My breville custom loaf is turning itself off in stage 3 rise when I making a gluten free loaf is this meant to happen?
I have a Breville BB400. The fruit or nut dispenser door will not open
dont know. may be a mechanical fault or can be fixed with foodsafe lubricant.
My collapsible paddle completely collapses during the first knead. I've stopped the machine and uprighted the paddle, but it still collapses within a few minutes. It won't knead correctly. Should I use a non-collapsible paddle?
I have just bought the Breville Bakers Dozen and want to know at what time I can remove the paddle please. On 450gram Traditional white loaf and 680gram Traditional white loaf
My Breville BM800 stopped pre heating after 1 year. It was replaced under warranty and a year later it's stopped pre heating. Is this an inherent problem with the machine.
I was given the breadmaker. Absolutely love it! Tonight I put all the ingredients in, but nothing is working! Last used it Friday. Sunday night here in Australia. Am extremely disappointed. I was given it early June 2023. Am not able to hold the button down, well I can hold it down, but nothing happens! Can anyone assist? Thank you!
Breville custom loaf, hold button down?
Thank you. Tried that. There is no around ring around the start button. Will have another look tonight.
I love making fruit loaf for the family so use the 1.25kg ingredients and select large loaf, but when I select Sweet options it reverts back to small loaf settings. How can I adjust to the correct size?
I took out the collapsible paddle before the 2nd rise will this affect my bread results?
i have never done that myself but can understand why you would do it. apols i can’t offer anything more than that
Take the paddle out after the last punch down/knead. I only ever use the whole wheat cycle, which has 3 kneading/punch down cycles, the last one occurring when there is 1 hour and 38 minutes remaining. After the bread has finished cooking if you leave it in for 20 minutes of post warming the bread will tip out without the paddle shaft tearing any of the bread.
Paddle is a problem, spindle has seized. I take bread out before baking. A fixed paddle for bread would be much preferable.
heating in olive oil is all I can suggest. May require elbow grease to get it moving or leverage.
Hi, I've had the same Issue! Solid as a rock and I ordered a replacement. BUT! The seised one I was able to repair it with the help of this vid and a hex bit. external link
I am thinking about purchasing this bread maker but have some hesitation when reading about all the issues. I have a few questions. I would primarily use the machine to make dough. Can I just use the fixed paddle for this so I don't have to worry about cleaning the collapsible paddle? Also, is it possible to create a custom dough setting with a second rise or (for the same affect) to modify the whole wheat cycle by setting a bake time of 0? Thanks for your help!
The bread basket gets stuck, it's very hard to wiggle it out of the machine. I'm hesitant to use anything like WD40 in there, but it really needs a bit of help.
I haven’t experienced this issue at all, so can’t help you with a solution. I certainly wouldn’t use WD40 though :-)
My bread loaves have stopped rising all of a sudden. Same recipes for 5 years, never had a problem. It seems that the temperature control during the “rise” phases is no longer working and goes completely cold instead of 32 degrees mentioned in the manual. Is it possible and/or worth repairing the machine and where? I live in Adelaide
I’ve been using my BBM800 for several months now with (mostly) pleasing results. I’ve noticed that towards the end of the 2nd knead cycle the motor makes a grinding noise and there are a few beeps that sound like an error alarm. The machine goes on to make a good loaf. This has been happening since the first time I used the machine. I watched it today to see if there was anything displayed on the screen during the 2 or 3 seconds of distress. There wasn’t. There isn’t anything unusual with the dough I use - it’s a standard white mix and seems to be the right consistency. Has anyone else experienced this grinding/beeping? If Breville is monitoring these messages, can you provide any insight into the issue?
This is normal. There is an electromagnet that opens the fruit & nut dispenser near the end of the 2nd kneading cycle. This electromagnet emits the buzzing sound you are describing. The beeps are there to get your attention in case you need to add any other mix-ins that did not fit or could not be placed into the dispenser.
Thanks for your reply, which makes perfect sense. The noises are quite ‘severe’, but good to know it’s normal.
I’m having lots of trouble getting the bread out of the tin. The paddle sticks in the bread.
I haven’t had any issue with getting bread out even when I used to leave the paddle in place - I just flip the pan over and give it a couple of firm shakes and the loaf slides out. The paddle is likely to tear out a decent hole in the bottom of the loaf, which is why I set a timer to remove the paddle before the final rise. Since doing that, I’ve been getting very good loaves with just a small indentation from the shaft. Sorry I haven’t specifically addressed your issue, but I hope my response helps!
Thank you for your answer. I’ve only used my machine twice and both times I’ve really struggled to get the bread out. I’m wondering if I should put some olive oil spray on it. I’ll also try taking the paddle out.
I’ve read somewhere that spraying the pan can cause issues with the non-stick coating - so I’d avoid that if possible. Are you using the fixed or folding paddle? When you manage to get your loaves out, do they have a smooth crust on the sides? Are you using a bread mix from the supermarket or individual ingredients? I use Laucke mix with the folding paddle (but as mentioned, I remove this before the final rise). My loaves have a smooth crust which comes out of the pan cleanly. The only resistance to sliding out is where the bread bakes onto the shaft
Thanks Simon, I’m using the folding paddle. The crust looks great. I’m using Laucke mix. The bread tastes great it’s just getting it out that’s the problem. I wouldn’t spray the pan, just wondered about a few drops of oil in the paddle. If all else fails I’ll have to remove the paddle, a bit nervous about that but I guess so long as I get the timing right it should be ok.
Give removing the paddle a go! There are charts in the back of the manual that tell you exactly how long each process takes for every standard bread mix. I just set the timer on my phone for a few minutes short of the final rise. After the punch down, put the machine on pause, reach under the ball of dough and pop the paddle off. I usually remove the paddle and rinse it off (it’s a bit messy) but I have tried just leaving it flat on the bottom of the pan which is less messy (and pops off the bottom of the finished loaf very easily). Good luck with it!
Thanks, I’ll give it a try. Unfortunately it means being home when the bread is cooking but I’ll just have to work around that.
my collapsable paddle is now so stiff (after only baking about a dozen loaves) that it is just like the fixed one. How do I get it back to being collapsible? I have tried soaking it in water, detergent, spraying it with oil.
When the paddle gets stiff I just work it back and forth by hand and it usually loosens up. I’ve once had to resort to using dental floss to clear the gap between the fixed and moving parts. If that doesn’t work, you can take the paddle apart to clean the shaft properly. There is a grub screw on the side of the paddle. You need to use a 1.5mm Allen key to undo the grub screw. Once the paddle is off the shaft you should be able to clean it thoroughly. I don’t recommend oiling the parts as this will taint the bread and/or cook onto the shaft (making it stick again). When putting the paddle back on the shaft, don’t over tighten the grub screw or it will clamp onto the shaft making it stiff again.
The “collapsible paddle” is disappointing on my machine. I tend to just remove it before the final rise to avoid the large tear out in the bottom of the loaf.
I hope Breville are taking notice of this customer feedback.
Breville paddle collapsed and I can’t get it at right angle again?
Yeah they aren’t very good and don’t last long at all. Wish I knew before I brought it. They won’t cover them under warranty as it’s maintenance. It’s lack of quality really.
The bread basket keeps getting stuck, we have to use A LOT of force to remove it. What is the best solution?
I’ve selected the 1.25 kg French bread recipe on crusty as advised by the book the bread has risen that much and is currently baking and is completely pressed against the viewing window how is this normal, it’s so big?? Does this mean it’s not going to cook properly? The bread that I can see pushed against the viewing window is completely white and everything was measured exactly as recipe stated.
Hi, we just bought our custom loaf bread maker. Although we are able to make great bread loads but in just few days of usage, there are lots of scratches appearing on bread making bowl. Just concerned with the quality of Teflon coating.
