Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty

Rubbish! Brand new shed slab, cured for 3 1/2 months, pressure washed and left to dry for two hot days, two coats of paint 24 hours apart, left untouched for 2 1/2 weeks as we went away, parked on it yesterday for the first time with cold tyres, moved the car this morning and the paint lifted. Very disappointed, 50m2. Show details
Follow-up · More paint comes off every time I move the car. Texture was smooth not polished Car is a Nissan patrol. That makes no difference? Paint was applied with a roller
This concrete driveway paint is useless. We followed the instructions to the tee. Now after 4 weeks the paint is lifting. We hosed one area today to remove some leaves and the paint came off. I took the wheelie bin across it and the paint lifted. 2 coats days apart on a totally clean/dry gurneyed concrete surface and then 8 days before we… Read more
even walked on it. $600.00 worth of useless paint as well as very long hours of hard work applying it. There is no way we are going to physically redo this with a so called better product. This product is called Berger Heavy Duty Protection Jet Dry. Hard Wearing paint for no -sloping driveways and garage floors….
Still no contact from Berger. Every single detail you asked for has been sent but no response from you.
Terrible prodcut. Waste of time and money. Bought this early this month to paint the floor of my garage. Had the floor cleaned and sanded, waited for it to dry before I paint. Apply 1st coat as instructed, 2nd coat the next day. Wait for seven days before I parked the car in the garage. Next morning when I drove the car out, the paint came off! … Read more
Aside from this, the paint emits a very strong smell, I assume the VOC level must be really high. Also, it collects dust so easiy and the floor now look really messy. Do not recommend to anyone.
Now I am facing the trouble to get rid of the whole thing to apply something else that will last.
Would definitly seek to refund the product.

Berger Jet Dry Heavy Duty - Don't use on Garage floors as it peels even after only 2 days use – I purchased the paint about a month ago from my local bunnings and applied as per the paint specialist there's advice. I applied 3 coats in total, waiting 24hrs between applying each coat. I then waited 10 days before my wife drove on it and parked her car overnight on it (25th July). Today is the 27th July and the attached photos of what has… Read more
happened to the paint is from this morning the 27th. Only 2 days after use it is already peeling off and exposing the concrete base floor.
The garage concrete floor was poured in Jan and painting occurred in July. From Jan to July the garage was not used as the house was being built. We just moved in on the 25th July. The garage floor was clean and fully cured. The floor was totally dry prior to application and as per bunnings paint specialists advice. It was rough to touch (concrete floor that is so that the paint can grip i guess).
It's unbelievable that just after 2 days of use - and with my wife just parking her car on it overnight, the paint is already peeling off.
All i can say is that if your considering buying this paint, then don't, save your $200 to $300 dollars and buy another brand. This one just doesn't work for garage floors. It's only redeeming feature is that it looks nice. But certainly not fit for purpose. I have contacted Berger but received no reply from them yet.
Just wish i hadn't spent so much money on this product and so long on the painting. 3 coats takes some time to do. Also the smell/fumes that are released are quite strong so i made sure my garage door was open when painting and open all the time to allow it to dry over those 10 days.

Dangerous product & slippery when wet – We painted the driveway only a week ago. This evening it has rained and I can't drive into the garage as the wheels on the car spin as too slippery. My husband walked barefoot on the driveway to take the rubbish out to the bin, he fell and has injured his knee so severely that he isn't able to walk. Not Worth the money and will lift where tyres sit - hot or cold Just as waste of $ 250 – I applied paint to a garage floor. Sanded, etched area. Cleaned with the recommended Berger cleaner, twice three days apart and vacuumed cleaned. Painted two coats, three days apart using an industrial roller. Then waited two weeks before driving two cars from drive into garage. Tyres were not even hot. Next day the paint had lifted where the… Read more

Did the job, happy with finish and durability – We bought this property 2 years ago and the driveway and walkways were painted in a terra cotter finish. It had faded and was chipped at the entrance to the driveway. I tested the paint with metho and determined that it was oil based. I used Berger Jet Dry full gloss. My preparation was to scrub the concrete the a broom and concentrated sugar… Read more · 1
soap, then use my high pressure water blaster and finally sanded with a broom sander. A heavier grit sand paper was used at the entrance to the drive way for the chips. Painting was as recommended on the tin and the usual waiting period was followed before driving on it. This occurred In March last year, whilst the full gloss has lost a bit of its shine, it’s in the sun all day and we live in Queensland the paint is holding up. No peeling or flaking. The paint does show faint tire marks from turning into the driveway. This occurs when the weather is hot however I use a spray on detergent and pressure wash the driveway every month or so to keep it new looking. Heavy rain will also clean it to some degree. I was very concerned after reading all the bad reviews about Jet Dry especially when I read something from the Berger people recommending not to use the paint on oil based paint but I had bought the paint, paid over $500.00 worth. Would I recommend this paint, absolutely. In my circumstance the original paint was sound and I believe I did all the right things in preparation.
I don't think it's that great for my job – I went to Bunnings with the intention to buy a flat charcoal pavers paint for my veranda. After a staff member offered help and advise on the best product I was sold jet dry heavy duty. I etched the concrete, pressure cleaned it and applied the first coat with a roller that was thinned by 10% with the recommended reducer. The coverage is less than… Read more
the recommended so I wanted to buy another litre to mix in with the remainder for the final coat, but it looks like I can't buy 1 litre. For me the gloss level is way too high. I don't think Bunnings should sell products or recomend products that they don't know much about.
Like alot of other reviews on here, the customer is left with a finish or product that they are not really happy with and the only solution is to spend alot of money to grind the concrete and start again. I did not ring customer service as the other reviews say that little assistance or support is offered. I would not put a flat finish over the top in fear that it may not stick or fail. I think I was over sold on the product that I really needed. I won't be so open to Bunnings offering me advice in future and I will also check that small quantitys can be purchased.
The product quality may very well be ok, but it's not what I wanted. I think I won't use Berger again.

It's good paint for the job – I've just done the garage. 36 sq m. Cloud grey gloss jet dry oil base. First coat. It's not cheap paint, but I don't think it's expensive either. and the website. They are crap instructions guys. A do-over, with clear step by step would be a great start. It's not a hard job, nor is it a difficult product to use. Step 1). Clean with the power washer or hose and broom. Step 2). Apply active clean. Scrub floor. A lot. Rinse and repeat step 2. Rinse well Step 3). Mix and apply acid etch. Scrub. And again. And again. Power wash. And again, and again.. Remove as much water as you can with a broom or squeegee. Wait. Ten hours. (go out for dinner and a movie, get some shut-eye) do the plastic bag test. Step 4. Paint. It stinks. Wear a proper face filter. Let dry for 16 hours. Yeah right. It's gunna rain soon. The can says 16 hours between coats. It's dry now. Do I wait another 8 hours? Wth??? I put it down good and heavy straight from the can, with the 20mm roller, and plenty of ventilation, and even on a cool night it's dry. To walk on anyway. It's the workshop, not for cars, so we're not to fussed about tread marks, but the machinery is on the back lawn. I just want the job finished, and the workshop back together. We've got stuff to do, Easter is done, and the phone is ringing.
Come on dulux. Get some proper instructions together. You're the masters of paint, or you used to be.

or paving paint outdoors particularly GLOSS you need to add Active Grip ! I can't stress this enough
This will ensure that no one slips over when it's wet & your car can get in the Garage . Berger GLOSS for driveways is NOT recommended if the drive has a gradient of 1.2Mt high over a 8 Mt length . You need to use an Avista Product instead !
Please people if you're still unsure of product research online also , don't just Rush in & start the job , YouTube is your friend !
Hopefully this helps you achieve the best results for your job ;-)

ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY – This product is an expensive waste of time. We followed the instructions exactly. Even waiting a few extra days after degreasing and cleaning to ensure floor was dry. The can says not to drive on for 7 days. We waited 10 and still came off where the tyres sit at night. Great product – I painted my entire driveway about four years ago with Berger Jet Dry and up until today not a problem whatsoever. pressure washing only, this time I am going to apply a sealer coat hoping it won’t fade, but must say I am 100% happy with this product. Drying enough to walk on only 2 hours, driving car on next morning, last time was not a problem so I am expecting the same this time around. Neighbour’s commented how much better the grey was over plain old stained concrete, no complaints.
Using it for years – I’ve been using it for years and couldn’t be happier. I’m rough on the painted surfaces with both cars and dragging heavy items over it, it’s extremely hard wearing. The trick to this, and with any concrete painting, is in the preparation, I spend a lot of time preparing the surface with acid washing and degreasing. I also give it a lot of cure… Read more · 1

Worst pain ever – Since this paint was put down, nothing but trouble. I even left it for 1 month before a car was to drive over it, however now being nearly 8 months afterwards still car tyre marks come up, another one yesterday, this paint for the very expensive price should be rated -10. Jet dry works well but read up first – Excellent coverage and it is low odour. Surface prep is critical and the online and can instructions are important. Dont just race ahead as its not like wall paint and poor results may occur.. Thin and applies well. Use a thin nap roller eg i used 3mm which was best. Dont apply with rain coming AT ALL and leave for the time indicated afterwards.… Read more · 1
Eg 2 days paths and a week for garage. It will look dry but isnt cured and hard.
I painted over selleys paintable silicone as gap caulk and it worked perfectly. Great for conc paver gaps just carefully wiped into gaps and excess cleared. Allow days to dry.
Different product is available to suit different appearance eg satin gloss hduty etc. And heavy duty is not water based and is low odour. I added 50% of non slip beads to 4l but it is a bit. Less is best.
Its Pretty good – It took about 30 mins to recoat I did my double garage and my shed all with two coats, It went on easily enough , from a 10lt can. Yet in the Garage to drive on it does leave hot spots from the tyres and that took several coats at intervals to cover. it all covered with both cars. Yes It is terrible slippery when wet , and I must say possibly putting sand in the paint when painting next time would eliminate the slipperiness. We haven't had much rain as yet so the cars have not been wet when in the garage. It was on the reject trolley, so I was not too fussed on the colour it was Grey like a battleship colour which was fine some thing to stop the dust and gives a really good appearance.

Berger Jet Dty – Used Berger Jet dry Must use the clear Anti slip additive By Berger just pour it in the paint and mix If painting over silastic joints Be patient for the oil base paint to dry It took probably a good 48 hours to do over the joints so don't keep touching them. And that was in summer. Came out great No peeling yet My driveway was very porous which is what you want. Show details · 1

Dangerous slippery surface – Dangerous!! Creates an extremely dangerous, high gloss, slippery surface. Painted my driveway and outdoor areas with this. sure why) so I can't match the colour to paint back over it. What genius thinks a high gloss surface is safe on a driveway, garage, outdoor area? The tin has a picture of a car on it, and I specifically told the bunnings guy what I wanted to paint. Now I've got high gloss turps based paint on my driveway that I can't remove and can't colour match to paint non-slip over the top. The former house owner had painted the same product on before he sold and it was flaking and peeling off after 3 years, so I'm stuck with it. Stupid product.

provided a proper and crystal clear instructions nor has not taken into account the fact that how and where this product will be used and by whom, i.e, DIY enthusiasts. Have used this product in the past and still using it and never failed. One of the common mistakes that applicators do is washing the floor prior to paint. There is nothing wrong with that, yet the complications starts right from that moment and I guarantee you that your work most likely will fail, if ya don't get the washing process right. I personally avoid washing, where possible, and thin the product down to certain percentage on the first coat and to a lesser percentage on the second coat and never ever been disappointed. In brief, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the product but the way it is applied, for sure. Only problem with this product is the fact that it is not UV resistant and need enough time to cure properly, may be upto three weeks curing time is needed. Concrete driveway paint – Hello I have 3 issue I would like to bring to your attention and if I wrong saying what I am about to say please correct me and I apologise so here I go. bunnings warehouse and explain to the man in paint department I was looking for the correct paint for my driveway and then started to run me though the procedure on preparing and panting my concrete driveway so I listened and took his advice. I explain to him what I have done and he said I am definitely ready painting. He then suggested I use rapid trend oil base gloss so I thought he obviously knows more than me about painting and paints due to him working in the paint department of bunnings he also said I could drive on it after 2 hours of finishing the job.(he said paint will be dry) My point is someone like myself who hasn't got no experience in paint and can't read the best takes advice from someone who I think has experience in painting and paints given he works in the paint department of bunnings gives me false information on when I can drive on my driveway """Issue number 1""" How can people sell your products but know nothing about them and give false information to customers lucky for me I didn't drive on my painted driveway
"""Issue number 2""" How can a company like berger paints bring out so many different concrete floor products and expect a person will know what is the correct one for there job here is just a few of different concrete items. (forgive me if I am wrong) 1) premium wet look sealer 2) concrete dye 3) concrete stain 4) low lustre and gloss enamel patio and porch floor paint 5) wetlook sidewalk sealer 6) premium solid colour concrete stain 7) premium one epoxy concrete and garages flaws 8) granite grip 9) semi transparent concrete stain 10) porch and patio floor paint 11) heavy duty floor paint 12) jet dry non-slip 13) jet dry aquatrend textured finished 14) jet dry heavy duty gloss 15) jet dry non slip flat 16) water based topcoat 17) weather coat I think this is wrong and very very confusing on a customer
"""Issue number 3""" I tried to make sense of the directions on the back of 10 and I took on board what the man said to me in the paint department at bunnings and I believe I done everything correctly but why is it every time I walk on the concrete I leave footprints marks and it feels like it is not drying correctly. So in summaryi bought all the products to clean the concrete I bought 4 tins of rapid trend oil base gloss black paint I bought one tin of the beige I bought one tin of the clear sealer and all up I spent over $500 hundred dollars on berger's products for a finish I am not happy with at all very disappointed with the service I received at bunnings and very disappointed with the product I used and very disappointed on the outcome of the finished product.

The right way to apply from a painter – Is a good product. Where a lot of people get caught out with this is they don't know what they are doing with the surface preparation before hand. The concrete surface should be degreased and free from any dust, dirt or oil. (I can see from pics this has not been done in some cases). The concrete should also be etched after with a diluted… Read more
hydrochloric acid. Follow directions when using as this is corrosive. What etching does is is roughen the concrete slightly and makes the floor paint stick to the concrete really well. If the concrete is too smooth, the paint won't stick well when cars drive over etc.. Once the concrete is degreased, dried, etched and then dried again. You should have no problems with Berger jet dry lifting after applying. If your applying over a previously painted surface. Make sure all loose paint is all removed and sand over with an electric sander (80-120 grade sand paper) I hope this helps. Regards Mark

Not very happy with the product – It is a bit saddening for me to write this review. I would have wished that it was a positive one. I have a front veranda (1953 build) which needed re-coating. ensure there was no dust or debris remaining.
The first coat was placed onto the concrete and then barricaded to ensure no foot traffic on the newly pained surface. After 5 days of drying (in full sun 24 - 27 degrees C day time temperature) I walked on the surface and noted that it creased/crinkled under foot.
After a further 48 hours I placed a light second coat resulting in the paint failing in patches.
I have used jet dry before but never with this outcome??
At $233.00 a drum plus the time and effort this has resulted in a less than acceptable outcome. I feel that the only recourse will be to strip the whole area back to bare concrete and start again with another, more competent product.

to dry for more than 12-weeks (concrete was poured in Nov-16 and wasn't painted until July-17). I followed the instructions for applying the heavy duty paint in multiple coats.
After drying, I found that this paint was soft and prone to easily being scratched for over a month. So, if you do use this product, try to avoid anything that could damage the surface while it is till curing properly.
To my disappointment, the paint was lifted/peeled by car tyres. That is, despite following the application instructions, the paint is now peeled away where each of my car tyres sit. I expect this was due to the paint still being soft (although 'dry') or possibly the warmth from the tires softening the paint.
If using this product, I recommend applying it in multiple light coats (ie 3+) and then avoiding placing anything heavy on the painted surface for at least 4-weeks.
