Cadbury Dairy Milk

The recipe changes have rendered this chocolate to inedible. The last big block I bought was horrible beyond measure. I ate a little, spat it out rather than swallowing, and threw the rest of the block away. Cadbury chocolate used to be delicious, it used to be advertised as having “a glass and a half of full cream dairy milk in every 200 gram block”, Now it just tastes of chemical poisons. Ruined!!!

I thought I might buy a plain block of cadbury because it would have less sugar than caramel. It seems that the chocolate recipe changes for the plain block. Why else would the sugar content exceed or match those filled with a sweet goo? a kilo of sugar is a dollar or 2, meaning 180g is approx. $0.20 •Milk powder, $10/kg, $2/180g. •Cocoa is only approx. $25/kilo, meaning approx $5/180g. •Cacao butter can be bought for around $50/kilo, meaning approx. $10/180g.

Obviously there is a cost to make it but also big companies have access to buy things much cheaper than us. Let's add these 4 approx. costs and divide by 4 to keep it at 180g worth. Keep in mind an extra 20g is in the calculation, 20g which was taxed from the block before. $17.20÷4=$4.30.

What is the profit when we consider 20g was stolen and that this is going off local prices, not commercial prices? At LEAST half the block is sugar so we can say that we are paying $4 for 100g of sugar if we pay the full $8.

Hi all, thanks for reducing the size of the blocks and increasing the cost. I was a daily consumer of these products, but now I have successfully weaned myself off the product and no long consume Cadbury at all! I didn't think this was possible, but thanks!! Cadbury chocolate blocks are smaller and dearer and don't taste the same. A total rip off. I used to eat one block of Cadbury's every week when the block was 250 grams. Now has shrunk to a very unsatisfying 180 grams and still increasing in price, so no more. The upside is my waistline is shrinking along with the block size. Show details

340g dairy milk block has increased in price from AUD6 to AUD7 to AUD8 recently. NOW the price has increased to AUD8.50 or AUD9 for 315g. Same size block but noticeably thinner chocolate squares. Outrageous shrinkflation. Show details
