Very bad customer experience – It's hilarious how they advertise offering more than the dealer, but when I got their offer, it was the lowest! And when I mentioned the dealer's quote, the guy just hung up the phone. Too funny

Scare the customers away car site. What a joke! – Why do I have to pay government charges? Why aren’t they included in the car price? Your cars are ridiculous prices for so many kilometres? Such a scam site. I want to buy a car but not this way. I’m going to a better decent site that doesn’t say excluding government charges.

Can't even get engine configurations right – It doesn't take a genius to know that Volvo 3.2 Petrol in XC70 and 90 isn't a V6. You're a car site. I could pick the engine size and power output on anything without needing to refer to your website. So clap clap clap. It's just Disappointing...doing internet write ups for used cars...at least I could pick when they had the wrong specs for the car given to me. Haha, better photos too... Show details

Contacted by scammers only (RAAF, divorce story and previous buyer's lack of funds) – So far, I have been contacted by 2 scammers. Yet, a third post was legitimate (but the owner sold it to someone else). Unfortunately, Carsguide encourages such practices, because the only way to contact the seller is by email. You must provide your name, email and phone to get a reply from the user. Common fake stories repeated all the time: 1-… Read more

Royal Australian Air Force with deployment coming up soon. 2- A lady who was awarded the car as a settlement to her divorce, so she wants to get rid of it at low price. 3- The buyer is in Tasmania and will ship the car to you. There is an option to report fake ads to the site, but there are so many of them, it is virtually impossible to report all.

Scammers central!! Do not use – I messaged three different sellers all sent me the same email saying they’re “moving to New Zealand & will send me the car for free. Don’t use this program. I’ve reported the listings as spam but I don’t think Carsguide actually does anything about it. Show details

Yet another RAAF Scam off this site – I was looking for a replacement car for my son and came across the Cars guide site powered by Auto trader. This morning, I received an email about the car selling a divorce story. I didn't red flag it at first, but after responding to the email with a slightly lower offer, I did. I received an email purportedly from Auto Trader requesting my… Read more

licence back and front, as well as my Medicare back and front. Four alarm bells went off: first, the email was addressed to the wrong person, second, the email mentioned an Elantra when I was looking at a Mazda 3, and finally, the email mentioned an Elantra when I was looking at a Mazda 3. Third, there is no reason for me to provide those credentials just to look at a car. After that, I began to think critically about the email with slightly broken English, a divorce story (very poor negotiation information tactic). So I looked at the email domain from which the auto trader email was sent, and it was amusing. That was enough for me to leave. But, to be honest, I was initially duped because I assumed CarsGuide was legitimate. I was completely wrong; I can't even report a suspicious ad on their website. I went to the trouble and expense of getting a report on the car, and it came up as legitimate on the report, with the plates matching the car for sale and the rego details, indicating that some research had been done on it.

Carsguide had same story of military personnel deployment, ARRF lady getting divorced lol. Below is my story:

Sorry for taking so long to reply, I've been messed around by one previous buyer for lack of funds. Right now I am located in WA, because our squad it's doing some special training, I work for the Department of Defence. I am providing Deployment Training (Desert Training). If you are still interested in buying my car, I’m asking $6,000 Negotiable (I’ve lowered the price because I’m running out of time). I have to sell the car as fast as I can because in three weeks I will be deployed to New Zealand and I’ll stay there for a while. I intend to buy a new one when I get back home. I also need to know if you have the cash to buy the car, because there are a lot of interested buyers. The car is here with me at the military base but you don’t have to worry about the distance I can bring the car to you on my expenses, so if you're interested, let me know. Details: Registration#: YSD641, 82,760 Km’s. Rego until 06/2022. Road Worthy (RWC) provided. Just had it serviced. Mechanically A1 You’ll love the car, I can guarantee you that!

He recommend to use "Automobile Escrow Trader guide" as 3 rd party, apparently owned by him. Once you make Escrow account at initial time, you can view your status. Then Seller will tell you to click RED link and deposit money. ( I was browsing around, but became suspiciuos once I can not see my own detail). Checked in few hours later, RED click is gone. Its ABN actually exist, but different bussines name. So I was so close to lose my money. I would have been depressed if I lost money. I will never buy anything from private online seller again if I can not touch it.

My advise is , just don't deal with them. these scammer need big smack in their bum including his mum.

Sold my car so easy – It was my first time to sell my car on private market. I placed ad one week before Christmas but didn’t have much enquiry until second week of January. Then within two weeks after holiday season it is sold. Making ad was very easy with guides and templates. Getting and replying emails was easy too. Strongly recommend to everyone.

Tips for interstate buyers – At handover of vehicle: - photo of odometer displaying km - condition report acceoted by transporter - presence of spare tyre & replacement tools During negotiating of price is the registration included or does the vehicle have to be delicenced prior to export. Have insurance in place to cover vehicle in transit. Read transporters exclusion clauses - seek legal advice as many of them would not stand up in court.

Good – This internet shop/guide is great if you are looking for any new or used car or any other vehicle. They have a great range all of the time and it also helps you to get an idea on how much you should be paying for your new or used car that you are buying. This guide also gives you plenty of information on what you should be looking for when you buy… Read more

Would give zero stars if I could – Do not trust this website it is full of scammers! my parents bought a mitsubishi lancer off carsguide which had around 30,000km for $9,500 and the seller claimed to be leaving for the army and had showed identification (which we found out was stolen). He claimed that he would send the car over to Queensland free of charge and would cover the costs… Read more

of sending it back if we were not happy with it and lowered the price to $8,500 because he was “desperate to get rid of it before he left” which was clearly too good to be true. The listing is still up after my parents got scammed $8,500 and have still not gotten their money back. They have reported it serval times so beware of a black 2013 mitsubishi lancer with 30,734k for $9,500.

Beware Cars guide is rampant with scams – Beware people of Cars guide. If I can give minus zero that would be understatement. How can cars guide allow these kind of scammers go unchecked If I didn't scrutinise the email sent out to me and have been aware of the widespread relentless scammers, I would have fallen victim to this elaborate scam and the worse thing there is no option to… Read more

This website is full of scammers – I used this website to search for a used car and all I get are scammers with exactly the same modus operandi; RAAF service person in a different state to the one advertised that urgently need to sell at a bargain price because of deployment. They can deliver the car free of charge; the car is always newer than the one advertised; and there is a short time limit. DON’T USE THIS SITE unless you want to fall victim to scams

Disgusted! Only contacted by scammers!!!! – Since posting my ad to sell the car I have only been contacted by scammers!! Army corporals stuck on a boat asking me for a pay pal account and to pay their freight. I’m disgusted. So disappointed.

Fake Advertisers! – This site isn't worth the effort for potential car buyers. An excessive amount of false information allowed by Carsguide, for instance, a 2009 Hyundai Getz S offered sale of $6,995 an obvious hatchback but vehicle displayed is a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV 4x4 and looks to be more like a 2015 model. False information hasn't changed in this industry!

Some very dodgy sellers – I'm sure there are legitimate ads on this site, but beware of the many scams. Sellers who tell you that they got the car in a divorce settlement (very common) and the year of the car differing between heading and description. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Scammers paradise! Do Not Trust This Site! – Only communication was via email. This is the worst site! Do not buy from a private seller only trust the car yards as you can actually go in person & actually speak with a trustworthy salesman. Scammer – I saw a advertisement of honda jazz 2017 model, which was coming under 5k so I thought why not? later when I contact them they said I had to deposit money in ebay trust account( which actually doesn't exist), and they said they are in tasmania with RAAF and will send car through ebay. Just to raise a voice that there are many such scams around you so be careful before making payment.

Suggestion of how to deal with scammers on this site – These people are unbelievable! I was also interested in a car advertised on this site and also on some of their associated, sister sites. scammers but they are. They take money from them for advertising. I have had my time wasted so I thought they appreciate some of their own medicine. I replied to cars they advertised hundreds of times with the same interest email. Cars that I did that to started disappearing from the site. Surprise, surprise! If everyone does this, maybe Carsguide.com.au might wake up and listen to honest people who just want to buy a car.
