Bosch HSB745256A Questions & Answers
VerifiedDo I replace bottom element of my oven
We have had a tech look at our HSB745256A/02 Bosch dual fuel oven and said that we need new door hinges and a new seal. We are very disappointed with thta as we are pensioners and have hardly used the $3000 appliance. It seems this is a problem which many users are facing. I wonder if Bosch is willing to come clean and replace the hinges and seal as a matter of good customer service????

Thanks very much for yr prompt response I'll email Bosch as suggested
Don’t waste your time. I replaced the hinges twice and they failed for the third time. I dumped the whole Bosch unit and bought another brand. Will never purchase Bosch products again.
I have just discovered this website when commencing research on how to fix faulty door hinges on our Bosch HSB745256A oven. I am horrified to realise that the Bosch brand name is associated with such a poor reputation for product design and failure. Our oven also will not close properly any more and I certainly do not wish to spend further money on replacement hinges which are simply going to fail again. Has Bosch come up with a solution to appease wronged owners of this cooker model?
Hi Tim, We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with your oven. There is no known issue with the hinges on this appliance. If you'd like us to investigate your issue further, please feel free to email us at socialmedia.au@bshg.com, quoting BSH7172 in the subject line with your purchase receipt and any service reports and we'll investigate for you. Regards, Bosch Home Australia.
Hi Tim, no update by Bosch and seems very unlikely it will ever happen. I see from the reply above Bosch is encouraging you to contact them. If they were as good at fixing their junk products as they are at monitoring social media posts about their products they would be awesome.
Bosch did the same for me about a year ago, most other people that had this contact from Bosch got their hinges replaced free of charge but they advised me after sending a tech to look at the oven that they would not do a goodwill offer for us. They offered that we could buy another Bosch oven for 50% of list price (Bosch list price is about 40 - 50% more than they sell for at electrical retailers in any case). My response to them was why would I waste any more $$$ on buying junk Bosch products. Good luck getting Bosch to give you a good will hinge replacement.
The hinges seem to last about 3 years or so, we gave in and replaced them for a second time ($180 per hinge ie $360 total) and its an easy job if you're OK with a screw driver, there's some You Tube videos showing the trick to remove the door so the hinges can be replaced.
The other issue you have to look forward to with this oven is when the main element fails, for an appliance repairer to replace the element is about a $700 job, you have to dismantle the rear of the oven to get at the element so there's a lot of labour and all the insulation has to be removed which basically disintegrates in the process. The Bosch genuine element is north of $300 but I just got one from an appliance spares shop for $70 .
Thanks for the info Scott. I will post my progress with Bosch.
Which setting do you use to get the rotisserie turning? On our HSB745256A there doesn't appear to be rotisserie function setting.
I'm sorry but I don't actually know. I have never used the rotisserie in my oven. Give Bosch a call?
likewise with all of the above and on various other forums, there appears to be an issue with the failure of the oven door of the HSB745256a/02 Bosch range to close properly, has anyone been successful with repairs to the springs? Ours has never worked properly and it seems it's something Bosch are acutely aware of.

Hi My response after the treatment from Bosch is to throw the stove out and never buy Bosch again. 7 years and three major repairs later of which two were hinges tells me to go elsewhere. Important to note - no children and in a beach house so only weekend use. I am currently reviewing the new Fisher & Paykel which looks quite good
I have a HSB745256A/02

I have a bosch oven HSB745256A/02 about 4/5 yrs old
the oven door is loose and will not stay closed. i have had an oven tech try to resolve the issue with no luck
I do not want to spend another 2k plus for another stove as all the other aspects operate.
but it takes a long time for the oven to heat with the loose door.
what are my options
Robert
I replaced the hinges and that solved the issue for me.

Mate to pull those hinges out is a mission it took, a friend and my self about 2 1/2 hours . Had to pull the hole thing apart, then you have to use a hammer and bend the clips . Not easy hope this helps, I herd from Bosch to a month ago nothing since. Good luck
the cooker door loss what can I do?
If it's in warrantee, get Bosch to replace the hinges. Otherwise you can purchase them and replace yourself.
Very happy with our HSB745256A which we've had for about 5 years now.
One igniter does not work. How/where do I access the igniters so that i can replace it?

Rob the service fellow had to take the top burner assembly and back panel off, it was costly, regards
We're looking at purchasing the HSB738356A. Has anything changed with the hinge design/ build between the previous model to this one?
Thanks, Peta
Sorry I don't know Peta but if it hasn't don't buy it as still a nightmare for us. We got ours in 2009/10 so ring Bosch and ask them if it has changed design
Shall do, thanks!
To be honest I don't know . They have contacted me about fixing door but it has been fixed before and same problem eventuates. Don't see the point . Now held closed by magnets . Ovens such a pain . Our last Ilvi had the glass completely slide off the door !!! Had to buy a complete new door and hinges . And only after 3 years.
Good luck .
Peta if you find out can you please post back? I'm in the same boat - like the oven but don't want to buy if the hinges are still an issue
hinges gone again - nov 2016.... to make matters worse after sales has the wrong repairs done on my oven so everyone make sure you keep your own paper trail!
I can't locate the serial number on my HSB745256A?
Could it be at the back? I don't want to move the oven out as its very heavy.

Thanks Chris I found it!
Like so many people bought an oven and cooktop for our new kitchen in Kiama in 2001. Disappointed with the oven door as it drops passed the 90 degree when opened. Also does not close properly and hot air escapes. Difficult to cook in it with these problems! As we are pensioners with limited funds a new oven is out of the question. Can you help please?
Maybe we could get a deal on a seconds oven?
Model number HBN4320AU

It appears this MODEL we are discussing HSB745256A Oven is no longer available to purchase. But I would not buy the new model unless they have improved the door not shutting properly problem because it is terrible that all of all have the same hinge/spring problem so it must be design flaw. Has Bosch corrected this design flaw for later model
Dear Bosch,
It appears as though your current freestanding dual-fuel oven (HSB738356A) isn't being stocked by many of the online retailers which makes me wonder, do you have a new model coming out shortly? Surely one that has resolved this issue of the door hinges?
Hi Fish, Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch HSB738356A Freestanding Oven. This oven is a current model in our cooking range. We can appreciate your concern having read a number of reviews regarding this model oven, however we stand by the quality and performance of our products and assure you that we're working towards a solution with the minority of customers who have experienced issues.

Thanks for your reply Bosch. So, can you please confirm, in your latest model (the HSB738356A), has the issue of door continually breaking door hinges been rectified? Was there a redesign of the hinges and/or the receptacles where they attach to?
It'd be great to read specifically what has been done to rectify the issue rather than "Just trust us" which is nice to hear, but more information would make me feel more comfortable in making a purchase.
Thanks
Hi,
My Bosch HSB745256A stove stopped working mid-job the other day. There is now no fan, light or heat, but there is still a working clock/timer and the auto lighters still work. Makes us wonder if it's a fuse, but there is no mention of fuses in any of our paperwork or online. Can you give us a bit of a guide before we have to track down a technician?
Thanks,
Catherine
Hi Catherine, sorry but I can't be of much help. I haven't had these problems. I do know that if it is internal that you need to get a qualified professional to look at it. If it is a fuse it is likely to be somewhere not easily accessible. God luck. I know how frustrating these problems can be.
