Braemar Paradigm LCQ 550 (14.1kW) Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: LCQ550I just fitted the lcq550 evaporative aircon jist want to know can i goto sleep and put a timer on for it to go off by itself
Hi Manny, this may depend on what controller you have for your air conditioner. Do you have a MagIQtouch touch screen controller?
We replaced our old unit last year 28/12/22. Because it happened over Xmas and no one else was trading it cost us over $6k and now paying off over the next few years! It worked for little while but then keeps going off and then coming back on roughly in about 45 mins to an hr! not ideal in Perth's heatwave conditions. Also turns off when the fan gets adjusted or the temperature gets adjusted. I have the MagIQ controller. It stays on when the unit turns off. We have had 2 different service techs out. The second tech moved the Rx unit lower into the ceiling because thought it gets too hot and overheats. Didn't work. Then replaced the RX and TX units with a wired unit which cost us $600 and still didn't work. Next Seeley advised them to come back and test the motor. WTH for? I have asked for the wireless controller unit to be put back in as this didn't work and refunded the cost the the wired remote. No word yet. I have asked for a replacement unit because this is obviously so faulty it needs a new unit. What else can get replaced? water pump, solenoid, capacitor, link module or sensor water probe? These might get affected when the outside temperature gets too hot and the system shuts down? Where to from here? Do you think I can get a new unit?
This probably won't help Darrell but I live in Perth too and I have Braemar Paradigm units fitted to 5 of my houses and also my neighbour's with little trouble. The last unit in my main residence has the MagiQ controller and I have had more trouble with this unit than all others combined. The controller is unnecessarily complex and not user friendly. The instruction book is next to useless. I run it in 'speed' mode rather than 'temp' as I can control the speed of the unit rather than have it blasting away achieving nothing.
Hi Darrell, since your unit is still under warranty, you will need to persist with Seeley's and the installers testing and diagnosis. Once they have determined the issue they will able to fix the problem. I can understand this is frustrating but I can assure you, the team will do their best to help you.
How to access unit
Hi Paul the unit can be accessed on the roof. If you need repairs or servicing, we recommend getting in touch with a licensed air conditioning repairer/installer. We also have Seeley Service agents in South Australia and Victoria if you live in either of those states. Visit external link to find a service agent or book in a service.
Why it doesn’t work properly?
Hello Leonie. If you have a problem with the unit, our service department can be contacted on 1300 650 644. Thank you ~ Craig
Hello Craig - thank you Craig. I did ring the number, but have not been able to resolve the problem. There is plenty of water in the unit etc, but still blowing hot air. As I said - a conundrum.
Thanks Leonie. We have sent you a request can you please follow up on that. Thank you.
I am sorry - I don't understand - where is the request? Thank you.
I have found with any brand of evaporative cooler that if it is not getting water to all of the pads evenly, it will not cool properly ie : it will have dry sections of pads and the air will go through that instead of the watered pads. The air flowing into the pads will take the least path of resistance which is the same as electricity. Check to see if any of the pads have a dry section. This can happen from brand new as I did find that the installer did not "level" the unit up and it was slightly down to one corner which means the opposite corner on the "slightly" higher side, was dry. Hope that helps. RegardSS .................. Barry Cootamundra NSW
I have just recently installed a Braemar Paradigm LCQ 550 (14.1kW) if my cooler fan is on number 3, how much power (watts, amps, kwh) does is consume? How much more does it consume compared to a standard 3 speed ceiling fan? Please give me an idea so I know what to switch on appropriately.
My LCQ 550 constantly stops and starts when you set the temp to a certain temp. When the air con gets the temp down to the required it constantly starts, runs for a minute or two then stops then say 5 min later it starts again. The lowest fan speed doesn't appear to be much different from the highest and creates a lot of wind noise. If the air con was whisper quiet it wouldn't matter so much but especially at night it is noisy. It cools really well but our old Celair was much quieter and the thermostat was not nearly as sensitive. It would stop when the required temp was reached but wouldn't kick back in for 30 mins or more. Have I set it up incorrectly?
Hello Noel If you need assistance with the unit You can contact 1300 650 644 to organise a service agent in your area. Alternately you can go through our website to find a service agent external link Thank you ~ Craig
Is it reasonable for 7outlet of single home to install Braemar LCQ 550 (14.1W) ?
Dose LCQ 550 using a lots of power or not , compare with LCQ 450 ?
I think 450 is enough . I have 450, 6 outlet and doing very good job. It's not using much power but i have notice our water usage increase
Thanks to feed back your opinion...Really helpful Viv
I own the largest one, but have 9 outlets. My view has always been to buy the highest capacity of air conditioner, simply because you specifically don't get air conditioning to combat temperatures below 30oC, you get it so that when the temperature soars you can sit or move around in comfort. No point in sitting sweltering to save a couple of hundred up front and save on electricity and water costs if for a several weeks you are terribly, terribly uncomfortable and can't sleep due to being too hot.
However, when the temperature drops to a comfortable level the cooler doesn't use significantly more because it's bigger, the thermostat regulates the fan and pump speed and thus the amount of power used. I guess at peak times some users may need to watch the power consumption, but I have no knowledge how they are going to do that.
Thanks for your opinion...really helpful..viv
L C Q 550 is it compatible with my Breezair L X H 210 with 8 outlets
does this air cond have a timer or remote control?
If you mean can it be controlled, then yes it can similar to any other whole house type system. There's a small wall mounted control unit which usually sits in the middle of the house. It has an in-built thermostat and can be set manually every time you turn it on, or you can preset it to a minimum temperature for when you want the cooler to cut in, say 25oC, or thereabouts and then leave it in Auto mode, which means that you need never touch it again, except to switch it off when you start lighting fires and on again when it starts warming up at the start of the next season. There are also exhaust modes, so you are able to change the air without switching on the air conditioning. We only ever switch this mode on if we burn something on the stove or in the toaster, to clear the smoke so it doesn't trigger the alarm system and firemen in big boots don't need to come clumping in.
