Terrible microwave – So disappointed with this microwave. This is the second breville microwave I own and they take 10 minutes to warm up the food properly. I’ve bought a $50 Kmart microwave that heats up my food under 2 minutes when I keep having to put my food back in the microwave because it’s still cold. Looks good but it’s definitely not worth the money. So disappointing. Show details

Fantastic RED ONE – When we bought this one it took a bit of getting use to but the features it has is outstanding not to mention the color RED which my wife absolutely loves, this is important, happy wife etc.... I love the bright interior and ease of cleaning it. The sound when operating is slightly louder than our old on but it not intrusive. I also love the easy… Read more

to read digital display which I can see from the other side of the kitchen.

Breville were fantastic to deal with and would have no hesitation in recommending an Australian Company.

September 12th 2018 Update: BREVILLE, Great to deal with.

We have now had our beautiful Red BMO735 for about 6 months and we are extremely happy with the microwave and Breville. They gave us a fantastic deal after our old one gave up after 10 years and the new one has plenty of extra features. I love not having to use two hands to open it up. I also love the elimination of the timer and its nice looking and red which is what my wife wanted to match other appliances. Some people have complained of the noise but I don't find it so, yes, it is louder than our old one but its not intrusive.

Will never live without a microwave again – Coming from a family that believes stories about microwaves causing cancer etc, I used to never use one. How on earth I managed that I have no idea. It is the most convenient thing in the kitchen! My partner and I chose this in Cranberry to match the coffee maker from the same brand. It is refreshing to see appliances in colours different… Read more

from the conventional silver, black and white!

One of the first thing that drew us in was the large display screen, it tells you the power that is currently set for the microwave, the timer, and the set feature mode if it is on. The outside looks sleek, sturdy and well built.

The inside is just like any other microwave, but the surfaces are stainless steel rather than the painted surface on other models. The metallic shiny surface can drive someone with OCD crazy because of the streak marks, but not an issue for us. Food fragments that went flying during reheating comes off easily with a wet microfiber cloth.

The control surface on this one is a little different, usually there are buttons that controls the timer. The Breville Quick Touch has a twist dial instead of buttons which is located around the Start button, it clicks as you twist it, and with each click the timer goes up in 10 second increments. If you spin the dial quickly it goes up from 30 seconds to 7 minutes. This is a convenient feature for someone who uses a microwave for the purpose other than occasionally heating up leftovers and defrosting meat, but a slightly annoyance for me as sometimes I would accidentally make mistakes in setting the timer, having to cancel and start again. Which is only minor nuisance, not a design fault and only takes seconds to rectify. I found the action of twist and press to start the reheat process very easy as it is in just about the same place, instead of having to locate the start button which is almost always at the bottom of the control panel. The little bit more button let you reheat for 10 seconds, which is neat little feature!

The features I have used so far is only reheat and defrost. Which is quite straightforward, and the feature buttons are clearly labelled. The Smart features (cook, reheat, defrost) are the three silver buttons located on the side of the main control panel. In each of the smart modes it lets you pick a food type, and the weight of the food you put inside, and it calculates the time it needs to perform each duty. Which allows you to avoid situations where your food is hot/warm on the outside but cold/frozen on the inside.

The other features are just inside the door, which opens with a handle instead of disengaging by pressing a button. This design helps to keep the panel outside looking clean so a klutz like me won't accidentally press the wrong button which would throw off all the setting I have done. So inside is your conventional reheat/cook/defrost setting, followed by a few neat little features at the bottom like popcorn, melting chocolate, soften butter and buttons required to set the clock. So far I have used the melting chocolate and soften butter features, but unfortunately it didn't met my needs and I had to resort to manually setting the microwave and hitting the "little bit more" button multiple times to get the job done.

The noise level of this microwave really depends on the space where it is placed. When we first got it, it sat on the bench top, where the noise doesn't reverberate so it is bearable. But when I moved there is a designated enclosed space for it in the kitchen, the sound reverberates and we can hear it in all corners of the apartment. It's a microwave, it will make a noise! I have yet to see one that is whisper quiet!

So in conclusion, Breville Quick Touch looks nice, is easy to clean, and comes with a number of neat features. My verdict? If you are looking for a good microwave, I would definitely recommend it!

Really good microwave – Heats quickly, simple to use, quiet, lots of options. Issues? Well, it could be better ventilated so steam can build up inside. Not sure if that could lead to rust issues long term (that I've seen some people complain about) but when I notice steam in there I simply leave the door ajar after using it - and let the steam escape. Some of the smart… Read more

features aren't perfect - the "soften butter" setting I find almost needs running through twice to actually soften butter - but perhaps that's because I'm taking the butter straight from the fridge. The "popcorn" setting usually needs a extra zap to minimise the number of unpopped kernels in a bag. Other settings work exactly as stated - whack a couple of slices of cold pizza in there, choose 'reheat - 2 slices of pizza' and the thing actually does it. I know that shouldn't amaze me, but it does as usually you would expect pizza from a microwave to be hot on one side and cool on the other - not evenly reheated. The only other incredibly minor issue is the "start" printing on the main button wore off quickly - but it's not like it takes a rocket scientist to work out how to start the thing. Oh and every now and then after removing food from it, a few minutes later it will randomly let out a single quiet 'beep' to remind you to remove the food that has already been removed. Odd, but whatever. We just ignore it. It would be annoying if it *kept* beeping, but it doesn't. :-)

So in short, it's a really good microwave. Had it for 2.5 years now, and still going strong.

Had this microwave for 8 years!!! – We bought this model microwave 8 years ago. It’s been moved at least 5 times with house moves and live most of its life in the hot tropics of Australia. It has never missed a beat. Best microwave we’ve (family of 4, daily use of at least 5 times a day) ever had!!! It died last night. Made a pop noise and then just doesn’t heat anymore. It is with heavy heart that I say - Goodbye my friend. Show details

Well priced and still works today – I use my microwave almost every day to either defrost or reheat food and I have not had any issues with it. I don't use the other functions too much - mostly defrost, temperature and time. It's a sturdy good quality item that is also well priced. I love the matt silver and it's very easy to clean Show details

Worked well but did not last long – The microwave worked well, I really liked the dial controls - quick and easy to use. However after 1 year and 10 months of really moderate use (maybe 1 min per day), the microwave has stopped working. Would not power on at all. Shame warranty is only 12 months. P.S. Purchased LG NeoChef Inverter microwave to replace the dead Breville - nice design, easy to use and much quieter too. Show details

6 years old and still in perfect condition! – My house has a colour scheme of red and you have no idea how hard it is to find a nice red microwave! Disposable Electronics – Well once again I can understand why this is a discontinued model. Until last night the machine did what a microwave is built to do, & then I went to open the door. The whole handle came off in my hands. I found my receipt, which has faded to a point where you can hardly read it, but indicated it was a little over 4 years old. I also had my… Read more

extended product care warranty stapled to the receipt which stated I had purchased an extra 48 months. Hopefully this will cover the cost of repair or replacement as the timeframe has not elapsed. In most cases a trip to the point of purchase for assistance tells you this is to be expected in a disposable society. Unfortunately I don't have a disposable $400 to replace it.

Poor Quality - Ok – Update: The wheels on the turntable broke off and the microwave made a horrific screeching sound worse than fingernails down a chalkboard. Just upgraded to the LG Neo and love it! out all along the inside of the door and subsequently on the face where it closes. The inside ceiling also has rust spots. I only ever clean with a wet microfibre cloth - no chemicals etc so no idea how this has happened but I am extremely disappointed in the quality. Most of my appliances are breville and I’ve noted that the quality just isn’t what it used to be. Can’t be replaced under extended warranty as rust is excluded so will have to bear with it and replace it with a better quality product from another brand. Disappointed.

Beautiful looking, but not as good as our old sharp one – Our last microwave strangely ended up with a black hole in the inside top of the oven, so we decided it was time for a new one. disappointing – Heats well. Annoyances: Even though it has a beep volume level control, which I was excited about, you can't put it on silent! And for all it's massive showy LCD display, unlike an old-school microwave, you can't read the clock at night. Realised for me this is an important feature for a microwave, as it's the main readable clock in the night. The main button-dial is wobbly rather than feeling solid/quality. Otherwise fine. Show details

I have kids who love their microwave popcorn, and we have tried to pop it via the popcorn setting and also the normal setting, however we are left with a bag of half popped popcorn and half corn kernels. Stylish and functional – This microwave is so stylish and functional. The stainless steel brush finish is mark resistant, so does not leave lingering fingerprints. The interior is roomy enough to fit larger plates too!  Show details

Great full featured microwave – Now this is a microwave! Love it. The only thing we have noticed that is not perfect is that, when you use the Smart Sensor to reheat, it tends to overcook if you let it go full cycle. You need to watch it when you use this mode. Like any microwave, you need to get used to how fast it cooks in different modes. All in all, fantastic; highly recommend.  Show details

Stays cool and looks pretty – I like how stylish and pretty this microwave looks in my kitchen, it matches the dishwasher, the fridge and other appliances, The stainless steel brush shiny finish complements all the other appliances perfectly. I do not worry too much about the spaces around and I think that the air ventilation around it is enough having small gaps of around 2-3 cm all around. It does not get hot and the surface always stays cool.  Show details

starsexpensive, takes up a lot of space for capacity – Instruction manual says it requires 8" clearance on sides and 12" on top - that's crazy. That means you need a space almost 4x the volume of the microwave itself to fit it. (Microwave itself is 12.5" height and 20.5" wide). That's a lot of counter space to allocate to this, and a lot more than comparable microwaves (which seem to be 3-4" on sides,… Read more

top, and back). Only nice thing is that it does not say it requires space on the back.

Dial is finicky; it's easy to overshoot the time you want by a lot - the increments of time accelerate as you spin it, so it jumps to 20-30 minutes really quickly. What can even survive being microwaved for that long?

I like that the screen shuts off when it hasn't been recently used - one fewer glowing LED in your kitchen all the time.

4. The dials and the overall interface - this is what really makes this a unique item - I'm so tired of the standard keypad you see on a microwave - having dials to adjust the time and power level give this item a nice look.

5. The larger door window - while the interior window is about the same as my old microwave, from the outside the glass is larger and gives the microwave a nice look overall than the smaller window on my old microwave.
