We built a kitchen with white gloss cabinets – And we have added splashes of colour but wanted the very visible top of bench machine to not be one of those splashs. The blacks, chromes and cranberry colours we saw didn't suit. We were left with this matte off-white machine or a fully automatic Jura machine in gloss white. The local Jura agent admitted to comments that theirs doesn't make HOT coffee, as is the European but not Aussie style. It also had a small water jug.

So the Breville. Being semi-automatic there are coffee grounds that pepper around the machine. It's not a bright white like the Jura and our cabinets.

It's noisy! But for a coffee I can put up with the volume.

Sometimes the basket sticks into the machine when removing it & things spill, not always though. Double wall basket for us.

Worst thing. If wand-ing milk until the hot water runs out the machine then sucks up some milk. If not blown out before drying the milk solidifies and the wand then becomes blocked - every time. Be warned.

The wife now regrets not getting the Jura coz of the grounds, she however likes coffee hot!

We could have bought an inbuilt machine for $5k to match the oven & stove - next time.

It was bought as Covid arrived so we've given it a good test.

Great machine, quality design – I’ve had my BES878 White for about 4 weeks now. It took me around 120g of coffee to dial in the perfect espresso, however once all set up it is very easy to use. I love the design and the way it sits on my kitchen bench top. The assembly is very easy, and the instructions are clear. Once unboxed and set up after inserting the water filter and your basket in to your portafilter you are ready to rumble.

I would certainly recommend the machine if you are a coffee lover.

I really do wish I purchased the Stainless Steel over the white. This is my only complaint. For a machine that costs almost $1000 the quality on the paint job isn’t the greatest. I’ve already got small scratch and chip marks which is starting to peel the white away. I can’t even imagine what it will look like after a year. This is occurring where I rest the milk jug at times when I’m steaming milk. My tip is to steam your milk away from the drip tray. This is my only feedback to Breville. Outside of this great machine and would highly recommend if you are a coffee lover.

Purchased in at JB Hi-Fi for $789.
