Enjoying my new juicer – I'm new to juicing and wanted to start with a juicer that didn't break the bank but that people were happy with. This Breville Juice Fountain Compact fits the bill. It's small enough to leave on my kitchen benchtop and straight forward to setup and clean and does a good job on juicing celery, carrots, etc. I am pleased with my $129 purchase from Harvey Norman and can recommend it. Best bang for buck, though noisy and somewhat less efficient than cold-pressers – In my seven years sporadically using this juicer, it has worked reliably and juices admirably for its type. Why sporadically? Produce is expensive, and juicers chew through produce like mad. Having recently purchased a cold-press juicer, I can confirm that the Breville Juice Fountain does a commendable job of extracting juice in comparison.… Read more
Cold-pressers do better, but for triple the outlay they will not give you even close to twice the juice: in my experience, they're about 25—30% more efficient in that regard. The Breville is very noisy however: it's difficult to have a conversation with anyone whilst operating this machine and I certainly wouldn't use it in an apartment block, out of consideration for my neighbours ... but it is a powerful and well-built machine.
A big plus with this device is how easy it is to pull apart, clean and re-assemble; the main difficulty being cleaning the conical mesh strainer-basket without damaging it, using the supplied stiff brush. But cleaning this part is critical to the performance of the juicer: it must be thoroughly cleaned and pores cleared in order to maximise the device's juice extraction performance. By-the-way, it's advisable to clean the machine immediately after juicing, before the pulp begins drying. Even leaving it for half an hour after juicing will dramatically increase the effort required to clean it.
Be advised, this machine spins at the speeds and loudness of a bench grinder, so operating it is a rather agricultural experience. When making a big batch of juice, a constant-feeding approach with an open chute (as facilitated by a slow-turning, cold-press juicer) is ill-advised with this machine as lone, harder veggie pieces will readily be ejected from the chute. Juicing in full-chute batches, however (using the supplied plunger) requires long waits for the device to spin down between refills. I haven't timed it, but I'm quite sure it takes almost as long to spin down as it does to juice a full chute – something like 15 seconds I'm guessing – which is enough to double the total juicing time. The machine will smash almost instantly, soft individual pieces of fruit, revealing the crudeness of its juice extraction process. The processed pulp is moist-to-wet, depending on whether it's greens, veggies or juicy fruit, but it's never runny-wet. Yes, the odd larger piece of pulp gets through, but that even happens with cold-pressers, albeit less frequently. So while there are more efficient technologies available, this centrifugal extractor does a pretty good job. The resulting juice is smooth and free of grit or pith. The juice outputs a little warm though, which isn't great in terms of maximising the nutritional value of the extracted juice.
I make large batches of green juice for my family of four, and a full, nominally 800 ml jug (as supplied) is enough to divvy-up into four large glasses – one for each of us – after blending the green juice with avocado and ice in our blender to make a creamy, jade green smoothie. My favourite smoothie recipe requires the juicing of kale or spinach, apples, celery, cucumber, pineapple, lemon or lime ... and I like to add ginger. It's in juicing the drier, more cellulose ingredients like kale, spinach, celery and ginger that I feel this juicer is particularly outclassed by cold-pressing juicers, so combined with the overall loudness and 'roughness' of operation, I'm taking a star off the Breville Juice Fountain even though I think this is as good a centrifugal juicer as one can buy, and excellent value at only $139 today at Harvey Norman.
In conclusion, the Breville Juice Fountain Compact represents an excellent and affordable gateway into juicing for those unsure or just starting-out in juicing and looking for a cheap and cheerful solution. These may well be the best bang-for-buck juicers on the market, but buy one on the understanding that you'll be making a lot more noise and chewing through more fruit and veggies to get the quantities of juice you require than you would with a cold-presser. Though I can confirm that in terms of juice-extraction efficiency, a three-times dearer cold-press juicer will only deliver something like 30% more juice, at best: the main benefits of the dearer technology over the Breville Juice Fountain Compact are a far quieter and relaxed juicing experience, which counts for a lot; particularly first thing in the morning.
Brilliant Juicer. Moderate Price – Best juicer i have used. Ease of clean up best feature. Makes great juice. Leaves dry waste to squeeze. Noisy but does the job quickly. Show details

Good price for a functional juicer, but not the best if you're after the quality – What other people said in their reviews are true. A day after receiving this juicer, I tried to make a glass of green juice (kale, spinach, apple). It was good, but I also found some chucks left in the wastage in the juice collector. The wastage was also wet, which I guess still have quite some juice liquid left with them. For the second time, I… Read more
made pure orange juice and can see juice leaks from the juice collector.
Pro: If you're after a budget juicer that does the job, this is not bad. Con: some juice goes to waste; leakage; might not last for long
In-depth reviews
I didn't realise this was so good until I read reviews for others – To be honest, I have just started looking to buy a new juicer because I have had this one for approx 6 years and there is so much hype about cold-pressed juicers so I was about to jump on the very expensive bandwagon. Now, after reading about how annoying to clean and time-consuming (some) cold press juicers can be and how many juicers don't… Read more
last very long and some don't handle celery (which is a necessity for me), I am actually pretty awed by this one! The one that I have taken for granted as just an inexpensive bit of kit. I am actually very very impressed with it. It did have a year off, but has been juicing up to three times every single day for the last 4 months and doesn't look like it will stop any time soon. Before that year it had off it was used 3-14 times weekly for about 4 years. So after doing hours of reading and watching reviews for other machines I think I am just going to stick with the one I have.
Having said all of that, I will list the cons (which I don't see as that bad tbh)
Cons -noisy (really noisy) -occasionally leaves chunks which can be wasteful but that doesn't happen very much -not good with soft fruit or salad leaves (IMO), and ok, this is actually a bit annoying and I might actually buy a relatively cheap slow press one for the random occasion that I want, I don't know, blueberry juice or something. Buuut, I usually just make smoothies with soft fruit and salad leaves so maybe I'll just save my money.
Pros - -inexpensive -very quick -large chute -efficient -very easy to clean -easy to put together, so so easy -super simple, I honestly don't think you even really need instructions for it because it's so simple -dishwasher safe (I hand clean the blade/mesh bit, but you don't have to, but I would. Hahaha) -makes a good amount of juice (pulp is pretty dry after it's juicing ordeal) -IT HAS LASTED 6 YEARS!!!
OMG, I cannot believe I didn't love and adore this thing more! I should be kissing it after all the c**p I have read today. Last thing, I use this for hard fruit and veg only, which it is perfect for. NOT soft fruit and veg, which it is NOT good for...IMO.
Excellent Juicer – My wife has juiced every morning for many years but her faithful old Philips juicer finally gave up the ghost. It was now a discontinued model so the search for a new one began, reading reviews and watching youtube clips etc. Our main worry was that most juicers under the $200 range did not seem to be good with the harder veges such as carrot and… Read more
beetroot. Anyway, the Breville Juice fountain was chosen and we haven't looked back. It really is an excellent juicer and it is much easier to clean than our old one - and processes the juice much better too. It is a nice looking machine too and we keep it in a corner of the kitchen on the work bench where as our old one was always tucked away in a cupboard as it was a bit ugly! We have had the machine a year now and it has worked for us nearly every day without a problem. Some of the reviews on here seem to complain about apple juicing but we have never juiced apples so can't provide any feedback there. We would recommend this machine for carrots, beetroot, celery, cucumber and lettuce. My wife gets one large drink with no lumps with 2-3 carrots, 1/4 beetroot, 1/4 cucumber and two sticks of celery so a healthy drink is cheap as chips.
Surprisingly useful – Thought this would just get used a few times then sit in the cupboard, but actually we have used it constantly now for over a month. It makes better quality juice than what you can buy, and is much better than using a blender. The best flavour combination is apple + carrot (roughly 1 carrot for 2 apples) + 1 banana + 1 cm ginger + 1 handful of… Read more
spinach, which is beautiful. You can experiment with berries etc. Sometimes we core the apples but it doesn't make much difference to the taste, but I do take off any stalks and cut the bitter green top off the carrots. Also tried making tomato juice but that's revolting. It makes beautiful orange juice, especially if mixed with mandarin or tangelo, but we peel citrus and remove the pith. Also makes a nice carrot juice on its own.
Cleaning the bowl and lid is easy, using the tap spray and it can also be put in the dishwasher top shelf. Cleaning the little screen is a bit more tricky, using water spray and brush until the mesh is clear. The dog will often eat the leftover pulp if there is no citrus in it. Only negative is the jug you fit to the side can spill if knocked, and if you forget to put it on its a major disaster.

Good Juice for the Price – Good juicer. Bit hard to clean given the design but good results from juicing. Have not had wet pulp as stated by some others. Used for carrot, celery, ginger, apple, lemon, tomato, orange, mango, peach and nectarine with no issues. Would recommend. Show details
Smooth Juice – I bought this product a few weeks ago and love the juice that comes out. It feels smooth to drink - there is a smooth creamy froth that is a thin layer of fine, tastiness. Not like in other machines I've had in the past. I find it quiet, especially compared to a blender. Clean up is easy enough. I've used this for celery juice and mixed juices.… Read more
The fibre is fairly dry and not much more juice comes out if I put it through a second time. This design is easy to use, easy to clean and reassemble and easy to take out the fibre catcher and put it through again.
Love it! – Great juicer! So easy to use and clean. Gets lots of juice. Compact size. If you want extra pulp then just add some of it back in to the juice. Best purchase! Show details
Negative reviews
Breville Juice Fountain Compact BJE200 – I juiced oranges, apples, pears, leafy greens and carrots getting a full container of pulp and only one small jug of juice that came with the machine. Pulp was wet and dripping, wherefore it should have been heaps drier, giving more juice. It went to the bin. I would NEVER buy a Breville juicer ever again. Show details
Doesn't last – Juiced great and used about 50 times before burning smell from motor and started to run slow. Warranty was only 12 months so I had to through away . Would have expected it to last longer. Show details
A great juicer – Been making apple and strawberry juice and watermelon juice. It so quick and fast. Easy to clean. Yes a lot of pulp, but thats good for my compost bin. Out of 4 apples and 250gms of strawberrys I got 800mls juice. Out of 1/4 watermelon got about the same for total of $1.55. Update...notice now when juicing juice leaks out under the round pulp… Read more
collector. Not to happy about this. Will be returning to store for a refund!
October 26th 2019 Update: Leaks juice around the top
Had this juicer since Dec 2018. When used a lot at first, it didnt leak juice. Now it leaks juice from around the top of lid and down the side of juicer. Returning for a refund!

Love the texture and taste – Great juicer for not the fate hearted, great multi use tool for cooking and processing food and fruits too. Absorbs through much amount of juice extract and easy to clean throughout Show details
Not much juice – Bought this juicer because of all the good reviews. Juiced a variety of greens (kale, celery, spinach) - provided minimal juice and a whole tonne of pulp in the garbage section. Used about $20 worth of veggies to get a cup of juice - would've been easier to spend $12 for a 1L juice at Top Juice. Don't recommend. Show details
Great: easy to use and clean – I usually make fruit juice with carrots and celery and they are perfect. The juicer does not work well with frozen fruits. It is compact and extremely clean to use. The amount of juice extracted exceed the average juicer I have tried before. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fair price/quality option. Show details
Love it – The price is at a normal price, I bought it at $98 which is alright. The size is okay, can juice out 1.5L that’s mean 6 cups of water which is suitable for a family if each one of you only drink 250ml There’s a easy clean design, its round shape prevent trap of food in the bleander and it also comes with a brush when you buy it which is so convenient, if you do not want to brush it by yourself, you can also put in to the dishwasher, love it! Was Ok but not good as I was hoping – I used it to get Apple and carrot juice, It always left big chunks of fruit even though Apples. And from my opinion it’s not worth the money. If you are spending $95 for just a juicer and wasting your fruit as well. Not worth it. I bought it from good guys and they said it meant to be do that. If you don’t want the chunks go for a big one which is the next model of $167. Show details
Probably not worth it – Sister bought this product and only used it twice, depends on the fruits you buy but you have to buy quite a few apples to get a cup of juice. The cleaning process after is tedious and its quite noisy so you'll have to use it in the daytime. It does its job pretty well but i would probably just go out and buy some juice or boost to save myself the hassle. Show details
Excellent Juicer – Extremely happy with my purchase of this juicer! After watching some documentary movies ie, fat sick and nearly dead. I decided to give juicing a go and borrowed a old juice fountain but found clean up a absolute nightmare but this juicer is compact and easy to clean and I have now ditched the juice fountain for this one. It's only me juicing in… Read more
our house and it doesn't have a very large capacity so just keep that in mind. Would say perfect for one or two people max. Excellent product none the less
Great juicer – I bought this because easy to wash and put back. I had previou machine was hard to put back and too many to wash. It’s very easy to use. In short time I can make healthy veg and fruits juice for breaky. Never had problem with this machine at all. Show details
Love it!!! No complaints so far! – I have had this product for about 3 months, got it at a very good price at Harvey Norman. No complaints so far! Been having my fresh juices so easily and don’t have to buy at Boost juice and pay $7 for a cup of healthy drink! Using a flat spatula to remove pulp around the round container makes cleaning a breeze! When it lasts for years then I’ll give it a 5!! But all in all very happy with it. Show details

Amazing Juicer. Too Good for its price – Recently bought it from Good guys store. This juicer is so easy to use and clean and not heavy on your pocket too. Using it every single day for last 2 weeks. Juicer works smoothly and extract maximum juice from all the veggies and fruits with its high power rotor. Highly recommendable to everyone. Show details
7 YEARS - EVERY SINGLE DAY! – This thing is a beast when it comes to longevity. Ours has only just ended its lifespan after 7 years of DAILY use. Pros - quality, juices 'general' fruit and vege (carrots, apples, oranges) Cons - clean up might be annoying to some, don't even to juice spinach Show details
Not as good as its other version – I was gifted this.. i found it works perfectly and does the job as it says but leftover collects in a machine so its fill up quite easily and to empty it have to undo everything..but saying i am using it from last 4 years and it works perfectly !!!! Show details
My old fountain juicer – I've had my breville juice fountain for twenty years and just updated to this one today I've had got a lot out of it and was an excellent product I'm sure this will see me through hopefully as the other fountain juicer did all those years ago and thanks to breville for your great products regards Dorothy Show details
I absolutely love this new juicer – This is the first time I am using a juicer and it is wonderful. The pulp is dry and juices out maximum juice out of any fruit. It's cheap and does a good job. However with soft fruits like strawberries and mangoes it's not that great. Overall I would recommend this to anyone new to juicing. Show reply
Great juicer for the short term – I've had this juicer coming up to a year now. It has been fantastic and made great juice 2-3 times a week. I tend to juice apples, cucumbers, oranges and sometimes a bit of ginger. Remember to clean the filters straight after use with a nylon brush as they block easily and can be troublesome to unclog. The blades are getting a bit blunt now and… Read more
I've looked into replacements which are going to cost $68.69 which seems excessive when i paid $99 for the original machine. Would certainly recommend for light users or if the blade replacement cost was less
Useless as a juicer – just bought one in an as new condition to replace my older Moulinex. Very disappointed, it's juicing capability is worse than my 20 year old Moulinex! Did the test, and the Breville extracts 12% less juice from an equal amount of carrots compared to my Moulinex. To add to the disappointment, the Moulinex uses 200W whilst the Breville has a 900W motor in it.
Great Product – Bought this recently and have made juice every day since. It's compact enough to sit on my bench-top permanently while large enough that it can juice an apple whole. It's efficient, easy to use and easy to clean. It produces a good amount of juice from what you put into it. I'd happily recommend this to anyone looking to buy an affordable juicer.
Absolutely brilliant – I bought the Breville the juice fountain BJE200 about 6 months ago now and i am very happy with it. I get beautiful juice and with the pulp i am able to use it to add to muffins, cakes ect. The product is very easy to clean. I would definitely recommend this product. Show reply
Healthy way of life – I cant live without my wonderful shiny new juicer. It juices through all my fresh vegetables and fruit with ease and so easy to wash up ( this was something really important to me ) and put together . It also looks fantastic in my new kitchen. I love it !!!
love the model – nice space saving machine - strong motor - easy to clean - good results - two minor issues are the small size of the pitcher and the pitcher lid which needs a better fitting - it moves too easy under the outlet and results in spills - with a paper towel or cloth under the container it works fine but shows again how careless and superficial many products are fabricated
Excellent – Compact, cheap price AU$ 100 delivered, works very well, easy to clean and not many parts. But it feels quality. It even looks good :) Was recommended by Choice and is worth it. Good for a couple of drinks in one go (800ml max. jug) Another great Breville product. This Brand is growing on me.
Good juicer – I got the Juice Fountain Compact as a gift in Jan 2015. I have been using it everyday and loving it. Easy to use and clean. A little bit noisy but I am fine with that. Have to be very quick when putting the fruits in else fruits will be flying out and bits of juices splattering all over the wall and bench and make a mess. Also have to put the jug well under the juicer spout else juices will spill. I get that sort of problem sometimes.
