any usage after taking readings two hours apart. Found the leak but I am 69 with a bad injury so called a plumber and got these clowns. Severe pain, meds not working any by myself they wanted $79 callout fee before even looking at the job, then after borrowing my tools (Ozito flood light and rotary hammer drill) looked at the job. ("Professional plumber carried his tools in a clear PLASTIC bag...I would have twigged if the meds were working) Quoted $6,138 which I refused. I thought from previous quotes for other items I wanted done it would be around $1,500 to $2,000 so I said NO and then the hard sell was applied. I was in pain, meds still weren't working and I folded and agreed to $4,300 but it was 10% before starting and he still borrowed my tools. Took THREE hours (after sitting in the driveway for 50 minutes) to remove 11 bricks and replace an 11 inch length of ½" copper pipe and a cheap tap (pressure fitted) and then I later found when putting the bricks back he cocked that up. One brick sticks out because the pipe didn't have a tight enough bend and I didn't want the copper pipe to be touching the brick and failing again. Took me less time to put the bricks back than it took to smash them out and I have never done brick work before. Really only needed 3 bricks removed to get to the leak.
NO written quote or proof of work. "Office will send that out" and of course they didn't. All I have are the receipts from his EFTPOS machine with company name on it.
The images were after I cleaned out the broken bricks and mortar that he left behind. Should have taken a photo of that. Used hand tools to avoid damaging the pipe after I saw what he had done in the bottom right corner of the DAMAGED pipe. Copper no longer shiney due to three months it took me to recover enough to brick up the hole.
10% Deposit $428.79 paid at time 15:37 Competed Payment $3,796.86 paid at time 18:40

we agreed to due to urgency
After completion, the leak continued. A follow-up visit resulted in another quote for additional work, which we declined out of frustration
We then contacted our builder, whose plumber identified a pinhole leak in a shower pipe upstairs. This was repaired within the week and confirmed to be within the builder warranty
Based on our experience, the initial diagnosis did not resolve the issue, and we ended up paying for work that didn’t fix the problem. Would recommend getting a second opinion before proceeding with major work

Ali went above and beyond to find a solution to what wasn’t a straightforward problem, and was incredibly patient with all of my questions along the way. He was punctual, professional, polite, and genuinely trustworthy, which made the whole process stress-free. The pricing was also definitely more than fair, which I really appreciated. We would absolutely use them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both Ali and the team at Silver Water Plumbing.

home. The difference in taste and clarity of the water was noticeable from the very first glass. Tap water in my area often has a slight chlorine odor, but with this purifier, the water tastes clean, fresh, and far more enjoyable to drink. I now find myself drinking more water daily, which is a healthy bonus. Beyond taste, knowing that the purifier removes common contaminants gives me peace of mind, especially when preparing food and drinks for my family. Even my tea and coffee taste better, which I hadn’t expected. Overall, this water filter purifier delivers excellent value for money. It combines efficiency, convenience, and reassurance in one product. I would highly recommend Aquaman water filter to anyone looking to improve their water quality at home.

turn booked me in for replacement 250 litre Rheem 3.6 tank. $2195.Friday not urgent, Monday Tradelink delivered tank and NEW fittings and mixer. Later that day [Name Removed] turned up in old van and looking homeless, After replacing the tank I noticed he hadn’t used new parts from box for tank inlet and outlet, recycled old discoloured brass fittings with mould on them. Also he said the electrical connections area showed signs of fusing, The flexible electrical conduit was cracked to form a 90degree bend at connection point by previous plumber from Australian Hot Water.
End result no HOT water caused by faulty mixer.
The outer white sheath was discoloured and showed signs of water ingress, internal conductor insulation was discoloured and hard. I asked them to come back and fix dealing with [Name Removed] at Inline Plumbing who sent me the invoice and booking. Knowing they would send Results plumbing back.
[Name Removed] replaced mixer and I pointed out broken conduit, he tried to repair it with a small cut off piece of new conduit but failed it was not sealed.
I figured Canberra Hot water and Inline plumbing take the majority of money with tail end Results trying to maximise their returns, ALL ONE COMPANY I was told. Next outlet pipe had small leak dripping onto concrete pad, Results sent [Name Removed] out telling him I don’t know what the customer wants, EVEN Though I had explained to [Name Removed] from Inline plumbing. I showed him the water under the water inlet for tank, he proceeded to tighten connection, fixed. Next the outlet connection started leaking, called [Name Removed] at Inline plumbing who said he would fix, no follow up call, so left message with owner of Results plumbing with NO CALL BACK FROM EITHER COMPANY. Last company should change their business name to NO CARE & NO RESULT PLUMBING

solve the problem that we had in a timely manner. Generally the work carried out seemed to be good and the staff, from office to site, were courteous and professional. So why only a 3 star rating? Firstly, I think that the work was done somewhat hurriedly, particularly when we had not asked this to happen, but mostly because, what we were being quoted firstly and then requoted because of the additional work involved, had no way of being verified by another company in the short timeframe that everything was happening and this is where my wife and I felt somewhat compromised. Yes, we were now looking at a job costing over two and a half times the original amount! To this day we don’t really know if we were taken for a ride, or indeed, the amount paid nears the mark in this day and age. That said, after some rain on the Easter weekend, the problem seems to have been fixed!
Please read the full story below, if you wish:
After receiving a fridge magnet in our letterbox and using this form of advertising to contact Wilco Plumbers and look at a problem that we were having with an overflowing downpipe, the company were quick to respond in sending out an investigative plumber, [Name Removed], who acted in a very professional manner and looked at our problem over a couple of hours, with pipe cameras and high pressure hoses, until he found a couple of potential solutions, which were then presented to us and quoted. We accepted the higher cost solution, even though it seemed expensive, as we were told it was the better long term option.
Within 48hrs, further investigation was commenced over several hours by two other workers from the company(sorry, I can’t remember their names), but unfortunately, what was originally quoted we were told, would no longer solve the problem. We were then presented with a new solution, but at a huge increase in cost! At this point I wanted to receive at least one other quote from another company, but it seemed as though the process had already gone too far(and we were told that we would need to pay for the investigative work already carried out that morning)and that we should continue using Wilco to complete the project! They explained the huge increase in cost was from the equipment that would need to be used to complete the work, as well as the increase in cost of materials in recent months etc.
My wife and I (rather stressfully I might add, with her only being contactable over the phone) accepted the new quote and work commenced that afternoon, with the guys removing turf from where the trench was to be dug - a trench laid with both plastic and galvanised pipe, that would now take a large part of our roof water, out into the street and no longer be contained to filter through and beneath the 100 year old concrete pit that was completely gummed up, with nowhere for the water to go, except back up to the down pipe. Problem solved!
The following day, a number of guys turned up with their equipment and everything was set up in a professional manner in order to create as little disturbance as possible to the surrounding area. An initial problem pumping out the existing sludge that was in the old soakwell was overcome, which set things back before they could insert a new plastic well. Unfortunately, at this stage, I had to go down to Sydney for the day and couldn’t see what was going on during the project. I was therefore most surprised to hear from the main worker, late in the afternoon whilst driving home, that the job had been completed!
On returning and observing, I felt that the work had been finished, maybe a little too quickly for my liking and noticed that the filled in and landscaped trench could have been finished in a better way, even though he commented that the fill in would settle in the next few weeks. After a follow up phone call from [Name Removed], they explained that fixing any landscaping details in the future, would be no problem. I also did notice afterwards, that our fence had been slightly damaged, as well as a pole supporting my weather station and the polystyrene sinkwell, also retained considerable cement workings from its insertion, which made me think that, yes, they definitely wanted to finish the job the day before Easter. I should note that the last three imperfections, I have not related to Wilco.
All in all, a costly experience in a very short time frame, but one that ultimately did fix the problem.

Should I get a plumber?
Plumbers can be expensive, which can make it tempting to embark on a DIY plumbing project. However, when it comes to pipe problems, toilet repairs and fixing the other plumbing-related machinery of your home, there’s often no substitute for a professional.
Good plumbing ensures hot showers stay hot, toilets flush, and that there are no unpleasant smells caused by clogged pipes. A DIY job may offer a quick fix but create more plumbing issues down the line. You might need to call an emergency plumber later - which is going to be more expensive.
A plumber has the requisite tools and expertise to assess a situation quickly and suggest viable solutions. For example, if you have a leaking tap, a plumber can advise whether you should replace the tap altogether or just an individual part like a valve seat/washer. If you have a clogged drain, they can use a plumbing snake or small CCTV camera to investigate the cause of the blockage – food, hair or other gunk – and remove it.
Types of plumbing services
Plumbers often offer a variety of services, including but not limited to the following:
Emergency plumbing: Typically available 24/7, an emergency plumber will arrive at your home or commercial space at short notice, taking anywhere between 30 minutes to two hours. They deal with urgent plumbing situations such as burst pipes, overflowing toilets and gas leaks.
Drain plumbing: If you have a blocked drain, a plumber will determine the cause of the blockage, such as a build-up of grease in the drain underneath your kitchen sink. They will then proceed to remove the blockage, or recommend that you replace your old drain with a new one.
Toilet plumbing: Plumbers are perhaps best known for working on toilet repairs. A plumber can help if there is water pooling near the toilet base, the toilet tank is slow to refill, sewage isn’t being removed properly, or water is either constantly or irregularly running. Plumbers can also install new toilets or inspect them as part of routine maintenance.
Fixing pipes: Plumbers can fix leaking pipes, burst pipes (an emergency plumbing service), or the issue of hot water not being delivered to your household due to a pipe problem.
Hot water plumbing: If your home’s hot water system needs maintenance, repair or replacement, a plumber can help. This may be the case if your water takes a long time to heat up, or you’re third in line for a shower in the mornings... but when you finally turn the taps on, your teeth start to chatter. Alternatively, if your water is hot but is accompanied by low water pressure (for example, your shower feels more like a trickle even when turned on full blast), hot water plumbing might also be what you need.
Laying new plumbing pipe: If you’re installing new plumbing as part of a kitchen or bathroom renovation, a plumber may be required to do the job properly the first time around. Plumbers also install kitchen sinks, as well as bathroom and laundry sinks.
Plumbing traps: These are designed to stop unwanted waste materials from the sewers from entering your home via the plumbing. This unwanted waste may include sewer gases, odours and insects in the bathroom, or grease in the kitchen. A plumbing trap will seal these materials inside a small amount of liquid, which can't escape and contaminate the water supply in your home.
Gasfitting: A gas plumber will work on the installation, maintenance, or repair of the following: LPG and natural gas pipes, gas flues, appliances and fittings. This includes plumbing work on gas BBQs and stovetops, gas hot water heaters, gas ovens, as well as gas heaters or fireplaces. Gas plumbing is a specialised skillset within the plumbing trade, so any prospective gas plumber should be fully qualified, with a license to do gasfitting work.
Roof plumbing: A plumber can install, maintain or repair your roof plumbing or guttering, which includes roof coverings, roof flashings, stormwater piping, and the drain or tank that collects stormwater. This helps to prevent flooding or other issues caused by faulty guttering, in the event of heavy rains.
Mechanical services plumbing: Heating, cooling and ventilation systems operate using pipes and fittings. If they need installation, maintenance or repair, a plumber can help. For example, if you’ve just invested in a ducted air conditioner a plumber can install fabricated sheet metal ductwork in your roofing.
What to consider when choosing a plumber
Licensing
Since plumbing is a skilled trade, make sure you only seek out licensed plumbers who’ve completed a certificate or apprenticeship. A fully qualified plumber will be listed under NSW Fair Trading.
More specialised plumbing services may require a tradie to hold additional licenses. For example, both gasfitting jobs and those involving hot water units require more than a standard plumbing license.
Insurance
Ensure the plumber you choose has insurance so that they, their work, and the place they work in are covered.
Ask about the following:
- Home building compensation: This provides cover in the event that a plumber cannot finish the job. It covers the building's owner for projects that cost over $20,000.
- Public liability insurance: This covers the plumber and their tools in the event of an accident.
Customer service
It can be hard to get a sense of a plumber's customer service before you've met them - this is where reviews come in handy.
Reading reviews and testimonials of the different plumbers you're considering will tell you what others have had to see about their customer service, professionalism and reliability, as well as how satisfied customers were with the job the plumbers did.
It's also worth looking at how they respond to any negative reviews they might have. How a plumber responds to a dissatisfied customer can give you an insight into how much they care about their reputation.
How much do plumbers charge per hour?
The hourly rate and overall cost is unique to each plumbing job. It will generally factor in a call-out fee, labour costs, replacement parts/ materials used, and a potential emergency plumbing fee - which can range from $50-200 on top of the actual job.
To know the ballpark figure for plumbing work, getting few quotes online is a good place to start. It’s better than just typing ‘plumbers near me’ into Google, because it factors in the details of your specific job, to give you a more realistic estimate of the costs involved.
While the cheapest option may seem the most attractive, it's also important to consider quality of work, reputation and things like licensing and job guarantees to ensure you choose the best person for the job.
