Great and trusted Service, Kind people. Our advise for the fifth star – Using campertravel was very helpful for us, european travelers with not much experience on the vast US RV world. All our questions were answered fast and efficient. Payment were easy and flexible with full security. The support team is very kind and pro. The reason why we don't give a fifth star is basically due to the experience with the rental… Read more

company selected (El Monte). No major problems, but several small ones that bring some frustrations. Again the travel completed as planned and it was an unforgivable experience. But an objective review of rental companies by Campertravel could be a plus for the customer.

Happy Camper – Have used CT twice for a MH hire in the USA and have had no issues with their service and price. Remember that CT are a broker and the actual contract is with the Motorhome Hire Company you select, if you have issues with the vehicle then it is the Hire Company one should tackle. Carefully read the contract to ensure that you understand what you… Read more

are paying for and any extras. We had a number of minor problems but the hire company(EL Monte) had a great call centre and at the end of hire gave us credit for time lost. I must admit we are experienced Motorhome which helps.

Could not be faulted – Great company. I booked a Canada trip through them and then saw loads of poor reviews. Don't be put off. Got a great deal. The RV was fab, just as described. They easily allowed a change to my booking with no quibbles/fees and great communication. Couldn't have gone more smoothly

Hustle! – After we had to cancel our booking 4 day's before drop off, we hat to pay 75% from the entire price (2100$) (anywhere else you only pay 50%!!) We had to pay a deposit of 518.70$, and with the cancellation again 2100$, which makes 2618.70$, the entire rental price was 2636.20$. So I saved 17,50$ with the cancellation? This is just insane!! is rubbish! You are the most expensive, rip-off company in Australia and ruin tourists holidays.

We are so angry about that!

And you don't even answer to our email and if we try to contact you someone says we have to write an email..

You are sooo funny!

Sadly we can't give you a 0- Star, or -10Star rating!!

LIES! NOT trustworthy! Don't be SCAMMED!! – Lies! NOT trustworthy, don't be SCAMMED! I have a multitude of issues with CamperTravel for my NZ trip. 1a. CamperTravel lied about my daily rate ($140 instead of the true $120) and lied about my dropoff date by 3 days to the rental company. They did this to make my total the same price they would charge me ($120x21days=$2,520) same as… Read more

($140x18days). The rental company was confused and I could not get a refund or amend dates. If there is a "minimum rental days", this should be stated UPON rental inquiry, not AFTER the fact. The language in the booking is extremely misleading, stating "there is a 21 day minimum and you could extend your trip with no additional cost." The extended return date was given to the rental company and was not informed by me. The true dates AND rates should have been given to me.

1b. 2% hidden fee if you pay by credit card also not stated with inquiry but AFTER you're locked into the booking.

2. Two weeks prior to my vehicle pickup, I could not amend any dates or location drop off of my vehicle at another location. VERY inflexible.

3. UNPROFESSIONAL. Upon pickup, I had to send them information they ALREADY had when I reserved the vehicle, like my name, phone number, license...didn't you need that PRIOR to my booking?!

4. SHADY, SKETCHY pickup. Since they didn't have an actual pickup location, I was told to just go to the parking lot at the ferry terminal. I'm sorry, but there are hundreds of people at the ferry. Needless to say, an hour later, I found the van.

5. This is not the actual van company, so any inquiry I had, I had to wait sometimes more than 24 hours for a response. For even simple questions, such as- "does this vehicle come with a cooler?", I could not get a straight forward response. I would have to rephrase my question and wait another 24hours.

Please, save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else.

Dishonest! Problems start even before you arrive at Australia – The fact in brief: Camper Travel is charging me AUD 24.6 because they have unilaterally extended my booking period, without my prior consent, to a date and time when pickup is actually not possible. Folks, I haven't even arrived at Down Under yet, and Camper Travel is already ruining my mood. The story in more detail: months in advance, I've… Read more

booked a campervan via Camper Travel for 31 days, for which a hefty deposit was immediately charged. Later on, 3 weeks before the pickup date, I sent an inquiry whether it was possible to extend the booking by 4 days, and pick up the vehicle on a Saturday evening at around 7 pm. Next thing I see is that my credit card is charged with an "extra deposit" of AUD 105.6 for an amendment of the booking that I did not even request for yet (remember: I only asked for info on vehicle availability and costs). Three days after that, Camper Travel informs me that, although an extra deposit had already been charged, pickup was absolutely not possible, not even for extra charge, at the date and time that I clearly indicated in my inquiry (i.e. Sat evening). So, finally, we agreed that the rental period would be extended by 3 days, pickup on Sunday morning (AUD 80 after hours fee applies). However, Camper Travel decided that AUD 26.4 of the deposit already charged to my account was "non-refundable", meaning that they increased the final bill by this amount, simply because they made an amendment that I had not given my consent to, and that also turned out as not feasible.

This is still before my arrival at Australia - so what can I expect later on? And don't get me wrong: it's not about the money, since AUD 26.4 is really peanuts compared to our total rental charge of about AUD 4900 (I wonder, though, what additional costs may still turn up unexpectedly and unjustified)... I just can't understand what makes an agent try to cheat the clients in such a pitiful, dishonest manner, making up all kinds of unfounded excuses for charging a few dozens of bucks more? Please avoid Camper Travel if you can.

Dishonest Company - Avoid at all costs – Booked and agreed a 9am pick up, which they then refused to honour. Agreed to pay an extra day to guarantee the 9:00 am pick up. Then when the booking confirmation came through it was for a different address than the one requested - over 40 miles away. I am now waiting for them to see if they refund my deposit or whether I have to complain via the credit card company to get it.

They're Just An Agent – I've read through these reviews and been a bit surprised. Camper Travel don't OWN the vehicles, they are an agent of the owners - much like a traditional travel agent doesn't own the airline they book you on. If a travel agent offers you a number of flight options to another country and you pick China Southern and their food and service suck and… Read more

they lose your baggage, you might inform the travel agent of the crap service but you can't blame them for China Southern being crap. It's not within their control. And of the flights that were offered to you, you picked the one that suited your style and budget and you were meant to read the terms and conditions of the ticket purchase.

Now if Camper Travel offer you a price booking guarantee and then choke when you can come back with a better offer elsewhere, blame Camper Travel. But if the campervan breaks down or the insurance policy of the campervan company doesn't cover damage you do even though you paid the bond, it is not within control of Camper Travel. Your service provider is the campervan rental company, not the agent.

I am not affiliated with Camper Travel, but I have been an agent in the past and I know what it is like to pummelled by bad reviews when nothing that happen can be controlled by us. Post a negative review about the campervan hire company, not the agent. They are there to present you with options, you have to be responsible for the purchase you make.

Expensive when hidden extras are taken into account – We used Camper Travel for 2 separate sections of our 'across the continent' road trip. In both cases we were given Britz vans. My first gripe is the 'hidden' extras like chairs, table, awning, insurance, one-way, credit card charges etc. It really bumps up the total cost. Worse still is the bond/guarantee, a whopping A$ 5k to 7.5k is taken off… Read more

your credit card. Yes, it is restored if no damage, but those using foreign credit cards suffer an exchange hit meaning you get far less than you deposited. Finally, I was hit by a A$ 320 charge for a cracked windscreen on the first van. I would have thought THL (parent of Britz, Mighty, Maui) could get 'all risk' cover from their insurers instead of levying yet another charge on their customers. Campervans are good fun and bring flexibility, but are expensive way of traveling given the above practices.

Terrible Service - Do Not Use Them – I book through them a 4wd from company Drive Beyond. I was driving with my family from Broome in Theory to Kimberleys. 5000 dollars bond for almost 4 weeks because the owner was in China and nobody in the company was authorize to refund. The Camper Travel were hopeless and booking was done through them, I spent 4 weeks to try to get my bond back. I asked at least for the hotel refund and 3 days of no driving and they rejected it with excuses. I tried to get my refund through fairwork consumer association, they told me I had a legitimate case, they chased them. Still no refund! Very very unprofessional.

Great experience! – I was a bit hesitant at first, given the stories you hear of vehicle roll overs, damage costs people incur but came to the conclusion that these people were pushing their limits. Our vehicle was ready on time and we were given a detailed tour of the camper.

Staff were courteous and helpfull. When you're booking your vehicle make sure you read their terms and conditions clearly and like me, you'll have no issues. Seamless and easy.

These guys know their business so ask them for advice.

Great experience. Glad we hired it! Will be doing it again for sure without hesitation.

Disgraceful Vehicle & Service – shockingly bad! Don't use them... they will cheat you – I hired a camper with camper travel 6 weeks before I needed it for a fund raising event. Will never use this company again: untrustworthy and unreliable.

Great service, great holiday! – We booked a four wheel drive camper to travel around Tasmania for three weeks. Worst experience of my life – We booked a 5 person campervan for a week, however 10 days is the minimum so we paid for that at over $1100, and I emailed to notify the dates we required the van for. There seems to be no communication between the call centre that responds to emails and calls overseas and the actual rental dispatch centres. Arrived on the day and time that I… Read more

had notified via email a month earlier, and found a dusty, messy office unlocked and empty with the keys for all the vans just sitting on the counter.

Any one could walk in and steal all the vans at any time.

In short we waited 3 hours to finally get our van which was not even ready and had low oil in the engine. The actual manager of the centre was not there because of this miscommunication she yelled and blamed us for not arriving the day we originally booked for at the 10 days despite me explaining I had emailed a month earlier with our actual dates.

The mechanic finally arrived and had no idea how to use the actual system to check us in, so a very nice man from the business next door came in to help us and luckily had an understanding of the system, from my understanding this was not the first time he had to do this!

We finally got on the road (catching all the arvo traffic we hoped to miss) and got to our campsite about 90 mins away only to find our two person tent which was supplied with the three sleeper van was missing the poles! I rang yet again and was rudely informed to go buy one and they will sort it out later, and then hung up on mid call, so we had to drive to the next town and waste part of our day getting a tent. About a week after we returned home I rang and discovered, the refund had been sent to my friends card instead of mine for the tent and when I rang to enquire I was told it was because of security as he had swiped his card for the deposit, which I understand, however the way I was spoken to left me feeling upset and belittled.

95% of the people I spoke to over my holiday at camper travel were rude, arrogant and had no concept of customer relations. All they seemed capable of doing was blaming me, the customer! even though I had done nothing wrong. It is not even an exaggeration when I say this is the worst service experience of my life. I would never use them again ever, to sum up my experience I felt completely shocked at the rudeness, state of the actual campervans, cleanliness of the staff and offices and disappointed that this experience completely ruined my holiday and kept me stressed and upset for most of it.

Its always someone else's fault, if it wasn't my fault it was the fact they sublet their bookings out to the Philippines.

oh and the pillows supplied were damp and had dead moths on them to top it off! Nothing. Absolutely Nothing. Dirty old vans, poor customer service, rudeness, lack of communication, over priced- we met people with much newer, larger cleaner vans for less than we paid! the list goes on.

Be very careful!! – I recently booked a camper van for a special event 9 months in advance. When I was unable to get tickets because it sold out in minutes, I cancelled the camper van with a full 6 months notice, only to be told I would forfeit the whole $450 deposit with no refund!. I was sent to an obscure section of the website to review their official policy.… Read more

During the booking, on the official quote or conversations I had with staff prior to paying, there was no mention of this policy whatsoever - which is misleading, unfair and unethical.

The company was quite rude when challenged and has refused any reasonable negotiations. I don;t mind paying to cover admin costs but this is completely unreasonable.

They put profit before customer service so I would recommend going directly to the hire company's rather than risk this company. good rates (at face value....) poor attitute towards customer satisfaction, totally profit driven and inflexible
