Tight fisted crooks pure and simple.
After many years of paying CommInsure for home and contents insurance we needed help to repair storm damage to the pool surrounds. Thousands paid into CommInsure and not a single cent paid back when you need it most. Do yourself a favour and save your cash, pay into these crooks and you will regret it. It is a travesty when your policy shows you are covered until you need their help then you are on your own. Quick to take your money, quicker to refuse your claim. Can’t even say look elsewhere as in my experience they are all the same. Just read...the other reviews, real people, real scenarios and all treat the same. CommInsure have a well rehearsed refusals policy that is far superior to their ability to help their paying clients. You have been warned.
would not recommend comminsure for any claims - absolute nightmare with a small claim - 1st wanted quotes on repairs from tradies to fix problem - then it wasnt to their liking - so on 1 occasion 1 hour on the phone waiting , another 2 hours and 10 minutes to then get told they want their own builder to look at house - this is 1 month after the problem happened. over the last 2 weeks told builder to look at soon - today last straw - now builder cannot give accurate time to look at house. 12k premiums per year over the last 7- 8 years with 1 really small claim and they cannot even contact me properly to sort a minor claim. hopeless...
Please do not waste your money on an insurance that will not pay you in time of need! They have horrible customer service, you have to constantly contact them to follow up on their progress with your claim and they look for any reason to deny your claim. As a result of the previous heavy storms and rain we had, my ceiling in my kitchen has collapsed. I have a new born in the house and I'm a single mum. It took them 3 days to get someone to my property to do a 'make safe'! This only happened because I called them multiple times requesting someon...e to come out. I had people in and out of my house on a number of occasions because they didn't do the 'make safe properly' (they didn't put a tarp on my roof which was essentially is where the rain was coming in from). After almost 20 days they call me to say that they are denying my claim due to a maintance error from my end, which is not what the assessor had told me when he was on my property! Bottom line don't bother with Commonwealth Insurance!
The worst insurance ever
We got broken into a couple of years back, and the way we were treated made us feel like we had orchestrated the whole thing. I was 26 week pregnant at the time and going through a high risk pregnancy. CommInsure made our life hell! Literally ! Started investigating us and uplifting up personal life for no reason. My husband and I had never ever made a claim, we are hard working honest people. I ended up giving birth at 32 weeks and in the end my ob instructed to winthdraw they claim because of what we were going through and focus on our baby and open it back up once our lives settled down again. But after suffering from severe anxiety and depression I couldn’t bring myself to deal with it again. Disgusting and inhuman level of service
Disgustingly greedy, unethical, money-grabbing
We took out a home loan with Commbank and wanted to make sure we got the best insurance cover so we went ahead and signed up with Comminsure. Two years later and we discovered damage and mould to one of the bedrooms and the bathroom. We contacted them the next day to lodge a claim and after a lengthy process with appalling communication, total disregard for customers (treating us like we've tried to hide or patch up the cause even though we have no idea what even caused the mould let alone WHAT to patch up) and sending in their paid henchmen (C...onstuct Building Services and Sedgwick) to make an assessment, which are distastefully biased and are clearly looking for any reason to not cover us, even proposing multiple opinions and conclusions that are inconsistent with each other but are funnily enough, still in Comminsure's favour. These unscrupulous tradespeople have no integrity and have shown absolutely no empathy to the everyday people they are harming. Comminsure have shown us how much of a scam their insurance policies are and they use their power and affiliations to steal from honest hardworking Australian families.
Appalling Service Again!
I have been working on settling the details of my claim for many months, still no satisfaction.
Saturday I received an sms to call Comm Insur which I have done today. Due to the long waits I opted for the callback, well don't bother doing that, because they do call back with I-2 rings when you answer the call ends this has happened 6 times in the last hour. Now I am just holding on.
I was informed on the last call (3 weeks ago), that my claim was being processed. Today after waiting online for 25 minutes I needed to be transferred to another d...
Malicious criminal damage
Beware if you are in Central Victoria and make a claim with CBA. After malicious damage done to my property I had to make my first ever insurance claim. It has not been satisfactory. CBA use the Johns Lyng group in Bendigo and this has been a frustrating experience. Communication extremely poor between CBA and Johns Lyng and myself. I had to organise some jobs myself for safety and security purposes. They would be better off offering a monetary settlement to customers as an option so that we can organise our own tradesmen if we want. Would give CBA and Johns Lyng a 1 star rating each. Beware and I will be changing my Insurer.
Water pipe burst in kitchen
We had a pipe burst in the lower wall of the kitchen. They would only repair what their assessor said was damaged. We had just recently had the house interior painted and a new lock in floor installed. So lucky there was enough boxes of the new floor installed still available for the kitchen otherwise they wouldn’t match the floor that flowed throughout the living rooms. Only replaced the kick boards and skirting in the kitchen but a year on we have gaps between outside kitchen cabinets and side drawers. Their assessor was wrong with the amount...of water damage and we will pay the price. The whole kitchen should have been replaced. We had also just installed new stone bench tops and updated some cabinets before the burst pipe. Honestly you can’t trust insurance companies.
Worst home insurance in the world!!! Beware!
This is the worst experience of insurance I have ever had. I had one claim, comminsure would not pay. Then one day they took $1055 out of my account without my permission and I have still not been refunded. They said they changed my insurance premium to 13 million the the charge was for the change. I did not change my insurance. Overall, no star rating. Comminsure is about taking your money and the team do not want to help you with insurance if you have a real claim. Buyer beware! I am now finding a new insurance company. Do yourself a favour and stay away from Commonwealth Bank Home Insurance.
3 months since original claim and still disputing
Made original claim on 16/10 - floorboard damage. Organised plumber (at own cost) to inspect pipes in case they were leaking and found them not to be.
2 x consultants sent out, neither of which were floor specialists (which they stated in their reports). Both were making factually incorrect statements that could not have been the cause of the damage Claim was rejected in December.
I then escalated to Customer Relations team disputing the decision and was told to provide a report from a certified specialist as my own information wasn't enough.
CommInsure is a waste of time
They do anything to get out of a claim,
For a small patch up job due to storm damage they dragged it out after getting two maintenance people to look at the job.
They will insure you but never pay on 2 accounts. I’m done with them and would advise no one to get house Insurance not bank though them, in process of closing all accounts with them.
Despicable!!! Unethical!!! Immoral!!! Uncaring thieves!!!
Unethical bunch of thieves!!!
Made a claim after forgetting a pot full of food on the stove
It burned on "High" for an hour unattended
House was filled with thick, toxic smoke
Visible smoke has gone
But the house has strong toxic smoke fumes
Causing respiratory problems, carbon monoxide poisoning
10 years of landlord insurance and it took nearly 1 year to finalise a claim
had very bad tenants from December 2018, took them to the tribunal which was ruled in our favour but they managed to request more time and in the end they malicously damaged our house before they left. I put a claim in with CommInsure in February 2019 and advised them how rottened and bad the rental house was left. After more than a week, they still didn't send their accessor out (Segdrick) and so the constant chasing after them on a weekly basis to move the claim process forward started. They promised to respond and never responded unless I ca...n make the time to ring which was very hard because I am a working mum with three young kids. After so many months of stressing, being on the phone and providing endless information that we had given from the beginning. They stetted the last amount in December 2019 and not even covering all the cost involved in fixing and getting our rental property rented again. I have been with them more than 10 years, never made a claim before and yet the claim was lodged in February 2019 and did not finalise until December 2019 and it was only settled because I rang them weekly. At first we had Elders Bankstown realestate did the claim for us but in the end they gave up because no one from CommInsure would give them a clear response in regard to the claim's settlement and the time it took to chase after them was beyond reasonable. CommInsure is part of Commonwealth bank and I only purchased the insurance because of my mortgage portfolio with them. After dealing with them, I have found them to be very immoral in the way they deal with customer and I believe that they have a system of trying to delay the claim process so that eventually the customer would give up due to the stress of dealing with their unapologetic excuses in not paying your your claim. Only now that I can make the time to write a review about them and obviously my purpose is to make sure people take their time researching before buying any CommInsure insurance products. I do not want anyone to be paying more than 10 years of landlord insurance and ended up going through what I went through.
After 20yrs of comminsure we sold our house and purchased another one but due to bushfires comminsure refused to offer insurance on the new home. NRMA insured the property within an hour.
Our policy has more than doubled. Your call center people are saying our property is a farm and we are in a flood zone. Our council report says we are residential and are not in a flood zone. This policy has been in place for several years. We will take all our business elsewhere including our home and investment portfolio .
about Claim of theft
Very bad experience, too much discussion on the claim and still offering 200$ For worth of 2000$ items..and took me 5 months , trying to ripoff. Very fake .
Suggestion, never go with comminsure..
Worst insurance company
I reported storm damage on the 5th October and I had to go to a Commonwealth branch today to find out about my claim - clearly over the set 20 days. The assessor found a small piece of rust on the ground where my fence blew away. CommInsure stated if the rust had not been there my fence would not have blown away in the storm. It was the rust which caused the fence to be blown away - not the 100km hour plus winds which hit our suburb hard for a day. I wonder if all the other fences which blew away in the storm in my area had any rust? There was ...an internal door which was broken in a gust of wind during the storm, CommInsure denied this claim because the storm didn't force its way into my home ( I just went out to try and stop my fence from blowing into the neighbour's house). As I have accidental glass breakage I said claim the door under that cover. The response, no because it was broken during the storm. I don't understand - is it an accident or is it storm damage?!?! Clearly it's one of these reasons and I am covered for both!! My friend has RAC insurance, there was no assessor sent to her home, looking for a reason not to pay the insurance. Her claim was cleared in 4 days and her whole side fence replaced. I only have 3 panels, clearly this is not a user-friendly insurance company. You may as well not be insured, this company doesn't deserve one star.
Terrible insurance company. No help at all.
The worst to deal with when making a claim. 45 mins hold time. Over 1 month to hear back about our claim only to want more documents and jump through hoops. No help at all in a very stressful time. Landlords insurance what a joke, I got nothing back and thousands of dollars of damage.
A company of money guzzling snakes.
My Mother has been with them for over 13 + years, We had an accident with a cat knocking the tv down, when she tried to make a claim to get a new one, they said & I quote "We cant do that unless a stray cat came into the house & knocked it down" ,(So yes like ppl keep saying, they DO come up with any excuse to avoid paying you your own money back. My mum became visibly shaking with anger & hurt because she'd been paying them for years.. and got treated rather rudely.
When she finally cancelled with them, they had the audacity to send a lette...
If I could give zero stars I would. This bank helped themselves to our credit card when we were CBA customers only - not even with Comminsure about 15 years ago and it took months and only an intervention from a bank manager to get our money back (not a small amount either) ever since then on and off I've been trying to get my elderly parents to get rid of this company....well this year after being with them for years and paying their over inflated insurance premiums in good faith my parents tried to submit a claim for water damage to a bathro...om. That old chestnut "lack of maintenance" came out and then they had the audacity to inform them not to bother claiming the damaged carpet ( a result of the water damage) because they wouldn't be paying that either. Have serious doubts as to whether the young lady who rejected the claim even knew what grout was when she rang to inform us our claim was being rejected. The report on the house didn't even state the correct type of building and the photos from the "2 preferred building inspectors" were quite obviously copied between the 2 even though they were from 2 different companies. We would have happily fought this company if it wasn't for the delay which we can ill afford and having read the reviews all over the internet and facebook my folks are quite obviously not the only ones to have wasted their money with this company. Happily we now are saving over $40 a month with higher cover with another Insurer.

We lost our house in the recent bushfires on the 21/12/19. We put in our claim the next day and we are still waiting. If our case worker is claiming that he is waiting for a building assessment isn’t it his responsibility to chase it? WHAT CAN I DO ? I am very disappointed that it has taken 3 months. We need to rebuild!!
I pay monthly via direct debit from COMMONWEALTH account, I forgot to transfer money and the payment has been reversed, will the direct debit try again or what do I have to do?
