Awful, do not touch with a 5 foot pole!!! – I am a guy and I like high quality products. I wanted a powerful all round kitchen mixer and went with the BOSCH MUM86A1AU. On top of that, I bought $800 worth of attachments from Germany. The mixer worked on the first day. After about 6 months it was working intermittently already. I rang bosch and was told to bring it to a repair center. The… Read more
board had fried. I got the board change for $180. I barely used it since. I am trying to operated it again and it is working intermittently again.
Altogether, I have spent about $1900 on the mixer, accessories and repairs. In return, I got barely anything.
A previous customer said that we all need refunds on this. I would go even further and call for a class action. This is unacceptable behaviour from such a reputable brand. You buy a mixer at this price while using it once in a while, you would expect it to at least last your lifetime! No, not from bosch apparently.
Dissapointed! I want my money back bosch! – I have been a fan of bosch products for years as i used their washing machine and dryer for 10 years and also their mixer. the mixer i bought in singapore never have a problem. I have my current mixer i bought years ago for $1000!!! , and the products always stop working for a period and sometimes they working again. and today! i want to use it to bake for christmas and it stop WORKING! dissapointed! Bosch should give all of the Bosch mixer buyers a refund! – I purchased the Bosch 86A1 for my daughter as a wedding gift & talked my sister into getting one too after reading the rave reviews of cooks in USA that have other Bosch mixers. Gosh am I sorry. I thought my daughter was happy with it because she never said anything, Apparently she didn't want to seem ungrateful. Today when she was staying with… Read more
me, the truth came out. She said it doesn't mix egg whites properly for pavlovas, nor does it cream butter & sugar well. She said the beater doesn't seem to mix to the bottom or pick up all the ingredients. Sadly I also bought her a mincer to go with her mixer, at a fairly expensive cost. She said the mincer doesn't even mince chicken breasts well!!!!
I have always been happy with other Bosch products but their mixers that have been sold in Australia are duds. Think they should give us all refunds so we can buy another brand of mixer that works & does the job it has been bought to do. Sadly my daughter is using her old Kenwood that is years old & so is my sister.
Come on Bosch stand behind your good quality products & admit this mixer is below par. You aren't even selling them still. Please give us all refunds please so we can continue our faith in the Bosch name.
I just want to say that I have changed my view on Bosch. They have even rung me & have now… Read more
Big machine – I am using MUM86A1 for 2 years now and I can say it is great for me... It has some malfunctions but if you use it for a bigger amount of ingredients it is really saving your time. I'm happy with it and I cant understand people who give such a big money for it and they are not satisfied.. In every way, you can go to change it for something properly… Read more · 1
to yourself. However... MUM rocks!! And all those accessories (sure you must order them separately-money again) ... i love it. :)

Useless Mixer - Never Worked Well and now it's Dead after about 30 mixes – This mixer turned out to be the worst waste of money. We bought in preference to a KitchenAid because of the more powerful motor and planetary action however it never mixed ingredients well. We hardly used it (estimate about 30 times) and now it appears to have seized and won't work at all. A poor effort from Bosch. December 6th 2016 Update: … Read more
Thankfully Bosch have done the right thing and refunded the full purchase price of this mixer.
I would strongly encourage any claims for failed small appliance (within or beyond the warranty period) to be addressed directly with Bosch. They appear willing to do the right thing.

Bosch stole my money – Had the first MUM8 1400W for some years mainly on the counter top but did make some whole grain bread and it worked fine until suddenly it would not turn and made unpleasant noises. Off to Bosch service centre and got the message that control board and drive dead - obvious a known problem as there was to sets of spare parts where one was replaced… Read more
by the original. Repair was quoted 30 Euro less than the now new 1600W MUM86 and as the accessories fitted the new we opted for a brand new machine, now after about the same little use the story repeat. Motor turns on only moving a few cm and then stops. Bosch tech was by the house to fix our 6-year-old tumble drier the other day and looked at the MUM86 while their and judged it to be the control board and/or motor. That is 2 super expensive machines in about maybe 6-7 years almost never used (less than once per month and never full load) with allot of accessories also wasted. Thought this could be a life time machine like an old Bosch my parents have and that still work after over 40 years and I got the semi pro version just to have it last - what a fool I was. Never going back again.

Very happy – I cannot believe the negative comments in this site. This machine makes my bread delicious each time! For 5 years now! The only problem i ve had is the little grey buttons on the bottom of the bowl to fix it are a bit fragile, so need to be carefully handled. By the way 20 minutes for kneading a bread is crazy, dont blame this machine, blame the… Read more · 1
recipe! The bowl is big enough to knead 2small breads at the same time (1kg flour): handy! It is DEFINITELY better than a kitchen aid that almost burns when i make the same amount of dough and has serious question marks when it comes to safety! The kenwood is a bit better in its performance but a bigger machine as well. I am very happy with it. I beat up my whipped cream perfectly, time after time, the fact that it splits says more about the quality of average cook criticising the machine here! I even make perfect macarons with this machine (the meringue is the most critical part of making macarons). And indeed it cannot beat up 2 egg whites Because the bowl is too big. Look if you want to make small quantities; buy a smaller machine! You cannot expect 2 egg whites being beaten up by a huge professional mixer either!?
Hate it! cant depend on.. waste money n waste my ingredient always – Im a kenwood lover. Since im selling cakes i decide yo get a bigger machine.decided to get this bosch. Unfortunately it has always waste my ingredients. Always beat my non dairy cream for only 10mins with kenwood. With this, dont say abt the time consuming. But fact is it break the fats content and u cant beat anymore. My cream become runny.… Read more
Sometimes just need to do simple job just beat cream and cheese also always failed.
I sell more then 10 cakes per week, n coz of this machine i cant speed up more work.
If i could sell this i will obviously.
Too frustrated just throw whole oavket of cream again.. cos when it started to perform soft pak to stiff it will break the fats.!!
Hiw can someone invent this kind of mixer!!!

Very good machine - but some issues – Hi, I have this machine now for close to 3 years, and it works nice, I am very satisfied with the performance, just that the blender base is out of plastic and broke 2 times. I fixed it by gluing and now I'm getting a new base. It's expensive, but looks nice, bowl is just right size, relativly quiet. The other accessories are not that robust, chopping nuts is scary in the multi mix accessory. Show reply
Piece of very expensive junk – 1600watt. For the first 2 times I used it then it would not even whip cream. Contacted Bosch and took it to the repairer they suggested. Told it was OK. They adjusted the angle of the beaters. Still won't cream soft butter and cream or whip cream. Piece of very expensive junk Ann Lee

Awful performance for a top dollar price – I have owned a Kitchen Aid for 15 years and wanted a new mixer. After watching some you tube videos and reading lots of reviews I decided to buy the MUM86. I sincerely wished I had not. We are empty nesters and we don't always need to make large quantities which is where this machine fails epically , I am afraid I dismissed the poor reviews as I… Read more
assumed they may have been made by people that were not competent cooks or bakers, which I am. It is dissapointing that I have to use a cheap handbeater to whip egg whites properly. Even after adjusting the beater with the wrench located on the bottom of the mixer, I still had poor results with cake batters and egg whites. I have had good results with bread and cookie dough though. My drive for the attachments was DOA however I didn't find out until I had had it for over a month as I had no need to use the blender. Lesson learned, test all components immediately. Now I am waiting for Bosch to find a service agent to repair a machine I have had for 5 weeks. I find it unbelievable for the cost of this machine that 5 weeks later it is back in the box. Where is the quality control? What is going on at Bosch? Oh dear, my Kitchen Aid ran for 15 years without a hiccup, it is still going. I gave it to my DIL and can't ask for it back, I could cry. It is obvious to me I will not be able to get a refund as I purchased online in Australia and that company has passed the buck to Bosch really quickly. I have been known as the Pav Queen in my family, the Bosch Will never be up to the task of keeping the title. Looks like it will be sold or used as a boat anchor. I am going back to Kitchen Aid. Please trust that I am a competent cook and baker, who needs appliances that complete tasks perfectly, do not buy this product buy a Kitchen Aid or a Kenwood Chef steer clear of this imperfectly designed and engineered, overpriced monstrosity.

Find out how Bosch MUM86 Professional compares to other Stand Mixers
Know better, choose better.
disappointed – After debating for many months I decided to go with the Bosch. Thinking I was buying top of the range but it's the most useless machine possible. Can not beat cake mixes or cream butter etc. Always end up reverting to my hand mixer. I only wished I saw all this negative reviews prior to my purchase. This is really a waste of money alot of money.

Tried often and failed – Hey all, I haven't tried bread yet but I've tried cakes and pavlovas and whipping cream and let me say was very disappointed in all. It's impossible to cream 250g of butter and 1 cup of sugar without stopping the machine and scraping down the sides and under the beater 4 or 5 times, I don't think the beater sits close enough to the bottom or… Read more
sides of bowl, cream takes forever to whip and you need at least 4 or more egg whites for it to work I noticed when I made a sponge the other day that I couldn't get the eggs and sugar to fluff up and go that lovely creamy color . Out of ten I would give it a 3 because I love the fact that it's so quiet and I love the size of the bowl. Having had a Kenwood and a Sunbeam in the past and been very happy with both I feel I am well qualified to pass comment on this machine. If I could get my money back from Harvey Norman I would definately consider another brand The quietness and the size of the bowl Beating not up to the standard I'm used too.
Already not spinning – Similar to Paul. Mine is already into repair mode, with the motor failing. It has been in for 3 weeks, and I'm told another 2 weeks wait! I have had it for 7 months. Have to admit, it was working beautifully prior to failure. I am very hopeful this will be fixed.
Today I managed to successfully exercise my ACCC consumer rights to obtain a full refund from… Read more (+2 replies)
Warranty and quality of repairs disappointment – My mixer still won't spin. It has now been sent back 2nd time for repairs. Been out of action since December 2013 entering 6th week. Machine underwent repairs in January and returned with the same fault. Bosch claim they need further time to diagnose the problem at my expense and inconvenience. Not willing to offer replacement unit. I wonder… Read more
how long this will go for. I suspect machine has a major fault. Buyer beware this item is not worth the money. No matter what they claim the unit can't operate for its intended design and purpose. Even the baked enamel is poor. Tip it on its underside and you'll see how uneven it is sprayed. Some of the cast is exposed. It looks deceptively good and it ain't worth going through the grief and frustration. These guys don't want to compromise on replacing it as they claim to reserve their right not to. They only offer an apology each time I cop grief. Had sextuplets when it worked it does not operate for its intended purpose
Bosh MUM 86 – So slow you can rather beat cream with a wooden spoon, also, cant mix less than 1 cup or more than 8, a total waste of money :( I spent weeks researching this product and other reviews were excellent but dead wrong. Check out the Youtube videos online to get a feeling for its speed, its impossibly slow!! Get a Kitchenaid or Kenwood It looks pretty Slow, cant handle large amounts, cant handle small amount

brilliiant Mix Master – As the saying goes "Nothing is ever as good as you think it is going to be" and because of this I normally do not write reviews, but as for the Bosch Mum86 Professional , it is more than good, it is absolutly brilliant, even though I have not used all functions yet as I only received it yesterday, so I thought i would put it to the test and I made… Read more · 6
four loafs of bread, i never thought it would be able to knead 1.6 kg of dough, but it did it brilliantly, hardly a sound out of it and it properly could have mixed more, the bread was the best bread i have ever tasted, am now looking forward to making more and also am looking forward to being able to make a double receipe of my cake receipe - something that my old mix master could not do and i know this machine will do it with no problem and also my biscuit receipe. This Bosch Mum86 machine is absolutly brilliant.
