65k and still going strong – This is a long term review based on 65000 kilometres of driving on my Copers. They are getting near the end of their life but I'm confident that they have at least another 10000 kilometres left in them. My Pajero came fitted with the usual highway tyres which were actually quite alright. They were quiet and steered really well and helped to give… Read more
the car really good fuel consumption. I was happy with the highway tyres until I tried my first steep gravel road. The car slipped and struggled and spat stones out at an alarming rate. Not good. Time to change. I looked around and making a short story of it I decided on the light duty Cooper AT/3's. My first fear was noise. Pajeros are not a quiet car and I didn't really want to add to the noise levels. After fitting the Coopers, I was pleasantly surprised that they were nice and quiet. They made a different noise to the originals but were no louder. Now that they are nearly worn out, I can state that they are still quiet and pleasant on the road. Many reviews that I've read state that they get noisy as they wear but this is not my experience. My next concern was fuel consumption. I'd been told to expect an increase in fuel usage due to the extra resistance (friction) from the more aggressive tread compared to highway tyres. Once fitted, I closely monitored my fuel use and can report that there was zero increase in fuel use. This was unexpected but very welcome. Again, now near the end of their life, the Coopers are still returning the same consumption that they did when new. The bulk of my driving has been on road with a mix of gravel roads and fire trails. The Coopers are really predictable on the highway and steer really well. Some reports that I've seen state that Coopers are not good in the wet but this is not my experience. They've performed well on wet roads and haven't become slippery. My feeling is that they are a great wet road tyre. On gravel they have performed really well. They seem to be happy with loose stony tracks and feel quite safe. On one occasion we had to drive across the side of a mountain on no road at all on a mix of grass and very loose dirt and we never lost grip. It is really a matter of driving to the conditions. We tow a camper trailer with 160kg on the ball whilst the car is fully loaded. We've done thousands of kilometres like this. I expected the tyres to suffer (especially the rears as Pajero IRS can be hard on tyres when loaded). We had no issues whatsoever in regard to uneven wear. The tyres now are perfectly evenly worn across the full width of the tread. There are no cuts or nicks in the tread and I'm happy to continue using them with confidence until they are worn out. For some reason Cooper tyres get rather polarising reviews; either love them or hate them. All I can say is that my experience is very positive and I'll fork out the cash for a new set when these ones die. I tend to think that sometimes people think that they can abuse tyres and expect them to last but nothing will survive being poorly treated nor being badly driven. We've always driven to the conditions and have been rewarded with long lasting, safe tyres.
Buy something else – Tyres didn’t wear well at all, less than 40k out of a set Tyres were pretty good performance and noise wise when first fitted but as they wore they got a real rumble At the RRP really not worth the coin as you will get better longevity from a cheaper tyre and the performance was not any better than the OEM tyre Show details
Good tyres – Just put another set of these coopers at3 on my 200 series landcruiser. I was very impressed with the first set i had, they lasted 80k and are nice and quiet on the road. Before the coopers i has a set of mickey thompsons only lasted 50k and howled like a dog on heat. Show details
so far so good – The tyres are very quiet on the road & very grippy weather your on a dry or wet road they look great, have them on my 4wd went on the beach & they preformed great on the sand when aired gown to 18 psi i will buy them again hopefully about 90.000 k from now. Show details
Tyres appear ok but punctuated one tyre after 3000 kms – Concerned that tyres will last if you get a puncture. Performance to car concerning lucky I have a jeep with tyre monitors probably should have run it until it destroyed itself rather than trying to save tyre. No response back from Coopers. Tyre at my local dealership. Rang my tyre dealer in ballarat and was told to take it to Cooper tyre dealer… Read more
in QLD. Told it had a hole in it but it spiked the Internal casing. Puncture was in middle of tread. Returned tyre to supplying dealer to have s look at who confirmed hole through tread but casing internally was damaged. Main concern no feedback from Coopers regarding a $300 tyre. Hope the other tyres don't get punctures for the next 76000 kms
GREAT All Rounders! – Finally upgraded and bought a set of these A/T3's for my 2016 PXII Ranger about six months ago and I have to say I'm more than pleased with them. No loss in traction on road - wet or dry, road noise isn't too bad even with windows down imo and I've had zero issues in the soft sand of Bribie Island's inland track. On bush tracks I think they have… Read more
proven their worth too over sharpish rocks and tree roots etc without puncture. Will def buy them again next round!
4th set – I have been running these tyres for 6 years now, I do 85,000km a year and find these are the best going around. I generally change them over at the 100,000kms and they are still going well and useable, they stick in the wet and have smooth quiet ride, what else could you ask for???? Thanks Cooper Tyres Show details
Good life from my Cooper tyres – Not the normal 4x4 driver anymore, my Colorado 4X4 diesel ute is 95% of the time on the highway between Newcastle and Singleton. My ute is stock standard, no modifications and is not loaded. A basic commuter for most of its life, with the occasional Camping trip towing a fully loaded trailer. This set of tyres have got me just over 115000klm. They… Read more
have been great and get rotated about every 25000klm. Never lost any pressure and held up well. They still have about 4mm of tread left on them but are getting slippery in the wet, so new ones have been ordered. Comparing to a standard road tyre my preference is to pay a little more for the AT/3 which gives better sidewall and long life over the creature comforts of the road tyre (less noise and a bit smoother). I bought a Ute not a car so I should expect this noise and handling. Reliable yes indeed, peace of mind tick. these all help when you rack up many klm each year and dodge the wildlife.
Great tyre – These tyres i tried due to a good deal at the time. I have put on 92000klms and probly still got anotner 5000ks left. Noisy but worth the sacrafice for the extra kilometers. Definately buying these again. Great allrounder.Would recomend these tyres to anyone. I barely get 45000klm from previous brands. Show details
Awesome, get the L/T construction though – I've had these on my car and done various types of off road driving. These tyres are an awesome all terrain tyre and have lasted great. I'm on 75,000kms and reckon I'll get 10k more. Sidewalls are tough and have handled being staked by rocks and stumps. My only gripe is they are expensive but like 'they' say, you get what you pay for. Will definitely get another set. Show details
Junk! – Whilst these tyres were great on road, I did one weekend in the high country in the Pajero and two failed. One burst a sidewall and the other tore the tread clean off, both resulting in instant punctures. I'm not a rough off roader by any means but these tyres should be able to handle basic off roading. I would have been in big trouble if mates wheel hadn't fitted my car. took them off as soon as I got home. Show details
No Warranty or After Sales Support – One tyre developed a sidewall bubble after only 10,000km. The local dealer came up with every excuse under the sun that it was a driver problem and not the tyre. Needless to say I've never returned to that dealer nor purchased Coopers again. No warranty or after sales support. No Warranty or after sales support. Show details
Loose traction on front in wet around corners...at 50km/h – I took these tyres of the front after constantly loosing traction in wet around corners at probably less then 50 km/h. Yes wear very well - probably because they are so hard which is no good in the wet! I thought no good to only have tyres that wear well if the car has gone off the road into a tree or something Show details

Very happy with A/T3 – I put 4 x Cooper A/T3 light duty on my Suzuki Grand Vitara 2 years ago. After 60,000km the tyres still have heaps of tread left. The original 5 Bridgestones struggled to last 37000km. I do rotate often and keep a close eye on pressures but the car has never had a wheel alignment done. I have not noticed any decrease in performance as the tyres… Read more
have worn. They have performed perfectly in all conditions but it is the grip on road in heavy rain and on wet dirt roads that has impressed me the most. The Coopers are a little noisy when new but they are an AT tyre so that is expected. As they have worn the noise has decreased. On road, sand, dirt or off road, the tyres have been perfect. I often tow a 1200kg camper so rear tyres are at 40psi and fronts at 32psi and these pressures seem to work best. Will I buy them again? YES, but next time I will buy 5 instead of just 4.
Seem to get bad with age – Unlike a fine wine, these seem to age badly. The tyre's still have plenty of tread left, however have slight cracks from age. The absolute worst thing about them is in the wet they are dangerous. I went around a roundabout yesterday in heavy rain and I could feel them start to give way. I was shocked especially as it has still alot of tread. I… Read more
wasn't even trying to push them.
The other negative is despite rotating them often, they still have a slight howl to them which gets a tad annoying long distance.
Good value – Now at just over 60,000 km on these which is the mileage guarantee for my car. Probably another 20,000 left in them which is great as I've not really looked after them at all - they've only been rotated twice. My only gripes are they're getting noisy with wear. Probably not as good as a softer compound in the wet but nothing dangerous. Show details
A/T3 - Yes Please! – I originally bought my A/T3's for my 2006 Holden Adventra LX6, but swapped them over to my current car after 5000kms. They have now done around 35,000kms with next to no visible wear, at this distance on the original Bridgestones I would be buying a new set. The A/T3's hold on very well on the bitumen, wet or dry, and there is very little noise… Read more
from the tyres. Off-road is where these tyres really shine making the AWD Adventra much more capable than most people would give them credit for. Gripes - so far none other than the limited places to buy them, I'm guessing by having them only available through Tyrepower enables them to be kept artificially high, especially when comparing them to other brands. When these tyres wear out I will then decide whether I will stick with them, but so far they've been great.

best money tyre money can buy for a 4x4 – I have now done 69669 klms the 27/10/14, on this set of coopers and they are just under half tread. this is even better than the previous set, I am looking to get at least 120000 ks which to my mind make this the best tyre my money can buy. November 11th 2017 Update: nearly time to change well I will be changing these tyres probably before… Read more
xmas as of today they have done 112035ks on my patrol and they have been on this patrol since 27/11/14 so nearly 3 years, am i happy with the tyres? that would be yep, am i going to replace them with the coopers A/T3 yep any Tyre that you get 100,000ks plus has to be a huge bonus
Great tyre BUT you've got to choose the light truck (LT) type – I'm on my second pair of cooper AT's, my first pair only lasted a bit over 45,000ks and I learnt a valuable lesson. Only ever look for light truck variants, the others are passenger vehicle tyres and not built as strong and also you can see in the specs the tread depth is much deeper on an LT. Second set are LT's and currently at 95,000k's with… Read more
probably 15% left on them. Been all through the outback on major trips and never had a puncture. One drive from Longreach to Alice via the plenty highway I was the only 4WD out of 11 to not get a puncture.
Worst tyre ever – Well I don’t know how they say 80,000kms? I've only done 32,000kms on a set of A/T3 and they have had it, just had to order a new set of tires from my local garage – NOT Coopers, they must be the worst tires I’ve ever had. As other person said OK for first 20,000kms then went downhill. Show details
Extremely Happy – Fitted 5 X AT3 to our Nissan Navara dual cab have just replaced them with 5 more couldn't be any happier as we completed 125,000kms, the men from Tyrepower said they could of gone a further 8-10k more but we replaced them as the compound seemed hard, and due to the fact living in the tropics we weren't going to risk the slippery roads...Great Tyres guys. Built in flat spots – I bought Cooper AT3 225/75R16 for Jeep XJ Cherokee 3 years ago based on good experience with the Cooper AT (265/70R15) having done 86000 trouble free km on mud sand and on road over period of 5 years on a previous vehicle. Presumed AT3 would be a better tyre from specifications. AT3 must be made by different company. At about 20000 km all 5 (yes 5… Read more
- I use 5 wheel rotation pattern every max 10.000 km) tyres became out of round with a flat spot about 300mm long and for the width of the tread. Cooper dealer stated that all 5 of my Jeep alloy rims are out of round? 2 tyres are wearing faster than the other three. Having persisted with this to the current 50,000 km, the vibration in the vehicle can no longer be balanced out. The only way to ignore the "woop woop woop" is to turn up the music and hope the road surface remains rough bitumen. Smooth tar, i.e. freeways, exaggerate the "woopy shakes". Fact not fiction. Cooper you've lost a customer here. This owner of many vehicles with tyre sizes ranging from 155R12 (Datsun 1200) to 11R22.5 (12 metre luxury touring coach with dual tag axle - 10 tyres on road) has never had such a woeful experience with a manufacturer or dealer!

Disappointed – I fitted a set of these on my Hyundai Santa Fe, I tow an expanda off road caravan and needed extra grip. I had my only puncture soon after when a stick went right through the tread and ruined the tyre. This was in my drive way! The grip has been good in rough stuff but my biggest complaint is the very high noise levels, this sounds as if all the… Read more
wheel bearings have gone at once. They are about half worn now and getting worse by the day. I won't fit them again.
No punctures on Gibb – Bought 4 x AT3 for trip. Did Gibb, (towing 2.4t van) Mitchell, Kalumburu, Mornington, Bullita Homestead, Wolfe Creek and some of Tanami and many other NP dirt roads.I followed Cooper tyre pressure recommendations. No punctures in 20,000 km. Van had Cooper STTs and did most of above. Followed Cooper tyre pressure advice. No punctures there either. Show details
Love Cooper Tyre – I have run with Cooper S/T on my GU Patrol Wagon now for 83000 km with out a problem. Have driven some of the worst tracks in Australia with no worries. I have now also own a Patrol Ute which I have just fitted A/T3s to and enjoying the feeling that I have purchased the best tyres on the market. The trick to long life out of any tyre is to rotating them every 10,000 km. Would not run anything else on my cars. Happy Travels. Show details
Done 76000 km on cooper at/3 no punctures no major damage – So now 76000km on the cooper at/3 tyres. Have done alot of 4wding on them from rocky creek beds to sand. Cant fault them , the wear has been even, no punctures, tough sidewalls and quiet on road. Will be going same again, you get what you pay for and i'm not willing to put my money into a cheaper product. Show details
I brought the Cooper A/3 tyres in 2014 and they have been fantastic. So far I have got around 69,000 – The Cooper A/3 are noisy on tar but great on dirt they definitely hold the road well I would recommend them to anyone I put them on my Rodeo 4wd. The reason I wanted good Tyre's was because I went across to Perth and back. They are a great Tyre and very safe. But it is almost time for new ones so going hunting but looking at the A3'S AGAIN FIRST.
Cooper A/T 3 - can't fault them – I have the A/T 3's on my 90 series Prado, and have had for the last 2 years now. I can not fault them. Have never let me down off road, however we keep it pretty mild... And on the highway they are fabulous. I will replace them with a more aggressive set of A/T's next time however this is only personal choice not by lack of ability in the A/T 3's.
Seven flats in under 20000 km – Horrible tyres this my on the road car five flat on the tar Rip the side out last time had to replace it going with back to Goodyear a lot better tyres.
Poor value for money – We bought these for 18" wheels on WK Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have no problems with how they perform, as a full time 4wd doesn't really have much traction issues. I also had no problem ploughing through the sand on Fraser Island during a very dry period. The problem is longevity. We have had these tyres for about 40000kms and now need to replace… Read more
them. I fell for their marketing campaign about longevity, but next I will get just get advice from tyre fitters, and ignore brand names. Summary - not worth their premium price.
Terrible! – I had these put on my 2005 Range Rover a while back. At first, they weren't bad, but nothing to rave about. After approx 40-60% of the tread wore! it was as if the tire changed compounds. It was that slippery that I couldn't go around a wet roundabout without sending the electronic program's into turmoil. Also, the ride went rubbish, steering was… Read more
like a wet dog that had just been run over, road noise was significant, and engine vibrations were increased. After changing to Yokohama Geolanders, the car is much smoother, quieter and nicer to drive. Not to mention safer. The yokahama at/s is much better! Getting rid of them Road noise, sloppy handling, poor grip, bad ride
Very Dissapointing Tyres – I purchased a set of AT3 265/60/R18 for my 2008 Mitsuibishi Pajero approximately June 2012. On a trip to the Simpson desert I suffered two punctures rendering both tyres unusable. The first was ripped open on an unmade road. The second tyres steel belts broke. Cooper Tyres Australia accepted liability for the second problem and replaced the tyre.… Read more
I am now in North Qld and have suffered another tyres steel belt snapping causing a puncture and having to be replaced. This time the Coopers rep. claimed because the tyre were not purchased through one of their agents then their was no liability protection for the manufacturers faulty tyres. I could chase Coopers America if I wanted to take the matter further. This was a complete reversal of their previous position.
My experience with Cooper Tyres has not matched the rhetoric in their advertising. Nether in number of kms you could reasonably be expected and the poor standard of manufacture.
I cannot recommend these tyres to anybody. Less road noise Poor manufacture. Short life span and subject to easy puncturing.
