Read the fine print re scooter coverage in Bali
I have used SCTI multiple times over many years. Their prices are competitive. I switched to using Freely recently because they have a great app, but I had to pay extra PER DAY for scooter/moped coverage so I went back to SCTI because it is $20 extra for the whole trip. I am currently on a trip in Bali and I am covered to ride as a PASSENGER on a GoJek or Grab, but as far as I can tell, not to rent or ride one myself. Hence the reason for the two stars because their blog articles and the actual PDS are conflicting, and therefore it’s misleading... Read more. On the website (in an article) it says: “ If you do hire a moped, always hire from a licensed rental vehicle agency and ensure the engine capacity is 200cc or less, wear your helmet and adequate clothing, follow local driving laws or rules, ensure you have a valid international drivers permit with you at all times as our policy requires you to have a valid driver’s license as required from Bali. “ Yet in the PDS it says: “ make sure the driver has the right drivers license for the class of moped or motorbike you’re riding, as required by their country of permanent residence” So the international drivers permit isn’t actually enough, despite it saying this in their own article. I’ve emailed them multiple times for clarity and they’re all “oh we really couldn’t say” and “you’d need to confirm with the relevant authority within Australia” and yet I know that if I actually was in an accident they’d confirm whether or not I was covered quick smart. Do better. Be better. Don’t wilfully confuse people and provide inaccurate information that could lead people to not be covered by your insurance.Extended Cruise Holiday- last minute

Its 4:40pm on Friday. I want to buy a policy but have a question that is not answered on the website. Tried online chat, only got the bot - "online is not available, call us". Tried that, but the call was answered with a voicemail "we are not available" - and it is still during business hours. This policy was the best value I could find for a person of my age, 82. It was very easy to set up and this is the third time I have used this company in the last three years. SCTI handled my claim for a medical cancellation of a fully prepaid and expensive group tour by my wife and myself to a remote part of Australia. The claim was very professionally and sympathetically handled by the claims department on a personal basis and was fully met promptly once all the required information was provided. (a) Is the call from overseas to your helpline (1800-196-484) a reverse charge call or do I pay for the call?
(b) If the overseas hospitalisation expense is more than $2000 and approved by SCTI, does SCTI pay the hospital directly or do I pay first?
(c) Does your comprehensive travel insurance cover a new epidemic or pandemic that is NOT Covid?

t a claim- however there are many variables, so please ensure that you contact Southern Cross Emergency Assistance first to confirm. Epidemics and Pandemics are included in our list of general exclusions, as per section E.2 of our International Comprehensive PDS. ger’, number E.31 which outlines alcohol usage. We will always look at each claim on a case-by-case basis. In this situation of a fall, we would look to compare it to how likely the fall would have happened if a reasonable person who was not under the influence were to have had the fall. - To be eligible for domestic cover you must live in Australia permanently, be eligible for a Medicare card and travelling more than 100km (amongst other stipulated conditions).
- The domestic policy covers: changes to your journey, cancellations, baggage and personal items, rental vehicle excess, cash allowance in hospital, expense for a loved one if you’re in hospital, pet services, childcare expenses, funeral expenses, personal accident and personal liability.
- The international single trip policy covers one-off trips, while the international annual multi-trip option may be suitable if you travel frequently and up to 90 days at a time. Both policies are offered for either individuals or families. They include unlimited cover for medical costs and evacuation, cancelling or changing your journey before leaving, or after leaving, baggage and personal items, cash, bank cards, travel documents and passports, personal accidents, rental vehicle excess, personal liability, pet services, childcare expenses, and optional cover for cruises, mopeds and motorbikes, and skiing and snowboarding.
