Brand new German made stopped spinning after six months. Two person household so not used much. Warranty service atrocious. Wish I’d never bought it. Still waiting for part and service technician after three weeks. Show details
Using the Bosch Series 8 WAW28620AU for coming up to 5 years now. The hose has been replaced 3 times under warranty due to the internal valve getting stuck. Our laundry cold water tap is off unless in use. No water flows when the valve is stuck and therefore renders the unit unusable. The repair team suggested next time it happens go to Bunnings… Read more
to get a plain hose to get the machine working as washing can build up quite quickly.
The Bosch model was Choice recommended and we purchased the stacker drawer and Bosch dryer at the same time. It was a considerable investment at the time and was happy to pay for efficiency, saving money on water and electricity, etc. Prior to this model we had a large top loader.
The Bosch, 9kg capacity, I feel struggles with a family of 5 - perhaps suitable for a smaller size family? And bedding (sheets, doona cover) is an all weekend event. I use my local laundry mat for the 3 x single bed doonas and blankets and 1 x King doona as they just don't fit individually in the 9kg drum.
If you are considering a 9kg drum I would (if afforable) look at spending more to get a much larger drum capacity, 12kg, so it covers you and the family over the many, many years that it should last.
It does have quiet operation on the spin cycle and the seal around the door is in very good condition. Accessing the drain and propellor area is very easy to get to and clean.
The rest drawer in the stacker has some how had water seep into the internal timber and thus has swollen. Not a major issue as the resting drawer still functions to slide in and out.
Great washing machine BUT the self dosing drawer (iDos) system is flawed. The sensors inside the drawer and the connections are affected by the moisture present. Had the drawer replaced twice and cost hundreds of dollars. I have since had it removed and bought another Bosch with a manual detergent drawer. Show details

Great Quality but missing functionality you’d expect at this price point – This is my 1st front loader - up until now we’ve always had long lasting & easy to use top loaders. Based on reviews we purchased the German manufactured model as well as the dryer. While I’m happy with the machine, here are the things I feel it’s lacking: * An easy to use straight spin cycle - it can be done but it’s not just a 1 touch function &… Read more
is not included in the manual. Thank you Google for the answer on that 1. Who knows what the machine may be capable of that you’d just never know. * There is no soaking function which I find incredibly frustrating. The manual says to start a cycle, leave for about 10 mins & then pause. This does not soak! * Washing does come out stiffer on all cycles. I do not use fabric softener & haven’t for years - I don’t believe you should need to. My washing was always fine in my 15 year old top loader. * The various functions are not clear or explained in the manual (the manual really isn’t great). There should be a table that details what each function is recommended for. The only obvious 1 is quilts! * We’ve had our machine for over 3 months & it still has a strong smell of rubber.
It’s still a quality product, looks good, solid, works well but I have to say I was hoping to be a little more wowed with a new machine in comparison to my 15 year old top loader.
Was great until it didn't work! – I initially loved the machine after doing lots of research and choosing it. I'd always had Bosch's and made sure I chose the German made one not the one made in Turkey. It has kept up with 6 loads a week for my family of 4 and I loved how economical it was on water usage. After 4 years it stopped working, froze on 1 minute left, and I've had a… Read more
repair man come in and tell me I need to spend $800-$900 on a new internal computer and inverter. He said that even good brands are not made to last anymore and I think this is ridiculous especially after how much it cost me initially. Edited to add that Bosch have replaced the faulty part even out of warranty and I paid call out and service fee so is fixed for $300. Happy with the customer service from Bosch.

False Advertising - not a 9kg machine. Shame on Bosch – This machine is advertised as 9kg capacity but this is not true at all. Most programs are either 2/3kg capacity or 5/6kg capacity. Only one 3.5 hr program claims to be 9kg but that's a very long time!! If you squeeze in any more the clothes come out smelling bad as the machine is overloaded. This is terrible value for such a small machine and very… Read more
confused as to why Bosch is claiming this to be 9kg when it is in fact 5-6kg. I suppose they have to do it because the other companies market that way? Our fault for buying it online as in person we would have noticed the small drum. It's very difficult to gauge the size of the drum online so have a look at the manual or in store before purchasing. I would not recommend this product as you will have to do washing many times per week given the tiny capacity. 6 years on and its still working ok so I guess it has some longevity but will have to sell at a big loss to buy a bigger machine that can actually handle 9kg. Who has time to wait 3.5 hours for a wash.

Had this machine for just over 5 years now. The I dos stopped working so I called a service person to inspect/repair. Cleaned regularly but never thought that this machine would have an issue with the connecting plugs. Findings the the cable… Read more
connector to the I dos was corroded and the I dos dispenser was also affected so they both need to be replaced to have the machine work as designed. Cost of Parts approx. $600. Contacted Bosch for availability of the main part (Cable connector) unavailable. This made me think they knew about the issue but said nothing. Spoke to Bosch customer service about the issue, they must of known of this issue as stated they the cable connector is out of stock and can not give a time line for availability. No recall or attempt to contact buyers or to warn of the potential issue. Sent an Email with my frustration all I received was you can turn the I dos off and manually dose the machine. Nothing else. You would this with the knowledge of this issue they would offer some type of compensation. Now waiting for the cable to become available then need to call the service person to come back and install the parts which is another callout fee.
Follow-up · Well as of today 8/12/2025 Still waiting on parts for the machine, still unable to get a time estimate on arrival. It’s a frustrating process as can’t even get good used parts.

Terrible Machine – In all, I've probably used this machine less than 60 washes in the time I've owned it (less than 2 years). It simply does not clean your clothes adequately, turning your whites brown, fading your blacks, and leaving a mildew smell on everything which is ridiculously hard to get out. I recently had the technician out from Bosch to investigate our… Read more
issues with the machine. Upon inspection, he advised I was using the IDOS incorrectly (to this point he was correct) although I had only started using the IDOS within the last week, previous to this I had been inserting a TINY amount of liquid detergent in the dispenser drawer and still my clothes would still come out with detergent build-up and moldy smell after washing. According to him, my using the IDOS incorrectly was the issue and dismissed my protests that the machine had been playing up before I had even started using the IDOS option. I had previously attempted to tackle this issue myself with different detergents of varying intensities, laundry sanitiser, bleach, and soaking/stripping, and washing machine cleaners, to no avail. This seemed to be of no consideration to the technician who had obviously settled on the fact I was the issue for the machine working incorrectly. For the past 6 months, I have been using the washing machines at our local laundromat, which do a far superior job of cleaning our linen-wears.
I have since applied the technician's suggestions. Several drum cleans later using the BOSCH machine cleaner, soaking our clothes in a sanitising solution and 6 hot washes later with NO detergent, we still have detergent build up on our sheets. HOW is this possible?
I will be persuing a return of this item as it's still under warranty, and quite frankly, BOSCH should be reimbursing me for the number of good quality pieces of clothing I've had to throw away since purchasing this machine. Totally disappointed and I do not recommend purchasing this washing machine!

Soo quiet and idos is fabulous – This machine replaced a product made in Thailand- my third faulty replacement in 18 months. So we decided to go for German made with the store credit given to us by the previous manufacturer. Even they had given up on their product! So far I have only high praise for this Bosch. 1. It has worked properly from day 1 ( unlike the previous brand). … Read more
2. It is so quiet, it is almost weird. Even when spinning, it can not be heard outside the laundry and does not disturb anyone sleeping. It has a quieter night wash cycle but we don’t need it. 3. Despite being a 9 kilo washer, it determines the water used according to the weight of the washing so no wastage on even a very small wash. 4. It can do 15 minute and 30 minute washes with good temperature and spin cycle choices. It also has an automatic cycle that determines everything with a 40 degree wash. Great for teenage and adult children to use! A new experience compared to the previous brand. 5. Idos, automatic dosing of detergent and softener. This is great and easy for everyone to use. The machine is preset to a low dose of detergent so if yr clothes not smelling or feeling fresh enough, increase the automatic dose level as harder water requires more detergent. I think this may be the issue for many people who complain about smell. It is important not to use thick liquids so no clogging occurs. The dispenser drawer is pristine clean and dry. 6. Bright and easy to use display control. The booklet gives clear figures for power and water consumption on the main cycles and the washer gives an indication of both with every choice made for cycle, temperature and spin. The quality of this machine is just so obvious compared to many other brands. I can’t vouch for long term reliability but at present am thrilled with the huge improvement it is compared to all the previous cheaper brands I have used. If you can’t afford this one, buy one without the idos, everything else will be much the same as mine.
A solid machine but does require maintenance to go the distance – After 4.5 years of use I feel I can give an objective review on the 9kg WAW28620AU. We do about 2 loads a day so that's over 2500 loads of washing! This machine can take a beating but it does need to be looked after. Every 6 months or so I'll get an E18 error and this means something is caught in the drain piping somewhere. A coin, sticks, or some… Read more
other obstruction. Sometimes the drain screw isn't removable - which means i need to take the entire front panel off to access the drain piping (see youtube videos). It isn't difficult to do but I imagine many users would need a service call and that gets expensive if you have the error a few times a year. Recently my drain pump motor completely failed (constant E18 errors) so I replaced the drain motor myself for $100. I've become an expert on removing the front panel and accessing that drain motor over the years! Also my IDOS hasn't worked properly for the last year or so. I just dose manually in to the draw and it's fine. IDOS is a gimmick anyway and not needed. Apart from that it is a very solid unit considering how many loads we do. It's almost a perfect machine for durability, but you need to be handy otherwise you'll be calling a technician to fix drainage issues.

We purchased this washing machine just under three years ago for a two‑person household, and I’m extremely disappointed with the reliability of the I‑Dos system. Despite following all maintenance instructions and only ever using liquid detergent (never fabric softener), the automatic dispenser has completely stopped working. To make matters worse,… Read more
the replacement cost for the I‑Dos unit is over $500. For a machine marketed as premium German engineering, this is unacceptable. After reading other reviews, it seems this is not an isolated issue, which makes the situation even more frustrating. I regret not spending a little extra and sticking with Asko — my previous machine lasted over 16 years without a single problem. This experience has shaken my confidence in a so called" top tier brand.

Poor quality – Pretty ordinary that a product that’s supposed to be high end from Bosch starts failing after 2.5yrs. I noticed a noise that sounded like a spring every once in a while, that noise has become more often over the last 9mths. 8-10yrs old I’d be disappointed but understand it’s getting a bit older. But to start failing 2yrs in (straight after the warranty ends) is a joke.
I bought a Bosch oven at the same time when we renovated and had nothing but trouble with that as well. I also bought the matching series 8 dryer that arrived with a crack in the water reservoir. That could’ve been the delivery truck guys, either way we have bought 3 Bosch products and had problems with each one.
Won’t be buying a Bosch product again and telling anyone I know the same.

Quality is so poor I have had to stop using after 3 months!!! – Loved it at first, appeared to be doing as it should. However in less than three months the seal was damaged and I can no longer use it. considered fair wear and tear or user error. Given I've only washed clothes and linen, as per their instructions and for less than three months, I did seek advice as to how it was possible for to it to be damaged, and they advised it's usually damaged via buttons or zips. So for me, there is no point buying this machine as it can't handle washing basic clothing.
Fades clothes and very rough on clothes – We had a top loader for 15 years and our clothes stayed in perfect condition. First Front Loader to Use But? – After using the machine for 6 mths I have questioned weather its the type of machine/auto wash or the way its washing. So please to get this washing machine – This washing machine scared me at first having to read the information about how to use it but it was that easy just so simple didn't even have to read the book. Awesome machine Show details
Awesome while it’s still under warranty – Purchased in 2019. Smooth running until now. 2years warranty convenient only for Bosch. IDos indicator lights flash even when detergent and softener is full. IDos is not dispensing detergent. Washing machine seems to work, spin and drains, but ends with an error code of E00. Then sometimes will flash -81 after that error code. drawer, E00 will flash. Bosch did not have any record of the error codes flashing and only solution was to send someone out at my expense. Deeply disappointed and regretting my purchase. Maybe should have chosen the option without the IDos. Previously owned a Bosch washing machine that lasted me 10years only having to change the brushes.
Disappointing machine. Worse customer service – Happy with how effectively and efficiently the machine operated until it started displaying the E18 error message during a wash. Would happen approximately every 4 washes. Very frustrating because it requires manual draining each time it occurs. there was "some hair" blocking the filter. And that I should clean the filter out after every 2nd or 3rd wash. Absolutely ridiculous. Funnily enough just out of warranty too.
Outstanding upgrade! – At first I was using my ordinary Laundry Detergent, but this machine requires 'He' detergent (High Efficiency) because it has an automatic detergent and softener dispenser - and uses very little water. The machine assumes its compartments are loaded with 'He' detergent and makes its calculations about how much to consume accordingly. I didn't… Read more
realise that fact, so I was getting pretty annoyed that my clothes were not completely coming out clean - and I found I was having to use a pre-wash, for every wash.
I finally READ THE INTRUCTIONS, discovered my faux pa and immediately switched to 'He' (Dynamo Professional to be exact...look for the little 'He' symbol on the back of the bottle).
Wow, what an astonishing difference it made! My clothes are WAY clean, like unbelievably clean! My decision to get rid of my Miele and replace it with the Top of the Line Bosch Series 8 was by far the best decision I made. I HIGHLY recommend this washing machine (and the matching Dryer). I cannot wait to try out the option to add the waterproofing additive to the 'outerwear washing cycle' (yes, I discovered that little nugget in the instruction manual too!).
All up, a great machine (the beeps at the end of a cycle are annoying but you can turn them off BY READING THE INSTRUCTIONS!)

I like it that you can change the settings very easily and that it shows you how much water and electricity you will be using. The only down side is the cycles can be a bit long but I am retired so it doesn't matter to me. Also it is made in Germany. In all I am so happy with my new washing machine Bosch make great products.
Extremely reliable and adjustable – This machine can do delicates as well as heavy loads easily. The load and detergent and level of softener is very adjustable. The settings on the automatic are great if you don't want to think too hard either. The seal is very sensitive to heavy zippers on jackets that can rip it. I would definitely still put delicates in a bra bag however. Show details

worn out and ruined so many clothes. The first service call I had, the so-called Bosch technician blamed everything known to man except the machine, Clean your DOS dispenser, too much detergent, apparently I was the culprit !! I stopped using the DOS altogether. did everything they recommended ... Still no change. They sent another independant tech who was much better. They replaced a part .. callcenter and the lady on the line was rudely giving me advice on a dishwasher not washing machine and then told me theyd send a replacement part which would take 2 weeks! The machine is very quiet and the Idos system is awesome - saves some much time and it has very large tanks for detergent and softener so you don't have to keep topping it up all the time. It also takes a very large load and the control panel is very easy to use and flexible. I particularly like that you can change the hours up and down on delayed start - my old machine only went in one direction so if you had to adjust the hours back you had to go through the whole cycle again.
