Over 10 years old and still going strong!! – I have replaced the rubber seal and the carbon brushes. She squeaks a little from time to time, but smells clean and I run a full lime scale wash every 3-4 months. Always used cold water apart from lime scale wash. So apart from the basic maintenance, she has been an awesome washing machine. Show details

Another spider arm failure – We received this model from Bosch after our original front loaders spider arm fully disintegrated (approx 4 years old). Bosch provided a shop damaged replacement in the form of a Series 4. Kudos to them for that, not many companies would go that far. 4 years on and I'm guessing by the sound it made the other day it has thrown one of the spider arm… Read more

mounts. Currently running machine without any spin cycle whilst we deliberate on what brand to buy next. Surely someone can make a spider arm that last longer than 4 years. Only use liquid detergent and only 2 in the household, maybe 6 small loads a week!!

Updated 30-10-23 Stripped the machine and here is the spider arm!! Surprised it still was revolving tbh. We've moved on and purchased a Beko 7.5kg front loader with 5 year warranty and 10 year motor warranty. Time will tell how good it is but with at least 5 years warranty i shouldn't have another expensive fire pit before then right??

Bosch makes fantastic washing machines!!! – We bought a Bosch WAE24460AU in Jan 2011, last weekend while in spin cycle it tripped the circuit breaker and then stopped spinning. I learned that ‘worn motor brushes’ could be a course. I took a look and sure enough they were worn down to less than 1cm. I replaced them at the cost of AU$78 and the machine is working like a charm again. We are… Read more ·  1

Great machine – This machine was a replacement for a brand newSamsung WF1752WPW 7.5kg Front Load Washer that was faulty. great. I really like the fact that on some of the programmes you can alter the temperature and spin speed to your choice. The 1200rpm spin is rather noisy and when the machine has finished the beeper that sounds can get a bit annoying as it keeps doing this for quite a while. However, these are small niggles for an excellent value machine. Excellent wash and great variety of programmes. Spin is a little noisy and wash completed alarm can be irritating.

Not even 4 years – I liked this machine when it worked. The last few months its depositing greasy sludge on my clothes. After cleaning it myself, etc, its still happening. Just had one of their representatives out and he confirmed the seal was clean but said he did not know what the issue was and he agreed that the amount of sludge on my clothes did not collerate… Read more

with the tiny bit of sludge he had to force of the seal. Its interesting that the technician questioned the use of fabric softener and temerature of water used. Although I do not use fabric softener and generally use the machine at 30 celsius to 90 celsius, I am not sure why the machines have a fabric softener or cold option as it sounds as they would use these tools to blame the consumer. If anyone has had similar issues, please comment. Its only just gone 4 years old.

Less than a year old and door has broken Twice - Model WAE22466AU – So so so disappointed. Had this machine since March 2016. Within a number of weeks / months the door had stripped the screws and fell off. Took near 6 weeks or more to repair / get spare part and fit. Probably wouldn't buy again – We went with Bosch due to their good reputation. But as mentioned before, the constant beeping is an absolutely ridiculous design feature - and I don't want to turn it down as I want to know when my washing is done, but I don't need it to beep at me constantly. I find most of the cycles don't leave the washing smelling particularly fresh or clean… Read more

either. Also, our machine is only 3 years old - 2 people in our household so we only wash 2-3 loads per week on average - and the power unit and operating module are dead. So that's $700 to fix that. Unfortunately due to having already paid the $200 call out/diagnosis fee, buying a whole new machine would essentially now cost us $900, so we will repair it. But such a major fault after only 3 years really makes me wonder if I should just bite the bullet and get a different brand because who knows what else will go wrong and how much further out of pocket I'll be. I probably wouldn't purchase another Bosch again.

any problem with removing items stuck into the pump even if sometime paper or toy got thrown into washing machine by mistake. When items were stuck in these washing, it was extremely easy to clear these, follow the detail instruction in the manual. Not so with Bosch, the access to the pump was so small you can not removed anything without dissembling the machine and there is minimal instruction to solve the problem in the instruction manual. The cost just to removed this piece of plastic is over hundred dollar as Bosch think this is the user problem and not the bad design of the machine. And the aftersales services are atrocious, in no other company I deal with has a part time customer support to deal with customer issue. After this experience, I will never buy any product from Bosch product again and make sure no one I know about the bad quality of their product

Design of this washing machine worse than a cheap Korean one, bad aftersales service, the customer support

Motor failed – I bought two front loader Bosh washing machines (maxx classics) about 3 years ago. One for work that gets used once a week ( for the hand towels) the other at home. One at home went OK apart from a broken door but they fixed that after some pointed comments that we must have abused it ( we didn't). Now it stopped spinning or agitating. I had a quick look at it is clear motor is stuffed. Up to work and got my spare motor now all fixed. I should claim warranty but just can't bear the thought of arguing the point.

I removed the brushes and they are both worn right out. One to the hard pin which has scored the commutator badly.

I always used Fischer and Paykel top loaders in the past and got 15+ years of trouble free use. I replaced work one with a used F & P and think I will do the same at home when the Bosch dies next.

In this day and age we should be getting 10 years from a machine. If f & P can use brushless smart drives with no belts for last 20 years why can't the Europeans catch up. I' m really one cheesed off consumer. Water efficiency Clothes not that soft unless you add softener etc. not very reliable. A decent wash takes long time.

Design or manufacturing flaw – It is extremely noisy on spin and takes an age to complete a wash. The door to drum rubber seal fills up with gunk and doesn't drain adequately so there is a build up which is hard to clean out. the 'spider' which supports the inner drum on the 'axle' has broken and the drum flops around. Cactus. Dead. Our repair man (authorised Bosch repairs) tells us it will cost $500-700 to fix plus another $200 for the heating element that is almost certainly damaged by the drum bashing it as it flopped around.

Bosch are apparently aware of the problem of the 'spider' breaking prematurely (why should it ever break at all - ridiculous!) on these machines but will not accept the blame for this design flaw. We also have a Bosch dishwasher which is fine except for ultra-sensitivity to water pressure which causes endless error messages and puts its little computer brain into melt-down. I will not buy a Bosch product again. We will now replace the washer with a Miele which is what I should have bought in the first place. Bosch marketing is based on them saying what wonderful and superior products they produce and if they keep saying that long enough people (suckers like me) will start to believe the rhetoric and consider them a viable alternative - incidentally this is how politicians get elected. Nothing much. It worked for 5 years before it broke Flawed design and or manufacture of a major internal part. It broke.

My last Bosch washer had a better Easy Iron setting, this washer clothes crease a little more but definitely no where near as bad as a top loader or cheaper front loader. The best function is the delay start. relatively short cycle times in terms of a front loader. It's very quiet and stable, and lots of choices in washing cycles, temperatures and spin speeds. I'm not sure I can tell much difference between some of the choices, and not much explanation in terms of instructions. However, the controls are fairly self explanatory and the result is always of a high standard. Economical in use of detergent, water and energy. A great feature is the washing time readout, showing time required for cycle chosen and remaining time during the cycle. The delay start is also useful, enabling an early load to be set up the night before. A small pool of water collects at the bottom of the door seal and requires wiping each time to prevent mold. A pity there's no choice in right or left opening door, although the door does open 180 degrees.

and the available selection of washing cycles.

Price wise - shop around - you may get it cheaper than what is stated on this website. I did.

The only downside to the design of this machine is that a small amount of water pools in the door seal. This just needs to be soaked up and the door left ajar for any moisture to evaporate after completing a wash.

A very happy Bosch customer.
