Thought I'd switch over to Buddy Telco (since they're part of Aussie Broadband) from Superloop to give them (an Aussie battler) a go. BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE!!! Whatever issues there are with the internet via BT is not on my end...; I'm a techie, just so it's clear. It is BT...., all the way. BT is terrible, most terrible. Even TPG (from past… Read more

experiences) is slightly better. The connection is really spotty, inconsistent and totally unreliable and this is only the last 36 hours since signing up!!! Can't access my Netflix, Prime Video, or any of my other streaming services. NONE!!! Had zero problems with Superloop. My household is literally p*ssed off with me for signing up with BT.

Whenever I do a simple thing like a speed test using my Brave, Chrome, Edge, Opera or Firefox browser it takes FOREVER and the results are so dodgy. The last speed test at my (very) high-end router shows a download speed of 877.54Mbps and an upload speed of......0Mbps (yep, zero, a big fat zero)! How can that be, Buddy? Hey, Buddy? You're suppose to be everyone's buddy.

I'm going back to Superloop as soon as possible and give this Aussie battler (courtesy of Aussie Broadband) a big tick-off for a service that I have not received at 1000/100 plan.

Good luck to those who are having a good experience with Buddy. Hope it lasts forever, sincerely. In my case, I'm avoiding it like the pandemic; yes, I managed to avoid COVID but not Buddy.

BTW, the AI bot on the online chat, is useless.

I left TPG because rates were much better with Buddy Telco, shortly after changing Buddy elevated my plan from a 100/20 Mbs to 500 /50 however I have never seen any speed over 200 Mbs and lately have been getting as slow as 8 Mbs download and often around 25 Mbs, my dial-up 10 years ago was faster! The frustration is that Buddy Technical service… Read more

is all but non existent they work out of WA on WA time which means before 11 AM EST there is not even anyone at their office and at 7PM they're gone again. I invested in the fastest newest router to go with the NBN HFC connection, laptop is new and hi spec, and I'm less than 2 meters from the router - what else can be done on my part? The attractive price they offer means nothing when you cant do business on the weekend because the connection is too slow to load the online software. NOT a happy Buddy user.

but for a few seconds of not being able to reach the internet for a minute or two the other day, it's been seamless.

Unfortunately, I've now heard that they've sold the service to Tangerine. due to few people taking the service up. Personally, I don't think they've done a stellar job advertising it.

I'm expecting Tangerine to up the price and use overseas support so I will have to move again once they take over in the new year.

Follow-up  · I loved it, it was stable, and there were very few problems but it's being transferred to Tangerine and they don't have Australian support. I didn't hear about it prior to reading about it on Whirlpool recently. I think I was pretty clear in my review, my foremost requirement after price is Australian support. They either don't have Aussie support on weekends or they had frequent outages etc

This NBN Service Provider was a budget friendlier offshoot of Aussie Broadband before being recently sold to Tangerine in mid 2025. I signed up in July 2025 to try it out since Aussie Broadband had raised prices and my bonus rates had ended. I'm on NBN HFC. I had been reading forums about the cutover and that some customers initially had issues… Read more

if they were originally Aussie Broadband customers and were on staying on the same NBN speed tier. With this foresight, I switched my NBN speed tier to a different one before the cutover.

The cutover was very smooth and happened as planned overnight on the 30st of June 2025. By the morning of the 1st of July 2025. My service was online and active.

I'm writing this review now after having been with them for 4 months. I still have no complaints or concerns. The lack of phone support isn't a big issue like it was before, as we now have 4G/5G mobile internet backup in the event of a disruption to log support cases. Their human support by chat is responsive during weekdays. But it would help other customers if Buddy Telco were more upfront that their support channel is not staffed on weekends. I haven't had to contact them to report an outage on a weekend yet.

Being powered on Aussie Broadband's network infrastructure, they are very good at keeping things in order and providing plenty of notice for planned/unplanned outages.

CG-NAT is not a roadblock to using Buddy Telco as my NBN ISP. I access my devices over IPv6, and Buddy Telco provides a generous /48 prefix subnet which stays fixed.

Just about the easiest bit of tech stuff I have ever done! Back in March I decided it was time to switch over from our old internet provider (the one we have had ever since we have had internet) and after doing some research, decided to give Buddy a crack. Along with the Buddy NBN subscription, I ordered 2 x eero mesh routers to replace the old… Read more ·  1

legacy modem/router. These surprised me by arriving in a couple of days. I disconnected the old box, plugged these in, followed the instructions provided and, within a very short time, had everything in the house connected and working - phones, tablets, TV, solar inverter and cameras. I then called Buddy and, while we chatted on the phone, they switched me over from the old provider and everything was up and running. It has been faultless since - only 3 months so far, but all the signs are great. Performace is fine. You need to be aware of their available support times etc., and be comfortable signing up amd doing things online, but if you are OK with that, I recommend you give Buddy a try.

Buddy Telco Review: A Masterclass in Incompetence ★☆☆☆☆ (Zero stars if I could) I joined Buddy Telco expecting reliable internet and basic customer service. What I got instead was so many days of wasted time, stress, and radio silence. My internet never worked—not even once. I spent hours on chat with a rep named Ben, jumping through every hoop… Read more

he suggested. We changed settings, tried multiple cables, swapped NBN boxes, and still—no internet light. After all of that, NBN themselves suggested steps to resolve the issue… and Ben outright refused to follow their instructions. You read that right: he ignored the experts and chose to “reject their resolution” just to “keep their foot in the door.” Whose door? Certainly not mine.

He scheduled a technician. I was told someone was coming. But no one came. And how did I find that out? Not from Buddy Telco. I had to chase them for confirmation—only to be told the appointment had been rejected and no one thought to notify me.

In the end, after being left without internet for days and unable to work, I had to return to my former provider just to get reconnected.

And now, insult to injury: Buddy Telco has sent me a cancellation bill… for a service they never activated. They couldn't even connect me, but they still want to charge me for leaving?

Buddy Telco isn’t just incompetent. They’re dishonest, disorganized, and reckless. If you're considering joining them—don’t. Unless you enjoy stress, delays, and being billed for nothing.

Final verdict: Stay far, far away. Buddy Telco lost a customer—permanently.

Buddy Telco I love you please never change. I switched from Buddy to save a little money as another provider had a limited time offer. I regretted it so much and switched back to buddy. Customer service is unmatched and the internet speed is relatively consistent compared to other providers. Today I had Ben from customer support and Yazid from technical support help me out and both were amazing. I love you Buddy Telco. Show details

In recent years I have moved from one NBN provider to another principally due to cost. Some have been good while others e.g. Tangerine have been dreadful particularly when it comes to moving. intending to move but my electricity supplier put together a package which included NBN. My Buddy account had just rolled over by a couple of days when the change took place so I was legally required to pay another month. However when I queried the charge Buddy credited the amount without hassle. During the period I was with Buddy I never had a service issue nor a problem speaking to someone and I can unequivocally say that should my new service not work out I would return to Buddy at the drop of a hat. Congratulations Buddy you indeed stand out in what is a rough and tumble internet provider market.

response each time you write something new 3) They were knowledge about their products, the NBN and the internet! I asked a question about CGNAT and they answered quickly and precisely. They knew what I was talking about. 4) The team seem to be as claimed, Australian from the way they communicate.

Many others who claim to have Aussie support could learn a thing or two. If you wait 10 minutes to start a chat , minutes between each interaction or the staff are not very knowledgeable then it doesn’t matter they are Australian.

I hope buddy keep it up

Overall not happy about the double charge and my bill amount being larger than what agreed upon and increasing every month thus making me leave this company as way to expensive and when I left also received a closure invoice of $50 in which I have never received from any other provider. Don’t get me wrong I would of been happy to pay it if my speeds were adequate and I wasn’t double charged but just feel like I’m throwing money away
