and given a 4 hour window for the installers to arrive. They arrived within the window and I was given 30min warning for both the electrician (needed a GPO) and the HP installers arrival. The installation was neat and matched the what was quoted for.
I got in touch with Darebin Trade Services after I'd seen good reviews on a Facebook group page I belonged to. Nick, the General Manager, came out quickly to provide an onsite quote as I had a complex install to do. quote already from a trusted (by me) provider, but I wanted to do my due diligence and get another one. Darebin came in slightly cheaper and had good reviews, and Nick responded quickly to my email query, so my first impressions were good. After I received the quote, I made a few changes, so they made those adjustments to the quote and put the request in to the manufacturer ASAP after it was approved. Unfortunately the tank deliver took longer than expected (I'm not sure if it was because it was a narrower version to fit the space it had to go into), but once it arrived they booked my install quickly. Stephen, Dom and the rest of the team did a great job in removing the old system and putting in the new one. As the tank and condenser had to be put across the path that runs down the side of our house, near our fence, they had to go under the path and back out again to make all the necessary connections. As you can see by the photos, the job looks neat and tidy, and they took care to put the timber border of the garden bed back once they installed the condenser. As I had to leave early to catch a flight the day of the install, I had a few follow-up questions, which Nick responded to quickly. I also, coincidentally, developed an NBN issue the same day and his electricians took the time to come back to the site after I got back to Melbourne to see if their work had somehow interrupted my connection. We all agreed it wasn't anything they had done and NBN are coming out to replace my router. While the job took a bit longer than I had hoped, the outcome was great and the system is working as it should (and is amazingly quiet), and I wouldn't hesitate to get in touch with Nick/Darebin Trade again if I have any questions or another install done.

few short days after the rebate was approved by Solar Vic, Cooper and Jonah from Darebin arrived promptly on time to carry out the install. Whole process took 3 hours and the site was left spotless.They are a professional company, which I wholeheartedly can recommend.

Follow-up · Don’t wait until your cooling unit stops working, the unit should be serviced every 2- 3 years to ensure it’s working correctly and any minor faults fixed prior to becoming major. Follow-up · I only have 1 month billing cycle, but using the Powerpal app to monitor my electricity usage, my daily overall household usage in Sept 2025 was 147kwh, compared to Oct 2025 of 81 kwh. Kane from Darebin did a great job of servicing our ducted heater. The heater wasn't starting sometimes when it should have and had to be booted.. He rectified the problem and also adjusted the gas meter to improve the supply to the heater unit. A thoroughly professional job. Happy to recommend Darebin. Show details · 1
Follow-up · The heater needed a clean and service, nothing else was wrong. The alteration to the flow from the meter increased the heaters effectiveness. The technician did a great job. Very professional. The company has serviced my previous heater.

Nick was very responsive to the several queries and clarifications and in making a recommendation as to which brand and unit of HWS heat pump to proceed with.
I also conducted my own research into the different brands and models and also providers. iStore and Darebin Trade Services had consistent positive reviews.
I also was impressed by the standard and quality of the workmanship and installation, the use of foiled pipework installation and that the installation was completed in accordance with manufactures and current plumbing standards (no short cuts).
With all this in mind, the decision to proceed with Darebin Trade Services and the iStore was made easy.
I also like the fact that Darebin Trade Services have been in the plumbing industry for some time and have a great reputation, are local and can therefore respond to any service and maintenance requirements, including plumbing emergencies.
Once I confirmed and accepted the quote, I received a confirmation email and then a call (as indicated in the email) to schedule the install.
The team then had a cancellation, so I again received a call to request if I was home and whether they could reschedule my install earlier than planned.
The quality of the overall service, from initial contact, quoting, scheduling of the work has been great. I have been extremely impressed by the level and quality of communication from the team.
I am also extremely impressed with the quality and professionalism of the installation and installation team respectively.
Finally, I have been extremely impressed by the iStore unit itself. I have found the system extremely efficient, the water pressure and temperature has been consistent and meeting my expectations, as has how the unit operates and its functionality. I also like how the iStore is an Australian owner company.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my decision to have Darebin Trade Services supply and install my new iStore 270L HWS and in the iStore itself.

"Would Not Recommend Darebin Gas To Anybody" - They Don't Even Deserve 1 Star – Very Disappointing Experience with Darebin Gas After paying Darebin Gas to carry out a repair and fully service our Air Conditioning Unit, we noticed that the Unit kept on making a loud shuddering and banging noise every time we would switch it on. I promptly informed Darebin Gas about this issue and they advised somebody would call me back, but… Read more
they never did. When I recontacted them again about the same issue, I was informed that the Manager,[name removed], wasn't prepared to send a technician out as he said the company should have been notified of the problem within 2 weeks following the service.
Despite me trying my very best to explain to the reception staff that I did actually contact their company within a few days of the job being done to notify them of this problem, and to also to inform them that this noise was definitely NOT there prior to the unit being repaired and serviced, they still refused to send a technician out unless I paid for it.
I also found it extremely interesting that another one of Darebin Gas' customer's has left a review complaining of exactly the same issue which I have experienced after they serviced his cooler, which I have copied and pasted below:
"I booked a service for my Evaporative Air Cooler with Darebin Gas. When booking I stated that it was noisy on low settings. After the service the tech told me the reason the cooler was noisy was due to its age and the parts not working as smoothly as they once did. The next day after the service I went on the roof to inspect the cooler as it was still very noisy. I found the issue was the fan was rubbing against its cowling. On closer inspection I noticed the drum fan had shifted along its axle. When I realigned it there was a screw missing that allowed the fan to shift. I replaced the screw and the unit is not whisper quiet again. Total fix time approx 5 min and I know nothing about evap coolers."
In addition to all the above, their Technician completely broke a roof tile on our roof which resulted in rain water leaking through our kitchen ceiling and causing damage. When I called their office to make them aware of this, they very begrudgingly sent someone out to replace the tile, however, I had to pay for the tile at my own expense and ring around different companies to try and source the same roof tile. I then had to travel miles away to pick it up, all of which was extremely time consuming and should have been arranged by Darebin Gas, considering it was their technician who broke the tile.
I would never recommend Darebin Gas to anybody.
UPDATE: I've recently had an extensive discussion with [name removed], from Darebin Gas via Facebook Messenger, who has also refused to do anything about the issue.

As winter arrives, our Braemar gas ducted heating again fails to light reliably. Darebin Trade Services were very responsive on the phone and got us an appointment the next morning. Nice guy called Cooper came out, checked everything thoroughly, gave a clear explanation, couldn't find any specific faults, so cleaned everything, reset the system, and it's now working perfectly. Awesome service from Darebin Trade to repair my gas wall heater! They send an sms to let you know they're 20 mins away, and arrived on time. They quickly identify the issue and repair it, thoroughly test it before leaving, and it's easy to pay with a bank transfer, I highly recommend Darebin Trade Show reply

Call out fee was excessive compared to other service companies, over $250. Tradesman completed his work in a timely manner and ended up with a bill of nearly $600 for 20 min work. The part was around $200. Pretty good hourly rate!!! Next time I will do some more shopping around first.

promptly contacted in the morning, but disappointed that it did not warrant an urgent check. I made an appointment for the following day. Late in the afternoon, one of the installers came back to collect a piece of left behind equipment. At my request he checked the settings, and found one of the adjustments on the side had not been set properly. The gas immediately fired up and I could hear that it was working. On asking why this had not been checked when it was installed he blamed the inexperience of his colleague. I did not feel this was good enough as he should have checked it before they left.

Very happy wiith the repair and periodic maintenance of the ducted gas heater unit. Advised on the approximate arrival and he was on time. Very courteous and explained the fault to be fixed.
