Don't recommend for bread making at all – Useless for bread dough, started to overheat, bought a Kenwood, much better motor.

One big annoyance – It works well, beats fast, kneads dough like a boss BUT the whisk attachment doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl so when trying to do things like beat egg whites the whisk just buzzes around the top of them and doesn’t actually touch it. Very annoying.

Great when it was working, bit dangerous when it decides to break open – I bought this for my daughter to make cakes. She has used it perhaps six or seven times. Today the head unit fell apart after the gear screeched its way through the body. Edit: Last week I took the unit to the Breville repair centre as per Breville's instructions. Today I picked it up and was told it was all fixed. The head unit is now so wonky… Read more

and wobbly that the whole unit shudders when turned on, much more so when at medium or fast speed. This has to be some sort of joke.

Solidly built, easy to use – Bought this from Betta in Kingaroy for $338. Made a couple of pizza doughs and a loaf of bread, it does a fantastic job and does not jump all over the place as I follow the instructions and use it on no 1 speed. Made a cake and that come out nice. This machine is very easy to use and would recommend it. Show details

This mixer is my baby I love it – So obsessed with my mixer! I received it for Mother’s Day and I could not be happier. It does everything I need it today in a matter of minutes. And the built in timer and light!!! Argh love it!!

Solid, powerful yet easy to use Mixer – This mixer has replaced the Sunbeam I bought in June, and reviewed last week, used 3 or 4 times, then returned because it failed. This mixer is heavier than the Sunbeam, however still able to be lifted out when I need to use it. I use a mixer maybe 3 or 4 times a month so not a heavy user but I do want it to work well and be easy to use. As I… Read more

unpacked it I did notice they used that white styrofoam instead of cardboard which many appliances are packed with these days. The bowl is glass, which I wanted to avoid but they do sell stainless steel ones according to their website so pleased the option is there. The dough hook and whisk are both metal however the scraper paddle, which is the one I will use most often, is plastic! That is disappointing and I do hope it is possible to purchase a replacement if needed. I like the handle at the front of the top which makes lifting the head easy and the tilt release button is large and easy to push. The single paddle is very easy to click into place and that makes setting up fast. The speed slide on the side is clear and smooth. There is a guide showing each attachment and what the reccomended use for them is.....but this is on the front of the main body, behind the bowl, so not easy to check while mixing. I have only used this mixer once and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and quiet it is. The butter and sugar creamed beautifully and when I incorporated the flour (using speed 1) there was no *flour dust*. The mixture was faultless. Overall I am very happy with this Mixer and find it great value for money and is very good for the baking basics. I would like to see Breville move away from styrofoam packaging though and still cannot understand why a plastic beater.

Terrible product – Bought this machine from Good Guys Joondalup 8/10/2018. Didn't use til 13/10/18. Mixed a light batter. Left for 1 hour. Turned it on to make butter icing and wouldn't turn on. Very frustrating. Very hard ti make contact with Breville, no easy Australian phone number from W.A. Eventually had reply from Breville via email, to be told to return it… Read more

to place of purchase. They have to test it, meanwhile I'm without a mixer. Wish I'd read reviews before i purchased.

Take minutes to whip a bottle of cream and hours to clean up the mess – Does a pretty good job at Pizza bases, cakes extra but big problem is the no splash guard. Breville don't make one to fit it and have nothing that will fit it. Making bread crumbs or biscuit crumbs, whipping cream or a cake is out of the question as the mixer jumps all over the bench and food spills settle on the wall, tiles, and floor. A nice reliable mixer – I've used it to mix up a few cakes. I love using it to make Sponge Cakes using the Whisk Attachment. It comes with a whole bunch of attachments to cover dough, general mixing, whisking. For the price it's a quality mixer that is better than more expensive brands. The bowl being glass is very handy as you can see all the ingredients being mixed.  Show details

Extremely satisfied – I have made pavlova, cakes and biscuits all mixed to perfection and in half the time it took me using a hand mixer. I am happy with glass bowl as you can see at a glance when to stop. The attachments are great I haven't used the dough hook yet. It operates with minimal noise.  Show details

A really solid mixer – I suspect that this model Breville mixer (BEM430) may have recently been discontinued or replaced by the somewhat dearer BEM 820, though this is just a guess & I may well be wrong. We needed to replace our trusty 40-year-old Kenwood Chefette that sadly stopped working, (probably it was just motor brushes but it had a good life). We then set out… Read more

looking for a replacement & looked at several from very cheap to the very expensive & were in fact dissuaded by the usual stainless steel bowls.

Our old mixer had an, (albeit lightweight, opaque), glass bowl this we preferred & it never was an issue. We absolutely hated the ones that had suction cups as feet as we have a granite benchtop, so extricating it from the storage cupboard or benchtop would have been so annoying!

We really only needed a basic mixer as all we’ve done for some years was occasionally beat cream, no cakes, doughs, or other, so the dough hook & the scraper will most likely never be used.

I have always graded Breville somewhere between Kambrook & Kenwood but we were really impressed by the build quality of the Breville. In fact the Kenwood looked somewhat cheap & plasticky in comparison.

Why I say I thought this model was a discontinued one was the price that was a great $99 at Big W. So in summery a great solid mixer that does just what we need, not too big but not too small & flimsy.

Excellent Mixer! – This mixer is everything you need for at-home baking. It's simple functionality and range of speeds is perfect for any kind of baking and mixing that you might need to do. The three attachments (dough hook, whisk and scraper) are all great and produce excellent results. Since purchasing this mixer in December, I have used it at least once a week.… Read more

It is sturdy without being overly heavy, the attachments and the glass bowl are of a very good quality, and wash well (hand wash). This is an excellent product!

Nice Looking Mixer – Compact and lighter than my previous Sunbeam. Was hesitant with the glass bowl as I have only had stainless steel however its fine I am a little more aware when washing up not to knock it about too much. The Scraper attachment was a bit tight initially but its fine now and mixes really well. The whisk does a beautiful job of egg whites and cream. The dough hook has not had any use so far. I got mine at Good Guys $260. So shop around.  Show details
