not good – I have this insurance via my Amex card. Only thing i needed to claim was for a damaged mobile smart phone. Unfortunately they have a limit of $250 and the excess is $250 essentially cancelling the claim out meaning its not covered. Show details
Chubb should be Grubb – Chubb should be Grubb I wish there was less than 1 star! My wife broke her leg, so we were unable to travel! So a claim was submitted with Chubb it took about 5hrs for me to gather all the information they wanted for the claim, then I get a reply “you’ll hear from us in 10 business days!” Then in 10 days “we need more documentation” ie proof… Read more
from our GP that the broken leg wasn’t a pre existing condition! I made a complaint there reply “you’ll hear from us in 30 days!” It’s deliberate stalling from a multi billion dollar company that doesn’t want to pay out my $3000 claim but happy to take my premium!!
Unable to claim – They make the website impossible to make claims. I spent over 2 hours using 5 different browsers to try and submit but claim but always at the end it says *claim submission unsuccessful*. It’s a complete scam and my flight times changes the night prior which meant I had to drive 5 hours to make a work meeting. Thinking I may need to contact an ombudsman and let consumer affairs know about my experience. Show details
Chubb are Grubs!!! – Complaint summary: Yes I have a very valid claim in respect to my “Travel Insurance” issued and paid directly to my Qantas Visa card (Citigroup) and issued by Chubb Insurance on behalf. My claim is very simple as attached and agreed upon by the Insurer in there attached letter, My plane leaving Broome to Perth at 10.30am was cancelled all together… Read more
due to mechanical problems what we were told! and in doing so we missed our connecting flight back to Sydney from Perth leaving at 4.30pm. After negotiations with Qantas staff in Broome, we were lucky enough to be placed upon a later flight, but unfortunately we miss our connecting flight by 1 and ½ hours with “Jetstar”, once we arrived, again speaking with Qantas staff on the ground we were able to be flown home on the midday flight at 12am arrive in Sydney at 6am at a cost as noted in attached report. Please note we are not claiming any other out of pocket expenses, including meals, accommodation or transport just simply the expenses incurred to buy additional flights. We have paid for travel Insurance for over 40 years without any claim, when we have a claim we expect this to be honoured.
Terrible. An absolute rort! – Easy to buy insurance, impossible to claim and be looked after. Lodging claims are actually a waste of time and energy, as they have no intention on paying and resolving your claim. I will NEVER use again and will tell everyone in the industry to do the same. Calling customer service hotline and the operator was appallingly rude and unhelpful, directing me back to website as she didn't really want to assist. An absolute joke! Show details
They never pay out a claim! – They make it so way to buy and tell you everything is covered, I even asked if someone in our family was to get ill can the trip be cancelled they advise all you need is a medical certificate and yes you and your family are covered! When I put the claim in they asked for my dr to do a massive report and sign a stat declaration. They made it impossible for us to make a claim! Show details
Successful settlement of claim for cancelled travel plans – On the 17th August 2019 I received a call from my mum asking if I could travel up from Tassie to Qld to assist with her hospital attendance for both a pre-op appointment on 27th August and eventual hospital admission for a full knee replacement scheduled for 2nd September 2019. We immediately made flight bookings, including a flight from Tasmania… Read more
to Melbourne on the 24th August 2019 at 6.30am with Rex Airlines before flying to Brisbane with Qantas.
Thursday, 22nd August my mum called again to say that the surgery had suddenly been postponed at short notice (to a future unknown date), so my assistance wasn't needed at this time. We managed to cancel all the travel plans but could not be reimbursed by Rex Airlines for loss of fares due to the short notice of cancellation, so we were advised to lodge a claim with Chubb Travel insurance.
Before lodging the claim I had the foresight create an Incident Report detailing the sequence of events leading up to the need to cancel flight. When I finally made the claim, I was able to attach copies of: a) My incident report b) Letter advising of scheduled date of pre-op appointment and scheduled operation date c) Letter advising of postponement of operation d) Initial ticket and insurance policy
31st of August 2019 - armed with all the above documentation and information, I was able to commence the on-line claim process which proved to be a very easy and seamless process. The questions and drop-down choices are very straightforward and in an easy to understand plain-English format.
6th September 2019 – we received a letter from Chubb Travel insurance that our on-line claim had been processed and we should expect a cheque in the mail for the full claimed amount within the next five (5) business days
12th September 2019 – as promised, we received a cheque for the full amount claimed, less tax and services, which amounted to only a small percentage of the claimed amount
To say I was staggered is an understatement. From woe to go, the process took less than two (2) weeks which is absolutely amazing. When we received the cheque I immediately contacted Chubb Travel Insurance to pass on my positive feedback as well as our sincere thanks for dealing with our claim in a very effective and efficient manner. The Claim Assessors need to be congratulated.
The main lesson I’ve learnt from this situation is that it’s important to provide as much relevant and truthful information when initially making a claim – it makes the job of the claim assessor so much easier in coming to a successful conclusion – Congratulations to the Chubb team, it’s taken a huge weight off our shoulders.
Finally, we live in a fairly remote part of Tasmania and don’t have a lot of choices to cover our travel needs to get to the mainland on short notice, so it’s comforting to know that what choices we do make are backed up if we need to make changes to our travel plans – well done to the Chubb team
No help when I broke my leg and needed domestic help – Broke my leg, I needed domestic help and was told I need a drs letter stating I need to stay in bed. 18 years I have never missed a payment. When I needed help, they refused. Don’t pay this company anything.
