5 Maria C.  · They have been absolutely fantastic with my health needs. The service is phenomenal and Julie is wonderful too.
1 CSK  · Poor online experience – Expensive. Poor website design. The old website was easier to navigate.
1 Rizbana S.  · Terrible – There is nothing to claim. You can never claim anything.
5 Kris  · Very Good – The policy was easy to setup and was very good value for money. We dont pay anything out of pocket for general dental.

Trying to deal with this health fund is a joke. You ring them as instructed only to be put through to people who obviously have no training or can’t be bothered to resolve simple issues. You are shut down almost immediately and told to send them an email and waste valuable time trying to get a simple matter rectified. It drags over days and days and frustration builds up. Beyond terrible customer service! Show details

On paper CBHS offered slightly better value than my Westfund cover, and had a promotion going, so I switched. What a mistake. Every interaction with CBHS, from signing up to claiming, has been a mess. I'm going back to Westfund. Show details

Heartbreaking Denial for our 2-Year-Old's Surgery – *I'm pleased to share that the issue has now been resolved, and my daughter’s cover has been approved. I've updated my review from 1 star to 4 stars. While the situation remained extremely stressful and warranted Ombudsman intervention, the final outcome was favourable. Appreciate the eventual resolution. Thank you.* Our family, with a 50-year… Read more ·  4

history of membership, is dismayed by CBHS's recent decision to label our 2-year-old daughter's condition as pre-existing. Despite providing a comprehensive timeline, the denial persists, leaving us in a distressing predicament.

This perplexing decision hinges on a specialist's vague statement of "around 6 months or so," overlooking the GP's notes that clearly indicate symptoms started two months after joining the fund. Our daughter urgently needs tonsils and adenoid removal, and this denial is heartbreaking. Had we thought that our daughter’s condition was pre-existing, we would have had her reviewed under the public system and placed on the urgent public waitlist.

Consider this review a cautionary tale for others navigating healthcare decisions with CBHS. A one-star rating reflects the profound impact of a decision that has left our long-standing family membership unsettled.

Best health insurance on NSW – CBHS is one of the top health insurance in extras etc on dental issue only they , in many ways , you need to have been a staff of the bank sometime in the past to be acceptable, very competitive Insurace? Show details ·  1

What a poor company with little to no benefits. I, and now my family have had cover for approx 20 years and would hate no know how much I have ‘donated’ to them in this time vs what they have actually covered. Let down by them again today finding out that it won’t be worth claiming for my daughters upcoming surgery and hospital visit. And yet they are permitted to increase their premiums whenever they feel like it. Absolute grubs!! Show details

Very disappointing - Claims manager ([Name Removed]) with no empathy and compassion, almost like a robot! I have been with the CBHS health fund for over 20 years, paying an estimated $100K in private health insurance fees. My recent claim for a knee brace, costing $63 was denied, needing a referral letter from the doctor. My knee has since… Read more

I am completely shocked and disappointed with CBHS. They are imposing unlawful conditions to cancel my health insurance policy, specifically demanding that I provide my personal outbound flight ticket to prove I moved abroad before they will process the cancellation. I do not consent to sharing my flight ticket — cancellation is my right. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in CBHS.

Horrible and convoluted claims system even for simple things. Website is a shambles. Speak to different customer service reps and get completely different answers. Lack of consistency. Be VERY careful with this Health fund. They sell private health insurance saying that Accommodation for overnight, same day and intensive care for private or shared room in agreement private and public hospitals is covered. But then, when you need it they say "we will cover your accommodation and theatre fees in a public hospital as a private… Read more

patient in a shared room". This discrepancy is deeply concerning, unethical and misleading people. The policy was sold to me with the assurance that private hospital cover was included. However, when I now need to rely on that coverage, I’m being told that I must pay out of pocket. This is misleading and unethical. I will do everything I can to make sure this doesn't happen again with anyone else.

Like most insurance companies, they'll find any loophole they can to not pay or just have stupid rules that make things unnecessarily hard. Eg one of the testimonials mentions claiming for a breast pump. Turns out you need a written referral to claim. No one's going to the GP for that. If I knew earlier I would've got my OB to write one. I also… Read more

added my newborn to my policy and the monthly payment literally doubled! You'd think you'd get a few years at a cheaper rate considering she's not getting glasses or dental visits etc yet. I've had other issues with them in the past, I just need to find the time to research other providers to leave.

CBHS lets my family down – After more than 20 years with CBHS our eldest adult child is now paying their own health fund. At the time it was confusing but we both rang for their advice on what would be the best one for him at his current age. My son then applied online after we received this advice. CBHS called to confirm this with him that his is what he wanted and based… Read more

on the advice we were given, he agreed. Now two years later when he does need an eye operation we find out he's not covered. I asked CBHS to consider what we used to claim for optical for him in the years of loyalty we’ve been and we are paying the highest of their health insurance coverage and if they could look at things holistically, we were told no twice as they will only base on his call from them but the call that we made for advice was not considered. It’s confusing enough for young adults when picking health funds and that’s why we go for advice. No one knows at his age when exploring health insurances what is exactly right for them and what he needs to think he needs to predict at this age of 25. So he’s been paying a health insurance fee for two years and now he’s paying for his own eye operation. It’s such a waste of money for him. Now we are left looking at who is a better health provider that provides good advice and considers the loyalty of long-term customers

Poor service, difficult processes for extras benefits to be paid, poor member experience – After 32 years and yet again having my claims for extras benefits declined upfront as per usual with this health fund and then being given a laundry list of things to go back and get to support the claim from the pharmacist and GP. Less benefits to members for higher premiums - Check out the 2024 Annual Report results – I worked for this health fund more than 20 years ago as its head of finance in Parramatta. Back then its purpose was to provide its ex-CBA employee members the maximum refund on medical expenses. Now as a member I review their 2024 Annual Report and am disgusted with its greedy profit motive to fund its bloated overpaid managers. What a… Read more

disgraceful health fund?

The Annual Report figures don't lie: Net Profit increased from $17.2m in FY23 to $50.7m in FY24 (+293%) on just a 6% increase in member revenue. This means lower payouts to members for health expenses. Cash and Investments hoarded by this fund grew from $421m in FY23 to $451m in FY24. $30m of extra cash hoarded from its members. Director's & managers remuneration increased from $3.9m in FY23 to $5.3m in FY24. This is an extra $1.42m or 36% increase over one year. Where is their sense of purpose to benefit members when it seeks to make a profit, hoards cash in investments and gives its senior fat cat managers huge pay increases. If you have any sense like me you will leave this fund and find one that offers better value for money instead of the "CBHS profit motive business" living it up on your premium payments. What a rort?

Uncaring health fund all about profit – After 20+ years of cover with CBHS they decided (using some secret random criteria that we were not allowed to know) that my 18 year old son who has ADHD and a mild intellectual disability (and has an NDIS plan) was an independent adult who could work full time and should have his own private health cover policy. No Positive Experiences over 20+ years – We have not had a positive interaction with CBHS for over 20 years because staff can't do their jobs right. Even simple things like properly applying a new policy, ordering a card, or putting through a claim goes wrong with them. Most recently CBHS knocked back an optical replacement glasses frames claim because the proof they require is an… Read more

optometrist confirming in writing that prescription lenses have been inserted into the glasses frames; a simple receipt is not enough.

A shop attendant from OPSM inserted the lenses for us after we bought the frames from them and from my partner's claims history they can see he has had prescription glasses for over 10 years (including the purchase of the same pair of frames that were broken) so it's not like we're rorting the system to accrue frames. Absolutely wild and discriminatory as glasses wearers can order frames online and input their lenses themselves.

I'll be moving health funds after this as this is the last straw. We pay so much for such poor coverage and service; they can't even give us seperate logins because their archaic system doesn't allow contact details for more than one party.

Long time Customer - Not worth it, bad service and bad plans – I have been a long time customer with CBHS, and now the first time I need to actually come in for a same day in and same day out (total 2 hours) procedure to fix a knee meniscal tear and the most CBHS is covering is $76 leaving me to fit the bill for the entire theatre costs, anaesthetics and hospital stay (its a lot). I understand other parts I… Read more

will be paying and such but this part gets me because these portions of the bill are what matters and you would think should be covered!

I get my hospital plan is one of the basic plus ones but for the specific item code to repair a minor issue its completely restricted and I was informed by the customer care representative that I should not have hurt my knee as its not covered?! For the hospital I would still have to pay a $500 excess but it covers nothing from Private health! It will be better for me to not 'claim' anything from CBHS for this procedure and save atleast $500 to put towards all the bill.

I cant even upgrade my plan to a 'better' cover with CBHS without facing renewed waiting times (I would have to wait 12 more months with knee pain) even though I am a long time existing customer. We will be moving our family off this insurance to a better insurer and better cover, not going to waist my money here any longer!

Do not go CBHS, take your time and invest in a better health insurer that genuinely care for its customers and their health!
