This company are cheats and liars
I don't know wear to start
Had water damage due to a storm to my alfresco roof and inside of house. Alfresco roof has been repaired but not plaster damage inside of house
CBA says it's not due to storm
There assessor has said it's structural and not due to storm
We had a independent report done and said it is water damage from storm
Can't believe what this company has put us through it's been 10 months. I paid my access signed the contract of repairs and didn't deliver
We will be going to current affairs with this . Can't believe such a big company has such a poor rating and how they get away with it.

The worst
Had a leak from roof with water damage to ceiling, had roof restored 7 years ago claim was rejected due to silicone under one tile from before roof restoration, have been with this insurance for many years, not any more, a rip off. Don't go there !

What a joke!
Submitted a claim to fix some plaster damaged by water leak from balcony which has since been attended to. Rejected claim totally. Same thing happened 10 years ago and we were covered by another insurance. Regret we ever changed! Most other companies fix the result of leaks. Hopeless. Will be leaving them ASAP.

Please Read reviews, Wrongful Claim Rejection like others
I always thought people come to product review just to complain - until i realise I should be checking on what type of complaints. If you notice CommInsure reviews, most of the comments are about them rejecting claims un-necessarily, whilst at other insurers its more about premium increases.
Trust me, you would take premium increase over claim rejections any day. Like others, we had a roof leak during a Storm. We only moved into this house 6 months ago and its a 10 year old house with newish roof. CBA still rejected the claim.
The key probl...
Read moreem is their business structure - as they are a hands off call centre. After filing the claim, you will have to run around after them for updates, their restorers, then multiple roofers, then Claim Central which is basically paid by CBA on helping them identifying T&C to avoid the payment. The worst part is that their restorers took all of our furniture on premise that its written off and will be replaced by the insurer. And now 6 weeks since it happened, we are still chasing and there is no sign of payment or our old furniture. The call centre waiting time for buying the policy is 30 seconds, and for claims its more than an hour. You take the call.Disgusting, unreliable service, avoid like a plague
A friend recently managed to hit my retaining wall with her car, and put through a claim through her insurance. RACV has promptly approved her claim. RACV also told my friend that I have to put a claim through Comminsure for the wall repair and forward the bill to RACV. This wasn’t suppose to have any impact on my insurance rating. Guess what Comminsure wanted me to pay not only an excess, but also informed me that this claim will affect my claim rating. Honestly, no interest in helping their customer. Comminsure stated that it’s their standard...
Read more procedure even after I told them that this was what was told to me by the other party’s insurance. I have told Comminsure to forget about the claim, because they obviously don’t care about their customer beyond the fact I have paid my bills to them. Now I have to ask tradesman myself for a quote for repair and forward the quote to RACV for reimbursement. Since Comminsure has forgotten that I am their customer, I will be now taking all three of my home insurances to other company. Fool me once, but never again! Shame on you Comminsure!Michelle South-Eastern Region, NSW
Absolutely Terrible, Refuse Claims
I made a claim on a room in 2019 that has been delayed due to storms .
The Group sent out to access were very promising and I believed the room would be covered by Comminsure.
Comminsure knocked us back because the roof was not on the right pitch so during storms the water was getting in the roof and pooling and caused damage that wasn't noticeable until after some time.In November 2020 I got in contacted with another builder to get a quote on fixing the damage,He advised me to claim it on insurance and said that I can't claim the cause being t...

What A Rip-Off
We just got our annual renewal and for the 3rd year in a row the premium has gone up a ridiculous amount .. this year .. 27% .. when I call, I get a garbage story about re-assessing risks and ratings in my street and area blah blah ... when I challenge the data they refuse to disclose it and then ask me if they can reduce my premium by raising my excess, so for giggles I say "lets have a look" .. so they take the excess from $300 to $500 and amazingly my premium went down by the exact same amount...... CommBank should start being embarrassed ov...
Read moreer the price gouging activities they undertake and after seeing effectively seeing our premium go from $1700 in 2017 to $5800 four years later without any significant events, jumps in crime (our area went down) etc .. this is an absolute joke.Jon

Very slow claim response and sharp yearly increases in rates.
I purchased home&contents from Commbank due to convenience and at that time good values (3 years ago). I recently had storm damage to my roof and put in a claim. It was assessed properly, but then no response. The damage was limited, but would allow rainwater into the roof causing more damage. As I did not hear from the company, I had it fixed myself (for less than the excess). Almost 2 months later the report came back that I would need to pay the full excess and then they would arrange for the repair.
The premium increases were in the order of 10% per year without good reason

WILL FIND A WAY NOT TO PAY OUT
had a burnt out motor that caused irreplaceable damage to a roller door.
Their take after 20 days of no contact? door damaged itself and took the motor with it.
Why was that their take? because while I'm covered for a burnt out motor, I'm not covered for general wear and tear. They bend the rules to suit themselves, stay clear whatever you do. If you have no camera proof of cause they will do whatever they can to dismiss, your word means nothing.

Dreadful claim process
Had building insurance with CommInsure for many years and not had to make a claim until now. Had some damage from a fridge leak to timber floors. Understandably they sent an assessor out. Didn’t like the answer the assessor gave them but waited 10 business days after receiving the assessor’s report before advising they had internally assessed the cost at a lower figure and wanted another assessor to come out. Other assessor came out eventually ( hard to get an appointment due to storm damage claims) and then eventually rang us to ask us to comp...
Read morelete paperwork for them to arrange trades. They couldn’t tell me what the scope of work was so I said I wouldn’t sign the paperwork without knowing what they proposed to do. Heard nothing further so rang CommInsure again. Case manager said, I can’t tell you what’s happening with the claim but we have another 10 business days to respond from receiving information from second assessor. No empathy, no effort to expedite the claim. It just goes on and on. Still don’t know the outcome but my policy is due for renewal shortly and I certainty won’t be renewing with Comminsure Look elsewhere for cover, there must be better options.Deceptive and unreasonable
Insured with Comminsure for Home only. Paid for the policy for two years however during storms this winter a box gutter broke and water came in to the house. CBA allege that the storm didn't cause the water ingress. I point out that before the storm there wasn't any water ingress. They send an assessor who turns up without a ladder to inspect the box gutter. I lend him my ladder and after inspection he says he expects the claim will be honored. A week later another assessor turns up to over rule the first assessor. I would not trust this company to pay anyone and you may note that most of the good reviews are from years ago

The crappiest insurer
Quite pricey insurance. The product I had with CBA was for $1.1M with very less cover and it has now costed me less than than with Seniors Insurance with insured amount of $1.5M
stay away from CBA is all I can say due to substandard experience

All excuses in d book used by cba
I have been with cba for over 8 years now, never once did i make any claim (cause it was never required). Last month and the following forthnights due to all those stormy and damaging winds caused damages to my house. So i put in a claim with comminsure to get it repaired, instead of doing the real work which is fixing the customers issue they started looking for all type of excuses not to pass the claim.
Today a comminsure agent called me saying we have rejected your claim as the issue is caused due to improper work carried out during constr...
Read moreuction of house. when I asked her further to explain it to me,she was like the builder who visited your house has said in his report that the damages are caused because of construction fault. I clearly remember that when I asked the builder that "how soon can you carry out the work". He was like cause the damages are not major i will be sending a report to the bank and they should get the work started soon as there is no reason for them to decline the claim. Never have I ever dealt with such pathetic and ridiculous organisation, and never again will I be dealing with CBA. Save yourself the trouble by NEVER going with coominsure again. Could not be happier with the service!
Roof and ceiling leak from a storm December 2019..... Just took me a while to post on product review.
Replaced my ceiling, ceiling vats, painted all ceilings and walls that were affected. Fixed roof and replaced my whirly bird.
Appointed builders were Patterson builders, amazing!
Professional, courteous, timely.
Recommendation 100%

They are only good on increasing the monthly payment, NOTHING else.
Unfortunately, there is no option as zero star, one star just too much for them, my first claim was about my bore water pump broke, I was just bought the house then, they were asking me ridiculous requests, then they rejected my claim because I couldn't prove that the pump was working for more than ten years.
Second claim was that I had water leak because of a storm, they have even denied there was a storm (like if the storm was on house only), then they came up with silly reason, they said my solar system (which is on different side of my hou...
Read morese, far away end) what cause the leak not the storm, I've requested the decision to be reviewed again, I sent them a picture of my house roof showing that the solar system on side and the leak on other side, then they said the leak because of some broken tiles, I never had the leak problem before the storm, not even after. totally waste of my money and time, stay as away as you can from this provider.Find out how Commonwealth Bank Home Insurance compares to other Home and Contents Insurance

They don't care about you at all
When we buy insurance, our least expectation is the insurance company supports us and our family, not leaving us alone with our problems. We pay insurance sometimes for several decades without claiming any request. But if once in a blue moon, we have an issue, we need to have a feeling that the insurance company will support us.
I bought home insurance from Commonwealth Bank Home Insurance for our new home. One day the wind speed was over 50km, and unfortunately, the garage ceiling plasterboard collapsed. I called the insurance company to come...

Horrible service,Do not waste your time and money
Been with them for 32 years made 1 claim of shower leak and it’s took 11 months for them to hand the bathroom back.
The whole experience was just horrible.
rang comminsure several times regarding all the issues and why it was taking so long but they were no helpful at all.
Builder and cba were not taking ownership for and thing. It was like a big joke to them and they did not care at all. If it takes them nearly 11 months just for a small claim god help people with bigger claims.
It takes 24hrs for a reply after any phone call taken. And then no one knows what they are doing.
Please before you purchase do your research they are the most expensive insurance provider and absolutely rubbish.
A very very stressful experience.
Terrible Customer Service- do not even go near this company to get an insurance
I have been with Commonwealth for some time and now just requested multiple times to change details of policy and promised me to provide the certificate of currency multiple times yet no response. This is even after 4 separate calls
An agent even apparently blaming their system that it was not working and promised he will call back within the same day yet again no call back.
I have to call back again and the same story and told me me someone will be calling me. I declined and told me them I don't trust them that they will call me because of...
Read more what happened and after more than 40 minutes on the phone, I have asked for the manager and the agent this time was really annoyed at me when I asked until what what time he wants to me to wait . She gave me such an attitude saying, you just need wait longer . I asked politely why she was doing that and seemed arguing with me and she told i was the one arguing with her. What a crappy customer service.. If that is even exist. I can;t believe CBA have gone this low in their customer service. I was previously proud that i was associated with CBA and now I will start distancing myself from these crappy company! Todate, I have not got any resolution, In the meantime I am cancelling my insurance with CBA.Will FishSouth-Eastern Region, NSW

Any small claim and up goes the premium
Switched to Comminsure a couple of years ago for home and contents insurance, and renewal arrived the other day. Went online to compare premium they quoted me (an existing customer) with premium quoted for a new customer (with exactly the same details), and new customer would get exactly same policy nearly $200 cheaper per annum. Phoned them to discuss. Because we made a small claim ($750 paid, half what we claimed) for food loss during the bushfires, our policy goes up $200 per year - apparently forever!!!! Serious??? Yes, that is how it works with CommInsure, and I am now looking for another insurer. Suggest you do also.
That's is a terrible home content insurance
I have been with this insurance for several years without any claim. I recently got my TV accidentally damaged by my boy (2.5 years old). I made a claiming form and then received a letter to increase my monthly fee. I think that is the way they get my money monthly and pay back to me when I have an accident. However, I just received a phone call from them that they don't pay for accidentally damaged claiming. Why do the insurance not pay for for accident damage and why do they just want to get more and more money from clients, but don't want to...
Read more pay any back to help clients when they are in need. Buying insurance is for safe when accidents occur. But not with Commonwealth Bank Insurance. I will not trust them and will stop from soon. Terrible service.Questions & Answers

do i need to let the bank know i have solar panel
1 answer
You should check the pds of the insurance policy that you have. Generally solar panels will be covered by your home insurance policy. If you have just installed solar panels, you may need to contact your insurer and increase the sum insured
