can I shorten the shaft to give me more clearance at the roof

I would not like to recommend shortening the shaft or otherwise, for safety reasons, as the heat would radiate and be at a lower level and therefore could be deemed not safe. You would be best advised to contact the manufacturer for a definitive answer. Hope that helps.

Hi Jim. It would be very dangerous to modify any part of the original product to function differently than it was intended. All our products are tested thoroughly and carry strict warnings against making any modifications. Thanks for the inquiry.

My patio roof is colourbond and the height from floor to roof is 2.3 mtrs, is there sufficient clearance between the heater and the roof to prevent damage to the paint on the roof panels?

This heater is 2.2m tall and requires a minimum roof clearance of 1.2m so unfortunately in your case there wouldn't be sufficient clearance.

I'm wondering what grade of stainless steel this heater is...314 I'm hoping as we are beach side and rust is a problem in outdoor applications.

Thanks,

Hi Angela, sounds like you have a great location! The burner head for the COMP710-3 patio heater is made from 304 Grade Stainless Steel so won't rust - this is the most important part of the heater. The body is constructed from 202 Grade Stainless Steel. You can also browse our website external link  for some alternative and more high-end outdoor heating solutions. For example, our Platinum Smart-Heat Gas range is wind-resistant and does not rust, so ideal for beach-side locations. Hope this helps! Regards, Bromic.

What distance does the heat radiate?

Hi Michael, as an approximate figure the heater could radiate heat up to 3 metres all around. But this does depend on the specific location of the heater and also climate conditions such as wind. If you are looking for any other outdoor heating options, you can also have a look at external link  where we sell stylish gas and electric outdoor heaters. Hope this helps. Regards, Bromic.
