My withdrawal to the same wallet address has been put on hold for the third time, despite my requests to have it whitelisted and my repeated answers to security questions. I was assured the issue was resolved and the hold would not recur. Show details

I've been using CoinJar for many years without any issues, until the other day when I tried to get my BTC Wallet Address. They asked about some previous incoming transfers I made. To which I recieved the following email from them: === I'm very sorry to report that our Security Team has advised that CoinJar can no longer provide services for your… Read more

account, meaning they have made the decision to close your CoinJar account.

I know this may be a surprise, and I’m sorry for any trouble this causes. Unfortunately, we don’t have any more details, and we can’t reverse this decision – but I'm here to guide you through the next steps. What do I need to do? You need to withdraw the remaining balance from your CoinJar account. Any pending deposits have been cleared. If you have a verified linked bank account: Please withdraw your funds to your bank account. We cannot send money to external cryptocurrency addresses.

Once you’ve withdrawn your funds, your account will be permanently closed in accordance with our Terms. Any future CoinJar accounts connected to this one will also be closed automatically. I’m sorry again for the lack of details regarding your account closure. If you need help withdrawing your funds, please let me know so I can assist. === This is really dissapointing that they can't give me any reason, and I've regularly been buying $50 of XRP every week for almost a year, and they haven't said anything. Now I'm forced to sell it, and transfer the funds out so they can close my account.

Beware using CoinJar - they could do the same to you without any rhyme or reason.

SCAM- Cannot withdraw BTC and they give message to email support after 4 emails over the week. No response. Phone number just goes to a voicemail. Do not use them.

Third time trying to transfer coins to my wallet, each time denied transfer. Forced to answer personal questions like why did I make the transfer, who to and what's it for. 15 days later coins were put back into my coin jar account for trading . I lost 15 days of trading which I lost money on. A simple transaction made impossible. Says open app… Read more

to answer questions. Questions aren't available. emailed support 2 days for a response each inquiry. Must answer questions I said I don't consent to answering private questions so the transaction was cancelled. This is a breach of privacy and contract. I would not use this trading platform for the continuous unnecessary basic trading problems

Absolutely ridiculous to get anything done with this company. They have all these practices in place to prevent scamming and then prevent me from using my own money because they think it's a scam. Eventually someone called me about the transfer. I kept telling them it's really me it's not a scam and they still blocked it! I've now closed my… Read more

account and gone with someone else. Don't waste your time. Their fees are also so expensive if going through the app.

Not only that, their "customer service" is business hours. So if you buy crypto on a Friday, don't expect it to be released until the following week. Even longer if it's around public holidays! Crypto trades 24/7 and these guys should wake up.

Anyway, I'm done with them.

I used CoinJar as an AUD→crypto on-ramp. The platform frustrating for anyone who values speed, or autonomy. Main pain points Paternalistic compliance process • Outbound transfers above an undisclosed threshold automatically trigger a “financial-scam questionnaire” plus demands for screenshots of the destination wallet. • These checks apply even… Read more

when you are moving funds to your own, self-custodied address, and they can delay withdrawals. Experienced users may feel “treated like a baby.”

Opaque and slow customer support without sufficient updates and no online chat or way to phone.

Coinjar are TO BE AVOIDED. They're acting as a psuedo branch of the ATO. It is the worst example of a free trading platform I've ever been involved with. They're refusing to transfer tokens of mine after 6 weeks of interaction. Some of the details requested are more akin to what would be expected from a phishing communication. BE WARNED Show details

Scammers. Stay away! Can't send crypto any address. I'm not sure they even have the funds to cover withdrawals. Any time you send funds, they request a review and want to know everything. Trading history, bank statements the cycle never ends. When you provide them with one, they keep asking for more. Do not use this exchange for any trading activity.

Stay Away from Coinjar! – Coinjar wants to know where I send my crypto. I was just sending it to my private wallet and they needed to know a lot of personal information, which I gave them and they decided that I am not allowed to send crypto to my personal wallet. They are just a spy for the Government. Not your keys not your coins. Stay away from Coinjar and centralized exchanges in general. Your coins belong in a wallet that no one but you have control over. Show details

Highly Suspicious Practices – Avoid This Company! – I’ve had a deeply frustrating experience with CoinJar. It’s hard to trust a company when their reviews seem suspicious. I noticed a sudden spike in their Google Play Store rating from 4.5 to 4.6 stars within just a few days, which feels unnatural and raises concerns about fake reviews. This pattern might also extend to their ratings on the Apple… Read more

Store. In my opinion, their email responses feel dismissive and avoid addressing real issues. Even claims like having 100k downloads on Google Play seem questionable. I strongly advise against using this company. Proceed with caution!

Utter crap – Utter crap. Every transaction goes to "under review" which delays the transaction for at least 24 hours. This means that you have missed the payment window which needs to be immediate. Legit Scam with a subterfuge pretending to be regulated. STAY AWAY

machine!

95% of transactions I made here were under $200. I have complied with all requests for additional KYC verification and provided a myriad of personal documents such as payslips and bank statements. Not everyone’s income will conform to a standard employer paycheck every week/fortnight/etc - in fact I would imagine a lot of people’s don’t anymore - but Coinjar apparently won’t accept anything else as a ‘source of income’.

Perhaps I should be more concerned with what is being done with my information as I note that Coinjar are not actually a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). There are no other formal avenues of complaint available other their own internal complaints resolution.

With regards to the app itself, I liked the UI and it was fast with sending and withdrawals. However, in more recent times I had significant issues with Instant Buy (both Apple Pay and card payments). I did find the recent change to 12 confirmations for incoming deposits from crypto wallets outside Coinjar unnecessary and excessive, especially when it used to be 3. This was always the case for larger amounts which is fair enough but then they started doing 12 confirmations for any amount at all, even just $10.

TL:DR Avoid Coinjar. Technical and other issues will prove bothersome and annoying to most casual users and recent termination of my personal account for no reason at all is actually quite hurtful and shows little regard given to what was a very loyal customer.

why would an exchange remove 2 factor secuiry on an account with 80k of bitcoin sitting there? its a ludicruse situation and coinjar even with the financial ombudsman's sent them soo many legal letters and threats

my loss is now $225,000 AUD from this

Decent app. with a long operating history – Crypto OGs in AU most likely heard about CoinJar as it's the first Crypto exchange in AU. Kinda of staying low-key without much marketing. I have been using it for quite a long time and found it is reliable. No issue with funding/withdrawing. Show details
