Need help Looking for a awning 2008 cub weekender
We just bought a Cub Kamparoo weekender trailer.. How do you prevent spiders and snakes getting into the gaps around the edges (2009 model)? Haven’t used ours yet.
Snakes are so timid they wont come near you and spiders out there are harmless. Never had a spider in our van or tent in 60 years.
Thanks, Alan. We’ve used it a fair bit now, and haven’t had any issues either.
How to fold down cub kameroo camper that doesn’t have winder
Why does my canvas door always look twisted on my cub camparoo 2011 model. Zip always hard to do up
Yes, canvas fit is always a problem, make sure the door is fully zipped up after you have entered to extend the internal arms.
Why does my door always look twisted and siz hard to do up on my cub camparoo 2011
Keep the door zip fully closed when you push up, and out on the rear bow. Put a bit of effort into placing the corner poles. I posted a video on the Cub site of a perfect far wall, and a door zip that goes up, and down as easy as. I use guy ropes on the offside before I erect the awning. Awning ropes need only go straight down, as the frames keep the shape. Short pole on the bed-end bow. I carry a few timber pads to help with levelling the floor. Resets are a last resort, that are rarely needed. Practice, and patience. Canvas expands with heat, and will shrink overnight. Lift the roof a touch over the zip when closing, as needed. Chassis paint; a divider between kitchen, and under-bed storage have been my only problems. Love our Cub. Pop.
How do you secure the awning when it is thrown over the camper We do not want to use it every night
Well the winch strap will help to hold the awning in place as long as it is firm over the awning and roof. Otherwise make sure no air gaps where the wind can get under the awning and blow it off the roof.
How to pull down for first time? From inside I take out inner poles then under do wing nuts to slide poles back into place but when we ratchet strap it doesn’t seem to Just fold freely down. I’m frustrated
Lower the door bar and lock in down position. Drop the back bar and lock both sides. Undo all clips and elastic loops. Leave the door unzipped a couple of feet to let the air out. Should be fine to close it. Don't push all your canvas in until it's at least half closed. Be sure to use the roller at the front for the last metre or so. Some resistance is normal, just keep an eye on your canvas.
Pop seems to have the right idea. When you undo the the two screw on the back bar you pull the back bar in until only about 150mm is sticking out evenly each side. Then I try to get the ratchet strap in the centre of the roof to pull evenly on both sides. Also make sure right around the lower canvas edges have been disconnected and the door is open to allow the air to escape easily. Cub have an instruction manual that may help if you can get a copy.
Have just purchased a 2013 Brumby and looking forward to first camping experience with it [ have had 1976 Cargill Camper since new but wife wanted that slide out stove and sink }.
Just wanted to know if any handbooks were available anywhere for the Brumby and also, when plugging in the inbuilt battery charger to 240 volts, how do you tell when it is charged or do I need to fit a voltmeter.
I would have thought that some form of battery condition meter would be standard but have not located one.
Thanks
Rosco
G'day Rosco. Your question on a handbook would be better directed to Cub Campers. The nearest outlet should be able to supply one. My weekender has a series of lights on the charger that indicates charging, and charge condition. Once again , I would ask the nearest dealer. You may have an after-market system fitted to your Brumby. Cub would be happy to answer all your queries. Sorry I can't help you further. Pop
Hello, We bought our Weekender with Transcontinental Pack 3 years ago after late retirement. Driven it for many thousands of kilometres, much of it on gravel roads behind our Forester (glad we opted for the stoneguard). Like other owners I have spoken to, we have problems with poor canvas fit with large creases down the side, even after attempting to reset. We have learnt to use guy ropes on the other side when the awning is erected. When the water pump get sticky we give it a squirt of cooking oil. Overall we are very happy with the Cub and would recommend it. As for the canvas creases, we have just learnt to live with it. Webby
I have a 2008 off-road kamperoo weekender. Is there an easy way to fold up camp leaving the awning attached with out the zip coming open?
Thanks for any advise. Ken
I use a snap tie to connect the zip ends at the door end. Im not real sure what I tied together,( I'd need to open the camper) but you'll work it out easy enough. The front end, above the sink, you can't do much with, but it doesn'come unzipped anywhere near as bad as the door end. Hope that helps. Happy camping.

You definitely don't need to undo the zip.
We do that all the time. Not sure about 2008 model though. Talk to cub, they're very helpful
Thanks guys. Will make it easier to set up. Cheers Ken
Hi, I have a 2010 Weekender, trans c pack. The canvas always looks saggy and untidy, I have followed resetting instructions but still very ordinary. Wondering if any one can push a few hints my way, also the correct way to pack up, what bars or bows to loosen etc, and what bars come standard with basic awning that comes with the Cub, end wall fitted. Any info would be appreciated. Regards Bill
Hi loosen the wing nuts on the vertical stays, push up hard hold while tightening wing nuts. Worked for me. Cheers.
G'day Bill, I have a 2015 model. This came with 3 spreader bars with velcro, 2 spreader bars without, and 3 vertical bars with thread. To pack up drop the 2 corner poles, and pack away, drop the bar from the doorway right down and lock it. Now loosen both bow clamps, and allow end wall to collapse in. Leave about 100 mm from the curve, and relock. Zip the door but leave about a metre for air to escape; undo all elastic retainers, and press studs around the outside and wind away. Read my advice on guy ropes on the opposite side when using the annexe. The weight of the annexe will move your roof to the kitchen side, and you will never get your roof right. Be firm when resetting your roof on a really flat surface, but not over enthusiastic. The canvas shrinks in the cold of the night, and will lift your floor off the ground. Check out any show photos, or even have a look at one of the shows, and you will see that Cubs come standard with less than perfect canvas. Live with the problem. I am constantly adjusting, just to get my door to zip, and the velcro on the end window never matches up. Accept the faults, it's the price we pay for a genuine 5 minute set-up. (minus awning). You will need to pay 2 or 3 times more money to get a better quality camper. I agree it's frustrating, but just accept it and enjoy! Hope this helps. . PS. When using guy ropes on the annexe, peg them at the bottom of your vertical poles. The spreader bars keep the shape, the ropes only need to hold it down. Less chance of pulling your roof sideways.
