Will continue to use as my goto Insurance

We have used SCTI several times now but fortunately did not have to make a claim until our last trip. Made a claim for a relatively small amount due to some minor rental car damage. SCTI were quick to assess and approve. Have always found them to be good value and after this experience they will be my goto travel insurance. I often rent vehicles on overseas trips and this was the first time I have had any issues. Good to know that SCTI have my back should this occur again.

Great company

This was the first time I took out a Southern Cross Travel Insurance and was very happy with the way my claim was assessed and was warned there could be a delay on the final assessment, but it wasn't very long. One of the reasons I decided was the premium on the over 80, which was reasonable. Will certainly use this company again on any further travels

Perfect Insurance For Our Needs

Great Service

Very easy booking process online. Have used Southern Cross a number of times because of friendly online process and competitive pricing. Great service and nice to know help us there when needed.

One claim made due to necessity to return home early and the assistance was much appreciated.

Easy and reliable

Southern Cross Travel Insurance saved my uncle's life when he suffered a medical emergency overseas. I have also used them for my overseas trips and while they are not as cheap as other offerings, I have trust in the ease of their initial application process and assistance if issues were to arise. Were also great in answering questions regarding clarifying certain parts of the policy. Thanks.

Great product and great service

A great product that is easy to set up - either online or with a quick phone call. Really easy to get an online quote before committing. Prices seems competitive and cover options (even for pre-existing) are very straightforward. and Pre and post travel communication is fantastic. Haven't needed to make a claim but feel confident assistance would be provided if I had to do so.

Magnificent product and service

60yr olds, 8wks in Sth America, me with asthma: most insurers said no. Not SCTI. They gave friendly, professional advice and peace of mind for an adventure of a lifetime. We would definitely use this company again and have recommended to several friends already.

Easy to use and very thorough

We have just returned. No need for a claim. But the Pre and Post departure contacts were useful. Policy was easy to set up even with a pre existing condition

Appreciation to Southern Cross Travel Insurance.

We have just returned home safely, for which we are grateful. It warmed our heart to have Southern Cross Travel Insurance send us an email just before our departure to, wish us a safe trip and to assure us that should the need arise they would address any claim. On our return, they sent the same form of email advice assuring us that they would act promptly on any claim arising from our trip. We are most impressed that an insurance company would take the time and trouble to send such a thoughtful and reassuring messages. I think it says volumes for Southern Cross Travel Insurance. Won't travel without SCT cover

Pre existing conditions cover

I have used SCT twice. Primarily because they are the only insurance company prepared to cover me for my pre existing health condition. The on line health questionnaire is easy to use and the associated increase in premium is promptly displayed.

Won't pay for cruise that turned into a bus ride

During the large floods in Europe of 2013, we were supposed to be on a River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. The cruise company (Scenic Tours) -knowing of this in advance- forced us to go by bus for over 50% of the trip. Also refused passengers to cancel.
During this time I was in touch with Southern Cross insurance and kept them informed.
When we returned to Australia and we placed a claim, they refused it, based on a technicality the we did do the "trip" -even though it was mostly by bus! So this cost us around AUD$20,000 for a bus ride!
Never have and never will use SC again!

Hi I am using SCTI for past three years touch wood no claim. I have a query This time me and wife traveling different but same location ( 1week gap then i will join with my wife in fist destination) do i need to take separate travel insurance or one combined insurance for both, please clarify

That I suspect is up to you, but my thought is that as you are travelling at a different times, to be careful of any potential problems that are covered by SCTI, I would take separate travel insurance unless you travel together.Thanks Max, good and timely adviseHi Renga Rejan, Thank you for your question. Please accept my apology for the delayed response. If you and your wife are travelling at different times but to the same location, you can both still be on the same policy if you wish. There are just a couple things you will want to bear in mind – 1) When you’re travelling separately you will only be covered up to the individual amounts under the policy. For example, under Baggage and Personal items the individual limit is $25,000 per journey whereas the family limit is $50,000. This means if you were travelling separately from your wife and you lost your suitcase you would only be able to claim up to the individual limit. 2) If one of you were to fall ill and the other person wanted to travel to see them, they will only be covered for the Accompanying Persons benefit. The individual’s circumstances must meet the conditions of this benefit to apply. For more information please see page 14 of the Policy Disclosure Statement. Hi Vinod S, Thank you for your question. The TravelCare policy provides cover for rental vehicle excess up to $5000. This means that when you hire a car overseas, you will need to purchase insurance from the rental vehicle company to cover the car (which includes damage to third party vehicles). Therefore, in your example the insurance you took out with the rental vehicle company would cover the repair bills for damage to your car and the other car involved. They would then charge you an excess and you would be able to claim this back through your TravelCare policy. I have now used scti twice without making a claim we are off again in May but you don’t seem to have any discounts for repeat business?

f you’re planning on taking several trips a year, our Annual Multi-Trip policy might be a more cost (and time) effective choice than shopping around for travel insurance every time you travel. Once purchased, you’re covered for an unlimited number of return journeys overseas, over a period of 12 months commencing on your start date of insurance. You can choose to have journeys covered up to a maximum of 30, 60 or 90-day in length. So if you’re planning to go on several trips this year, you could buy just one policy to get cover for a year’s worth of adventure. If you buy a ‘Family’ Annual Multi-Trip Policy, the adults on the Certificate of Insurance can travel independently, however any dependent children named on the Certificate of Insurance are only covered if travelling with an adult named on the same Certificate of Insurance."The above is copied from the information on multi-trips. ceejaaHi David and Paula Cox, Thank you for your continued loyalty.
