Totally disgraceful
After 20yrs of comminsure we sold our house and purchased another one but due to bushfires comminsure refused to offer insurance on the new home. NRMA insured the property within an hour.

Our policy has more than doubled. Your call center people are saying our property is a farm and we are in a flood zone. Our council report says we are residential and are not in a flood zone. This policy has been in place for several years. We will take all our business elsewhere including our home and investment portfolio .

Worst insurance company
I reported storm damage on the 5th October and I had to go to a Commonwealth branch today to find out about my claim - clearly over the set 20 days. The assessor found a small piece of rust on the ground where my fence blew away. CommInsure stated if the rust had not been there my fence would not have blown away in the storm. It was the rust which caused the fence to be blown away - not the 100km hour plus winds which hit our suburb hard for a day. I wonder if all the other fences which blew away in the storm in my area had any rust? There was ...Read more
an internal door which was broken in a gust of wind during the storm, CommInsure denied this claim because the storm didn't force its way into my home ( I just went out to try and stop my fence from blowing into the neighbour's house). As I have accidental glass breakage I said claim the door under that cover. The response, no because it was broken during the storm. I don't understand - is it an accident or is it storm damage?!?! Clearly it's one of these reasons and I am covered for both!! My friend has RAC insurance, there was no assessor sent to her home, looking for a reason not to pay the insurance. Her claim was cleared in 4 days and her whole side fence replaced. I only have 3 panels, clearly this is not a user-friendly insurance company. You may as well not be insured, this company doesn't deserve one star.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Terrible insurance company. No help at all.
The worst to deal with when making a claim. 45 mins hold time. Over 1 month to hear back about our claim only to want more documents and jump through hoops. No help at all in a very stressful time. Landlords insurance what a joke, I got nothing back and thousands of dollars of damage.

A company of money guzzling snakes.
My Mother has been with them for over 13 + years, We had an accident with a cat knocking the tv down, when she tried to make a claim to get a new one, they said & I quote "We cant do that unless a stray cat came into the house & knocked it down" ,(So yes like ppl keep saying, they DO come up with any excuse to avoid paying you your own money back. My mum became visibly shaking with anger & hurt because she'd been paying them for years.. and got treated rather rudely.
When she finally cancelled with them, they had the audacity to send a lette...Read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This bank helped themselves to our credit card when we were CBA customers only - not even with Comminsure about 15 years ago and it took months and only an intervention from a bank manager to get our money back (not a small amount either) ever since then on and off I've been trying to get my elderly parents to get rid of this company....well this year after being with them for years and paying their over inflated insurance premiums in good faith my parents tried to submit a claim for water damage to a bathro...Read more
om. That old chestnut "lack of maintenance" came out and then they had the audacity to inform them not to bother claiming the damaged carpet ( a result of the water damage) because they wouldn't be paying that either. Have serious doubts as to whether the young lady who rejected the claim even knew what grout was when she rang to inform us our claim was being rejected. The report on the house didn't even state the correct type of building and the photos from the "2 preferred building inspectors" were quite obviously copied between the 2 even though they were from 2 different companies. We would have happily fought this company if it wasn't for the delay which we can ill afford and having read the reviews all over the internet and facebook my folks are quite obviously not the only ones to have wasted their money with this company. Happily we now are saving over $40 a month with higher cover with another Insurer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Used to be good not anymore!!!
Have been with CommInsure for 12 years have made a few minor claims no problem, but had some minor storm damage got it inspected decided not to worry about and was then told it was lack of maintenance so no cover anyway because some leaves were blocking a drain but what if the storm blew them in their no response. Am going else where.

I never know Supplement exists until I made a claim.
My house got a break-in, all my wedding jewelries were stolen, it's really heart-broken for me, but what made this situation even worse is after many phone calls and 4 months' waiting time, I was told I can only get 20% worth of my stolen jewelries cover, I read the PDS carefully, and it ( maximum 20% of stolen jewelries) is not written in PDS. When I called CommonInsure, I was told it's written in Supplement of PDS, which I never received by mail or email ( I was told it's been sent to me by your staff.)
Plus, my policy needs to renew recently...Read more

Wish I could score it as 0.
I have a pipe leaking and the insurance assessment took over 4 months and rejected it in the end with some irrelevant and ridiculous reasons. The assessment report doesn't even include any photos mentioned in the report. Very very bad experience. They have also increased the fee from 70/month to 92 in 2 years time.

Total fraud and rip off. Never trust these guys.
I have been with comminsure for number of years for building and contents.
Put my claims for aircons and floor repairs. It took so many months and comm insure is not willing to pay for the claims worth of approximately $8K for silly reasons. Total rip off and fraudulent.

excellence in the extreme
We experienced having to evacuate our home due to the bush fires in our area in country Victoria.
As we had only relocated to this property four months prior, we were unfamiliar with bush fires and how they can effect your circumstances. When we returned to the property we experienced a thunder storm
which we thought was great. How ever we did not understand that it caused all of our stored tank water to be carbonized by the falling rain. So all of our 66,000 liters of water were black with carbon. As we had only switched our insurance cover...Read more

Madness
Monthly instalments have increased from $62 in 2017 to $87 in 2018 and just received a renewal for $118. Just cancelled the policy. That’s ludicrous. An increase of more than 50% in 2 years.

Rip off and disgusting
As a customer I have been with Comm bank for 10 years and took Home and contents Insurance 4 years back along with Housing loan I am with Zero claims but still they increased my premium to $1400 from $1027. I have called the customer service and the guy said there will be an increase of 6% every year which I agreed but he was not able to justify why there is an increase of $373 from last year. I have cancelled the policy and moved to Woolworths at a cheaper cost saving almost $560

Waste of time, you will be paying them for nothing.
We have been with CommInsure for 7 years as it was a great tie in with our mortgage, that was our first mistake. We were young and naive and 3 out of 4 claims through the years have been rejected. We thought this was normal at first and accepted it when they told us these things were our fault. The only claim they did cover was fencing that blew down in the storm however even then they only allowed for the section that actually fell not the parts that cracked along the bottom either side of the hole (which the fence repairers we had quote th...Read more
e job said they should of). As soon as the fencer removed the capping double the amount they allowed for fell over as well and "it wasn't damaged by the storm" was what they had to say about it. They make you get all your own quotes and organise all your own repairers and I'm sorry but from what I'm hearing other insurance companies have preferred contractors that will come and quote up the repairs for you and then do the repairs if you dont have time to fish around for the best price. Now that we have had a serious claim that caused some real damage to our home being rejected we know enough is enough and they will weasel out of anything they can, to not pay out a cent. Run from CommInsure RUN FAR AWAY!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

How much does it cost to insure a vacant house that’s on the market to sell?

I’d love to know how we can escalate this further with all these horrible reviews. This is a top 4 bank scamming people!

The best way to deal with Comminsure or financial company is to involve the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) (ombudsman). They are independent in the decision making process and will enforce them to pay up if you have a legitimate claim. It’s worked twice for me and each time CBA had to pay up.
