality TV cr#p interrupted by even crEppier advertisements for more reality TV.
Third - the remote control buttons are pretty small. This may be a problem for users with either thick fingers or poorer eyesight. The button spacing is reasonable and font contrast is pretty good. So quite a usable remote, except for the receiving angle.
THE BAD: ************* First - the user manual is woefully inadequate and incomplete. There is no description of picture mode adjustment or what the values are.. Whether a rush job or something got "lost in translation" I don't know.
Second - the TV has a USB input with media playback capability. It claims .mkv file support but only supports FAT32 drives. Seriously - WHY would you bother offering mkv support and then only support FAT32. Those who regularly work with mkv files know that most will only fit on a NTFS or exFAT drive due to file size. UPDATE 2024: smaller .MP4 files on FAT32 USB work fine.
Third - the sound quality out of the built-in speakers is woeful. Thin, tinny with no bass. Kind of like "Alvin and the Chipmunks" stuck inside a cardboard box. Don't even bother plugging in headphones, they will sound just as bad. To be fair - would anyone buy a TV this size and NOT use it with external audio?
Fourth (update 2024) - "Smart TV" functionality is poor, connecting to YouTube or anything else is painful and slow. Better off to run YouTube on a laptop and just connect a HDMI to the TV. At least that way you can block those pesky YouTube ads with an Adblocker extension to your Firefox browser. and a VPN. Just treat the TV as a big monitor.
Summary / Conclusion: ***************************** Am I happy with my purchase? Definitely, given the size / price equation (even if it wasn't 4K capable). Is it perfect? No. But was a good buy at the time and has lasted. Would I recommend this model to friends and family - DEFINITELY, for the price I don't think you can beat it. UPDATE September 2024 - I think this is still the case given the price has now dropped. Are there better TV's? Sure. But not for the price.
UPDATE JULY 2021: ******************** TV Still working after 6 years. SmartTV functionality very slow, but fine if you use external media device for playback. So overall still happy with purchase. Will probably replace with another Bauhn when this finally dies.
UPDATE JUNE 2022: ******************** TV still working, no noticeable degradation in image quality. Note I've never actually used it for free to air TV so can't really comment on SD image quality. But it continues to work well with HD1080p content off a WD media player / upscaling DVD player
UPDATE MARCH 2023: ************************ TV still working OK, so cannot complain about its longevity thus far.
UPDATE AUGUST 2023: ************************* TV still working OK, so still cannot complain about its longevity thus far, and this is with daily use. So after nearly 8 years of daily use this thing still works. On that basis I'd probably risk buying another Aldi TV again when it comes time to replace. Hopefully they've updated their SmartTV functionality. Given that the price for a 65" has now dropped to well under $1000, it's even better value for money than what I paid for my one back in 2015.
Update September 2024: ******************* Still working fine. No obvious image degradation or dead pixels. Can't complain about the longevity.
Update June 2025: ******************** Still working fine. No obvious image degradation or dead pixels. This is with daily use. I will advise when it finally dies.
Update December 2025: ************************** As per above - still working happily.
