This NBN Service Provider was a budget friendlier offshoot of Aussie Broadband before being recently sold to Tangerine in mid 2025. I signed up in July 2025 to try it out since Aussie Broadband had raised prices and my bonus rates had ended. I'm on NBN HFC. I had been reading forums about the cutover and that some customers initially had issues… Read more

if they were originally Aussie Broadband customers and were on staying on the same NBN speed tier. With this foresight, I switched my NBN speed tier to a different one before the cutover.

The cutover was very smooth and happened as planned overnight on the 30st of June 2025. By the morning of the 1st of July 2025. My service was online and active.

I'm writing this review now after having been with them for 4 months. I still have no complaints or concerns. The lack of phone support isn't a big issue like it was before, as we now have 4G/5G mobile internet backup in the event of a disruption to log support cases. Their human support by chat is responsive during weekdays. But it would help other customers if Buddy Telco were more upfront that their support channel is not staffed on weekends. I haven't had to contact them to report an outage on a weekend yet.

Being powered on Aussie Broadband's network infrastructure, they are very good at keeping things in order and providing plenty of notice for planned/unplanned outages.

CG-NAT is not a roadblock to using Buddy Telco as my NBN ISP. I access my devices over IPv6, and Buddy Telco provides a generous /48 prefix subnet which stays fixed.

The internet service itself is fine, reliable connection, no drops out. But no weekend support and no telephone support is a huge negative. I ended up signing up with another service and spent 2 hours with them to fix the issue. Buddy responded 3 days later, and then 18+ hours after that to my next message. It would have taken weeks at that rate… Read more

to resolve my issue. If anyone isn't super tech savvy and/or needs reliable internet for WFH or the likes, I recommend another provider. I lost several days work over this situation.

The sign up process was straightforward. It took about an hour to swap the service. I had an online chat before to check a few things and. I was impressed 1) the chat got taken up in about 1 minute 2) the person seemed to respond to me quickly - not that scenario when they are doing 5 chats at once and you ask something and wait minutes for a… Read more ·  2

response each time you write something new 3) They were knowledge about their products, the NBN and the internet! I asked a question about CGNAT and they answered quickly and precisely. They knew what I was talking about. 4) The team seem to be as claimed, Australian from the way they communicate.

Many others who claim to have Aussie support could learn a thing or two. If you wait 10 minutes to start a chat , minutes between each interaction or the staff are not very knowledgeable then it doesn’t matter they are Australian.

I hope buddy keep it up

Can’t fault the online customer service they are great , unfortunately was charged twice on one occasion for a month and I noticed my bill would get increasingly more than the agreed upon 73 dollars a month. internet was also slow and experienced drop outs, having spoken to the online customer service a couple of times about it , the issue would… Read more

be fixed temporarily than return . Overall not happy about the double charge and my bill amount being larger than what agreed upon and increasing every month thus making me leave this company as way to expensive and when I left also received a closure invoice of $50 in which I have never received from any other provider. Don’t get me wrong I would of been happy to pay it if my speeds were adequate and I wasn’t double charged but just feel like I’m throwing money away

Was with ABB, quite happy with the service, so I didnt think twice to swing over to Buddy to save some money. I submitted my order on Fri 1pm, assuming the service would cut over by 5pm, as the statement says "we see services connect within the hour, but sometimes it can take up to 4 hours depending on the service type". Didn't happen by 5pm, so I… Read more

thought that's fine, they should get on with it by Monday. Little did I expect they have submitted a termination request to AAB, and my internet was terminated at around 1am on Sat. So now my entire family will be without internet service for the entire weekend, as their live chat support is only available from Mon to Fri. Anyone with a bit of common sense, would be to ensure the new service is up/avail, before submitting a request to terminate from original provider. So I can only deduce common sense is a luxury at Buddy. Disappointment is a severe understatement.

Very reliable and stable connection, good speeds and at a fair price. Would be nice though if there was a tier between 100Mbit and 1000Mbit. Show details ·  1

Only about 2 weeks into changing from Mate to Buddy (like changing my pet's food from Chum to Pal :)) but I'm pretty impressed with Buddy. Both being relatively budget Telcos of same NBN, I decided to ditch Mate after 5 years with them. The last 6 months, disconnections whilst MS Teaming when WFH was constant. I tried new router, fiddled with… Read more ·  1

settings, nothing made it better. I thought I'll try changing ISP as a last resort, and make use of new customer discounts. Switch over to Buddy, took about 30mins/1hr, relatively painless, but what a difference to consistency. Speed tests were about the same, but haven't had one disconnection in a MS Teams chat, or in my online FC25 Games. Support-wise, I've only been sent automated emails/notifications for connection setup, but I don't expect to contact them often.

Connected very quickly but unfortunately I seem to have dropouts everyday, it's unfortunate they don't have a phone service where you can actually chat to someone to resolve problems. Show details

Considering swapping – I am thinking of swapping my current nbn with Buddy Telco, just reading some reviews about CGNAT, if I have CCTV home security cameras and also sonus, etc, does this mean it will effect everything? I'm a little confused? Show reply

Great when things are working. Not great when they're not – Great when it works. When it doesn't expect slow chat responses and resolution. My service went down on Saturday and I messaged them on the app the same day. No response until Monday and it was just "reset and see what happens" type of a response. I did that and nothing changed so I messaged them the results before their stated end of working… Read more

Thanks Jordan – I’m still fairly new to Buddy, but so far, the internet has been great. I did encounter a connection issue at the beginning, but Jordan from Tech Support was incredibly helpful and resolved it quickly. I feel very confident in my choice of Buddy Telco. Show reply

Save yourself the trouble – My old provider was putting my monthly fee up by $28 pcm so started looking for alternatives. Found the Buddy website and decided to give it a try. Within 20 minutes of signing up, my internet link dropped out, so was eagerly awaiting the reconnection, which never happened!! fault. At 10.30 on a Tuesday morning chat with a chat bot, which kept insisting that I was trying to resolve a fault “out of hours”. Finally after 24 hours of frustration and no internet, I contacted my old provider by phone and my old service was restored. Better the devil you know. Oh, and I got billed for the day’ (non) service by Buddy. Good luck with this model guys. Think you may need it.

Fast, cheap, perfect – I switched from Aussie to Buddy to save a few dollars. The change was done in a few hours, and the speeds have been better than advertised. Perfection so far! The only downside is the lack of telephone customer service, but I've never had to call my previous supplier, and don't expect I'll have any problems here that can't be solved with their text chat service. Show details ·  1

Savings to be had and a seamless transfer experience – I moved to Buddy Telco from a very large NBN/Telco in their first week of operation in July 2024. The experience was a good one. Initial contact with Buddy via online chat to confirm availability and a few other matters was easy, with the consultant knowledgable and helpful. (within 30 minutes), with my new Buddy service immediately available. I dispensed with my modem and plugged a new Eero router directly into the NBN termination box and presto my new Internet service was up and running. Speeds on the plan selected are met and generally are higher than advertised. I have essentially the same service for $35 a month cheaper than what I was paying. Once the initial discount ends (6 months) I will still be $25 a month better off. I have been impressed so far. Happy to be the first reviewer. Potential customers should be aware that Buddy is part of the Aussie Broadband group with the same underlying network infrastructure.
