AI reviews summary
Recent feedback for Chemist Warehouse indicates significant dissatisfaction with the brand's digital transition and customer service standards. While a small segment of users still values the competitive pricing on vitamins and perfumes, the majority of recent reports highlight a breakdown in online ordering reliability, long in-store wait times, and a perceived decline in the "discount" value proposition.
Pros
- Competitive Pricing on Specific Ranges: The store remains a popular destination for designer perfumes, vitamins, and Korean skincare, with users frequently finding better deals here than at department stores.
- Convenient Hours and Locations: Multiple users appreciate the extended opening hours and the high density of physical stores, making it accessible for urgent needs.
- Individual Staff Excellence: While general service is criticised, specific staff members at various locations are praised for being professional, kind, and going "above and beyond."
- Efficiency in Some Regions: A few customers reported exceptionally fast delivery times (within 24–48 hours) for online orders in specific urban and rural areas.
Cons
- Unreliable Online and App Systems: A major recurring issue involves users placing orders for "in-stock" items, only to have them cancelled hours or days later without explanation or with partial refunds that exclude shipping fees.
- Poor Prescription Management: Frequent complaints cite excessive wait times (30–60 minutes), lost scripts, and errors in dispensing, such as providing the wrong medication or failing to return original paper scripts.
- Hostile Customer Service and Management: Many users report dismissive, rude, or "arrogant" interactions with store managers, particularly regarding returns of faulty products or price-matching requests.
- Short Expiry Dates and Damaged Goods: Customers frequently receive supplements or medications with very short shelf lives (expiring within months) or items that have leaked due to poor packaging.
Verdict
Chemist Warehouse appears to be struggling with a "warehouse" model that prioritises volume over customer care, resulting in a chaotic in-store experience and a buggy online platform. While it remains a viable option for those seeking the lowest prices on non-essential beauty and wellness items, it is increasingly viewed as unreliable for critical prescription needs and high-stakes online shopping.
Last Time I go to Chemist Warehouse In Coolangatta N.S.W. I took an item (in their special Catalogue) to counter, to be charged more, I said it's on Special, I'd even cut out the section from the Catalogue. Girl went to the Shelf, said No it's not. I said showing her the cut special "it say's it here in your Catalogue", SHE TOLD me my cut out… Read more
was not from their Catalogue. What a RUDE way to treat a customer, Told her to keep her product. NEVER HAD any satifaction from this store in Coolangatta- they either don't have the item in stock or try to charge more... VERY LAST time I'm going in there to be insulted.
I bought a pack of band that cost me $20 for just 3 pcs and an antiseptic cream tube on Burke St, Melbourne on Saturday, 4th July. The receptionist asked me if I needed receipt, I thought I saved her some paper so I said no since I have the transaction on my phone. I came home and realized it was the wrong bandage. I brought back to the Chemist… Read more
Warehouse in Glenwaverly in Pine Shopping centre to exchange for 4 single pads that cost $37!!! They didn’t give me exchange since I didn’t have the paper receipt. I asked them to add the antiseptic cream and the bandage. Its total cost would match the receipt on my phone bank account. They denied helping including the receptionists and pharmacist. The most insulting part is the security men acting like they are policemen who keep eyes on shoplifters!!! He said I already opened the pack! NO the pack is never sealed!!! It has 3 individual packs that sealed inside. They upset me so much since I was in pain and after a long day at work. My $25 is thrown in the bin.
I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THIS COMPANY. I rather support friendly local pharmacies. They robbed me $20. If I could give them negative starx1,000, I would. They treat customers like dirt. Unprofessional and ripped off.
All is good until you have a problem and then see how little they care about the customer. In my case I had a a bad reaction to a supplement (Bioglan l-theanine for calm and focus) and reached out to them to let them know the product does opposite of what it claims to do and that the main ingredient pauses risk in certain individuals according to… Read more
numerous online reviews and advised them that there should be a warning of some sort. I also requested a refund which they declined. Moreover, they deleted my review of the product in question and in that way continue to mislead their customers which I find sickening. At least i was able to get promt response from Bioglan, who took genuine interest in my case and issued a refund after documenting all the side effects. Chemist Warehouse isn't concerned with anything other than profit and offers substandard customer service.

I just got my parcel today and was very emotional. I felt ashamed, embarrassed and mad at the same time. I ordered online and the store that provide the online order was in tenancy t5,joondalup,wa,6027. seeing hair shampoo and conditioner and even detox soap, this not even the same the amount I payed. The delivery cost was too high but unsatisfied with the items I received. I got traumatized and felt being scammed to what I got. It was double the embarrassment since I ordered it for my friend which I will bring abroad. I was very upset. Still waiting for their line to open. I called like 5mins before closing and the guy told me just call tomorrow since we are closing. Wow. I will not call in the first place If they do their packaging very careful. As if I owe them too much time while the time I need to spend to get in touch with them and ask to what I payed was nothing? Let see what actions they need to do, this was a waste of time, money and effort, this feels like emotional damaged.

I have been a very loyal customer to Chemist Warehouse for many years. Last week I bought cenovis woman vitamin 15 bottles and other products to send to family In overseas, it come to my schock they send me three months to expire date of 15 vitamin bottles. I called the customer service to return the product. They said they do not have policy to… Read more
return for vitamin and they do not recommend Customer to buy bulk for vitamin supplement but In their availability we can buy up to 20 unit in each vitamin . Now blaming the Customer for buying too much. The customer service woman told me that they can sell any vitamin supplement as long as they have more than one month expiry date. I told him to understand that it’s a lot of vitamin and this is scamming for me. unfortunately she can’t help me anything because her boss say no. For me this is a rip of a scam. They just wanna get rid of their almost expired product and not care about Customer. I never thought Chemist Warehouse would do that to a customer.
They put unsealed products on shelves and refused to exchange. This Tuesday, I bought a Blackmore vitamin E 500 IU from this store. When we bought it, it was the last one on the shelf in all this class. So we took it and pay directly. We found it was opened and unsealed the next day morning. When I found them and requested an exchange, they… Read more
call their manager. The manager said she checked the footage and insisted it was sealed. But she didn’t show me the footage and refused anything exchange.
This is a serious problem, because it is kind of food safety problem and business dishonest.
Inc whey Protein 25g protein 1g fat 1g carbs has lept in price for a 2kg tub to a whopping $194 .00. Think they must want to kill the INC brand as that is a ridiculous price rise
I bought a 500-tablet bottle of Fish Oil on April 29th online but it expires in December 2026. Even if I follow the maximum dosage (2 pills a day), it's impossible to finish the bottle before it expires. The store is clearly clearing out old stock without considering consumers. My previous purchase of the same product( bought march 2025 ) had a much longer shelf life. Be very careful and check the date before you buy from this Nowra branch!"

APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE, LACK OF POLICY TRANSPARENCY & MISLEADING SIGNAGE. They won't let you try on knee brace & then don't let you return it when it's the wrong size. They have a tape measure, but you can't measure the height of the product & it is not listed on the package. The signage it right up the top of a 6ft shelf, so you don't even… Read more

They say they have a 7 day return policy, but it is nowhere in store & not on the receipt. The manager literally had to print off a policy from their back room & left me waiting for 10 mins while she had to try & find it!! She says it says it on the receipt. NO IT IS NOT!
On the way out the SMART BUTT AUSSIE ([photo Removed]) literally pulled out an ad from below the counter for a kids toy & pointed at the fine print & said it's here, while laughing. HELLO?! It is the fine print on an ad for a kids toy & not my product & you expect me to see the fine print from 5 metres away. WTH?! What a freaking joke!
How many other people have been ripped off in this way?!
We ordered $74.15 cosmetics products online and after payment it was showing some of the product was out of stock. Later, I didn’t get any product and the amount was also not refunded.
Returned a product as was faulty when I took it home. Returned to store to exchange and manager refused and accused me of breaking the seal. This does not make sense as I am exchanging for another one then his attitude becomes arrogant. Don't need this for an item worth $4. Not shopping here again.
Awesome service with free delivery for purchase I made today- amazingly fast!

I recently purchased an item from Chemist Warehouse Kedron (Rode Rd & Gympie Rd) and unfortunately discovered when I got home that the box was torn and one of the two items inside was missing. apology or any acknowledgement of the inconvenience. I explained that I didn’t want a refund — I simply wanted the same product replaced. Instead of offering to check other Chemist Warehouse stores for stock, I was told the item “cannot be ordered anymore” and that I would need to come back to the store myself. Considering there are many Chemist Warehouse locations across Brisbane, I felt more effort could have been made to assist or at least reassure me.
The lack of customer care, especially during a busy season, was disappointing. A simple apology or an offer to check other stores would have made a big difference. I hope the store reviews its approach to customer service, particularly when dealing with faulty or incomplete products.
I got caught three times in one week: selling by deception, wrong prices marked, and being charged twice at the counter; twice prescription medicine was charged excessively, more than the printed price on the labels. When confronted, they refunded. But if you aren't noticing, they syphon money from consumers in big time. Show details
I'm shopping quite often at Glenquarie shopping centre. Normally the person over there always friendly and helpful but this perticular person who served me was so rude. How can a person like that can work in tye customer service???
I visited Chemist Warehouse at Glen Waverley Kingsway to buy a product, and they refused both a price match and a refund. Before payment, the staff did not inform us that the item was non-refundable or that price matching could only be done before purchase. We bought three units of the same product, and within just 15 minutes, we found a huge… Read more
price difference at the store next door — enough to buy another bottle. Despite this, the store refused to offer a refund or honor a price match. Very disappointing experience — poor transparency and dishonest customer service.
They claimed “everyone can see our policy,” but where exactly? Not every counter even has the A4 notice they mentioned. The counter where I paid didn’t have it, and the staff never mentioned checking any policy. Later, I found two small A4 sheets posted on the side of the counter — so tucked away that I had to take a close-up photo just to read their dense and lengthy policy text. How can they expect every customer to see that? The counter is for payment, not for hunting hidden policies.
From a consumer’s perspective, this is misleading and deceptive, because I was never clearly informed that refunds were not allowed. They have a duty to inform customers before payment, not after the purchase when a problem arises.
When I pointed this out, the staff said, “We can’t tell every customer before they buy.” That’s a weak excuse for poor business ethics — that’s the point! I had no way of knowing before paying, and they used this “no-obligation” excuse to refuse me. But this is their responsibility — they have an obligation to clearly inform customers in advance.
To make things worse, one of the employees — an Indian woman with glasses working at the checkout counter — was extremely rude and impatient. She even tried to twist the situation and accuse me of being rude first, when in fact I was only upset because of her unprofessional attitude.
As someone working at the front counter — a customer service role — she should know how to handle customers properly. In such a situation, it’s completely normal for a customer to feel angry, and I believe anyone would feel the same if they encountered such hidden and deceptive practices.
She clearly didn’t have the authority to solve the issue, yet instead of calling the manager right away, she ignored my concern and tried to brush me off. It was only after I raised my voice out of frustration that she finally brought the manager to the front. And rather than addressing the issue properly, they tried to involve security to make me leave, which of course is much easier than actually solving the customer’s problem.
Overall: zero transparency, zero accountability, and terrible customer service. I have never seen a store that refuses both refund and price match like this.
Received my parcel this morning and would like to thankyou very much. You're tracking and communication was excellent as was Australia Post. Keep up the good work.
The latest update to the online ordering system is the worst EVER. After adding your products, select "click and collect" and choose the store that has all the products in stock. that not all products are available. Odd, they were one page ago... But you can't go back and change stores? The only option is to remove the products... EPIC FAIL.
The in-store experience is much better than the online one.

Visited Chemist Wharehouse Alfredton to have scripts dispensed today and was given a free 45 minute wait along with the worst customer service imaginable. consumed. Note the use by date is etched into the plastic bottle and instore with the poor light and lack of contrast it is basically impossible to find or read the expiry date. I rang Chemist Warehouse head office to resolve this issue, and frankly they couldn't give a 'stuff' about the poor stock rotation and refused to assist. As a result I must travel to the city at a cost greater than the product cost to return this product or just tip it down the sink. What an appalling retailer, especially one in the health space, who cannot even rotate stock correctly - would you trust this chemist to get prescriptions correct??? I would doubt it.

So so so slow. I know they implement a wait period of 15 minutes so the clients may wonder the store and buy more. But there is only so much stuff anyone needs. Just dispense the meds, for crying out loud!
Follow-up · Dispensing area was quiet with 4 people waiting on scripts. There were 4 staff members in the Dispensing area. I waited 28 minutes. I finally went to ask if my meds are ready and they said they will have them ready shortly. Staff were factual but certainly not in the least apologetic for the delay.

shipping notification. Contacting them is an absolute nightmare and as I am in a rural remote location my phone service is not reliable. No Email address, No place to ask about an order... absolutely nothing. I finally found an email address not for orders, but hey anything was better than nothing. You can't tell them what the problem is and you receive a non replyable email telling you what your case number is? Case for what they don't even know what the issue is. Then nothing..... absolutely nothing....... no contact....... nothing? I have tried several avenues all with NO REPLY! I keep getting emails about my script on file and yet I haven't received the first one. It is now 16th June 2026 and I still have no order, perscription or items I now urgently require. They took my money and failed to deliver the goods? I am presuming my only option is ACCC if they won't speak to me? Never ever again will I be put in this position of such poor customer service and even poor supply of goods ordered and paid for weeks and weeks ago!
