Agent name is John Vytrhlik Starting when we started renting the property, we moved in into an obviously uncleaned apartment. There were old food in the cupboard and dust everywhere. This was an obvious sign that apartment was not checked and cleaned. After checking the apartment conditions we took photos to send to John. We have expressed that a… Read more
few lights were not working and there were belongings of the old renters scattered everywhere. We have emailed John asking to be replaced however no answer nor action have been taken. Getting frustrated, we decided to visit the century 21 office in haymarket. This is where we finally met John and told him about these problems which he replied that it will be getting fixed soon.
After a while we just gave up as we did not get any actions done. This type of communication continued though out the year we leased.
After the lease ended, we had enquired about the bond and asking when it will be returned. However John replied saying that there were damages in the property. These damages were prior to us moving in and have been sent and taken photos of. We have the photos of lights not working and us asking for it to be replaced.
This is a very upsetting experience as communication seemed to be ineffective and frustrating. Getting charged on damages we did not do is UNACCEPTABLE. Furthermore, we gave sent these photos to John to show that we did not do these damages but he has decided to not reply.
Why is it every time that there are enquiries that John does not wanna answer he decided to ignore all the emails? Is this how century 21 operates? By ignoreing emails they do not wanna answer to? Or by not owning up to their mistakes? Or is it that because you have so many properties and clients, we are not that important?
This is extremely upsetting and outrageous behavior.

If you're a property owner, I strongly advise steering clear of C21 in particular property manager ([Name Removed]). My experience with her as a property manager was unnecessarily stressful and riddled with frustration. Every month brought a new “urgent” issue—many of which were either minor, exaggerated, or completely unnecessary. It felt like… Read more
problems were being manufactured just to push through maintenance work. This financial year maintanenece espenses were $4070 with a ridiculous request to change the toilets because they were old costing upwards of $3000 which I denied.
[Name Removed] also has a habit of using pressure tactics—implying that not approving certain repairs could put you in breach of your obligations or lead to the tenant withholding rent. This kind of fear-mongering is completely unprofessional and erodes trust fast. Worst of all, when I decided to change agencies, the handover process was made as difficult as possible. There was no cooperation or effort to ensure a smooth transition—just delays and passive-aggressive roadblocks.
Save yourself the headache and choose someone who actually works in your interest, not against it.

Misleading & deceptive conduct - principal at Century 21 Wynnum – This one-star review is for [Name Removed], the principal of Century 21 Wynnum. Please forgive me if this review is long, but I want to explain the full context. I recently bought a small house in Wynnum via [Name Removed] & have been appalled by her conduct. Immediately after settling on the house, I discovered major irreparable damage to the… Read more
dining area floor - damage that [Name Removed] took active steps to conceal from both myself & my building inspector right up until the time of settlement. My only option now is to replace the entire dining area/kitchen floor at a minimum cost of several thousand dollars.
Now, I appreciate that much worse can happen to buyers so I don't want to pretend my experience is up there with the worst - however what distinguishes this case is that it wasn't the vendor who concealed the damage from me, it was Nina herself in her capacity as sales agent.
Let me explain further. The house was owned by interstate investors & had been let as a rental property for years, with Century 21 Wynnum acting as the rental manager. However the tenants vacated the house prior to it being listed for sale & [Name Removed] then arranged for it to be "staged" using hired furniture. I'm attaching a photo of the dining area as it was presented in the online sales listing & during the open house inspections. As you can see, there’s a large black mat on the floor next to the kitchen bench & two bar stools on top of the mat. And guess what the mat was concealing - damage to the entire area of flooring underneath.
I’d have hoped my building inspector would pick up on this damage & I've been in contact with him to query this (I was unable to attend the inspection myself as I was out of town, so only [Name Removed] & the inspector were present). The inspector advises me that when he conducts a property inspection, he's not authorised to move items of furniture - he's only authorised to do a visual inspection - & that he was therefore unable to move the bar stools or mat from position during the inspection. Is this 100% correct? I’m not sure. But either way, [Name Removed] knew about the damage & staged the room to conceal it.
I’d also have hoped to pick up on this damage during the pre-settlement inspection. But alas, when I attended the house with [Name Removed] for the pre-settlement inspection, every last remnant of furnishing had been removed EXCEPT for the floor mat. I recall [Name Removed] standing next to the mat while I completed the inspection but I simply didn't clock its significance at that point - I thought she’d merely forgotten to remove it earlier & that I could easily dispose of it after settlement if needed.
And so it was only after settlement, when I returned to the house alone & spotted the mat still sitting there, that I discovered the damage. I’m attaching 3 further photos to show the damage – as you can see, the damage is major & would immediately catch any prospective buyer's attention. If I’d been aware of this damage prior to settlement, I'd definitely have negotiated a reduction in sale price to cover repair costs. But I'm now in the vulnerable position of having already settled. Despite the odds now being stacked against me, I’ve complained directly to [Name Removed] about her conduct & have requested that she contribute towards my floor replacement costs. This, incredibly, has been her response: "Well I’m afraid I can’t help you. I didn't conceal anything. We left that mat there because it belongs to the property. It wasn't ours to take away. We don't know what caused that damage to the floor. That's just how the floor’s always been. That’s what you’ve bought. That flooring is 20 years old anyway".
I don’t think I need to point out just how disingenuous or absurd this response is. It’s shameless even by real estate agent standards.
And hence my one-star review.
I’ve also now lodged a complaint about Nina’s conduct with the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), but from what I can gather, the OFT is something of a toothless tiger when it comes to real estate agents. I’m thus not expecting a positive outcome, but I’ve a least been able to document my experience.

Inaccurate/Incomplete Exit Inspection - Damages Not Resolved/Owner To Now Fix At Own Cost – We entrusted the tenancy management of our home in Tin Can Bay to Century 21, whose head office is located in Gympie, Qld. The tenancy was from July 2021 to May 2022. We attended the property Feb 2022 and found that, without approval, the tenants had screwed items into various parts of the home. We asked that the agent ensure the damage from… Read more
the unapproved works be fixed by exit.
After the exit inspection I received an email from the staff member who conducted the exit inspection stating that 'The property has been left as per Entry Condition Report. (the screw holes above the door have been rectified)'. When we accessed the property, this was clearly not the case, there were numerous areas in the property that were not 'as per the entry condition report', (screw hole damage on front verandah where the tenants had installed solar lanterns, curtain rod brackets screwed into the timberwork and sunroom metal frame were not removed and repaired, a piece of green shade cloth has been screwed into the sunroom metal framing and left there, door closers have been installed at the kitchen and dining room entry doors and a metal handle has been secured to the ensuite and 2 bedroom windows. All of this was done without any permission or communication. The exit condition report had 'as per the entry condition report' on each line of the respective rooms/areas of our home.
The entry condition report gave a true depiction of the condition of our property prior to the commencement of the tenancy, it contained over 400 images, and a full description of each area of the property, however the Exit Condition Report, contained 60 images, was unsigned, did not contain the tenants details, did not record the end of tenancy water meter reading, and did not detail the difference in condition of our home at the end of the tenancy.
As a long time property manager myself I attempted to ignore the issues and move on, however, when you hear on local radio advertisements the Principal and BDM of this office spruiking that the staff have a passion for real estate, give 121% effort, pride themselves on professionalism and attention to detail etc., then this matter had to be brought to the attention of the organisation so a resolution could be achieved.
When I brought this matter to the attention of the Director of Property Management, Century 21 Gympie, her response was - Thank you for your email. I am sorry you haven’t had the best experience. You are absolutely correct in saying that the Exit Condition Report is not up to our very high standards. This particular staff member did not align with our values and is no longer employed by our company. Thank you once again for bringing this to my attention. I really appreciate your feedback and will look into this further on my end.
There has been no formal apology, offer of compensation or assistance to remedy the damages. I advised them that at exit if issues require rectification that the managing agent organizes the repairs at the tenants expense. At no time have I denied the agency access to the property to organize quotes or repairs.
We are left with the costs, disappointment of service and inconvenience to remedy these issues at our own cost and it appears from communications with the Director of Property Management, Century 21 Gympie, they have no intention to resolve this matter.
Landlords enter into a management agreement for a real estate agency to oversee and manage the tenancy, part of this role is that the agency is to ensure that at the end of a tenancy the tenant is responsible to return the property in the same condition as when they moved into the property, allowing for fair wear and tear. All of the issues that I have mentioned above are not 'fair wear & tear'. This has left us in a position where we have had to personally take the time and spend the funds to rectify the damages that the exit inspection staff member failed to record/action. Finally, I have emailed the Principal of Century 21 Gympie in regards to this issue and other concerns. To date, he has not responded. Either he has not received my emails or has decided that the issues I have raised do not warrant a response from him. Very disappointing.

Zero Rating… – Century 21 in Port Douglas Qld, to anyone and everyone looking for a property manager, do yourselves a favour, STAY CLEAR of them… mismanagers is more to the point, they never did proper inspections, the ones they did all had “too cluttered to inspect” and they never breached the tenant or acted on that, the tenant was a hoarder, when we said we… Read more
weren’t happy about that, they said we can’t tell the tenant how to live. When we didn’t Renew his lease and got him out we have been left with $35,000 worth of damage, and C21 are not taking any responsibility for that and then just to make things worse, they used the bond for cleaning.. 4 months later we are living in a caravan park because our place is currently uninhabitable…paying $800 a week because no one else would take a 3 month lease while repairs are being done on our place. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM C21 PORT DOUGLAS QLD.

had an extremely disappointing experience with Century 21 as a real estate agency. From the start, communication was poor and inconsistent. inspections, providing inaccurate information, and making me feel like I was a burden rather than a client. There was a serious lack of transparency throughout the process, and I often had to follow up multiple times just to get basic updates.
What should have been a smooth and supportive process turned into a constant source of stress. I expected better from a company that positions itself as a reputable agency in the market.
I would strongly recommend avoiding C21 if you’re looking for a team that values integrity, communication, and client care. There are plenty of other agencies out there that actually take pride in their work – sadly, C21 is not one of them.

Horrible Agency – Do not let this agency manage your investment property. This agency was looking after my property for 3 years and did not charge the tenant water usage even though the tenant is required to pay. Now the tenant is not obliged to pay. Also, this agency withholds payments during the Christmas break which is quite unprofessional.

Weeks later relisted with Century 21, was placed with different agent - maybe, I thought some consideration might be available. Ha! Obviously he thought nothing of letting himself into my home without letting me know. I was in the process of taking down the curtains with the intent of replacing them with different curtains. On that day after I got back from a shopping trip I was told I had sold the place with curtains and I had to honour that. It would be wrong to take curtains down now. So, how did he know they were down? It would not be possible to see that from the outside, there was no arrangement made for the agent to entre MY HOME during the period of the curtains not being in place.

cleaning up was mentioned in contract and supposed to be arranged by agent, they didn't do it before settlement. We had to go back to them to arrange for it. Later, they arranged a gardener but they didn't complete the job because they were paid for just one hour job. When we started questioning about this, [Name Removed] simply blocked our contact. Then gardeners mentioned that [Name Removed] requested them to contact us and send the quote for the rest of the job to us. It was just hilarious.
If you buy a property especially through century 21, please make sure all the pending works are been completed before the settlement. After the settlement, they won't respond and sometimes, they will block your contact too.
I wish to give zero rating, if possible.
I WILL NOT RECOMMEND CENTURY 21 PRIME ST KILDA TO ANYONE HEREAFTER.
Commission hungry agents – I dont want to name anyone specifically, but can if needed. I'm starting to believe Century 21 is a franchise that anyone can buy into because on 2 occasions with different realestate agents, Century21 has hired rude, ill equiped and tardy people.
