I bought this to replace my other breville mixer which i gifted to my sister. I like the machine but the noise from it is next level. So much so that i had it serviced under warranty but sadly it came back exactly the same. In this model they have also removed the handle on the head of the machine which was very handy for lifting the head and… Read more
moving the machine.
Additionally the matt black shows all the fingerprints and marks.
Sadly i can not recommend this machine perky for the noise.
Reasonable hardware downgraded by customer care factor – We've owned many Breville appliances some have been praiseworthy & most (but not all) have been reasonably decent. Purchased Breville mixer to replace a trusty 50yo Kenwood Chef that finally ate it's own metal gearbox. Upside the Breville is mid range in price & build quality - not as exxy or sturdy as say KitchenAid but a cut above Big Box… Read more
plasticky house brands plus offers a small range of power take off accessories (we bought the mincer grinder). Downside just shy of a year's ownership and the silicone scraper blade splits and starts breaking away from the alloy paddle. Considering a mixer especially one ambitiously named Bakery Chef is primarily intended to do two jobs exceptionally well (creaming batter & aeration whisking) this was not an insignificant failure. Not to worry, we should be able to rely on Breville warranty & customer care AHEM NOT. Breville instead insisted their warranty excludes consumables such as glass & ceramic components to which I politely pointed out that the beater paddle is an essential part of the appliance, is neither glass nor ceramic, is not specifically excluded in their written material (User Manual or web online) & it's unreasonable for consumers to guess at what components may or may not be consumable. Breville instructed us to purchase a replacement paddle from their website & ceased any further communication. Final kicker was Breville had no available stock of the paddle and no ETA for next available shipment (Nov'23). Net result - one year old mixer that can't do its intended function, negligible manufacturer lip service, no replacement paddle available to purchase & a disappointed customer unlikely to shop Breville for future appliances.
Scraper beater is a consumable part not covered under warranty – I wanted to wait a while to write this review, hoping Breville will come to my rescue, BUT no such luck. I had this mixer for 11 months. Then the scraper- beater had split. I made a claim under warranty as with out this piece of equipment the machine can't mix so I can bake. As this is called The Bakery Chef, you would think it is an important… Read more
feature! I sent copies of receipts, pictures of damage and a full explanation of how/ when this happened. Explained there was No dishwasher, no boiling hot water, no commercial use etc.... Any way I emailed on 2 occasions before they answered me only to inform me that the scraper-beater is a consumable product and not covered. It also excludes breakables such as glass and ceramic items, consumable items such as those that require periodic replacement. You would think that 11 months is NOT satisfactory for Periodic replacement.
So their thinking is that nothing is covered except the machine itself. How is this so? We emailed back to them on 02/11/2023 -By your broad statement your company can ambiguously and retrospectively claim any part or component of the Bakery hub as a consumable and therefore excluded from warranty is this your official position that you wish to defend against Australian Consumer Law, QLD Office of Fair Trading and the broader consumer advocacy community?
Your ACL compliant course of action is to repair, replace or refund subject to whether a split silicon blade is deemed a minor or major defect. If your consumable argument is to limit manufacturer obligation against ongoing future product failure then we request refund as we would not have purchased this device given the uncertainty of product performance or ongoing support.
We are still awaiting a response!
BTW, you can't buy a new scraper from them as there still is none in the country. I have been trying since Nov 2023.
Great product so far – I purchased this product today as it looked better put together than some of the pricier stand mixers, while still aesthetically pleasing. Having read other reviews on this mixer my only concern was thee reported loudness- however, i was very pleased to see that it isn’t loud at all! It’s actually less noisy than a regular hand mixer. The fastest… Read more
speed setting is the loudest and I didn’t find it aversively loud at all, so I’m pleased about that. I’ll attach videos with sound so you can hear the sound as that would have helped me to see while deliberating options. I have used the machine once so far, to make cookies and it works like a dream. The silicone scraper attachment scraps the sides and bottom of the bowl. The bowl is quite a large size and I wasn’t prepared for that so probably made too small of a quantity but that’s an easy adjustment. The light it has is really useful to clearly see inside your bowl while it’s on. The splash guard is handy as well. Overall very satisfied with this product- will look to review again in 12 months to see how it goes over time.
Perfect for our needs – We purchased this mixer to replace a very large Kenwood and so far we are very inpressed. When kneading bread dough this mixer moves around less than the larger Kenwood. Cord storage is brilliant and the light into the bowl is a good surprise. Better mixerthan was first thought good sturdy construction. Would recommend highly. Show details
Mixed OK...but very noisy – I previously had a BEM800 for many, many years, but decided to replace it when the speed starting picking up or slowing down mid-cycle. I have only used it once, but am disappointed at how noisy it is. It reminds me of a plane warming up before take-off, or bearings that are shot and need repacking with grease. Time will tell regarding the… Read more
longevity of it, however, this said, there was no smell from the motor to indicate anything was faulty. I was making banana bread, and it mixed the ingredients well without an issue. Following one use of this machine, I am already wishing I hadn't been such a scrooge, and had gone for a higher end machine, rather than mid-range.
