I've got a MUM58720, similar model, and had another MUM before that. The first one had an attachment stuck in in after a few years, so I thought I'd upgrade and bought a new version online. Bad decision! The new mixer was flimsy, badly designed, user unfriendly (obviously never tested by anyone who's a baker) and guess what - after two years it… Read more
now has an attachment stuck in it too! Googled it, seems to be a common problem. Works all right, but I can only use it for dough mixing now and all the other attachments are useless.
Can't even take it to repairs as I'm based in a remote community. Bosch? oh, never again, I've learned my lesson.
Waste of money! Do not buy it! Awful experience! – This product is complete garbage. I bought this product for a month and have only used it once, then the machine is starting to have the same issues like many of the other customers. The red light around the power button keep flashing, and the spinner would not start spinning. I am dumb enough to trust an anonymous brand like this and decided to buy its product. FML and never again.
You Still Need Your Other Prep Appliances – The two functions I use this machine for is to blend/whip cake batters and blending. It gets used more than my Kitchenaid for its blending functionality. The Kitchenaid gets used when I whip more than 3 egg white/egg yolks (the whisk beater starts drowning in the batter). The beater doesn't quite go all the way to the bottom of the bowl, as… Read more
with all stand mixer without scraper paddle. This is most obvious in very cold temperature when butter solidifies and sticks to the bottom of the bowl.
As other reviews have noted, the blender tends to leak at high speed or prolonged blending. You can blend at speed 5-7 for no more than around 15-20 seconds without it leaking.
It made (steam) bun doughs beautifully, although the plastic body means at times it would contort rather alarmingly, so I've only done it three times so far. I've considered purchasing MUM86 for its metallic body, but I'm still undecided due to lack of information on the built (How strong is the aluminium body?) and general review.
I've used the food processor attachment to slice onions once, then gave up as the Borner slicer does the job much better for less cleaning.

Total Waste Of Money – I bought this machine without reading any reviews because until now I have been really happy with Bosch products and wanted my new kitchen to have the best electrical equipment. This machine cannot even cream butter and sugar together using the mixing blade or the whisk, there is no flexible silicon blade available that will fit it. The "food… Read more
processor" part is a joke, it is flimsy and because of the poor design blocks up each time it is used so a lot of time is spent unblocking it and putting it back together. The vitamizer part is very flimsy plastic, leaks out the bottom and had trouble making a banana smoothie. I am not game enough to try it for anything else. It does not come apart for cleaning. The mincer is awkward and only comes with one die. My cheap and hand mixer and kitchen wiz do a much better job than this machine. I have not used it to make bread because it has so much trouble coping with mixing cake batter. This machine was not made in Germany. Bosch has certainly dropped its quality standards.
The good thing is I was able to cancel my orders for the Bosch dishwasher and oven and will now do extensive research before buying anything else for my new kitchen. An expensive lesson.

2 Faulty units and average performance – Machine does most things reasonably well, however 2 times out of 10 it will not park the beater at the rear of the bowl as it is supposed to. (Auto park function) When it parks at the front, beater attachment clashes with the bowl, so you cannot raise the arm.... Then need to turn dial to on and off again to get it to park at the back. … Read more
Sometimes it parks in random locations too.....
It is an annoying problem.
I thought it was simply a faulty machine, so after ringing Bosch then spending 1/2 a day mucking around trying to find a non-existent service center, Bosch offered to replace the unit, albeit in their own sweet time.
The sealed replacement unit does exactly the same thing!
I have sent a video replicating the fault to Bosch.
They say they will ring back, but no-one ever returns calls.
Anyone else with the same machine issue?
Also the first one had a piece of black (?) molded into the main body of the processor which cheapened the experience as well.
Whisk and mixer attachments both created a ball of (egg white and cake mix respectively) mix inside them which would not incorporate into the main mix regardless of speed.
I have no use for the blender so can't comment on the leaking.
Food processor however does do a good job.
Dough hook takes a while to incorporate ingredients, but also does a good job.
These are made in Slovenia

Bosch mum5 – Purchased a mum5 in January 15, the mixing component works well, but we are very disappointed in the blender component. We have used the blender 6 times, 4 using hot soup, and 2 cold smoothies. On each occasion the the blender leaks a small amount of liquid out from its bottom seal. It also leaves a small amount of liquid residue on the black… Read more
base where the blender is fitted too. We are fearful of getting liquid into the motor compartment and destroying the machine. We have stopped using the blender:(

A mixer .. yes! A food processor? .. eh – Bought this thinking I would love it .. maybe it would even replace my old braun multquick with the two jugs ... What has happened instead is that the Bosch mum 5 compliments my old Braun rather than replaces it. You see as a mixer and kneader and more novelty uses that you wouldnt really do every day it works a treat and it makes me happy… Read more · 1
.. but as a food processor it feels cheap and nasty with expensive accessories and parts you are mostly forced to import from overseas...
Blender is plastic.. I haven't and wont try it
Its easy to clean.. but you may need to import another bowl if you cook a lot or have complicated recipes
Am I happy I bought it? Actually yes I am happy. ...
I was after a powerful mixer and kneader and thats what I got. Reviews are better then the other brand mixer and I can see why.
I just wish that info about it and its compatibility with other bosch was clearer and that accessories and parts were easier to get in Australia at more reasonable prices .. The primary uses for Bosch Mum 5 as mixer and kneader is really good .. but as a food processor.. its ok with with very expensive cheap looking add ons
I would buy it again for whay it was originally designed for as well as some of its novelty add ons .. like the cube cutter
Love it – I love it, The only remark I have is the fact that my model does not have the mincer. This was the part I bought this for, since the pic of the mincer was on the box I thought it was in included in this model. My model is MUM54630AU and can you please tell me can I buy just the mincer as just a mincer now and if yes where can I find it (I live i WA) Thank you Show reply
Amazing best mixer ever – I have owned my mum 5 since Dec 2013 & use it everyday with no issues what so ever. I use the mixer, the blender & have used the juicer they all work a dream. In it one of the best kitchen appliances I have ever owned. I make bread every day, make smoothies & almond milk using the blender & fresh homemade juice with the juicer. In fact I prefer… Read more · 1
making bread using my Mum5 than the thermomix. I am a mum with 3 small children & this machine make cooking home baked goods so easy there is nothing I do not love about this machine. The service from Bosch is great I lost a part & they got it sent to me from Germany within 2 weeks
Perplexed! – The mixer part of this machine is amazing - makes the best consistency cake dough. The shredder attachment is decent but not the best. I haven't used the citrus or mincer attachments as yet however, Id say my biggest disappointment is the blender attachment. The store I purchased this machine from exchanged my machine for a whole new one because… Read more
they did their tests and found that it leaked a constant ring of liquid around the base too and now the new piece is doing it as well! Makes u feel reluctant to want to use the blender - I have only used the blender thrice for soft food such as tomatoes and just like the last machine - third use = leaks!!! This blender is meant to be able to crush ice and nuts and even chick peas according to the recipe DVD that came along with it but I highly doubt it! I'm quite upset as I spent the extra money and got a kitchen machine thinking - well - it's bosch! And why have different equipment for different tasks when u can have it all in the one machine? But turns out I was wrong - I will probably have to save up for a separate blender and this kitchen machine wasn't the cheapest too.
Anyway to end on a positive, the mixer part is really very good! So if u r able to overlook the blender part - I would definitely recommend the mixer part! Mixer and mixer hooks Blender attachment - poorly constructed, plastic, leaks after third use of brand new blender (tested independently on 4 separate plastic blender attachments by myself n store purchased from), blender blades are fixed - cannot be dismantled - makes it hard to clean - blender doesn't seem to be strong enough to do everything it is meant to as claimed by the DVD recipes as it leaks (note recommended 5-7 speeds used on blender).

That is beautiful mixer. I use it every two days! – We were looking for a mixer for bread dough. We went to different shops over 5 times but we still could not get any useful information about which mixer is good enough for making bread dough. We also tried to look at the reviews on different brands of mixers on websites.Of course, most people recommend kitchenaid, meanwhile we also looked… Read more · 2
around American/uk/euro product review websites,we
found out the Kitchenaid is not powerful enough for making bread dough, then we found a lot people in uk and euro, they think bosch mum5 and bosch mum8 are excellent mixers for bread dough. we could not find any bad comments about bosch mixers so we went to e&s trading go get a bosch mixer(mum 5). We made bread the same day we bought it.God!that is a
very good mixer,it did take a while to mix the bread
dough but it did an excellent job. The bread tastes more beautiful than hand kneading( my husband is baker for 10 years). He can not believe this machine did the better job than him. This is best mixer I have been had. It even can keep running for 1 hr mixing the bread dough without any problem at all. After I bought this mixer 2 weeks,I heard
my friends' kitchenaid died when he made a pizza dough.
I felt happy with my decision this time. This mixer is a good buy,it comes with blender, mincer, juice, disc chopper.
You got everything you need for the kitchen.I truly recommend this mixer, maybe is not best mixer in the world but is good enough for most people. easy clean, good design, not too big and works very well the dough hook can be bigger a little bit
