 AI reviews summary

Carma is highly regarded by most users for providing a streamlined, professional, and secure alternative to traditional dealerships and private sales. Sellers frequently highlight competitive valuations that exceed trade-in offers, immediate Osko payments, and thoughtful touches like complimentary Uber rides home. However, a segment of users reported significant dissatisfaction regarding price reductions during physical inspections and inconsistent vehicle quality for buyers.

Pros
Efficient Transaction Process: Users consistently praise the speed of the service, with many sales and purchases being finalised within hours or a few days.
Competitive Valuations: Sellers frequently report receiving offers significantly higher than dealership trade-in quotes, often bridging the gap toward private sale prices.
Secure and Transparent Payments: The use of instant bank transfers (Osko) during the handover provides users with immediate financial security and peace of mind.
Exceptional Customer Service: Staff members are repeatedly described as professional, non-pushy, and helpful, with specific praise for the seamless delivery and collection services.
Cons
Inspection Price Reductions: Multiple sellers expressed frustration when "guaranteed" online offers were reduced during physical inspections due to minor cosmetic wear or model year discrepancies.
Vehicle Condition Discrepancies: Some buyers reported receiving cars with undocumented damage, poor cleanliness, or mechanical issues (such as dead batteries or worn tyres) despite the "certified" inspection.
Inconsistent Post-Sale Support: A few users noted a sharp decline in communication quality and urgency once a payment was made, particularly when resolving warranty or refund claims.
Finance Transparency: Concerns were raised regarding the lack of itemised cost breakdowns and loan documentation prior to signing a contract of sale.
Verdict

Carma is an excellent choice for those seeking a fast, low-stress way to sell a vehicle for a fair market price without the hassle of private listings. While the buying process offers high convenience and a 7-day return policy, purchasers should remain diligent by conducting their own mechanical inspections and thoroughly verifying vehicle history.

Absolutely appalled with Carma. What an absolute joke of a valuation process. I submitted my Range Rover Velar — a 2020 luxury SUV in excellent condition — through their online questionnaire and photos. Their own assessment rated the car as GOOD in every single category: No warning lights No mechanical issues No exterior damage No interior damage… Read more

No tyre issues No modifications No finance owing

The ONLY thing flagged was missing a couple of services. That’s it.

And for that, Carma had the audacity to offer me $25,300 for a vehicle with a Carsales market value of $53,000. More than 50% haircut for missing a couple of services? That is not just unreasonable — it’s predatory.

Carma loudly advertises that they “don’t lowball.” Based on my experience, that claim is blatantly false. Their offer wasn’t a lowball — it was an insult. It’s clear their valuation system is nothing more than an aggressive algorithm designed to rip off sellers, completely ignoring the actual condition of the car.

This was a total waste of time and one of the most disrespectful selling experiences I’ve ever had. If you value your car or your time, avoid Carma. Their offers are misleading, offensive, and nowhere near market reality.

Carma Team, thank you! I have never had such a positive and seamless car buying experience! process. I am so proud of Carma for creating such an outstanding business model and service. Particularly as a female, dealing with car dealers can be quite stressful, there was none of this stress at anytime during my Carma buying experience. I am so so happy with my car (2015 Mazda CX3), it was as described and in excellent condition. Thank you again Carma!

Honestly one of the easiest and most stress-free experiences I’ve had buying a car. Everything was laid out so clearly step-by-step, I always knew exactly what to do and what was happening next. No confusion, no pressure — just smooth the whole way through. Customer service was incredible too. Super friendly, helpful, and actually made the experience enjoyable. Absolutely love my new car and would 100% recommend to anyone thinking about it. Show reply

Very good website to navigate. Price offered was very good in comparison with other offers. Providing preliminary information online was easy and on day of the sale documents required was clearly explained. The transfer process went smoothly and money transfer instantaneous. This is a reputable company which can be highly recommended. Show reply

Sold my car through Carma yesterday and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. From the first call to the handover, the entire process took just a couple of hours. assessment and handover, was excellent – professional, clear and great to deal with. The fact they also organised an Uber home was a brilliant touch. Very highly recommended.

By contrast, I also tried selling through Carsales.com.au and found it expensive and ineffective – in my experience, it was actually worse than using Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree. I won’t be using them again or recommending them based on this experience.

I hope whoever buys our car is as happy with her as we were.

Thanks Carma.

I found Carma to be very helpful, efficient, friendly, contactable and fair with their quote. Daniel did a quick assessment of my car and they had the agreed money in my bank account, within the hour. He even booked and paid for an Uber to take me home. I would certainly get them to give you a value, as there quote was considerably more than trade in offers I’d received. Peter Show reply

Carma was quick and very efficient. I sold my 2013 Golf in no time. I was getting nowhere on Carsales, although I was probably asking for too much on an 11 year old car. I think the valuation by Carma was much more realistic. I was surprised that the car would be sold on the day I went to have it inspected. They were transparent in their valuation… Read more ·  1

I sold my RAV4 through Carma. Got a competitive offer ($7500 more than what Toyota offered for a "instant valuation"). Very simple process, straight forward. No fuss. Money transferred while I waited and they paid for an uber to get me home. Show reply

Follow-up  · No regrets. They sold my car in about 3 weeks and made a $4k premium, but I noticed they'd fixed scuffed rims and detailed it well and advertised it all over the place. I still feel like I got a reasonable deal. On the day it took about an hour. They checked service history, walked around the car and checked inside and out. They didn't actually… Read more

Bought a 2023 model-year Subaru Outback and have rued the day ever since. Caveat-Emptor ran through my mind the following day as the battery failed and could not be revived causing the car to become stranded and insecure, thankfully on the driveway:… Read more

All that had lead to the failure was setting up the personal info into the damned system: phone, driver preferences, basics! This required the ignition to be on, but no engine running. A/C off windows down, hot day...well, dear punters, the car was dead. I managed to buy a new battery and fitted it, and all was good, but the taint was there... In the days that followed, I noted defects on the body- minor blemishes that had not been recorded in the images of the vehicle on the rotunda. I also noted the state of the engine bay- leaf litter and other organic debris. after a week or so, I received a survey prompt and delivered my verdict only to received a limp wristed response from someone up the chain...incredulity and slithery charm- "this can not be, sir...the battery was perfect when it was collected...", yes, the car was running, but the battery was, according to research at end of life despite the Carma protestations that a stop-start battery is good for many years...give me strength, they're as bad as real estate agents in shiny suits and ready smiles. I was a reminded of the gentleman outfitters: "its a good fit Sir, fits like a glove... sticks out in five places! Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Follow-up  · New battery was fine. Blemishes were hard to polish out and most certainly not superficial. Engine bay looked 32 months old and cleaned up nicely with a proper clean- not hard to do.

I purchased a car through Carma, and was initially nervous about a used car dealership but was drawn in by the brand's promise of quality assurance, full reconditioning, and transparent disclosure of imperfections. If you're considering Carma, I'd strongly advise against doing so. The premium you pay is meant to cover exactly this kind of quality… Read more

assurance, and in my experience it hasn't. Please do yourself a favour and look at all of the one star reviews here. A lot of people have had the same experience unfortunately.

After taking delivery, I paid out of pocket for an independent mechanic inspection. It identified a non-functioning wiper blade (not roadworthy), front tyres with barely roadworthy tread, and other imperfections not disclosed in the listing.

I've raised these issues directly with the team and have had to follow up multiple times, receiving basically a repeated email response and 'we understand this is frustrating'. Several issues that should have been flagged before sale are now being treated as something I need to argue my way through, including being told tyres on their way out don't need to be disclosed because they technically passed a rego check. I am incredibly disappointed and would not recommend.

I originally approached Carma in March-2026, at which point I was quoted 9,750. Three months later I was quoted $9k in June-2026. A reduction of $750 in 3 months to what can only to be attributed to odometer increade of ~2,000km. Upon on inspection, I was quoted $4,951. The inspection was booked for 12.30pm, I was quoted a total inspection time… Read more

60-90 mins. The was only looked at 2hrs past the inspection booking time at 2.30pm. Whilst the gentleman who served me was respectful and polite, the entire ordeal was a waste of my time. I was quoted a price that is similar to the private seller market, only to be low-balled by $4k. The reason for low-balling was sited as the roof needing a new coat of paint and the car having been late for servicing during the covid years and in 2016 (during the tenure of the first owner). Carma has wasted my time significantly.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Offer you a good price to suck you in and when you get it valued low ball you on the most pettiest items. Car was in beautiful condition. I sold the car to a more professional wholesaler who never questioned any of the so called issues. The 1500 dollars you tried to low ball me on cost your company over 100k in sales. I'll be telling all my friends never to go near carma.
