Inferior manufacturing – Looks cute. However……the wheels fell off after one month. No proper axle to support the weight. It was designed with screws going into the plastic frame which have stripped. Hopeless manufacturing. Show details
After sales support is an overseas call centre who don’t know anything about. Avoid BEEFEATER ! – The worst customer service from a so called premium BBQ . Their spare parts contact are an overseas call centre that have absolutely no product knowledge, instead referring you to a local dealer who doesn’t know the products. All I was after were replacement burners and they can’t get that right or give me the correct info … I’d stick with Weber if I had the choice again , avoid beefeater at all cost is my advice . Poor Quality – Bought my bugg approximately 18 months ago. Disappointed with heat. So far wheels have fallen off trolly due to wrong bolts used. Front handle broken off after it became brittle from heat exposure. Naturally I’m disappointed and followed up with Harvey Norman and in turn Beefeater. They didn’t want a bar of it and put it down to wear & tear.… Read more
Opinions would vary on that. What their lack of response says to me is that they only expect their BBQ’s to hold up for roughly 18 months and after that you shouldn’t be surprised if it starts to fall apart.
Hi Tim, Vivian from Electrolux here. We would… Read more
Great cooking abilities….disappointing manufacturing – Beading on lid fell off on second use. Had to replace burner ring within first year and just about to change the second one. The grill and plate are I’ll-fitting and can and have collapsed into the burners during a bbq. A shame as the bbq cooks brilliantly. Show details

Good for Serious BBQers – Had read other reviews before getting a Bugg from eBay. The Unit is unused and left in the balcony for a few years so it's dusty and the trolly has some surface rust...not a big problem. First trial shown the heat is enormous and even, you wouldn't get such performance from a Webber as the Bugg has two separate burners, laid out evenly and… Read more
nicely. It took only minutes to get ready for action!
I am going to use it for cooking small meals such as daily cooking as you can use only one grill and one burner. Of course, you need to watch it, it can get overheating easily, it's not a kitchen oven which has temperature control.
The original knobs are wobble a bit as the spindle slot is half metal half plastic and the lever action doesn't help either as the knob is long and the slot is short. But the fix is easily found, You can buy the new knob with full metal insert from Electrolux at very reasonable price. I did it. It feels sturdier now.
The main problem is the grease tray. You need to remove the trolly locking pin to take the tray out. If you are not careful, when the hood is springing up, the whole top can tip over. It did this to me and caused some small damages.
If you don't have the trolly you won't have this problem.
My fix is to remove the two brackets forming the slide slot and afterwards the grease tray can slide in underneath the locking pin while the locking pin is still in locking position. I also put warning labels everywhere to avoid repeating the safety hazard. New brackets can also be made of using Bunnings' materials to enable the tray to slide in and stop in the right position. Alternatively, you can find or make up a tray thin enough to slide in underneath the locking pin. The other positive news is if you buy the Bigg Bugg, this problem has been fixed.
So Bugg or Webber Q, it depends what's your priority. My opinion: Bugg is the better performer but the make is a bit rough, the hood is made of enamelled steel so it's a few Kgs heavier and can get rusty if neglected. I've also found, like a lot of long established local brands, less reliable machines can be compensated by easily available and inexpensive replacement parts. So when the thing breaks down, as more often they do, you know the rescue is not too painful. The Webber is full Aluminium so lighter, better made, more fool proof. Although the cooking is a bit ordinary it's indeed hassle free.
Looks good but cheap quality – Cooks well and has a thermometer but after a couple of years of very light use, the top has warped out of shape and the rubber seal has fallen off meaning the top bangs when closing. I would have expected better quality materials than this. One of the plastic gas control knobs has always been loose meaning the gas is hard to turn off and on. … Read more
As others have said, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned after every use since food falls down under the burners and grease goes everywhere. But this might be standard for this type of BBQ.
Expensive, but super sturdy – There are many other grills in the market that you can get for a cheaper price, but this grill has an exceptional quality to it. The rubber lining to contain the heat is really thick and does a great job. The iron plates are very sturdy, but can be difficult to clean. It is easily portable and can be taken on camping trips and fits easily in the trunk of cars. Show details
Handy little BBQ – We needed a bbq in an hurry and this one was a great price. It’s portable and looks good in our entertaining area. It’s mostly used for grilling, but has also worked well as an outdoor oven. Really good value for money. Cooks a surprising amount for such a compact unit. Show details
Dangerous Design – I find the unit cooks well, Does a great Roast but after 12 months looks like a 5 year old unit. Rubber edging on lid fell off after half a dozen uses & lid enamel after several uses loses colour and has black streaks & Spots. However main issue is design with location of Knobs requiring your arm to reach over or around hot lid to the back of… Read more
unit. When concentrating on keeping hands clear of hot surface with domed shape lid I have on multiple times made contact with forearm and suffered burns. Note The higher the BBQ table surface is or the shorter the unit is the more likely this will occur when reaching over or around. Control Knobs should be located on front or side of unit as is Bigg Bugg design.
The best BBQ I have ever owned – I can't say enough good things about my BBQ, not only does it like great, it cooks meat to perfection! It is a great size also - not too big, not too small. Perfect for the weekend BBQ with family coming over. It is very easy to clean and easy to move around if needed. Show details
Compact and easy to use – Very happy with our new BBQ. It's compact but is at the same time big enough for us to use (family of 4). The only issue we have with it is cleaning the plates afterwards. But other than this, we are very happy with our purchase. Will definitely recommend this for a small family. Show details
Nothing short of wonderful – I bought 3 of these a few years ago for a Holiday Park I ran and was so impressed by them when it came time to replace my own personal BBQ, there was only one choice. It is compact but has enough height for stand up large chicken roasts, the controls are easy to work out and the finish quality is as good as the rest of the BeefEater range. It is… Read more
so easy to move around and/or put away. The removeable wing attachments make the whole thing so much easier to clean up, especially after a big, fatty and messy slow roast.
The High Cost Of High Prices? – Falling apart straight away... well to be totally honest, 6 days. There is a black rubber gasket/seal that fits snugly around the edge of the hood this has fallen off and after 30+ minutes of trying to get it back on... I've given up. Unless I decide to cut the gasket off myself and do without it permanently, this Beefeater Bugg is now… Read more
unusable. Harvey Norman at Caringbah, NSW and/or Fair Trading NSW will be alerted about this tomorrow.
Also as someone else commented in their review, there are two tiny little black rubber pads on the lower front positioned here so the hood closes nicely, mine also fell off. I put them back into position but they have fallen off again without my knowing. These are are now lost somewhere off the edge of my veranda . This is clearly a reoccurring documented fault that has not been rectified by Electrolux/Beefeater to this date.
I have recently had the displeasure of dealing with the glacially slow, rude customer service division at Electrolux (I could write a book on that one!) so I'll skip the middleman this time and serve Harvey Norman with a letter of demand, if necessary.
Based upon the avelance of complaints about the cheaply made lower chrome grill rusting away so quickly, I may spray mine with a black rust resistant enamel spray paint, before l've got something else to complain about.

We love it – We bought an ex display model from Masters to take on camping trips and now its on our patio permanently. Had it for about 12 months now. Ive read all the reviews and was a little hesitant to buy it. So glad we did. Weve done fish in foil with the lid closed, countless steaks and sausages and bacon n eggs. Ok so the temp takes a bit to master,… Read more · 1
but we've got it down pat. Cooks perfectly everytime.
Our only gripe is the fat tray. Its quite small, but that would not deter me from recommending it to others.
Finally after all this time, we just purchased the trolley. Ive read reviews saying how hard it was to out together and sorry for those that had a hard time, but my hubby did it in next to no time. He just got out of hand surgery 5 days ago and put it together with a bandaged hand! No need to drill holes like others have said. Maybe we just got lucky.
As my hubby is the bbq master of the family, i asked him his opinion of it overall. He said it was the best bbq he has owned. The temp is perfect and he loves the size of the plates. Plenty of room to feed a small tribe!
Great BBQ. Needs Improvement – The Bugg is a great little bbq. Pros: Plenty of heat compared to its major competitor. Comes half grill, half plate which is great. 2 seperate burners which allows me to only use half the bbq if need be, hence saving on gas. Very good ignition. Unusual with the controls at back of bbq, but got the hang of it. The bbq itself very solid and… Read more
easy to clean.
Cons:
I found trolley easy to build compared to others experience however it is combersum to manoevre. Need to redesign trolley to move in sideways direction. Fat tray way too small, fills to quickly. A pain when wanting to remove fat tray. The plastic construct a little flimsy.
Overall probably the best bbq on the market, but needs some refinement particularly the trolley.
Bug BBQ – i bought mine about a month ago for a single person its great the stand was easy to put together works good i use it all the time i thought i was putting it together when one of the wheel bracket was missing so i went back to Bunnings they got one for me
Disgusted with the dodgy trolley ! – My husband purchased the Bugg a couple of months ago. We were excited to get rid of our big cumbersome bbq and downsize to a smaller more manoeuvrable BeefEater Bugg. Took ages to put together, and had to redrill screw holes which were out of alignment. Used it last night and moved it no more than 5 foot on the patio. The wheels fell off straight… Read more
away. Dreadful design. He has now removed the wheels completely and I will be expected to help him lift it into positio every time we want to use it. We were more than happy with the bbq itself, but for the price ( separate to the bbq purchase) it's a total rip off.
Wire Shelf – Purchased (Bugg) out door model after 2 months the wire shelf has surface rust all over frame. The Bugg is the best BBQ I have ever had so disappointed that rust spoils the purchase. Not sure how to handle as I paid to get assembled and I am not in a position to dismantle and return to retailer due to health reasons.
Crappy wheels – Had the bugg for few days, the wheels fell off in a short 2m push. Called the vendor for replacement, got a new set of legs, tried not to over tighten at all. Same situation of wheels and bolts coming off. Basically just a bad design and not worth the $200 for the stand. At the end, have to resort to some bolts and nuts from Bunnings. Looks aweful but can do nothing much with a crappy design.
Ok if you can find it discounted – I bought my Bugg from Mitre 10 in Bondi Junction recently on a special - $300 including stand and accessories. Awesome value. Pros - Easy to use. Fairly sturdy design - the BBQ itself feels more substantial than a Weber. Consistent, predictable cooking results. Looks attractive. Very frugal on gas use. Cons - Trolley is fairly difficult to… Read more
assemble. The grease drip-tray that slots underneath the BBQ is horrendously undersized and will, without a doubt, fill up and overflow mid-cook if you are cooking something very fatty - ie chicken thighs with skin. The drip tray is locked into place with the same mechanism that secures the BBQ to the stand - this is difficult and somewhat hazardous to remove if you need to empty the super-small drip tray mid cooking. The wheels on the trolley are mounted on the rear two legs rather than the side two legs which makes it quite awkward and unbalanced to move around if you need to.
Conclusion - Good value if you can find the whole shebang for $300 on sale like I did. If they are asking full price ($600) then go and buy a Weber instead.
Bugg great – Wow..my bug is unreal...did oysters in shell , prawns and finished off with whole snapper 3 kg. ..amazing...have cooked pork roasts and steaks, snags and skewers. Bought it from Harvey Norman in Busselton already assembled for 600 bucks...A bit more expensive than the webber but loads better. I used my m8s baby webber to cook chops and not hot… Read more
enough... so looked at reviews and upgraded to the Bugg. So thanks To the great crew as well in busso Harvey Norman I'm cook n with gas....Yum yum.
Baby steps but we got there! – I love the look of my Bugg as I chose the bright yellow cover! On special at Bunnings. Found trolley very difficult to assemble - people who can construct IKEA with eyes closed couldn't do it! Contacted Beefeater to no avail. Ready to return until one more person persevered and put BBQ together (no mean task!). But since I have cooked with it I am… Read more
rapt! Both open and shut to cook with it turns out perfectly every time. And it still looks sexier than a Weber Q!

I like my BUGG, its a good BBQ – So my story goes a little something like "my friend got me a gift certificate, and the only portable BBQ worth getting at this store was the BUGG". I did some searching around on the web about the BUGG, only to find shocking reviews. Now and then though I would find a view saying the BBQ is quite good which made me think it was best for me to… Read more
take a look at one up close. When I looked over one at the shop it looked quite good. At the end of the day we aren't talking about anything ground breaking in technology right; As long as it burns gas, and cooks meat it's good for me so I bought one. (The burner lighting mechanism is impressive though) As soon as it was in the door at home the box was ripped apart, the manuals unrapped, and the building commenced. (Take your time reading the manual, this is standard with ANYTHING you buy) It was straight forward and in no time it was ready for fuel, and some oil tray sand or rock. I fired it up, and wanted to see if I could regulate the heat for roasts like so many people complain about. One gas burner on low gave me 150-160 Degrees C which is perfectly fine, and you can ramp this BBQ right up with two burners. The first thing I cooked was a 1 kg lamb roast, and it came out bloody perfect. The following night stakes where grilled to perfection. My view on the BBQ is it absolutely fine for most people. it may not be a Ziggy or Webber that everyone praises so much, but I can't wait to cook more on my BUGG. I have little rascal of dog that I was worried about chowing into the gas bottle hose, (even thought the gas bottle hands off the trolley), so I got the BUGG cover to which fit perfect over the entire BBQ and trolley. All up a very neat and tidy unit, which I can only recommend.
Don't buy this crap BBQ – OK I brought this BBQ back in March and wanted to like it, thought it was Australian, but when you read the fine print it states Designed in Australian. The design term needs to go back to the drawing board. We haven't used it that often as is makes such a MESS of our deck. If you cook on low with the lid closed, it still drips fat all over the… Read more
stand, gas bottle and the surrounding area. It's a pain in the butt to clean, after first cleaning the heat control knobs lost their markings. The design needs reworking, the lip on the cooking plate needs to be on the outside of the lip to keep the fat inside rather than having it drip all over the place. Find the best way to clean it via a pressure washer.
Basically not worth the $600 I paid for it, maybe $25 would be more in line for this product. I'm giving it away to someone I don't like and buying a weber next week.
So I brought a weber 2000, it's everything they say it is. Great cooking easy to clean, designed… Read more
Don't waste your Money!!! – We brought this cost 600.00, it broke when we were putting it together. Rang Harvey Norman and got it replaced. The replacement was just as bad. We used it once, the numbers on the heat dial disappeared. Phoned beefeater twice, they were just as bad as the barbie, didn't work either. It is now a pot plant holder. Seriously, it only looks nice in… Read more

Best portable style – Had the Bugg now for 12 months. Had an issue with the paint coming off the control knobs which apparently was an early issue, However beefeater sent out replacement parts same week, so was happy with the customer service. Easy to remove from the base and great for taking away on family trips.
